Just to picture, for a few moments, the sheer delight and fascination as fascinates Peter Potamus and companions in Polynesian waters still uncharted on seeing natives, naked as Nature intended, diving into coral reefs quasi-primeval holding a "sink stone" in their palm to speed the descent down,

with their ur-pet dolphin, shall we say, watching the proceedings with a feeling of delight and fascination thus not uncommon-- releasing the stone about 20 feet down under the surface, feeling unashamed all along in their natural, primeval stylee of comfort, feeling so relaxed and so carefree in such a relaxed and carefree setting to the Polynesian mindframe.

And for Peter Potamus sensing the sight of such delight and wonder in the presence of most pure and wondrous human/dolphin contact, an interreaction such as it was meant to be (yet perhaps unknown to Civilisation all this time) of accepting the dolphin's love on dolphin terms excusing sexuality as the vehicle of choice in developing such a trust. Not feeling disgusted not depraved at the sight, but rather sensing fascination at such a ritual to maintain such a fascinating and yet natural closeness unto the sea,

which may seem "perverted" to the "civilised," but to such fascinating cultures, is most sacred and yet delightful in its own ways.

Some little alolan mew facts for you all!

This is mostly from watching the anime but I noticed that even if some pokemon don’t have a regional form they can have slightly different things about them

In the case of alolan mews their fur is smoother and has more of a sheen to it! It’s almost water resistant (not completely), Their tails are also much longer as well mostly for hanging onto trees and for balance

Lastly they have brighter less saturated fur tones, they start out as a paleish version of the color and gradually overtime the color and patterns start to show!

If not, I figured maybe I should also introduce Angel here. So, that's what this is (may add to this as I go):

Disclaimer: Angel is MY Octonauts OC. I am really sick of one person in particular stealing my writing and my OC and since they won't stop, I feel like all I can do is let everyone else know that I created Angel and she belongs to me.

I don’t want to age Angel up too much, so, no matter how much time goes by, she’s going to stay thirteen. I have no explanation for this, other than I don’t want to and it’s like in other cartoons where the characters are the same age for thirty years.

Backstory (Spoilers below and a trigger warning for death):

When Angel was eight, she moved from England to Australia with her parents and her three siblings.

However, one day, Angel was ten, a huge storm hit. A lightning strike set fire to their home and her mother and siblings were killed in attempts to evacuate while Angel was swept out to sea.

Angel held onto her backpack in the water and washed up on a deserted island. Six days later, Shellington found her, suffering from hypothermia and a broken foot. Luckily, the Octonauts came to her rescue, but Angel must adjust to life without her family and with an unusual new family, having learned that animals can talk. To make things worse, she's scared of Captain Barnacles.

Fortunately, she was able to get over her fear. Although, it did take her four months. She got stuck on the side of a cliff while rescuing a little penguin chick (one of Peso's cousins) and the Captain offered her his paw to pull her to safety.

The Octonauts were pretty shocked when Angel hugged the Captain after that. Until then, she would scream every time he came near her!

Thanks for the ask! And long answer alert! Again, for a reason, I’ll answer these out of order.

I’m not entirely sure what it would be like for Angel to bond with them. She’s shy and autistic, which makes things hard. Although, by that time, she would have gotten over the shock of animals talking, which might make things easier. The storm thing was good.

Angel’s sleepwalking. Oh, God! I have tons of potential scenarios for that. The most trouble she’s caused for herself is leaving the GUP-S (where they were all sleeping that night) and wandering off into a blizzard in Antarctica without a snow suit. Professor Natquik’s extraordinary hearing saved her life that night. He found her, gave her his jacket and took her back to the GUP-I- before the Octonauts even knew she was missing! (They were all asleep.)

I think the most trouble she’s caused for others is the time she grabbed the Captain’s Octo-Compass (something she does frequently) and sent out a message to every Octonaut and Octo-Agent: “Come in at four to discuss the problem. Bring hats and orange juice. I have an idea.”

Naturally, every Octo-Agent was like

And all the calls woke the Captain. He was confused at first, but quick to figure out what had happened. He went to Angel’s room and she was sound asleep, not sleepwalking or talking, but his Octo-Compass was on the floor. He took it back and apologised to everyone for the confusion. Angel didn’t even know what she’d done until she woke up five hours later. Kwazii’s greeting was, “You’re in trouble, matey!”, which scared her. The Captain assured her she wasn’t in trouble, but let her know what happened.

🐠 Honestly, Angel doesn’t do much in The Great Barrier Reef. She’d probably help make the pirate pies, but her role is very small. She only joins in for two musical numbers: “A Thousand Pies” and “Little Bit (Finale)”. She doesn’t want to see another pie after that.

“Well, guess what we’re having for dinner, matey!”

“I can eat with my eyes closed.”

🌋I do plan on posting a fic about this. (I’ll include a link when I have.) For now, a spoiler warning is in place.

Just for context, at this point, Angel is thirteen and has been living on the Octopod for three and a half years.

Angel goes with Dashi and Shellington to search for the Omura’s whale. When they end up on the island, she finds creatures who washed ashore and takes them back to the water (including her namesake angelfish!). Although, she hates that she only found them because she went behind a rock to pee.

Of course, she freaks out when they’re dealing with the volcano. However, Octonauts training video lesson 36 (dealing with stressful situations) helps her. Advice she takes from that video includes, doing something is always better than doing nothing.

Unfortunately, she has to go with them in the Mega GUP-Z to deal with the last volcano. (There wasn’t enough time to take her back to the Octopod, like they initially planned.) She is bricking it in that volcano, but manages to find creatures that need help. When the volcano finally erupts, though, she cries for the first time since her first night on the Octopod. Later on, she’s flat and has no energy. She just wants to lie in bed and block the world out. It’s supposed to be a combination of trauma and autistic burnout.

i want to talk about certain aspects of lo'ak's personality (rough, reckless) and how it affects canon scenes, as well as other na'vi.

in the comics, he attempted his iknimaya (rite of passage into adulthood/manhood) with an ikran, but the rite ultimately failed because the bond failed. the ikran bit him, and lo'ak fell, blacked out (overprotective, jake refused to permit him to try again; causing an argument with neytiri over how much of the na'vi traditions they would teach their children).

the only reason an ikran would hurt lo'ak is because the bond was not compatible. too rough. too forceful.

in another scene (in avatar: the way of water), this time while he is learning to ride an ilu, tsireya has to emphasize: "make the bond gently."

this is an important exchange, because it implies that tsireya was already aware of lo'ak's problem. earlier, he had ogled her. much earlier than that, kiri had called him "penis-face" when they were children, which jake immediately had to shut down.

it adds a greater depth to his bond with payakan, a tulkun. the bonding first had to be made without a kuru, where lo'ak even learned the metkayina's sign language with tsireya (according to a deleted scene/script, but it's pretty much implied that they learned signing from her since she is the sully siblings' teacher) in order to properly sign "friends".

lo'ak's dynamic with tsireya, who was extremely patient with him, and payakan, a traumatized tulkun who saw a rare kinship in lo'ak, are the most important relationships within the metkayina that he has. they taught him to be gentle with eywa. tsireya believed in him (and by extension, the sully family), despite himself.

were it not for tsireya, he might have never bonded with payakan. were it not for payakan, he would never have known what it meant to truly be na'vi. to truly be metkayina.
