These Sterling Silver Engagement Rings Are a Dazzling Testament
When it comes to engagement rings, couples often search for a perfect balance between beauty and affordability. One option that continues to dazzle without breaking the bank is sterling silver jewellery in Brantford, ON.
Sterling silver has gained popularity as a more budget-friendly choice for those who want a stunning ring without the hefty price tag. But what makes sterling silver so special, and is it right for you?
Let's explore the pros, cons, and maintenance tips for these shimmering rings.
The Benefits of Sterling Silver Rings
Sterling silver rings are often praised for their brilliant, bright appearance, closely resembling white gold or platinum. What makes them even more attractive is their affordability, making them a go-to option for couples on a budget.
The beauty of sterling silver lies in its luxurious appearance allowing brides to find a wide range of designs that fit their unique style.
Another bonus? Sterling silver lab grown diamonds in Brantford, ON are hypoallergenic, making them suitable for those with sensitive skin. It’s also a versatile metal that can be molded into various intricate designs, giving you plenty of options for personalization.
The Drawbacks to Consider
However, sterling silver comes with a few drawbacks. The biggest one is maintenance. While its stunning shine is undeniable, it doesn’t last forever without proper care. Sterling silver can tarnish over time, and you will need to get your ring re-dipped or polished once a year.
Since sterling silver is softer than other metals like yellow gold jewellery in Brantford, ON, or platinum, it may not withstand everyday wear as well. You will need to care properly for your ring and avoid handling it roughly.
Caring for Your Sterling Silver Ring
To ensure your sterling silver ring keeps its luster, a few simple care tips go a long way. Make sure to remove the ring before showering or washing your hands and avoid harsh chemicals like hand sanitizer, which can accelerate tarnishing.
Only use cleaners and cloths designed specifically for sterling silver. With proper care, sterling silver engagement rings can maintain their sparkle for many years.
The Bottom Line
These rings are a stunning option for couples looking to blend beauty and affordability for a classic look.
While these rings may require more upkeep than gold or platinum, their brilliant shine, elegance, and versatility make them a favorite among budget-conscious brides.

"BURGLARY CHARGE TRIAL IS OPENED," Brantford Expositor. January 23, 1933. Page 11. --- Firman De Palma Alleged to Have Been One of Quartet ---- A large crowd of spectators, that made the S. R. O. sign appear, heard an interesting case as the charge of burglary against Firman De Palma, Albion street was started in police court to-day. The man was charged with being one of four men, named in court as the accused. Gorden Lane, James Wright, jun., and Reginald Brown, who broke into the show window of the Dominion House Furnishings store situated at 87-89 Colborne street. This was late on the night of January 11.
Gordon Lane had already been charged and tried and is awaiting judgment. After a long hearing, Magistrate S. A. Jones deferred judgment for one week. Lane was brought back to give evidence for De Palma. Both men swore that Wright and Brown had the coals that were dropped near the Expositor office front steps when P. C. Roshier appeared in order to arrest the quartet. Brown and Wright got away. Max White, owner of the coats and proprietor of the Do- minion House Furnishings positively identified them as the four that were in his show case window that night.
De Palma's defense was that he was at home at the time of the robbery. He admitted being with the other three men that night but being "nearly drunk" had left the others at 10.45 p.m. and went home, falling at the Bell Memorial and cutting his hand. His mother band- aged his hand and he started downtown again at 12.30 p.m. and was arrested at the rear of the Bell Memorial.
Crown Attorney W. M. Charlton and A. H. Boddy went over the evening's doings very carefully. Witnesses were brought to swear that De Palma was downtown at the time he said he was in the house, Sergeant Sawkins arrested De Palma at 12.20 p.m. The mother and brother of the accused swore that accused did not leave the house on the second occasion until 12.30 p.m.
Asked why he ran away when confronted by P. C. Roshier who had been watching the suspicious actions of the four men, the accused said he was quite drunk and he did not want to face a charge of intoxication, as it would have been his third offense and pretty serious.
He said he left his home again at 12.15 p.m. against his mother's wishes and as he crossed the Bell Memorial grounds was arrested by Sergeant Sawkins. He had changed his coat when he came out. Why, he did not know, but he had been wearing his light overcdat when uptown in the first part of the night. His brother Romeo said that the dark coat Firman was wearing at the time of the arrest, was his.
Firman denied all knowledge of the robbery. He met Wright, and Brown running away from the scene and then at the side entrance to the Arcade met Lane and he had a drink. Both Brown and Wright had bundles which he thought were clothes. He came to the corner of Queen and Dalhousie streets with Brown, Wright and Lane. It was here he saw Roshier who had commandeered a car and jumped on the four men. He left hurriedly. going home and then coming out with his brother's coat on, ostensibly to get a cup of coffee.
During the evidence Magistrate Jones, trying to elucidate some evidence, asked the witness if he could read and write. The witness said he had been born in this country, but could not read or write. When asked whether he went east or west on this occasion the witness said he did not know which was east or west. When asked by the court, he knew London "was this way and Hamilton was that way" but he did not know which place was east or which was west.
Much evidence was heard, his worship reserving judgment for one week.

Indie-Funk Band Action Forever Shares Troubled Romance on Danceable Track, “In The Dead of Night”
Tumblr media
Sim Bansal of Action Forever, grew up in Brantford, Ontario. His obsession with music began at age five and, for the next two decades, his natural talents were fostered by a musical family upbringing and constant exposure to a unique and eclectic mix of influences ranging namely from 80’s pop, to progressive rock, to jazz and Indie.
For years, he has been working on a body of original fringe-pop music for a 4-piece band, now being released under the name Action Forever. The music, while lively, electric, melodic and danceable, explores darker themes such as loneliness in a digital age, abusive relationships, loss of identity, and mental health.
The semi-autobiographical track, “In The Dead of Night,” is a reflection on the obvious downsides of being in a long distance relationship – not being able to hold your partner in your arms, look into their eyes, or hear their real voice next to you. For Sim, he started to believe the seed for the song, in part, came from a feeling of codependence. Upon analyzing what he’d written – in the moment, sort of quickly and instinctively, those lyrics struck him as more troubled than romantic.
Though there is a lot of tension between the characters of the song, Sim wanted to make something upbeat and danceable to accentuate this feeling of stress and urgency. In addition, the counter melodies in the second verse were inspired by little musical carousel toys.

Born in the U.S.A.
I know. It is Wednesday. Where was I on Monday? One of our girls from another province came to visit and was here so I gave my full attention to her. The interns said they would cover for me but when I got back from the airport today and went to the office I found them all there staring at each other. Well not completely as one of them was chewing on the power cord for my laptop. If it wasn't so close to Christmas I would have a word with them. Truth be told once it is past Christmas none of them will remember this in all likelihood so I guess they get a free pass. That aside, on with the blog.
I was watching a biography of one of my favorite bands. The one called the Band. Maybe I like them because they have as much imagination naming things as I do. (When I was a kid I had a dog named Spot. Guess what pattern his fur had) The narrator began by saying they were one of the greatest American bands of all times, the U.S. answer to the Beatles. I almost went through the TV screen at him but luckily I remembered he wasn't actually in there.
In case you are not aware, The Band had five members, 4, Canadians and 1 American. I guess their math tells them that 1 American is greater than 4 Canadians. I know there is an exchange rate but come on please! Must they take credit for everything? I guess we all know the answer to that one. This is not a one time thing, and it is actually built into their laws. Let me enlighten you.
If you were born in another country but moved to the states and lived there for 50 years you are not eligible to become president. If you were born in the states, move away for 50 years and come back, you can become president. Who knew that American sperm and eggs were this important? Maybe Nick Cannon.
America's Sweetheart. Mary Pickford was actually born in Toronto (her real name is Gladys so you can see why they change some names for the movies) She didn't move to the states until she was a teenager. They loved her so they kept her. Called her America's Sweetheart so that no one would suspect she was not from there. Sneaky bastards.
Alexander Graham Bell, listed as one of the greatest American inventors of all time, Born in Scotland, and did all of his research and inventing in Canada. (Brantford actually but they also have Gretzky so they don't need to claim both). He will be an American icon until phones start controlling their owners and then he will be vilified as that Scottish evil man. They won't mention Canada because frankly most of them still believe we are part of their country.
Any tall basketball player from Africa. They get them American citizenship as soon as possible so they can use them in the Olympics. They need to keep their dominance streak going.
Superman. This is a tricky one. As a fictional character he was born on another planet, the brainchild of a CANADIAN cartoonist. (He put the stories in a big American city because he wanted him to fight crime and that made it more realistic, plus he wanted to make a lot of money off of it. I will give him a pass). So we end up with a great American alien hero, but now they want to keep all the aliens out. Go figure. At least based on their laws they can never vote him in to be president which is a shame. I would love to see him make Putin openly weep or crap his pants again.
Ted Cruz. He was born in Calgary but through a loophole, or broken condom his American father put on or something like that he can become president. All I can say is I am glad they made this exception and he is not running for PM up here.
THOUGHT OF THE WEEK: There are lots of wonderful, inventive people that have changed the world. Let's celebrate the diversity of their origin stories.

We are proud carousel nerds. 🎠 Carousel, carrousel, or merry-go-round.... Whatever you call them....we love them. We will happily go for a ride whenever we see one. 🎠 After several years of hoping and trying to see & ride the Roseneath Carousel, we finally made it. It is only open during a short window- Sundays between 1-3pm, from Victoria Day to Thanksgiving Weekend, making it challenging to visit. 🎠 Built in 1906, by C.W.Parker in Abilene, Tx It has 40 basswood horses and 2 boats, all with full motion. There are 3 horses abreast. The music is provided by a 1934 Wurlitzer 125 Military Band Organ. It was Once located in Brantford's Mohawk park, where directors of the Roseneath Agricultural society found and purchased it for $675 in 1932. 🎠 We had so much fun riding this vintage carousel and chatting with the volunteers who operate and maintain the carousel. Smith, M.L.A., both representatives of the South Essex riding, joined in the celebration of Entancipation Day at Amherstburg yesterday. Hundreds from all parts of the county were present for the festivities. Women of the First Baptist Church, of Amherstburg, shown in the picture above along with Messrs. Gott and Smith, and J. H. Alexander, of Amherstburg, played a prominent part in the success of the outing. "Freedom Is Celebrated," Border Cities Star. August 2, 1933. Page 5. ---- Rain Cancels Speeches And Emancipation Day Sports ---- At Amherstburg ---- But Colored Folk Enjoy Themselves Just As Much Anyway ---- Hundreds of colored folk gathered at Amherstburg yesterday to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the emancipation proclamation that abolished slavery in the British Empire. TO CELEBRATE CENTENARY That proclamation, designed to abolish slavery within seven years following its issuance, accomplished its object in five years. As a result, plans were discussed yesterday for a monster colored celebration to be held at Amherstburg five years hence to mark the centenary of emancipation.
Rain interfered with yesterday's holiday at the 'burg, making the usual speeches impossible. Eccles J. Gott, M.P., and Austin B. Smith, K.C., M. L. A., were present during the afternoon, prepared to address the gathering, but a heavy shower at the hour when speeches were scheduled resulted in that part of the program being cancelled.
Although recurring showers interrupted the outing several times during the afternoon they did not prevent the colored folks present from enjoying the holiday. Automobiles parked around the Amherstburg municipal park, where the celebration was held, provided shelter during the rain. And within a few minutes after each shower the "doings" were in full swing again.
A baseball game between Windsor and Amherstburg had been planned, but the rain resulted in the postponement of this feature of the day, too.
MASONS IN CHARGE Lincoln Lodge, No. 8, F. & A. M., was in charge of the holiday, with the First Baptist Church of Amherstburg also playing a prominent part. Color- ed folks from Essex and Kent Counties, as well as from various points in Michigan, participated in the celebration.
McCallum's Toy Band, organized by Clifford McCallum, "the blind professor," made a big hit during the afternoon, leading the parade. The band included 24 little colored children playing toy instruments.
Several stoves were installed at the park early in the day to provide the celebrators with a real southern-style barbecue. Fried fish, fried chicken, pies, and other delicacies, were prepared continuously by willing cooks and were never without ready customers. Those who enjoyed the elaborate spread provided by the cooks and picnic baskets, and that included just about everyone present, didn't seem to be worrying at all about the cancellation of the sports and speaking program. Ice cream and watermelon vied with hot dogs and cold drinks for the popularity prize between the regular meals.
The celebration concluded with a big dance in the town hall during the evening.

Action Forever Debuts “Loveless Love”
Tumblr media
Sim, the bandleader of Action Forever, grew up in Brantford, Ontario. His obsession with music began at age five and, for the next two decades, his natural talents were fostered by a musical family upbringing and constant exposure to a unique and eclectic mix of influences ranging from 80’s pop, to progressive rock, to jazz and indie.
He’d been working for years on a body of original fringe-pop music for a 4-piece band, now to be released under the name Action Forever. The music, while lively, electric, melodic, and danceable, explores darker themes such as loneliness in a digital age, abusive relationships, loss of identity, and mental health.
“Loveless Love,” the latest single from the group, was written by Sim from the POV of a man suffering from online sex addiction and parasocial relations.
“Loosely, the song tells the story of a man who is entranced by the world of live online sex, so much so that he gives up who he is: his morals, his dreams, his money, etc. for virtual transactional relationships with performers which he ultimately falls in “love” with”  I want the listener to feel the tension of the main character’s struggle - the struggle of addiction.”

THE FLIGHT OF CROWS
The autumn afternoon is dying o'er The quiet western valley where I lie Beneath the maples on the river shore, Where tinted leaves, blue waters and fair sky Environ all; and far above some birds are flying by To seek their evening haven in the breast And calm embrace of silence, while they sing Te Deums to the night, invoking rest For busy chirping voice and tired wing-- And in the hush of sleeping trees their sleeping cradles swing. In forest arms the night will soonest creep, Where sombre pines a lullaby intone, Where Nature's children curl themselves to sleep, And all is still at last, save where alone A band of black, belated crows arrive from lands unknown. Strange sojourn has been theirs since waking day, Strange sights and cities in their wanderings blend With fields of yellow maize, and leagues away With rivers where their sweeping waters wend Past velvet banks to rocky shores, in canyons bold to end. O'er what vast lakes that stretch superbly dead, Till lashed to life by storm-clouds, have they flown? In what wild lands, in laggard flight have led Their aerial career unseen, unknown, 'Till now with twilight come their cries in lonely monotone? The flapping of their pinions in the air Dies in the hush of distance, while they light Within the fir tops, weirdly black and bare, That stand with giant strength and peerless height, To shelter fairy, bird and beast throughout the closing night. Strange black and princely pirates of the skies, Would that your wind-tossed travels I could know! Would that my soul could see, and, seeing, rise To unrestricted life where ebb and flow Of Nature's pulse would constitute a wider life below! Could I but live just here in Freedom's arms, A kingly life without a sovereign's care! Vain dreams! Day hides with closing wings her charms, And all is cradled in repose, save where Yon band of black, belated crows still frets the evening air.
-- Emily Pauline Johnson, also known in Mohawk as Tekahionwake (10 March 1861 – 7 March 1913) was born and raised on Six Nations Reserve near Brantford, Ontario. She was the daughter of a Mohawk chief and his English wife. She was educated mainly at home, studying both English literature and Mohawk oral history and legend.

Sun Junkies are a four-piece garage rock group from Brantford Ontario. They deliver dopamine inducing melodies and immediate, surf-tinged hooks with a twist of the late 90’s indie introspective and irreverent lyrical sensibilities.
Formed in 2016 by singer/guitarist Noah Carmichael while in high school – the band settled into a definitive lineup in 2018, consisting of bassist Issa Mohammad, drummer Nick Stacy, and guitarist Ethan Silver.
Tumblr media
The band self-released their debut album, Technicolor Daydream in 2019. With an almost masochistic dedication to the tried-and-true ethics of DIY, Sun Junkies record, produce, and mix their records themselves, relying on McDonald’s salaries and friends who can afford to lend a microphone or two. In this spirit, insofar the band has booked every gig themselves or with the help of friends and supporters and has toured the east coast of Canada in the summer of 2019.
The band remains determined and has taken advantage of quarantine, holding up in a basement to write and record their upcoming EP, Unconventional Methods of Transportation, which is due for release in July of 2021.
