Finding the Perfect Florist: Tips for Choosing a Reliable Floral Partner
Flowers have a unique way of adding beauty and emotion to any occasion, from birthdays and weddings to anniversaries and just-because moments. However, the key to making these moments truly special lies in choosing a reliable florist who can deliver stunning arrangements and exceptional service. Here's your guide to finding the perfect florist to meet your needs.
Start with a Clear Vision: Before you begin your search, it's essential to have a clear idea of what you want. Whether you need a simple bouquet or an elaborate wedding arrangement, knowing your preferences will help you communicate effectively with potential florists.
Quality of Flowers: When it comes to flowers, freshness and quality are non-negotiable. Look for florists who offer a wide selection of fresh flowers online. At Whitehorse Flowers, we pride ourselves on providing the freshest blooms that are sure to impress.
Local Expertise: Choosing a local florist has its advantages. They understand the local climate and can source the best seasonal flowers. Whether you are in Florist Balwyn, Florist Auburn, or Florist Hawthorn, opting for a nearby florist ensures timely delivery and personalized service.
Review Their Portfolio: A florist’s portfolio is a window into their creativity and style. Browse through their previous work to see if their design aesthetic matches your vision. If you're in Florist Box Hill or Florist Camberwell, checking out their portfolio can give you an idea of what to expect.
Personalized Service: A reliable florist will offer personalized consultations to understand your needs and preferences. They should be willing to listen to your ideas and provide expert advice to enhance your floral arrangements. Florists like Florist Auburn and Florist Blackburn are known for their attentive service and bespoke designs.
Transparent Pricing: Ensure that the florist provides clear and transparent pricing. Ask for a detailed quote that includes all costs, such as delivery fees and any additional services. This transparency helps avoid any surprises and allows you to plan your budget effectively.
Customer Reviews and Testimonials: Reading customer reviews and testimonials can provide valuable insights into a florist's reliability and quality of service. Positive feedback from previous clients is a good indicator of a florist's commitment to excellence. Florists with a strong reputation, such as those at Florist Hawthorn, often have glowing reviews that highlight their dedication to customer satisfaction.
Delivery Options: Reliable delivery is crucial when it comes to flowers. Ensure that the florist offers flexible and dependable delivery options to ensure your flowers arrive fresh and on time. This is particularly important for special events where timing is everything.
In conclusion, finding a reliable florist involves a combination of research, clear communication, and attention to detail. By following these tips, you can ensure that your floral arrangements are not only beautiful but also perfectly suited to your needs. Ready to find your perfect floral partner? Guest Muses (for now)
Delaney Blackburn -
Age: 41
Gender: female
Sexuality: Bisexual
Species: human
Fc: Emma Stone
Appearance: long red hair, dark blue eyes, fair skin, freckles.
Personality: Aggressive, ambitious, protective, somewhat territorial, loyal, stubborn, a trickster, silver tongue, flirtatious, fun, outgoing, highly intelligent, proud nerd.
Relationship: Wife to Luke and mother to his kids.
Occupation: Contract Lawyer
Background: Delaney grew up in one of the few remaining Satanic witch covens in Georgia, but stopped practicing when she was a teenager for a number of reasons. She didn’t like how her coven leaders were treating the younger members. Her faith was waning because she didn’t feel like Satan was listening to her or anyone else. She hated having to hide so much of who she was from her mostly Christian classmates, which resulted in her being an outcast. College was an opportunity for her to make some big changes, and she took it wholeheartedly, experimenting with her personality, sexuality, hobbies, etc. When she first met Luke, she felt a connection unlike any other she’d made before. She knew she had to find a way to marry him! She didn’t start figuring out his true identity until later on in their relationship, thinking he might be the Antichrist at first, then realizing that he was actually Lucifer in mortal form. She became even more devoted to him then, determined to break his curse, or at the very least help him regain his memories. Lilith’s intervention put such a strain on their relationship that she wasn’t sure they would survive. Delaney was the one who brought up opening their marriage in an effort to relieve some of the strain, which Luke thankfully agreed to, but also explained that she was only being distant because she was working very hard on something that he couldn’t know about yet. Soon, but not yet.
Vigoraunt -
Age: 100+
Gender: male
Sexuality: Bisexual (strong preference for men, switch)
Species: Incubus
Fc: Cody Fern
Appearance: curly blond hair, bright blue eyes, tanned skin, fair features.
Demonic Form: pink and red highlights in hair, pink highlights on skin, blue eyes with black sclera, red horns, pink tail with a red heart at the end, sharp fangs and claws.
Personality: Charming only when he has to be, anger issues, loyal, determined, protective, a bit of a pyromaniac, vindictive, rebellious, has recently started using music as an outlet for his aggression (plays guitar), still gets into fist fights with mortals who try stupid shit, surprisingly patient with kids.
Occupation: Curio shop clerk, chaos inducer(former, basically his job as an incubus was to stir up trouble in the mortal world), Florist(former, back when he was mortal)
Background: Vigoraunt remembers bits and pieces of his mortal life. He knows he was a florist by the name of Victor in a small village outside of London, that he had a lengthy affair with a handsome nobleman, that there was a young lady who was eager to win his affections but unsuccessful. She kept pursuing him anyway, despite his rejections getting harsher with every attempt. When she found out who his heart truly belonged to, she declared to the village that his noble lover had bewitched him, seducing him into a sinful life of debauchery. There was a riot. The memory of his lover screaming, tied up and burning at the stake, is forever burned into his mind. Victor was naturally furious and heartbroken, and when he was at his most vulnerable, an incubus swept him off his feet and made him a deal: sweet revenge in exchange for a night of passion. Vig barely remembers burning the treacherous lady’s house down around her, but he remembers every moment of being used by the demon until his body was broken. He remembers awakening in hell, chained to the same incubus that had killed him. He remembers Lucifer himself breaking those chains and punishing the incubus for murdering him, as he’d never agreed to give up his soul. He remembers becoming an incubus himself, rising through the ranks over the course of a century of raising cain up in the mortal realm. His loyalty to the Morningstar never faltered, and when he heard of Lilith’s betrayal, he became determined to find the now mortal Prince of Lies and bring him back. It took decades, and things got…complicated. Due to a ritual he cast with Delaney, he now shares part of Lucifer’s power and life force with her and Luke to keep Luke from being crushed by it. He hopes to help Luke regain full strength, but will take quite a while. In the meantime, Vigoraunt has elected to take up a position at a local curio shop and stay with Luke and Delaney as one of their partners. He also got conned into being the guitarist for Jayden’s new rock band.

“Happy birthday sweetheart,” Dad grinned through the camera.
“Thanks pops,” you smiled, trying to stay awake, as it was currently 2am for you, but traditions weren’t going to be broken, for as long as you could remember you would get a call in the early hours of the morning off Dad on your birthday if he was on deployment. “Are you coming home today?”
“Like I’d miss my little girl's birthday,” Dad grinned, “I should be home before you wake up, we are wheels up in 30 minutes.”
“I can’t wait,” you said, following it up with a yawn, trying to hide it with the hoodie you were wearing. Luckily the lights were off in the living room and you only had the small lamp on so Dad couldn’t see that it was one of Clay’s. “It’s been a long three months, I just want you all home now.”
“I know Princess, and we will be home soon,” Dad smiled, “Now get some sleep kiddo, I love you.”
“I love you to Dad,” you smiled, ending the call and closing your laptop, and unlocking your phone, to see a few texts from Clay.
You were struggling to stay awake but refused to give into sleep until the team was wheels up, but the moment you sent the last text, you couldn’t stay awake any longer, and gave into sleep, snuggled up on the sofa under the blanket.
Eric quietly walked into the house, dropping his bags at the bottom of the stair, the sun was just coming up and the house was still quiet. Rolling his eyes as he noticed the lamp was still on in the living room, once he kicked his boots off he wandered into the room to turn the lamp off and his heart melted.
He couldn’t help but smile as he saw you curled up on the sofa, phone still in hand, and your teddy you always slept with when he was on deployment. He didn’t think you would steal his heart any more but you always managed to. It didn’t matter that you were now 28, in his eyes you would always be his baby. It also wasn’t the first time you slept on the sofa waiting for him to come home.
“Hey baby,” Eric whispered, crouching down so he was level with the sofa, brushing some of the hair off your face. “You fell asleep on the sofa.”
“Hey pops,” you grinned, voice horse from just waking up. “Good flight home?”
“It was okay, the boys did my head in again.” He chuckled, kissing the top of your head, “come on go climb in bed for a couple more hours, I will go get stuff for breakfast and come wake you when it’s ready.”
As he watched you slowly head up to bed, he noticed the hoodie you were wearing and he was sure he had seen that hoodie before, it was definitely the hoodie that Clay gave you the night of the bbq three months ago. Why would you still be wearing it three months later?
Shaking the thoughts off, he slipped his trainers on, before grabbing his car keys to head to the shops. First stop the local florist for the other tradition he had on your birthday. Ever since you were young he would always buy a bunch of flowers on your birthday, and it would be something he did till the day he died.
The drive to the florist was quiet, there weren't any other cars on the road, as he parked up he noticed Clay’s Nova parked out front, why would Clay be buying flowers?
Walking into the shop he smiled at the girl behind the counter, but he noticed that the conversation ended abruptly as he walked in.
“Good morning Eric,” Rose smiled, “I have your order ready, let me grab it from the back. I have to say this is the best bunch you have chosen this year.”
“Only the best for my little girl,” he smiled at her, as she disappeared into the back room he turned to Clay, “Why are you here?”
“I’m buying flowers,” Clay shrugged.
“Yeah but why?” Eric asked, “I’ve never seen you in here before.”
“Urm,” Clay mumbled, “They are for a family friend, she’s going through some things at the moment and I wanted to cheer her up a bit.” He said lying through his teeth.
“She must be special for you to be buying flowers straight off deployment, rather than heading home to sleep.” Eric questioned raising his brow at his youngest member of Bravo.
“Yeah she is,” Clay smiled.
“Eric, here you go my dear.” Rose grinned, walking out of the back with the bunch of flowers in her arms, “and here is a little something for Y/N from me.”
“Oh you don’t have to do that.” Eric smiled softly, taking the flowers and box of chocolates off her. “But thank you. She’s going to love these.”
“Got to look after our loyal customers,” She smiled.
“I appreciate that,” he smiled, “I will see you around and Clay I will see you at the Bulkhead tonight.”
The moment Eric left the shop, Clay let out a breath, that was a close one.
“Don’t want the boss to know you are seeing his daughter aye?” Rose chuckled.
“No it’s not like that,” Clay said.
“Oh please, I’ve seen many things in this little shop and I heard your cover story, but a bit of advice sweetie, come clean about everything, Eric is an understanding man I’m sure if you were open with him things will be fine,” she smiled as she wrapped up the flowers.
“I’m not sure about that,” Clay half laughed, pulling his wallet out.
“They are on the house darling,” Rose grinned, “I’m a sucker for young love so this one is on me.”
Tumblr media
The moment Clay laid eyes on you, his breath got caught in his throat and he swore his heart stopped. You looked like an Angel, the white lace dress flattered your body, like it was made for you. And in this moment he didn’t care, he made a b-line straight to you, pulling you into his arms.
“Happy birthday baby,” he whispered in your ear, receiving a questioning look from Eric.
“Thanks,” you giggled, looking in his eyes, trying not to get lost in them. “Let’s get the party started, aye.” You shouted as Metal handed you a shot followed by a beer.
You never had to worry about buying the drinks when you were out with the boys, they always had you covered. And due to it being your birthday they had opened a tab up so the night was bound to get messy. You couldn’t help but grin as you felt Clay press his chest against your back, his hands landing on your hips, his breath tickling the back of your neck.
“My Dad could be watching,” You giggled, leaning back into him.
“I don’t care, I just want to hold my babygirl for a moment.” Clay hummed.
Eric couldn’t hear the conversation fro where he was stood but he wasn’t keen on just how close Clay was pressed up against you, he had noticed a couple of things over the evening, the stolen glances, the quick touches and now this.
“Have you noticed anything different with Y/N and Clay?” He asked Jason.
“Nothing out of the ordinary,” Jase shrugged, narrowing his eyes at the two of you at the bar. “I’m going to get another drink.”
Without another word he stormed up to the bar, pushing his way over to you.
“You know if you don’t want anyone to know you are together, stop making it so fucking obvious.” Jase growled. “You dad is asking if I have noticed anything different with you two and I have just had to lie. So get your act together.”
You couldn’t make eye contact with Jase, you knew the look he was giving you without looking, you had seen it plenty of times before.
“Okay,” You nodded, grabbiing your drink and wiggling out of the way of the boys, going outside to get some fresh air.
You hated lying to everyone and you wanted nothing more than to shout your love from the roof top but you were scared of your Dad’s reaction. It didn’t take long for Clay to join you.
“You okay baby?” He asked, linking his fingers with yours, brushing his thumb over your hand.
“Yeah, I think so,” You nodded, “Be better if you kissed me though.”
“That can be arranged, babygirl.” He winked, placing his beer on the wall, pushing you back against the wall.
The moment your lips connected, it was like nothing else mattered, it was just the two of you in your own little world. Automatically you wrapped your arms around his neck, tangling your hands in his hair, as he deepened the kiss. You thought you were alone out here so it didn’t matter how heated things got.
Until a voice boomed from behind you, making you jump and nervous for what was about to happen.
“What the fuck is going on?” Metall shouted, making you and Clay pull apart.
“Fuck,” You breathed, jumping away from Clay.
“Yes fuck indeed kiddo.”

TLC Wedding Planner AU
Okay... hear me out. I usually hate modern aus, but i had this idea and how I can’t get it out of my head.  I need to write this, but I already have too many series to work on as is. Anyway... The rampion crew doesn’t all work together all the time, in fact this is the first job all of them have together and let’s just say it gets interesting.
Cinder Linh
Organizer--the actual wedding planner, if you will.
She’s a rookie, but a damn good one.
Up and coming in the wedding industry. people have started asking for her by name, much to her surprise.
Winter’s cousin, Iko’s best friend, and Jacin’s childhood friend.
Kai Rikan
Officiant
He’s a one of the groom’s (Torin) adopted son, so he got his officiant license online of course.
doesn’t plan to officiate any other weddings. That might change.
doesn’t know any of these people, but he saw the wedding planner bossing Thorne around and thought “damn that woman is amazing.”
Iko Bazzi (bazzi is just a random egyptian surname i decided on)
Hair and makeup
well known in the wedding community. having her do your hair costs a pretty penny
worked with Cinder a lot, it’s part of the reason Cinder is starting to get popular--iko recommends her.
Cinder’s best friend, somehow knows everyone they’re working with?
Scarlet and Wolf
Catering
decently known, but not popular
haven’t worked with Cinder before, but have heard good things so they’re looking forward to it.
they have worked with Thorne before and they barely tolerate him.
have been married for a few years and are adorably in love.
Crescent Darnel
Singer
extremely new to the wedding business, like... this is her first job. even though her voice is beautiful, she wasn’t able to land parts in musicals or record deals, so she decided to try this instead.
fewer and fewer people are opting for live music these days, so she’s struggling to make it.
hasn’t worked with cinder before but hopes to work with her more
Carswell Thorne (tries to go by Captain, but no one goes along with it)
Decorator
kinda on the same level as Scarlet and Wolf. He’s not overly popular but he’s not doing bad.
Has worked with Cinder many times and loves to annoy her. despite that, they’re good friends.
Winter Hayle-Blackburn
Designer

In my MIT studies in Floristry, I was told that 'a good florist should be able to make an arrangement from anything.' This was a challenge that I began to apply to objects outside of this field. The conversations around objects and their power to both hold value and add value. The book by Jennifer Van Horn; The power of Objects in the Eighteenth-century British America. She talks about this aspect of objects. She uses the in the introduction the works by Joseph Blackburn, a portrait painter in the 18th Century. Blackburn was commisioned by early settler merchants, to paint their portraits. The portrait of Francis Jones who was the President of Bermuda. The work featured Francis Jones sitting at his desk with an open letter in hand. In the corner of the painting is what appears to be a painting hanging on the wall with a faint outline of a ship sailing out into the horizon. This painting of Blackburn served two purposes. It provided the sitter Francis Jones the opportunity to communicate to the viewers both his status and wealth, whilst at the same time giving Blackburn a form of advertisement for his work as an artist. This led to more commissions amongst Francis Jones affluent circles of aquaintances.
Van Horn was presenting the idea of the multifaceted influence and impact of objects.
This multifaceted power that object's hold, is what makes working with readymade and found objects so exciting. The ability of an object to bring layers of meaning as signifiers gives the work that is made their value. This responsibility that I give to the objects in my work is why the selection of each object is important. The objects are chosen for their aesthetic quality, but being fully aware that the viewers may see and encounter the works in a very different way from me. The readings if the works and what it could say is left open as my interest is not to dictate to the possible readings of the work but to make work that satisfy my aesthetic requirements.
These requirements are from a design perspective. The presence of the work in the space is determined by my utilising of the elements and principles of design to construct the
work.
My relationship to the materials and objects are to do with the composition, placement and the visual presence of the work in the space.
Tumblr media
As in this piece here. While it is still in its experimental stage, the consideration is given mainly on how it looks visually. This aesthetic demand is tge one I seek to satisfy, this is the only requirement that I am putting on the process. The rest is left to what the objects used, could imply or bring to the work.
This is a place I am relieved to have finally arrived to. I am aware of the anti-beauty discussions that exist in art history and the push away from art for arts sake's conversations that have gone on. I am not making a case for beauty or for ornamentations, I simply want to put together combinations of objects that satisfy my need for well proportioned, arrangements.
This to me is the case of an itch that I need to scratch. This need to satisfy my own demands on objects is what is giving energy and fueling my making so far. I am compelled to exhaust all of this fuel and energy to see where it leads and what may emerge from it.

‘Musician’s Priest’ honored Mike Palmer given Dr. T.R. Bryan Award, inducted in Hall of Fame

Mike Palmer is known to many as “The Musician’s Priest” because of the sound advice and support he gives to players from beginning students to seasoned professionals.
And, few folks have been as supportive of the local music scene than Palmer.
For these efforts, Palmer, 64, the owner of Main Street Music and Loan, was honored with the Dr. T.R. Bryan Wilkes Heritage Music Award.
The award was presented Friday evening during the 2019 inductions of the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame, which was held at the Wilkes Heritage Museum in Wilkesboro.
In his memory, the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame Trustees have partnered with the Wilkes Acoustic Folk Society to the create the Dr. T.R. Bryan Wilkes Heritage Music Award. This annual award is given to a person who has contributed to music on a local level in Wilkes County. Members of the Wilkes Acoustic Folk Society nominate three candidates each year, and past recipients of the award nominate two candidates. All recipients are considered members of the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame and are awarded with a special plaque.
Musician Bill Williams, who received the award last year, presented the plaque to Palmer during Friday evening’s inductions.
During a Friday morning interview with The Record, Palmer said, “It never crossed my mind that I’d receive this award because I didn’t think I was qualified for it. I just do what I do. I’ve never looked for recognition.”
Palmer knew Dr. Bryan well.
“He was the doctor of both my children,” he said, “And he delivered my daughter, Kristin. When we would have picking parties at the house, Dr. Bryan and Ruth were always there. I have some video of him singing along to the top of his voice. His profession was being a doctor, but he was a great family man and music was a great part of his life. Music was his peace of mind. He supported music in Wilkes County in many ways. And Ruth did, too. If he was there, she was right by his side.”
As for the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame, Palmer said, “It’s a great organization. They are bringing to the forefront what really happens here. Like (the late) Tut Taylor said, ‘Behind every tree in Wilkes County there’s a musician.’”
Born and raised in Wilkes, Palmer is the son of a barber father, Jim, and florist mother, Grace, who learned the ethics of hard work at an early age. Those ethics have carried him through life.
Palmer first became interested in music at the age of 5 when he got his first guitar. Some of his heroes were Johnny Cash, Chet Atkins and Doc Watson. Honing his skills into that of a talented musician, he went on to actually play music with two of those heroes – Atkins and Watson. And, Palmer has appeared on stages across the country and at home, including MerleFest and ChickenFest.
More recently, Palmer is well known as the host of the former WKBC Radio’s Hometown Opry, which ran for 12 years. This was a weekly radio show featuring live Americana music from regional, national and international bands and musicians. The show, which was held at Palmer’s business, Main Street Music & Loan, was videotaped and shown on Charter Cable.
Palmer has been one of the most passionate and dedicated promoters of music and musicians in Wilkes County and the Blue Ridge Mountain Region. He embraces all genres. Through his work he has not only helped musicians to network with other players, but helped them find venues at which to perform.
Throughout the years, he has served on the board of directors of The Wilkes Acoustic Folk Society, Cultural Arts Council of Wilkes, N.C. Thumb and Finger Pickers Association, and the Advisory Board of Wilkes Community College’s John A. Walker Community  Center.
Palmer has worked as a MerleFest volunteer since the music festival began in 1988. There he has served in various capacities including emceeing and performing during the annual tribute to Bill Young — a close friend to Palmer and one of the festival’s inaugural organizers.
Palmer has been a financial supporter of the JAM Program in Virginia, the Wayne Henderson Music Festival, ChickenFest (where he also performs), Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 and the Lazarus Project.
He was also at the forefront of organizing the annual Apple Jam, which is a musical kickoff to the yearly Brushy Mountain Apple Festival held in Downtown North Wilkesboro.
Palmer and various musician friends have volunteered musical performances for non-profit groups such as the Ruby Pardue Blackburn Adult Day Health Care Center and the Wilkes Heritage Museum.
Palmer and his wife, Cathy, a talented vocalist, enjoy performing together at their church, Fairplains Baptist.
He vows to continue to support the local music scene.
“I still push every day to get instruments into the hands of a child. I want to promote music and teach anyone I can to play.”
As for the future of Wilkes’ music, he said, “I think it will be stronger in the years to come. I have to give Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro credit. They are providing really good music, music of all styles. They are catering to all the listeners they can.”
He added, “Look at the doors that MerleFest has opened to people worldwide. There are people who have come from all over the world who have bought property here and want to be a part of this music scene. Look what ChickenFest has done. Look at the different musicians who play there. And look what a great festival Carolina in the Fall has grown into. There are heavyweight sponsors that help make this happen. If you don’t believe the music scene here is strong, look at what goes on at the VFW every Saturday night. Look at the Wilkes Acoustic Folk Society. And we can’t forget what Steve Handy and Ed Racey at WKBC Radio have done for local music. You have a pretty full calendar to follow if you try to keep up with the music in Wilkes.
Palmer and his wife, Cathy, live in the Mulberry Community. They have a son, John, 30; and daughter, Kristin, 26.
