I wanna hear!!! Now I'm curious!!
I can't write something I'm happy with, and this is in no way my best writing, so this explanation is what I'm settling with. It's mainly because I want this done. Also a bit of unreality? I guess?? It talks about a fictional character speaking to/interacting with the reader, and they refer to themselves as another version of the reader.
The setting for this thing is the website for a secret government agency that is actively hiring new agents.
Anyway the character. This character essentially is a forgotten piece of code that was made to mimic the future version of the protagonist, whom we go through the website as. If you stay on one page for long enough, they start to edit the text on that page to try and get us to leave. They are bitter and cynical, telling us (the main character,) that we're stupid, self-obsessed, in over our heads. That if we get involved with this agency, we'll be reduced to nothing but spaghetti code.
If we stay on the page for longer, try to press any of the "buy" buttons, or try to input our email onto the page, they go fucking NUTS. Swearing at us, blocking our vision, refusing to let us click on things, the whole nine yards. they call us "fucking stupid," and mention that "we were always so stubborn." You can still input stuff on the website, it's just very difficult to do.
I have met one (1) person who also knew this character existed and she fucking. Made them this "soft innocent uwu" type of character, and it drove me up the fucking WALL. like, their entire purpose for existing is that they're mad and hateful and that whatever they went through made them hate their past selves, so they take it out on us when we don't listen to them.
I also did some research and this character was only for marketing, and that kinda sucks but oh well. I say marketing because the creators eventually started doing NFTs and $150 per month subscription boxes :(
