Anyone got a spare £11 Million kicking around?

The cyclist was snapped out of her thoughts, not that it stopped her from falling. Slick pavement and distracted cycling were not a good mix.
“Aw shit” Riley was now on her side with her legs tangled up in her bike. Riley didn’t even look at the woman she’d nearly hit as she kicked her bike away. It was NYC, people just kept walking. No point in sparing a second glance at someone who didn’t care if you lived or died.
Not much point in getting up either Riley thought with a huff as she rolled onto her back with her arms spread out, grey eyes staring up at the cloudy sky. No stars, but there never were in the big city.
I miss stars..a defeated sigh left her lips, Riley didn’t particularly feel like getting up. Besides she was already wet and the street was weirdly quiet. No harm laying down for a little bit.
The outside of the NYPD was cold and quiet, night air and drizzling rain not helping the dreary atmosphere. It wasn’t the sort of weather you wanted to be tossed out into, but alas that’s where we start this story. Riley Smithers being tossed out by New Yorks finest, stumbling down the slick stone steps the young woman only barely caught herself on the railing in the middle of the stairway.
“For fucks sake!” Riley hissed, pushing herself back up and looking back to only see that the doors had been shut without so much as a second glance.
Terrific, she thought, shoving her hands in her jacket pockets and marching back down the rest of the stairs and to her haphazardly tossed bike that she’d dumped off in an ally way. Riley hadn’t even bothered locking the darn thing she’d been in such a rush. A rush to report a kidnapping she’d witnessed.
Y’know, a crime that the police should care about. Riley shook her head, her hands resting on the handle bars of her bike. She literally saw someone get kidnapped and the police weren’t doing jack. All because the person happened to be a mutant.
As if we’re all damn h-bombs waiting to go off. She sighed hopping onto her bike..not like she could do much now..the rain stopped leaving the night air still
Kylee had been investigating the NYPD for months now. Crooked cops in a corrupt system...there had been an influx of mutant kidnappings in the past six months, and the police were brushing off all incidents.
Sure, mutants were already second-class citizens in the eyes of the law, but there was something off about these kidnappings. Police completely ignored all statements -- they weren't even recording reports, even the cops Kylee knew weren't complete assholes were refusing to pull out their pens.
Something more rotten than usual was stinking up the place. She wasn't sure how, but Kylee was convinced that the NYPD was at least convinced to look the other way. But why?
As a journalist, Kylee was a common sight in the police department, so none of the men and women in blue her as she planted a few bugs around the department. Hopefully, she would be able to get to the bottom of it quickly.
Kylee walked out with her head held high, deeply breathing in the cold air after a hard rain.
She almost didn't see the distressed cyclist and narrowly missed colliding with them.
"Hey, watch it!"

This Blog Exists
This is a blog for the far reaches of the multiverse, where three strange variants of Henry McCoy (X-Men Beast) are forced to exist in the same space. So far, we have Henry "Hal" McCoy of 10693, Sadie of 295-B, and Retta of 35^6. It's a mix of serious, funny, and stupid.
Also, it's a blog about random things that tickle my fancy.
I also run the Dark Beast blog, the Squirrel Girl blog, and an OC blog @bugginout.

A day late, but happy belated #worldBeeDay, with a #finisFriday twist!
We're thinking about working on a pollinator garden this weekend, what are your plans?

The numbers of these bugs creatures were deeply frustrating for Zora to deal with. But they were glad to do their part in whatever way they could. In secret, they could use larger scale .. things but for now they would still have to play the somewhat 'mundane' part of ordinary survivor.
"You're welcome." They muttered quietly, they observed the current company as she took a closer look. They had lightly stepped a bit closer to pick up on anything that stood out to them.
"Probably. But I guess that's why I stay on the move so I can help as I can."
It was difficult but what else could Zora really do? Stay in hiding with these bugs everywhere? That wasn't really an option.
"Nice to meet you Kylee, I'm Zora."
She watched it fall to the ground with an unceremonious thud. Its thick, dull gray blood pooled onto the ground beneath it. The bugs could be easily overpowered by two or three people with ease. The real issue with them was the sheer amount that swarmed the earth.
"Thanks," Kylee said quietly, keeping her tone quiet and even as she kneeled down to get a better look at it. Kylee knew a thing or two about bugs, and getting a closer look with her own two eyes was something that may give more insight into their (biology/build?) "I would have been alien chow if you hadn't come by."
The head was similar to a mantis, a thorax reminiscent of a cockroach nymph -- its wings were underdeveloped, which explained why they seemed able to glide, but not fly. But those biological-like features were covered in layers along the back that reminded her of plate armor with protruding tubes (veins?) that extended from seemingly random parts of the exoskeleton only to loop back into the body in another location.
"I'm Kylee by the way," she said as she stood back up, turning to the person behind her.

Kylee's eye twitched.
Because this was not the first time that someone had made the same conclusion. Afterall, spying with bugs was almost the same scanning their minds. Right?
"The difference is that everyone still keeps their thoughts to themselves."
