THE QUEEN'S GAMBIT AO3 SERIESES
Tumblr media
EVERYTHING FOR THE QUEEN'S GAMBIT
Beth Harmon
Benny Watts
(Any of the other characters don't have any requests written nor pending as for now, so I'm unable to have serieses for them as AO3 requires you to have at least one oneshot written to be able to add it to a series, and I can't promise serieses for characters who don't have requests pending/I have no ideas of my own for them)
For anyone who's concerned, THESE ARE NOT ONESHOT COLLECTIONS, they are made using AO3's "series" feature.
If you want to be informed about new fics for The Queen's Gambit or its individual characters, create an AO3 account and subscribe or bookmark any of those serieses listed above. There are buttons at the top right corner for those, or on top on mobile. I do not do Tumblr taglists anymore.
Also, if you're wondering, requests are ALWAYS open and you're welcome to leave one or multiple. Just remember to read my rules and pick a request type from this list.

yap moment | max verstappen
an: finally the long awaited yapper max fic!! so sorry to keep you all waiting <3
Tumblr media
As soon as you saw Max, you practically threw yourself on him. Finally he was back home. It felt like forever when in reality it was just a month. A month without Max’s lips on yours, a month without having his hands in your hair or on your body. A month too long.
“You’re so dramatic.” Max chuckled as you continued kissing down his neck. After stumbling through your shared apartment, you finally made it to the bed. You gently threw him onto the soft bed and straddled him.
“Oh! Before I forget . . .” Max spoke as you continue kissing his neck. “I watched that series you told me about. I watched it on the flight home and I can’t believe Beth and Benny don’t end up together! I mean they’re clearly meant for each other! I should be a writer on that series because I would’ve made them be together.”
You sigh deeply then decide to lay down next to Max. It was obviously going to be a long talk because once Max started, he wasn’t going to stop. But you loved listening to the sound of his voice, it was comforting.
“And it made me want to start playing chess. I ordered a chess board and books. I also played those online chess games and I’m getting pretty good,” Max pulled out his phone to show the screenshots he took of his victories. “I think I’m Beth Harmon reincarnated.”
“Wow, impressive.” You reply as Max showed all the screenshots.
“And I remember you telling me the series was based off of the book so I also ordered two copies so you and I can read it together.”
“Aw, Max. Thank you. Now how about—”
Max cut you off. “Did you know the longest game of chess lasted twenty hours? I read that it was played in nineteen eighty nine but I can’t remember who played it. Imagine just playing chess for twenty hours.”
Eventually, the sound of Max’s voice made you fall asleep. It wasn’t that you thought Max’s excitement over chess was boring, no, you loved how happy he sounded over the things he loves. It was that Max had that soft voice that made you fall asleep so easily. Sometimes you were thankful you had a talkative boyfriend.

Okay so..daughter darling..but Beth Harmon from Queens Gambit. I imagine she’s incredibly good at chess. She goes to all the competitions at school and wins. She even goes against Alfred and ends up winning..idk just a thought ❤
Yandere Batfam w/ Wife/Mother!Darling & Daughter/Sister!Darling Masterlist
Oh my goodness I definitely see that!!!
I imagine she learned chess or something from someone her and her mother met on her mother’s business trips that took them all over the world. They were checking in at a hotel and while she is clinging to her mother’s hand she sees in the corner of her eye a bunch of people playing chess, an international tournament the hotel is hosting. So when her mom is off at one of her meetings she gets her nanny to take her to watch and she is hooked, especially when after one of the matches one of the players comes up over to her and kneels down onto her level and introduces herself to Daughter!Darling and…
“It’s lovely to meet you… say would you like to learn how to play? I certainly could use a partner to practice with and something tells me that you are going to be something else.”
She learns how to play that day and when her mother returns to the hotel from that meeting late that night she sees her daughter sitting at a table in the lobby with woman who is teaching her how to play chess, with so many of the other players all gathered around, some of the best chess players in the world all teaching this little girl how to play.
Her mom then gets calls from all of these chess champions, grand masters, who want to sponsor her daughter’s entry into chess tournaments, they are able to recognize the fact that her daughter has a gift. So her mother beings scheduling her meetings and business trips to be where tournaments are, letting these chess players watch her daughter while she is away at meetings, teaching her how to master the game and play the game against people four times her age. Her mom invites these chess players to parties and dinners she hosts in her home in Singapore or New York since they are so close to her daughter, like uncles and aunties.
So her world is turned upside down when her mother marries Bruce Wayne. Due to her father’s more… protective nature she does not get to go to these tournaments anymore because her mom’s work is now kept just to paperwork at the house, leaving all the foreign meetings to representatives and she is enrolled into the private school that Damian attends. Due to Damian being all so controlling and protective she does not get to spend time with her classmates and that is until after class one day right when Damian normally comes straight from his classroom to hers to walk with her to the car-
“Miss Wayne, may I speak with you for a moment? O-oh and Damian, you can come in, I’ll only be a moment with your little sister.”
Her teacher calls her up to her desk and Damian comes in, fully ready to defend her sister because he thinks she is in trouble when she gets asked to stay after class and instead her teacher hands her a piece of paper, a permission form.
“What did you just hand her?”
“Permission slip for the chess team, I am the staff supervisor for the team and- oh Damian don’t tell me you did not know.”
The teacher grabs a few papers and magazines from her desk drawer, chess publications on his little sister.
“Your little sister is a chess prodigy, learned from grandmasters and world champions. We do not have that level of players on our little team but I thought it would be nice for her to be around people who enjoy the game like her since she is still quite new to Gotham.”
Once they are out of the classroom Damian snatches the paper from her, shoving it in his bag, telling her that he will give it to father. When they get home he instead goes to press Tim, since he looked into them he must have known and Tim did know he just forgot too bring it up because it is just a hobby, when Damian realizes it is probably not the threat he imagined it to be he gives the form to Bruce who is reading with Mother!Darling which leads to another thing and more questions for her and pleading from his wife to let her.
“Bruce please, she loves the game, she has loved it since she saw it… please.”
“…fine, but Damian will have to stay after with her.”
So with that settled she joins the chess club and absolutely dominates everyone there, so much so that is just quick practice for her and Damian is stunned that his little sister who cannot sleep without her stuffed rabbit and still needs her mom to read to her before bed is able to beat the seniors on the team in two dozen moves, absolutely embarrassing them, it is kind of a a slight break in the helpless narrative that her brothers had of her.
Then the day comes around where her teacher gives her a flyer and registration form for an international tournament being hosted in the city. She takes them home and hands them to Bruce at dinner and he is clearly taken aback.
“…this is a tournament for adults, dear. I don’t think this is the type of game for you-“
“She will be fine Bruce, besides I believe some of her aunties and uncles will be competing so she will be perfectly safe with them, besides she used to do these competitions before we were married.”
“Aunties and uncles?”
“Mhm, they taught her how to play when she was four… in fact I have never missed one of her matches.”
Even if Bruce does not sign off on the tournament paperwork as her guardian, her mother will do it and will even call her aunties and uncles to let them know she is going to be playing so the world will spread like wildfire and there is no way to get her out of playing now that the press has spread the word. So when Bruce and her brothers find out it was too late to do anything.
Then when they all go to their venue the morning of the first day of the tournament so she may get the information on who is playing there is the undeniable feeling of heavy jealousy when she sees her aunties and uncles in the hotel lobby of where the tournament is being hosted, and something inside of her lights up and runs up to them and hugs them, looking more happy than she’s ever been in Gotham, because to her these are her actual family.
Then the time of her matches comes, her and her mother along with Alfred stay at the venue so she may practice before her matches in the evening. When she wins her matches it is just her mother and Alfred there, because everyone was late because of patrol. Her matches are over by the time they all arrive to watch, and she just looks up to Bruce’s eye…
“I am glad my mother was the one who raised me and left you before I was born… she has never missed one of my matches.”
“Do not speak to me like that, young lady-“
“You are not my father and never will be no matter how hard you try.”

The Visitor P2
Tumblr media
Media The Queens Gambit
Character Benny Watts
Couple Benny Watts X Reader
Rating Sweet
Requested :
Hello hello!!! For the Benny watts stories do you think you can do one, that were Benny's wife and he invites Beth to stay with us until she goes to Paris and he told us about it and we were fine with it but Beth didn't know that we knew she was coming and she is jealous of us and trying to start things with us but we put her in her place and benny is turn on by us putting her in her place. Please and thank you ☺️
I hurried to the kitchen and started work on dinner for us as well as some more snacky bits while we all caught up and of course imagine Beth and Benny will want to be playing chess for a while. And as dinner worked I quickly grabbed a dress from the airer beside the dryer threw my cream dress onto the laundry and slipped on my tea length off shoulder white dress with monochrome flowers and vines, making sure to do it up tight and making sure my petticoats sat fluffy, making sure to reapply my lipstick. I Heard the door and went to set things down but I heard him heading down the stairs "I got it!" He says so I left dinner to simmer fixing my hair in the reflection of the pan on the drying rack, And I headed through to the living room. Benny stood having just brought her in, Beth stood in her six-inch red under sole heels, flesh-toned tights, a rather snug square neck drop waist black dress with raised piped white seams, her long red hair well curled allowed to hang to her shoulders, she smiled as she looked around the living room.
"Very nice, certainly an improvement." She says her head stopped as if she almost jumped when she saw me, her smile seeming to vanish from her lips "You're not alone." Her cheerful tone shifting
"Why would I be?" He asks her coming further into view and immediately I noticed a bright red kiss on his cheek which didn't take long to deduce where it came from
"Sorry, just didn't know you'd be here," she says "Elizabeth Harmon," she says offering her hand
"That's alright, Y/n Watts" I smiled shaking her hand
"Watts?" She asks with a glare in Benny's direction
"It's about time you met my wife" he smiled wrapping an arm around me and giving my cheek a kiss I smiled giving his lips a little kiss and cleaning off the lipstick stain
"Forgive me I've been busy with dinner" I said fixing my dress
"No, no it's... adorable" she says fixing her hair
"Do have a seat" I offered and she took a seat in Benny's chair so I sat on the sofa as Benny headed to the kitchen to fetch drinks
"A lot changed in a season"
"You could say that," he answered from the kitchen
"So go on give me an update on what's been happening?" She says as he arrived backhanding her a drink immediately I notice her fingers grace his as she took her glass but he said as usual utterly oblivious and he sat down beside me on the sofa
"Well, been doing the usual rounds and all" he shrugs
"I haven't seen you around much"
"Took a little time off"
"Guess you didn't want him away so much?" She asks me
"I told him he could go"
"No I wanted to be here with you, I've got all the time in the world for tournaments, why would I cut short our honeymoon?" He Cooes holding my hand "I wanted time off anyway"
"From what losing?" She asks
"You needed some time off, you were working too hard" I smiled stroking his hair immediately he shot me a look he knew something was up but couldn't quite figure it out yet
"What about all this then?" She asks
"Well, stopped off in a little hotel on the way back from California just to sleep for the night give my head a rest. Decided to pop down to the little cafe across from the hotel and there she was"
"We weren't meant to be closed but I couldn't just kick you out into the cold"
"You were very sweet to me,"
"We chatted, and we ate until the sun came up."
"I knew of never finding another girl like you in a million years, we traded numbers and I came back home but pretty much the first thing I did the second I got home was call you"
"Ended up talking a for a good few more hours"
"We talked every day for months, and it got to a point I couldn't wait any longer I drove all the way down there turned up in the middle of your shift, marched in and proposed with a cheap ring I bought from the pawn shop"
"You made me drop a whole pot of coffee on the floor, but I said yes. I mean how could you say no to that face."
"Got things square brought this place and for married at the courthouse just a month back" he explained "Still getting used to it" he chuckled fiddling with his wedding ring
"And still unpacking, this place was a steal but sort of a spur-of-the-moment sort of thing"
"What about the cafe? You quit I'm guessing?"
"It was my business I sold up and used the money for our down payment and the rest on the laundromat a few blocks down"
"Humm quiet the business girl" she says
"Been one all my life." I answered "It's always good having solid cash coming in, pretty soon I'll be taking the laundromat profits and investing in a little record store I have my eye on"
"The one on Harrington's street?" He asks
"That's the one"
"Awww I told you about that" he smiled giving my cheek a kiss "So what's been up with you Beth? Grandmastering I suppose?"
"Mostly been on tour for my new book, heading off to Paris for the invitational planning on going out with Cleo while I'm there" she explained "Mostly been taking care of the house, it's been nice having some time off to relax not easy being grandmaster and all"
"I imagine it takes a lot of your time." I snapped back "Not reliable though, chess money comes and goes I'd always be worried if we replied on just winning tournaments it's nice having concrete assets" I explained "and the profits are nice"
"Very nice, you paid off my car for me. I had a lot of parking tickets... way more than I thought I did, there was actually a warrant out to impound it. But it's really nice not worrying so badly about money"
"It's very nice to start a marriage with a clear financial slate." I smiled
"Well hopefully I should be getting my Moscow prize Money as usual" she snapped back
"Ohh do excuse me I need to check on dinners" I smiled getting up and heading to the kitchen everything was going well I heard them talking about chess for a solid few minutes but when I headed back I noticed she had moved forward to the edge of the chair moving her hand down the sofa arm until her hand met his he pushed her hand off absentmindedly as they spoke clearly assuming it was an accident but her hand quickly returned to his and even slyly pushed his wedding ring down his finger
I coughed which caused her to move away, and Benny nervously brought his hand to his chest fixing his ring
"I don't have many rules for guests in our house Beth. But I'd thank you very kindly to keep your hands to yourself" I told her
"Just playing y/n like old times" She smiled getting to her feet
"Be that as it may. I'm sure a very smart girl such as yourself can understand concepts and this one's pretty damn simple." I told her "Keep your hands off my husband"
"Understood" she nods "I'll take my things upstairs" she says sheepishly grabbing her things and heading upstairs
"First door on your left" I told her before I went to the kitchen as now dinner was ready so I began setting things up on the table and I felt Benny come and wrap his arms around me kissing my neck "Benny!" I complained elbowing him slightly
"Raooww" he playfully laughs "thought there was gonna be a catfight"
"I was making a point."
"You really sexy when your... commanding"
"Am I?"
"Ummm hummm" he smirked biting his lip a little "You should put your foot down more often, I like it"
"Well see"
"I'm sorry -"
"What for? Not your fault" I shrug
"I should have moved, or said something, or... not Invited her here"
"Benny," I laughed turning to face him leaning on the table as I wrapped my arms around his neck "It's fine, your not always the best at picking up on these things I learned that pretty quickly hence why I've always been really straight forward with you, you didn't pick up on it's it's fine not like you imagined she would, you did perfectly fine my love. She's your friend you invited her here it's not a problem if you want her here then she'll be welcome. But that doesn't stop me from kicking butt if I need to"
"Your sure?"
"Very sure"
"I love you so much"
"I love you too" I smiled pulling him into a kiss I heard heels on the stairs but we ignored her continuing our kiss till I pulled back "Go on then Mr watts set the table" I told him
"Yes, Mrs watts." He smirked back giving me another kiss "Another drink before dinner Beth? We can play some speed chess after"
"Sure" she nods still pretty sheepish

Actually, now that I have thought it over, I think it would be better to add live action TV adaptations to possible candidates for the 40, but for characters from Live Action TV Shows.
I would include...
Jon Snow from Game of Thrones
Shawn Spencer from Psych
Michael Scott or Jim Halpert from The Office
Leslie Knope or Ron Swanson from Parks and Rec
Edmund Blackadder or Baldrick from Blackadder
Neil from The Young Ones
and Gilligan from Gilligan's Island
What live action TV Shows would you pick?
There were so many shows that it was so hard to pick! But I did my best:
The Addams Family (1964): Gomez or Mortica
BBC Sherlock: John Watson (I know there are some who don’t like this version, but I like the idea of John becoming even more badass and getting a leg up on Sherlock).
Good Omens: Aziraphale or Crowley
Merlin: Merlin of Arthur (I’m just imagining Arthur being surrounded by modern technology and calling it “sorcery!”)
House MD: House
Gilligan's Island: Gilligan
M*A*S*H: Hawkeye or Klinger (Look, the man KILLED IT in those dresses and was committed!)
Star Trek: The Original Series: Kirk or Spock
The Nanny: Fran or Niles
The Golden Girls: Rose or Dorothy or Sophia or Blanche (Listen, for so long I have wanted to see Niles from The Nanny and Sophia go toe to toe in an insult competition, so this is the closest I can get!)
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: Will Smith
Knight Rider (1982): Michael Knight or KITT (Can you imagine three of the people waking up in a room only to find a talking car with them as well?)
Dexter: Dexter
Fringe: Olivia or Walter or Peter
Stranger Things: Steve Harrington (The babysitter needs to be prepare) or El
Doctor Who: Tenth Doctor
Supernatural: Sam or Dean or Castiel
The Good Doctor: Shaun Murphy
Breaking Bad: Walter White or Jesse Pinkman
The Handmaid's Tale: June Osborne
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Buffy
Roswell (1999): Liz Parker or Max Evans
Fleabag: Fleabag
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: Miriam Maisel
Orange Is The New Black: Piper Chapman
Psych: Shawn Spencer
The Office: Michael Scott or Jim Halpert
Parks and Rec: Leslie Knope or Ron Swanson
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Jake Peralta or Ray Holt
MacGyver (1985): Angus MacGyver
NCIS: Leroy Gibbs
Criminal Minds: Spencer Reid
The X-Files: Dana Scully or Fox Mulder
Full House: Jesse Katsopolis or Danny Tanner or Joey Gladstone
Corner Gas: Brent
Downton Abbey: Charles Carson
Monk: Adrien Monk
The Queen's Gambit: Beth Harmon
Columbo: Columbo
Murder, She Wrote: Jessica Beatrice Fletcher

Plug 7: Calum Huggan & MusicLab
Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, 1 May 2025
During the 19 years of its existence, the RCS’s Plug festival has premiered 750+ new works. Festival regular Calum Huggan joined the conservatoire’s contemporary music ensemble MusicLab on Thursday to add another five to the list.
Niall Docherty’s Shift, which opened the concert, was a marvellous tour de force of for the percussionist. Regarded for his deft playing of tuned percussion, Calum’s facility across the entire gamut of struck instruments was put to the test throughout the evening. The only overtly soloistic work on the programme, Huggan expertly excelled in seamlessly turning the dial back and forth between committed ensemble member and virtuoso individuality. Special mention however, should be made of trumpeter Beth Harby, whose playing in this number veered between taut fanfare figures and breathy lyricism.
Thankfully, the music of Ember Murray’s Odium was far more appealing than its title. Eschewing a programme note, the onus was on the listener to discern what general or widespread hatred or disgust Murray’s work inferred. Stabbing rhythms contrasted with a more pleasing sensibility, Abby Felton’s attractive guitar work holding its own over block brass accompaniment.
The universe of Victor Hugo hung over La Fête des Fous by Mingyi Yang. Translating as The Feast of Fools, at the centre of the work Huggan delighted in providing a peel of apocalyptic tubular bells worthy of Quasimodo, followed immediately by an almost silent two-handed triangle solo – a technique I have not witnessed before - serving to illustrate within a few seconds the tremendous range of Huggan’s percussive palette. Yang also displayed a keen spatial awareness, creating a snappy dialogue between accented brass and timpani at opposite sides of the room. Despite opening in apocalyptic fury, the Gallic theme was maintained as the music wound down to an almost impressionistic afterglow, reminiscent of something by Joseph Canteloube.
Milos Czarniecki’s Samsāra, a Sanskrit word meaning wandering, immediately transported the audience east of the Danube by way of the Ganges with its meandering exotic scales, beautifully realised by clarinettist Isobel McKeeve. It is to Czarnieki’s credit that he is able to integrate such disparate material into a single work.
The final piece the night was Hiro Kayo’s Flowing Aroma Resonance, literally a feast for the senses. As the ensemble tuned up, ushers moved through the auditorium like perfume sellers, handing out fragrance strips for the audience to indulge in during the piece. The least rhythmically firm item on the programme, Kayo’s imaginative orchestration of winds and delicate violin harmonics complemented the aromas presented to us. The three sections corresponded to an ingredient of Kayo’s olfactory offering; sandalwood, ginger and tobacco.
The fledgling composers’ efforts showed an impressive maturity of thought, form and colour that belied their years.

Accessibility Features in OTT Platforms
Enhancing the Streaming Experience: Unlocking Accessibility Features on OTT Platforms
In today’s fast-paced world, online streaming has become an integral part of our lives. Whether it’s binge-watching our favorite series or discovering new films, Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms have revolutionized the way we consume content. While we often focus on what to watch on OTT, it’s equally important to discuss the often-overlooked topic of accessibility features that can make the streaming experience inclusive for everyone.
Tumblr media
Closed Captions for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
One of the most significant accessibility features on OTT platforms is closed captions. These text-based overlays provide a transcript of the audio content, making it accessible to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Beyond its primary function, closed captions also benefit those who want to watch content without disturbing others, or even those trying to learn a new language.
Imagine watching a gripping crime thriller late at night, ensuring that your thrilling experience doesn’t disturb your sleeping family members. Closed captions enable you to do just that, enhancing the enjoyment of your chosen content without compromise.
Audio Descriptions for the Visually Impaired
For those with visual impairments, audio descriptions are a game-changer. These narrations describe important visual elements in the content, including actions, expressions, and scenes, that may not be discernible through audio alone. It adds depth and context, allowing visually impaired individuals to fully immerse themselves in the storyline.
Imagine watching a breathtaking nature documentary where the narrator describes the vibrant colors of a coral reef or the majestic flight of an eagle. Audio descriptions bring these visual experiences to life for those who can’t see, making it an inclusive and emotionally enriching experience for all.
Customizable Subtitles and Captions
OTT platforms go a step further by allowing users to customize the appearance of subtitles and captions. This feature enables viewers to adjust text size, color, background, and even font style according to their preferences. It’s a small yet significant aspect of accessibility that ensures viewers with specific visual needs have a comfortable and enjoyable watching experience.
Voice Commands for Easy Navigation
Voice commands have become increasingly popular on OTT platforms. They empower individuals with mobility impairments to navigate the platform effortlessly. With simple voice commands like “play,” “pause,” “rewind,” or “search for [title],” users can enjoy content without the need for manual controls.
What to Watch on OTT with Accessibility Features
Now that we’ve explored the importance of accessibility features, let’s not forget the primary reason we turn to OTT platforms — the content itself. Here are some recommendations for what to watch on OTT platforms that make excellent use of these accessibility features:
Breaking Bad (Netflix): This critically acclaimed series is available with closed captions and audio descriptions, allowing viewers to delve into the dark world of Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher turned methamphetamine manufacturer.
The Sound of Metal (Amazon Prime Video): This film offers an authentic portrayal of a drummer’s journey through hearing loss. Subtitles and audio descriptions help viewers immerse themselves in the powerful story.
The Queen’s Gambit (Netflix): Follow the life of an orphaned chess prodigy, Beth Harmon, with customizable subtitles and captions. The show’s captivating storytelling is accessible to all.
Soul (Disney+): This heartwarming Pixar film, available with audio descriptions, explores the afterlife and the pursuit of one’s passions. It’s a visually stunning experience made accessible to everyone.
In conclusion, while we often focus on “what to watch on OTT,” let’s also remember to make our streaming experiences inclusive. Accessibility features not only cater to specific needs but also enhance the enjoyment of content for all viewers. As we continue to embrace the world of online streaming, let’s ensure that everyone has the opportunity to share in the joy of storytelling, regardless of their abilities.

It isn't his line she wishes to steal. Rather, it is his heart because Beth does not believe that she is enough to purloin his soul and keep it safe. But his heart, his love is more than enough for her, it always has been. How precious then are these moments, wrapped within and around one another. She hopes he will take the warmth, the passion with him when he goes, and uses it to protect himself from the grief and horrors that await him. He caresses her face still in unspeakable tenderness and she feels seen with the press of his lips. She soaks into him, the hitches in her breath, the sting of tears ~nothing to do with pain or hate or confusion ~ leaving a wandering trail of joy down her cheeks and down to her lips. Those soft tiers press against his throat. The tip of her tongue draws lazy patterns along his Adam's apple and then drags into the hollow of the bones below. She breathes in smoke and snow and wool, the scent of his pommade and soap, his personal scent. She rises again into his kiss. Matches his pitch and ferver with her own hand to harmonize their rhythm. Her pulse races and she can feel her body burn like wildfire but there remains a hollowness within her that she cannot define. A rush of cold air is bracing as the small swells beneath their fabric become exposed, the chill raising goose-flesh and the peaks now stiff to the point of aching. Can he not feel her heart trying to leave her chest to give itself to him? For a brief instant she imagines his mouth bloody from a bite into it, as he swallows the pieces of her. And just as quickly as that thought rises does she blink it away. She does catch his lower lip between hers and suckles it until the points of her teeth drag against it before letting him go. She wants to devour Ben. Tell me what you want.
His voice implores in its sweet softness, a whispered husk she can't tell if he asks aloud or writes it with his mouth against her skin, but Beth finds she doesn't quite know how to answer him. Every instinct tells her there is need but not quite how or where, only why. She feels like she's standing on a cliff's edge with nothing but the raging sea seething below. She fears what he may think of her. That he will turn away despite being anchored here with her now. "I'm sorry," she says and the words themselves, small as they are, tremble. With incredible care her one free hand slides down his body to his hip and she finds she has to cease her efforts within his clothes to tug them down. Her eyes never leave his face instead gauging every breath he takes. Once she's dragged his breeches down to his thighs her lashes lower. Some frustration comes creeping in at the edges of her features and into stilted breath. She takes hold of his wrist and agonisingly pulls him away from her wet heat, caring little what his coated fingers might make of their clothes, while swallowing back a groan that rises in her throat. She does not release him likewise though her strokes slow before stopping. She inches closer to him. Presses herself against his chest and shifting so that her lips once again find their way to his ear. As sinful a whisper as ever had been uttered. "I want you, Benjamin. Within me, full and furious. As plow to furrow, until your seed spills. Make us whole, m'accushla."
Beautiful...
Benjamin blinked at that, the placid lake of his eyes warming with a tender sort of disbelief. In war, it was so easy to become scarred, mangled, ugly in thought, word and deed -- it was a primary reason why he feared being reunited with his father.
Threading his fingers through her hair, he brushed his thumb along the apple of Beth's cheek, studying, admiring before he stooped to press a kiss upon her brow. The juxtaposition between this affection and the steady, almost frantic push of his hand between her thighs was maddening, and breathless, he grazed his lips along the corner of her mouth before teasing, "I think...I-I'm certain you stole my line..."
She had. Beth was beautiful -- undeniably so -- and breath catching when she tightened her hold around him, he sank his teeth into his bottom lip and thrust through the taut ring of her fingers, dizzy and biting back a growl once she rocked her hips into his own ministrations.
She pulsed around his delving fingers, welcoming him more deeply inside as she mewled into their shared breath. Overcome, Benjamin fumbled with the lacing along her shift with one hand, tugging and yanking until the fabric loosened and drooped past her shoulders. Bringing his lips to her neck, he smeared a trail of kisses across her skin, traveling down, down, until he mouthed at the pebbled indentation of her nipples through her shift. She tightened against his tongue even through the fabric, and trembling, his affections grew aimless as he pressed a kiss over her heart, to the pulse in her throat, to her gasping mouth.
"Ben…please..."
He finally hesitated. Breath aching in his lungs, Benjamin ceased the forceful prodding between her thighs and lifted his head, his face pink with pleasure and his eyes bright and lust-blown once he met her gaze. "Please what?" he asked, his voice oddly small.
Had he hurt her? Was she begging him to stop?
The dusky glint in Beth's eyes coupled with the shallow, eager heave of her breasts told a different story, and yet Benjamin was terrified of harming her. Ever since she was small, he knew she'd been entrusted to his care; he was meant to look after her, to console her, to love her, and throat raw, Benjamin cupped the curve of her cheek and lowly pressed, "What is it?" Brushing his nose over hers, he pleaded, "Tell me what you want."

SILVER GIRL
pairing: beth harmon x reader
word count: 1014
notes and warnings: requested by anonymous,, inspired by the song “silver girl” by fleetwood mac. sorry this took so long, i’ve been piled in assignments!!
summary: you finally get beth to take a break
Tumblr media
She’d been ignoring you for hours.
Not intentionally, of course – you knew she would never ignore you intentionally. But she had been studying the chessboard since lunch, and it was almost time for dinner. You were convinced that if you didn’t remind her every so often, she would never eat, let alone sleep, for she would chain herself to her desk.
Usually, you did not have much of an issue with this, yet she had just gotten home from the tournament in Russia and she’d hardly taken a moment to rest.
You were worried about her. You worried that she would get lost again, that she would have another spiral, that she would pull away from you once more.
Yet you had crafted a plan. You’d taken advantage of the hours she spent upstairs in her room, having gone to the store without her knowledge and purchased bags full of items with money you silently promised to pay her back eventually.
One of your purchases was a new table cloth for the dining room – it was a cream-colored floral design, bright blue and gold flowers adorning the table and brightening the room significantly. Positioned in the center of the table was a white vase filled with blue irises and crimson roses. Around the vase you had aligned a circle of candles, which you had yet to light, but you knew they would complete the ambience.
You grinned, hardly able to contain your excitement as you turned to view the wrapped box you had placed in front of her seat. You’d bought her an outrageously expensive chess board a while ago that you were planning to save for her birthday, but you spontaneously decided that today was just as good of an occasion to give it to her. It had been bothering you anyway to hide it from her, for you were always imagining what her expression would be when she unwrapped it and saw that the chess pieces were made of glass, and it always made you so indescribably rejoiced.
For a moment you wondered if you should make her a card as well, but you decided that might be a bit much, and so you sauntered into the kitchen and brought out two plates of pasta, ignoring the utter mess in the kitchen and priding yourself on how well you had crafted the meal. You were never much of a cook, but you had been willing to try for Beth, fighting the urge to pick up food from one of your favorite restaurants. Though you had managed to burn the food twice before finally cooking the simple recipe, you were still beaming with excitement, for all of your struggle was worth it at the thought of making Beth smile.
Every day you spent with her was crafted of silver and gold. Like glass, every passing moment was held with fragility, your affinity for each other priceless.
The golden light coming in from the windows completed everything – even the sun was no match for the warmth of your love, and it knew it. There was no competition, for you held the world in your hands, her heart in your hands.
You started up the stairs, attempting to put on a neutral expression, for you knew she might suspect something if you walked in her room with a dopey smirk.
You knocked on the door, trying to even your voice and let any sense of excitement escape from your tone.
She called for you to come in, and when you did, she was still seated at her desk, her face inches away from the chess board.
“Come down to eat,” you asked, “I just finished dinner.”
For the first time since you’d come in, she looked up at you, surprise in her golden eyes. “You made dinner?”
“I did my best.”
She laughed softly, likely recalling all of the cooking nightmares the two of you’d had together in which you had almost burned the house down trying to make cookies.
“What’s the occasion?”
You couldn’t find the words for a moment. She was the occasion. Your being together was the occasion, every day seemed so special, like the world had decided that every moment you spent together was an unannounced holiday. Your love was the only gift needed.
For your love was crafted of silver and gold.
“There’s no occasion,” you determined, “I just love you, is all… I missed you while you were away at the tournament. I wish I could have gone with you.”
Beth stood, taking you in her arms, meeting her lips with yours.
It felt right.
Everything felt right with her.
“I’ll never leave you again,” she promised. “I could hardly stand being away from you for a moment, let alone days.”
This made you smile, softly. The idea that she was just as tangled in you as you were with her gave you a sort of reassurance, knowing that both of your needs were placed within each other.
“I love you,” you whispered, meeting her golden eyes for a second more, seeing them glisten in the room’s dim light.
“I love you, too.”
And with that, you took her hand and dragged her out into the hallway and down the stairs, not trying anymore to hide your excitement as you half-ran into the dining room.
You gestured to the dining room table. “What do you think?”
“It’s beautiful,” Beth breathed, running her hand gently against the edge of the table cloth, looking from the flowers and the now-lit candles to you. “You did all of this for me?”
“Of course,” you immediately responded. “You deserve this and so much more.”
She noticed the wrapped gift placed on the table by her seat, giving you a questioning look.
“Open it,” you urged, smiling.
As she opened the gift, you saw her expression light up like the sun, and you knew you would relive this moment for years to come, forever in awe of your reality.
For your love was crafted of silver and gold, as fragile as glass, eternally priceless.

Reader was also an orphan and has a crush on beth but she knows she'll never have a chance with her
Tumblr media
"Cheers." Beth raises her glass in the air, a grin settled on her lips as she looks at you across the table. "To our wonderful reunion."
You give out a chuckle, gently bumping your glass with hers. "To our wonderful reunion."
You couldn't quite believe you were sitting in this restaurant, drinking champagne and eating luxurious food with the Beth Harmon. The Beth Harmon that was rapidly escalating her way towards the one true master chess player; the Beth Harmon you used to share a dorm with at the orphanage years ago.
The Beth Harmon you used to crush over from your corner of the cafeteria, the same Beth Harmon you might still have some feelings for despite all those years apart.
"Can you believe it?" She speaks up once more after taking a sip of her champagne, her eyes sparkling as she looks at you. "After all those years, we randomly meet in this hotel. Who would have thought?"
You give out a bitter smile, feeling honoured enough that she invited you to dinner. "I didn't think you'd recognize me."
"Oh, nonsense." She puts her glass back on the table, slightly shaking her head at you. "We lived under the same roof. Of course, I'd remember you."
"Well, you've made quite a name for yourself." You make a gesture towards a few journalists dining at other tables, their eyes flickering back to you two from time to time. "I bet you've met far more interesting people since you left the orphanage."
"I've met a few of them." Her grin widens as she sends you a wink. "But don't sell yourself short. I remember you being quite interesting yourself back in the day."
"Oh. I was nothing compared to you. You were a child prodigy, after all." You take a sip of your champagne, feeling the taste of it going down your throat. "I barely scratched my knees climbing trees and such."
"And Mrs. Alma would scream so loud for you to climb back down." Beth chuckles, fond memories coming back to her mind. "Gosh. She was so bossy."
"Have you met us?" You shake your head, your lips stretched into a genuine grin. "I think she had to."
You both share a quiet laugh as you remember your shared childhood memories. Gosh, you've both grown up so much. Beth was as beautiful as ever, if not more, and she wore the prettiest clothes you've ever seen to show it. You couldn't help but feel a tingling sensation at your fingertips, your throat slowly gulping your saliva as you hesitantly part your lips.
"You know the funniest thing?" You press your head against the palm of your hand, looking over at Beth with a soft look in your eyes. "I used to have the biggest crush on you back then."
"What-Really?" She gives you a look of disbelief, her lips stretched into an amused smile. "You're kidding me, aren't you?"
"I'm not." You shake your head once more, the alcohol now warming you up. "I really liked you then."
"Well, if you really liked me..." She crosses her arms over the table, a teasing glint in her eyes. "Then why didn't you tell me?"
"Have you ever looked at yourself?" You quirk an eyebrow at her, your cheeks hurting from smiling so much. "I knew I barely had a chance back then. Definitely don't have one now, either."
Her eyes seem to light up at your words, her lips stretching onto her cheeks. "Now?"
A rush of warmth spreads onto your cheeks. "Um, I mean..."
Your breath gets stuck in your throat when she gently puts her hand on top of yours, her thumb slowly caressing your skin as she looks into your orbs.
"Well, let me tell you a secret, (Y/N)..." Her voice lowers to a whisper, her lips parting away ever so slightly. "You definitely have a chance now."

have you watched queen's gambit? if you have, imagine beth harmon! darling as william's student. she is decimating every man in the chess club one day, and the whole department, even university is there to witness or join the challenge. william who happened to "stop by" casually offers to play. the game becomes actually longer and more intense. darling's confident and hungry posture falls as her objective goes from decimating her opponent to literally surviving. when he finally wins, she is humiliated badly(at least thats how she feels, william made sure no boy there insulted her intelligence at all lol) it's fun. i can see her becoming obsessed with taking him down and he is all "miss (name) can we focus on the lesson right now?"
Omg I love this idea especially because my mother insisted I play chess when I was in kindergarten all the way to my senior year and I met a girl when playing at a city championship who just reminded me of her and I played against her and she just destroyed me and then afterwards we exchanged phone numbers and we have been best friends since. Anywho that’s enough of me rambling lol.
But anywho I couldn’t play chess for the life of me anymore
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I imagine that William would hear about her when his students were talking in class. When he catches them he asks what they are talking about that is so much more important than his lesson and the boys explain that one of them who is in the chess club had just gotten miserably beat by one of the only women at the university, he was planning on challenging her again after today’s classes. Then the next day comes and William asks his student how his match went, and he gotten beat even worse than before. Then the next day William hears his entire class talking about how she beat every single boy in the club and the professor who runs it. Then he hears how everyone around the university is attempting to beat her but no one has succeeded. So one day after class, William decides to see the rumored lady in action. The chess club has never been more active, people practically pouring out the door to watch. William squeezes his way pass everyone to watch and he recognizes her from passing in the hall…
“Miss (Name), she is one of my philosophy students, taking a minor in linguistic studies as well.”
Another one of the university professors had snuck up behind him, one of philosophy professors and the chaperone of the chess club.
“I think she is in my advanced number theory class next semester-“
“W-What how?!”
William is cut off my her competitor, staring down at the board in pure shock, he had just lost but it had only been a few mere minutes. William watched as she stood up and reached out to shake her opponent’s hand but he merely stood up and walked off in a fit. She just watches him leave and doesn’t notice the footsteps approaching her and she turns her head to see the scarlet eyed professor extending his hand to her.
“Professor William James Moriarty, I teach mathematics, care for a match?”
The two sit down at the table and the game begins. To say it was a long match was and understatement, dragging on hours since there are no use of clocks in the club and it is reaching night hours when Louis gets worried about his brother and shows up to the university to see the two of them playing and she is tugging at her hair in frustration as she stares down at the board. Only a few students and professors are left watching. Then she finally makes her move, and as she is grabbing her pencil to make note of it she hears William move a piece on the board and-
“Checkmate.”
She stares down at the board in pure shock, she actually lost. She stands up and shakes his hand silently before walking off herself with her few friends from the chess club trying to make her feel better about her loss.
William goes home with Louis who immediately asks why her was still here. But all William can think about is the intelligence of this young women. Then the first semester ends and winter break comes and goes and everyone returns to campus and she begins in William’s class but before he has the chance to speak to her at the end of class she runs off, presumably to the chess club. So after finishing a bit of filing William goes as well and sees her sitting playing a game with another one of the students and having a conversation.
“I don’t know why loosing to Professor Moriarty is bothering you so much, you literally won the Nationals over winter break in London, why don’t you focus on that victory-“
“Because I won those matches and I lost miserably to Professor Moriarty, it doesn’t make sense.”
“What doesn’t make sense is the fact that you are still here, you could literally be playing against some of the best in the world if you wanted but instead you are still here of all places, why?”
“Because I want to beat him.”
He begins watching her more closely after overhearing that. He picks up on her little habits, how she shows up thirty seconds before his class starts, she packs up her things forty seconds before the bell and when class is dismissed she is always the first one out the door. As semester moves on he also notices how distracted she is getting, staring off at the ceiling and not writing anything down, the lack of work on her assignments and how she is seemingly growing more and more distant to everything, and her grade in his class is suffering because of it.
“Miss (Name), please stay after class.”
He says mere seconds before the bell rings and she is about to stand up to leave and all of her class mates stare at her as she approaches his desk instead. He scolds her for her behavior in class, telling her that he knows she is intelligent and…
Her eyes were still staring off else where…
“Can I see your bag please?”
She hesitantly hands her bag off to him and he opens it and looks through it and pulls out a bottle of pills.
“I will be talking to administration about this, you will be most likely removed from the chess club and potentially expelled.”
“…I understand.”
The next day she is sitting in her dorm room, she had not gone to class that day when a secretary from administration came knocking at her door to escort her to the main office. She is taken to the headmaster’s office where William is sitting there as well. She is also reprimanded for her behavior in her mathematics class and use of such substances and she will be removed from the chess club…
“…you would be expelled but Professor Moriarty has offered you an alternative. You will be staying at the Moriarty estate and be under his care where he will monitor your credit recover and lessons at his home since the use of such substances calls for your removal from campus.”
“…I understand.”
Her things are packed up from the dorm and she is moved into the Moriarty estate and is silent for her first few days there until he calls her downstairs to his study and there is a chess board set up on his desk.
“You have a very interesting mind, I will be honest when I say I had my own motivations in letting you stay here. I wish to understand how your mind works, so would you like to play a game?”

NON REQUESTED
AS soon as you moved the Pawn over to whatever empty square was open, you looked up to see Beth had shot you a blank expression. “What did I do now?” you ask.
“Pawns can only move one way up,” Beth took your Pawn and brought it back to its original spot. “And because you moved this,” she then swiftly makes her move, taking your piece that was shaped like a horse, before punching your clock. “I now have your Knight.”
You shook your head in disbelief. “I don’t know how you do this for fun and actually beat people at it. Checkers is less complicated.”
“You’ll get used to it,” Beth smiles. She looks down at one of your pieces. “Look at your Queen. Where would you move her?”

Falling for Beth Harmon-headcanon
Tumblr media
Requested by anon “Maybe a headcanon of being Benny's sister and falling for Beth?”
Warning- fluff
———-
If you were Benny Watts' sister and you were falling for Beth Harmon...
Well first you would have met during her first game against Benny in Cincinnati, it was after Benny was too busy talking about himself.
You approached her and told her that he was a “self-absorbed ass”, but he can be nice, Beth laughed at your comment and that’s the first thing that attracted you to her.
You didn’t talk much because she soon excused herself to keep focused on her upcoming matches, but you never get her out of your mind.
You don’t see her again though, not until she comes to New York with Benny.
And since Benny didn’t see the both of you interacting the first time you met, he introduced you again. “Beth, this is my little sister, y/n. Y/N, this—” you cut him off and offer Beth a bright grin, “yeah, we met. It’s nice to see you again Beth.”
Beth smiles and you swear that’s the best thing you’ve seen, “it’s nice to see you too.”
Since she stays for a while, you enjoy watching her and Benny’s matches, albeit you like watching her play more. You like how elegant she looks when she plays, how calm and pretty she looks.
Even if she wants to concentrate mainly on learning more, you take her out to discover more of New York; at first she doesn’t really enjoy it, she says she wants to drink, but you take her out to the cafes and to your favorite shops, you make her laugh like you had done the first time you met.
And Beth even though she didn’t say it enjoyed your company too, she likes that you can have her enjoy her day without drinking.
She also likes to make you smile.
Even if Benny caught on to what was going on between the both of you, he didn’t mention it, he just saw the sparkle in your eye when you would see her.
Albeit even if Benny could see it, you didn’t realize what you felt for her, all you knew was that you enjoyed hearing her stories, you liked seeing her laugh and smile, you enjoyed watching her play chess; you enjoyed her kindness.
All you knew was that you really wanted to kiss her, but you couldn’t, just as you were going to do it, you got interrupted by none other than Benny.
However, that was the last time you got the chance before she left for Paris. The only thing that you got the chance to do is know that what you two felt was more than friends.
You don’t realize you’ve actually fallen for her until she’s gone and even then after that it was difficult to tell her.
Beth was actually the first one to tell you; during a phone call while she was in Russia. “Oh and y/n, I love you.”

Could I request Venus by Shocking Blue + Beth Harmon, please? Thank you!
Her weapons were / Her crystal eyes / Making every man mad / Black as the dark night she was / Got what no-one else had
Fandom: The Queen’s Gambit
A/N: I hope you like it!
Word count: 217
Tumblr media
Beth had enchanted you a long time ago, back when you were at the orphanage. Her eyes were big and you could just get lost in them and she was your first crush. And after all these years, you still hadn’t brought yourself to tell her about your feelings. You had become friends, and you knew that Beth held you close to her heart. You weren’t sure if she loved you though, like you loved her.
Beth got a bunch of looks at the tournaments from men, but she seemed to be oblivious to all of them, or then she didn’t care. Besides being a new Grandmaster, she was also the Venus in the room, making everyone mad with her beauty. She had been in a dark place once, but now she was glowing like never before, all her difficulties had subsided now, she had risen up from her drug problem and you had never loved her more. You admired how strong she was, how she had risen from the ashes.
She maybe didn’t realize it, but her deep care for you was also indeed love, but for now you could only dream of holding her in your arms and dreaming of being with her one day. And that day would be the happiest of them all.
