As I suspected, I think the guy in the credits as Jean le Govello (Benjamin Egner) is Lola’s dad.

2 Secret gardens on one secret street
The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies – Gertrude Jekyll
Tumblr media
“...finally after weeks of grey and damp; the garden positively zinged with freshness... green comes into its own in Spring.  More than any time of the year it acts as not only a foil to the spring flowers but the emerging shoots and leaves have their own vibrancy” -The Patient Gardener Blog.
The above photo is of a garden as secret as it can get at a home on one of the most coveted streets in the greater Philadelphia area. 8750 Montgomery Avenue was designed by renowned Philadelphia architect Frank Rushmore Watson in 1924...
Tumblr media
This decades old wisteria gives the home a natural frame and enhances the history. This incredible home sits on 1.68 acres and is less than a mile from Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia.
The architect, Frank Rushmore Watson, specialized in church architecture and was born and raised in the Frankford Neighborhood of Philadelphia. His designs are up and down the eastern seaboard. Some of his most notable work include St. Mark's Church, Frankford in Philadelphia, Christ and St. Luke, Norfolk, Virginia, and Gideon F. Egner Chapel at Muhlenberg College, Pennsylvania. With Samuel Huckel, Jr. he designed Worcester Union Station in Massachusetts[1][2] and the Cumberland County Courthouse in Bridgeton, New Jersey (1909). - Wikipedia

Did you know... Wisteria is notable not only for its attractive, fragrant flowers, but also for its vigorous growth. The vine may grow 10 feet or more in one year. Heavy annual pruning is necessary to keep it in bounds. The vines become large and woody with age and need sturdy support. Flower colors include blue, red, lavender, and white, depending on the variety.  The hidden side of this vine is its amazing vigor and the ability of its tendrils to grow swiftly underground, popping up far away from the main plant, and wrapping itself around trees, rose bushes or virtually anything else that is in their path and standing still. - Ba-baMail

Did you know “...So much of the nation’s horticultural history is rooted in the Philadelphia area that it has been dubbed “the cradle of horticulture.” Today, Philadelphia has earned its place as ‘America’s Garden Capital’ with a surplus of public gardens offering a wide variety of horticultural display, and events, all year long.
The story of gardening in the colonies could begin with Quaker farmer, John Bartram, who in 1728 established a botanic garden on the banks of the Schuylkill River in what is now southwest Philadelphia. John, and later his son William, dedicated much of their lives to the collection and study of native plants that they gathered from all over eastern North America. The Bartrams introduced more than 200 native plants into cultivation, and the seeds they sent to Europe helped bring the brilliant hues of North America’s autumn to the parks and gardens of England – a gift that is still celebrated today. Visit or hold an event at Bartram’s Garden, more here https://bartramsgarden.org/

King George III named John Bartram “botanist to the king” for the American colonies in 1765, and George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin all visited his garden. Franklin was such a good friend that the Bartrams named the Franklinia alatamaha, for him,  a lovely native tree they saved from extinction. It is now the signature plant of Bartram’s Garden, which is preserved today on its original site as the oldest living botanic garden in America.
Our second home on Montgomery Avenue is called “Ropsley” and truly a one-of-a-kind four-acre country estate designed by Mellor, Meigs & Howe in 1917.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ropsley is over 9,000 sq ft and has amazing details.
Did you know... “the architect, Meigs designed “Ropsley” as more Norman than English, and the gardens were made an integral part of the whole.  Norman architecture is used to categorize styles of Romanesque architecture developed by the Normans in the various lands under their dominion or influence in the 11th and 12th centuries. Ancient Rome's invention of the arch is the basis of all Norman architecture.” - Wikipedia
