Le bulletin 145 de Stratpol de Xavier Moreau vient de paraitre aujourd’hui (04/08/2023).

Sobre héroes y tumbas, de Ernesto Sabato

La soledad; la muerte; el capitalismo, marxismo y peronismo; Borges, Roberto Arlt, Marcel Proust y la literatura fantástica; la prostitución; los celos; las mujeres malditas; las letras y la filosofía; la mujer y su emancipación; el Boca Juniors, Perón y Carlos Gardel; los prejuicios étnicos; la anarquía; el nacionalismo; el suicidio; Dios; el incesto; las sectas satánicas.

El existencialista francés, A. Camus, luego de probar el especial picor en las páginas de El Túnel (primera novela del autor), insistió al Gallimard por una inmediata traducción al francés. Además, el alemán Thomas Mann, muy temido en aquel entonces, luego de leer a Sabato, en su diario escribía: «Terminé la obra de Sabato… Absolutamente impresionado […]».

Sobre héroes y tumbas (SHT), se caracteriza por una visión de carácter «totalizador de la realidad», mucho más que cualquiera de los otros títulos novelísticos del autor. SHT: segunda parte de la monumental trilogía del argentino; secuela de El túnel y precuela de Abaddón el exterminador. Si pensamos en El Túnel como una notable y bien estimable obra, debemos pensar en SHT como una novela de mucho mayor calibre y de absoluta jerarquía.

SHT, novela barroca, psicológica, neorromántica, realista y con matices existencialistas; publicada en 1961, en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Escrita por el físico y literato —entre otros atributos—, y gran lector de Darwin, Zola y Spencer: Ernesto Sábato.

En la historia: Martín, muchacho de profundas cavilaciones, y Alejandra, misteriosa mujer, extravagante y de gran vesania, por un encuentro —tal vez—fortuito, ejecutarán una relación erótica y decante; relación que será telón de temas diversos: La muerte, el sexo, la represión, el deseo, Dios, el incesto, etc. Mientras tanto, en 1841, las tropas argentinas desencarnan el casi podrido cuerpo del General caído, Lavalle, como último designio de dignidad para éste; mientas huyen hacia el norte en dirección a las fronteras bolivianas. Por otro lado, Fernando ha encontrado el origen de todo, la causa mayor, a la gran secta que gobierna al mundo desde hace centenios: «los ciegos», y en un muy cuidadoso informe detalla sobre su gran labor en dicha investigación. Y mientras tanto, Bruno, intelectual, observa y piensa.

Sobre el título: Lo contiguo de «héroes» y «tumbas» podría interpretarse como lo relativo y transitorio que hay entre: las hazañas «heroicas», y, las imperativas y definitivas «tumbas».

Emir Rodríguez Monegal, nos dice que tumba «designa un útero al revés», y que es, a su vez, «Una suerte de túnel» ¹.

Sabato, en 1937, a sus cortos 26 años, ya era doctor en física; y en 1948 publicaba «El túnel», un breve tratado sobre los conflictos autodestructivos y la colosal alienación del hombre. Sabato, uno de los intelectuales fraguados en la era de Perón, procuró la búsqueda de la nueva voz identitaria Argentina. Y en los años siguientes a la caída de Perón, luego de varios escritos arrojados a la basura, comenzó —en algún momento—a moldear una historia totalizadora; una historia que contenga una visión completa del mundo, de sus renegados históricos, de las tragedias geográficas y demográficas, de los individuos contemporáneos y de los anacrónicos, cuyas luchas diarias estaban profundamente ligadas a los héroes y a las tumbas del pasado.

No olvidemos en ningún momento de la lectura de SHT, que quién te redactó cada una de las palabras allí inmersas, fue, no solamente un habido novelista, sino un brillante físico, con un panorama —tal vez— más íntegro del mundo que el del común de la gente.

Es innegable el parentesco en materia novelística: entre Sábato y los románticos alemanes. Pues, el mismo Sabato afirmaba que «[…] la novela es el género más indicado para ofrecer una cosmovisión integral […]» ².

SHT abarca una cantidad de planos y elementos de considerable mención:

1. Nivel histórico: La independencia; la guerra civil en Argentina; las invasiones inglesas (1806-1807); la revolución de mayo (1810); la época de Rosas y la huida de Lavalle a Bolivia.

2. Nivel geográfico: Núcleo desarrollado en Argentina y sus suburbios. La Patagonia y el norte de Argentina.

3. Nivel social: Las multitudes bonaerenses, los porteños, las clases sociales, la aristocracia argentina, los grupos étnicos.

4. Nivel biográfico: Además de datos biográficos del autor, participan, nada más y nada menos que: el escritor Jorge Luis Borges, y el pintor superrealista Oscar Domínguez.

SHT es un manifiesto extenso y vasto de la —digámosle— «óptica» que sabatiana sobre el mundo. El suicidio, la esperanza y la desesperanza. Una miscelánea entre la técnica narrativa y los preceptos sobre la razón y concepción del mundo. Novela imprescindible del autor, e imprescindible del directorio de títulos de autores de habla hispana.

«La noche, la infancia, las tinieblas, las tinieblas, el terror y la sangre, sangre, carne y sangre, los sueños, abismos, abismos insondables, soledad soledad soledad, tocamos pero estamos a distancias inconmensurables, tocamos pero estamos solos. Era un chico bajo una cúpula inmensa, en medio de la cúpula, en medio de un silencio aterrador, solo en aquel inmenso universo gigantesco».

«[…] una de las trágicas precariedades del espíritu, pero también una de sus sutilezas más profundas, era su imposibilidad de ser sino mediante la carne».

«—Así se da la felicidad. […]

»—En pedazos, por momentos. Cuando uno es chico espera la gran felicidad, alguna felicidad enorme y absoluta. Y a la espera de ese fenómeno se dejan pasar o no se aprecian las pequeñas felicidades, las únicas que existen. Es como... […]

»—Imagínese un mendigo que desdeña limosnas por el camino, porque le han dado el dato de un formidable tesoro. Un tesoro inexistente.

»Volvió a sumirse en sus pensamientos.

»—Parecen fruslerías: una conversación apacible con un amigo. A lo mejor esas gaviotas que vuelan en círculos. Este cielo. La cerveza que tomamos hace un rato. […]

»—A veces pienso que esas pequeñas felicidades existen precisamente porque son pequeñas. […]».

«Tal vez a nuestra muerte el alma emigra:

a una hormiga,

a un árbol,

a un tigre de Bengala;

mientras nuestro cuerpo se disgrega

entre gusanos

y se filtra en la tierra sin memoria,

para ascender luego por los tallos y las hojas,

y convertirse en heliotropo o yuyo,

y después en alimento del ganado,

y así en sangre anónima y zoológica,

en esqueleto,

en excremento.

Tal vez le toque un destino más horrendo

en el cuerpo de un niño

que un día hará poemas o novelas,

y que en sus oscuras angustias

(sin saberlo)

purgará sus antiguos pecados

de guerrero o criminal,

o revivirá pavores,

el temor de una gacela,

la asquerosa fealdad de comadreja,

su turbia condición de feto, cíclope o lagarto,

su fama de prostituta o pitonisa,

sus remotas soledades,

sus olvidadas cobardías y traiciones».

«—Creo que la verdad está bien en las matemáticas, en la química, en la filosofía. No en la vida. En la vida es más importante la ilusión, la imaginación, el deseo, la esperanza. Además ¿sabemos acaso lo que es la verdad? Si yo le digo que aquel trozo de ventana es azul, digo una verdad. Pero es una verdad parcial, y por lo tanto una especie de mentira. Porque ese trozo de ventana no está solo, está en una casa, en una ciudad, en un paisaje. Está rodeado del gris de ese muro de cemento, del azul claro de este cielo, de aquellas nubes alargadas, de infinitas cosas más. […] Pero decir todo es imposible, aun en este caso de la ventana, de un simple trozo de la realidad física, de la simple realidad física. La realidad es infinita y además infinitamente matizada, y si me olvido de un solo matiz ya estoy mintiendo».

«[…] en este país de resentidos sólo se empieza a ser un gran hombre cuando se deja de serlo».

«—...Y lo que más me causa gracia es que Méndez repudie la influencia europea en nuestros escritores ¿basándose en qué? Esto es lo más divertido: en una doctrina filosófica elaborada por el judío Marx, el alemán Engels y el griego Heráclito. Si fuésemos consecuentes con esos críticos, habría que escribir en querandí sobre la caza del avestruz. Todo lo demás sería adventicio y antinacional. Nuestra cultura proviene de allá, ¿cómo podemos evitarlo? ¿Y por qué evitarlo? No recuerdo quién dijo que no leía para no perder su originalidad. ¿Se da cuenta? Si uno ha nacido para hacer o decir cosas originales, no se va a perder leyendo libros. Si no ha nacido para eso, nada perderá leyendo libros... Además, esto es nuevo, estamos en un continente distinto y fuerte, todo se desarrolla en un sentido diferente. También Faulkner leyó a Joyce y a Huxley, a Dostoievsky y a Proust. ¿Qué, quieren una originalidad total y absoluta? No existe. En el arte ni en nada. Todo se construye sobre lo anterior. No hay pureza en nada humano».

«1. ° Dios no existe.

2. ° Dios existe y es un canalla.

3. ° Dios existe, pero a veces duerme: sus pesadillas son nuestra existencia.

4. ° Dios existe, pero tiene accesos de locura: esos accesos son nuestra existencia.

5. ° Dios no es omnipresente, no puede estar en todas partes. A veces está ausente ¿en otros mundos? ¿En otras cosas?

6. ° Dios es un pobre diablo, con un problema demasiado complicado para sus fuerzas. Lucha con la materia como un artista con su obra. Algunas veces, en algún momento logra ser Goya, pero generalmente es un desastre.

7. ° Dios fue derrotado antes de la Historia por el Príncipe de las Tinieblas. Y derrotado, convertido en presunto diablo, es doblemente desprestigiado, puesto que se le atribuye este universo calamitoso».

«Una maestrita, Norma Gladys Pugliese, […] pensaba, naturalmente, que el odio y las guerras entre los hombres eran debidos al mutuo desconocimiento y a la ignorancia general; tuve que explicarle que la única forma de mantener la paz entre los seres humanos era mediante la ignorancia recíproca y el desconocimiento, únicas condiciones en que estos bichos son relativamente bondadosos y justicieros, ya que todos somos bastante ecuánimes con relación a las cosas que no nos interesan. […] me veía obligado a explicarle el ABC de la condición humana a esta pobre diabla […] que creía, más o menos, que el alfabetismo resolvería el problema general de la humanidad: momento en que yo le recordaba que el pueblo más alfabetizado del mundo era el que había instaurado los campos de concentración para la tortura en masa y la cremación de judíos y católicos».

Lo que en mí se corrompía, tú lo estás arrancando y las aguas de este río lo llevarán lejos, pronto ayudará a una planta a crecer, quizá con el tiempo se convierta en flor, en perfume. Ya ves que esto no debería entristecerte. Y, además, así sólo quedarán de mí los huesos, lo único que en nosotros se acerca a la piedra y a la eternidad».

Ventura Guitar Serial Number Lookup

Beautiful old vintage Ventura Bruno V14 guitar. Looking at other similar models on e-bay, I GEUSS it to be 60's-70's but I do not know. Serial number is 74725, could be made in Japan but I do not know! This guitar includes chipboard case, has warm aged tone, the vibe of old guitar. Ventura was a brand of stringed instruments imported from Japan by C. Bruno and Company during the 1960s and 1970s. Bruno was bought by Kaman in the early 1980s, after which the brand disappeared. Some of the Ventura guitars were knock-offs of the Martin line, such as the Ventura V-35 appearing similar to the Martin D-35, and the Ventura V. Good luck and happy Ventura hunting! It has a nice classic tone but that is all I know about it.

Guitar ID and AppraisalThere are many reasons for determining the precise age of your used guitar. The most important one is probably pricing the instrument appropriately when you’re looking to sell it. Prices for certain vintage models vary by thousands of dollars depending on whether it’s a 1963, for example, or a 1964.

You’ll also need to know exactly what your guitar is worth for insurance purposes.One of the most valuable and often overlooked resources to help you identify and appraise guitars is your local used instrument dealer. It’s so important to establish a working relationship with these folks. While it may be tempting to call every store in the area in order to save a few dollars when you’re shopping for something, developing a loyalty to one or two shops pays off when you need service that goes beyond a simple purchase.

While most shops charge a fee for an official appraisal, it may take an experienced retailer only a second to realize that your old Epiphone is actually a Nova 390, produced from 1976 to 1980 in the company’s short-lived Japanese factory. The shop employee may be glad to look up the approximate value of your ax in a book and give you an opinion about what it’s worth. But if you randomly drop by a store that you’ve never been to before and ask for this kind of help, they might not take the time to look carefully at what you’ve got.LEARNING THE HISTORYIf you want to educate yourself to identify guitars, the first step is to become familiar with the histories of some of the larger companies.

In recent years, more and more books providing information on the major guitar manufacturers have become available, and they’re a great place to start. There are some basic questions to ask.

When did the company start building guitars? Where were the guitars manufactured? Did the company move in the course of its existence, and did it move its production overseas? Did the model in question change drastically during the years of production?

For example, Gibson’s J-200 started out with rosewood back and sides and fairly standard X-bracing in the late 1930s. It was changed to maple back and sides (except for a few rosewood examples) and a double-X bracing pattern in the ’50s. Yet another double-X bracing pattern was used during the ’70s, and then a more Martin-like scalloped X-bracing was adopted when the model was reintroduced in the late ’80s. These are all differences that would be difficult for the uneducated eye to notice, yet they drastically affect the guitar’s sound and value.At the very least, these books will identify the time period during which the guitar in question was produced, basic information that will, for example, keep you from paying a premium for a '1960s Martin HD-28' (you’ll know that this model wasn’t introduced until 1976). Sometimes you can narrow down even further the time period in which your guitar was built because of a certain distinguishing feature. For example, a volute or scroll at the back of a Gibson headstock usually indicates that the instrument was built between 1974 and 1981 (although some appeared as early as 1969).Another thing that the trained eye will immediately be able to pick up on is whether an instrument was built in the U.S.

Or imported from one of the many low-end Asian manufacturers. When I worked in retail, a customer once walked in with a Ventura archtop for sale.

Convinced that he had a guitar that was built in the U.S. In the ’50s, he stormed out after I told him what I’d be able to offer him for it. Even if I hadn’t known that Venturas were made in Japan during the ’70s (which was confirmed by a quick look in the Vintage Guitar Price Guide), I knew as soon as he opened the case. It was mostly the guitar’s thick finish that gave it away, complete with lacquered neck-to-body joints and drips through the f-holes. The wimpy hardware was another dead giveaway that this guitar was neither domestically made, as he thought, nor a high-quality import. The best place to gain this kind of familiarity is at your local music store’s used-and-cheap section; the more guitars you inspect, the more experienced you’ll be.One of the biggest roadblocks in identifying a guitar can often be the serial number.

These numbers are frequently inconsistent or missing from reference books. In many cases, a serial number by itself is about as useful as a phone number with a missing digit. Few companies have consistently used the same system of numbering during their entire existence (Martin is among those that have). For example, Gibson began using an eight-digit number in 1977.

The first and fifth digits indicated the year of production (8XXX2XXX meant it was built in 1982). If you tried to apply this formula to a serial number on an older Gibson, or even a newer vintage reissue (which sometimes use 'vintage' serial numbers) you’d be making a big mistake.REFERENCE BOOKSSo, how does one go about accurately identifying a used instrument? Probably the publication most often referred to is Gruhn’s Guide to Vintage Guitars. Written by George Gruhn (of Gruhn Guitars in Nashville) and Walter Carter, the guide is a must-have for identifying older American-made guitars. Organized into brands, general information, serial numbers, specific features, and model designations, the book identifies most major-brand guitars of the past and offers meticulous descriptions and a wealth of helpful photos. It offers little or no information on smaller makers, budget instrument makers, and recent entries into the guitar market.Although designed to give approximate values for vintage instruments, the Vintage Guitar Price Guide is also quite useful in identifying instruments. While it doesn’t describe each model’s features in detail, it does provide a company history for most of the makers included.

The book’s many photos can be very helpful, and the general listings, which include many off-brands, are among the most complete available. As with all price guides, the dollar amounts shown are to be taken with a grain of salt, but having even a vague idea of an instrument’s value will make you a more savvy buyer or seller.Another excellent resource is the Blue Book of Guitars. This hefty book probably represents the most complete compilation of information on guitars that have not yet reached vintage status.

ocas horas antes del ataque contra la embajada de Cuba en Washington, una mujer con impermeable rojo, lentes oscuros, tapabocas y capucha, fotografiaba la fachada de la casona de la Calle 16 en el barrio Adams-Morgan. Las cámaras de seguridad la grabaron a plena luz del día y, a pesar del disfraz, los funcionarios de la sede diplomática la reconocieron perfectamente. Es la esposa de un militante de la "causa" anticastrista, Mario Félix Lleonart Barroso, que, curiosamente, resulta ser común denominador de personajes e instituciones relacionados con esta trama.

Lleonart Barroso, pastor bautista nacido en Cuba y vecino de Washington DC, hace alardes en redes sociales de su estrecha relación con la Doral Jesus Worship Center –una iglesia ubicada en el epicentro de la contrarrevolución venezolana y cubana de Miami– y con sus amigos del Departamento de Estado, cuya página en Twitter lo publicitan en una entrevista como "perseguido por su fe en Cuba, donde soportó años de amenazas y detenciones" (tuit del 16 de enero de 2020).

El nombre de este individuo, un "asiduo participante en actos de hostigamiento" contra los cubanos en Washing-ton, es sólo una pista en el arsenal de pruebas que ofreció este martes el canciller cubano Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla. El ministro llamó "ataque terrorista" al tiroteo contra la sede diplomática el pasado 30 de abril, cuyo protagonista es otro pastor nacido en Cuba, vinculado también a la iglesia de Doral y a individuos muy activos en esa congregación que, no muy cristianamente, han solicitado matar con drones a Raúl Castro y al presidente Miguel Díaz-Canel.

A Alexander Alazo Baró, el autor del tiroteo, lo han presentado como un enfermo siquiátrico asediado por fantasías persecutorias, mientras el régimen de Trump ha archivado su expediente en medio de un apagón informativo. Lo extraordinario es que, salvo las imágenes tomadas desde la embajada que fueron divulgadas el martes, las escandalosas evidencias han estado al alcance público. Se puede jalar fácilmente de la cuerda de las redes sociales y encontrar los nexos entre estos señores con terroristas de la vieja escuela de las bombas bajo los autos, como Ramón Saúl Sánchez. También, con las voces más violentas de la maquinaria política anticubana y antivenezolana de Miami, y hasta con la Casa Blanca. O con todos a la vez.

El vicepresidente Mike Pence fue el orador principal de una "celebración religiosa" en el Doral Jesus Worship Center, que contó con la asistencia del gobernador de Florida, Ron DeSantis, los senadores Marco Rubio y Rick Scott, y el representante Mario Díaz-Balart. El encuentro del primero de febrero de 2019 fue particularmente comentado, porque Pence prometió desde el púlpito la cabeza de Nicolás Maduro en "cuestión de días o semanas" y Díaz-Balart, exaltado, dijo que Cuba y Venezuela padecían "el mismo cáncer". El canciller cubano emplazó a la Casa Blanca y al Departamento a explicar qué saben sobre los vínculos entre el atacante de la embajada y los que impulsan a la violencia contra la isla. Exigió una respuesta sobre qué los mueve a no denunciar el hecho, aunque adelantó una hipótesis: "un gobierno que defiende como legítimo castigar a toda la población de un país, como lo hace el gobierno de EU con el bloqueo económico, es en la práctica un incitador al odio contra Cuba".

En este ataque el único cubano que recibió un balazo fue José Martí, la estatua de metal que domina el pequeño jardín de la embajada. Pero pudo haber ocurrido una masacre esa madrugada del 30 de abril en la casona de la Calle 16 de Adams-Morgan. Diez funcionarios estaban dentro del edificio cuando las balas perforaron la puerta de entrada. Si alguien hubiera muerto, quizás estaríamos en el mismo punto: Washington reacciona a la agresión en su propio patio incluyendo a Cuba en "la lista de países que no colaboran con la lucha antiterrorista" (sic), como ocurrió ayer. Mientras, la isla continúa exigiendo a la Casa Blanca más coherencia y menos cinismo, porque la impunidad y el crimen van juntos, se generan, se cultivan y alientan, se disimulan, se reproducen, se imitan, se aplauden.

Al analizar la serie de pinturas de Goya titulada Los desastres de la guerra, el hispanista francés Paul Lefort anotó que "siempre que hay un salto cualitativo en el uso de la violencia hay alguien dispuesto a superarlo". Si Trump y Pompeo siguen en las mismas, ¿qué vendrá después del asalto a la embajada?
