All of these hit me on a physical, visceral level, and each one does it a little differently.

1. Hush - Deep Purple. Funky psychedelia from a metal band, Eddie would be so conflicted 🤣🤣

2. Delicate Perceptions - Pentaphobe. Weird AF experimental group that I absolutely adore

3. You Make My Dreams (Come True) - Hall & Oates. Never fails to make me smile and do a little shoulder jig

4. Happy Together - Filter. I love a good metal cover of a pop song, it scratches a peculiar itch in my brain

5. 1998 (20th Anniversary Remix), Binary Finary (IMHO the best dance/trance track in existence, and as a bonus, is also the answer to the question “Kittie, how did you spend the 90s?” 😛)

Binary Finary - "1998" (played by Armin van Buuren in Utrecht, Netherlands) 2010 Trance / Uplifting Trance / Progressive Trance

I've always found this whole pack-out-an-arena-to-watch-a-DJ-play-records phenomenon to be really awkward. A DJ's not a band and they never will be. People need space to dance to the music and packing them in like sardines to watch someone play other people's tunes on stage is just strange. If there's a dancefloor or it's outside on festival grounds where you can create a little bit of distance from other people, it's fine, but something about this particular type of indoor set-up will always feel off to me, particularly. DJs should be either behind a curtain, off to the side, or above a dancefloor, and unless you're there to learn how to become a DJ yourself, I feel like standing there and staring at them is a very weird thing to do. Just my opinion, though, I guess.

Anyway, here's part of a set by Armin van Buuren that he played in 2010 in an arena in Utrecht, Netherlands, as part of a DVD release he did called Armin Only: Mirage. I post it because he's playing one of my favorite trance tunes, UK duo Binary Finary's uplifting classic, "1998." Joining him on stage is fellow Dutchman Benno De Goeij, with whom he had formed a duo called Gaia in 2000.

Judging from the sound of the tracks I can deduce that it's from someone around NYC circa 2001 (completely logical). Its not cheesy enough to be pleasurehead but too cheesey to be from the caffeine crew.

They just dropped a remix of 1998 from binary finary....
