tomgreg is truly amazing because its like. one of them is a married man who has a psychosexual obsession with his hot wife’s weird cousin. and the other is this clueless but somehow incredibly machiavellian little guy with a school-girl crush on his boss who treats him like he’s his mistress. its somehow not only insanely funny to watch but there’s this underlying sadness to it all which ends up making it play out like a modern day shakespearen comedy-tragedy.

Genuinely thinking about Greg for like more than two seconds makes me throw up cause like think about it, his father probably did abandon him at a young age, and growing up he had to hear about why his father abandoned him as jokes and quips from other people, where the punchline was always that he’s gay and just the fact that he is gay. His father’s departure likely led to Marianne’s unnamed illness and we’ve seen in the show how Ewan can emotionally abusive since he cared more about his ideals than his family. Like Greg’s internalised homophobia must be insane cause imagine growing up where your family was broken because of your dad’s queerness and people constantly made fun of you because your dad was gay.

This is extremely tomgreg-brained of me to say, but I think that the forehead kiss really shifted something. Because Greg was kind of Like That in the season 3 finale--slyly coming up to Tom and talking about women  he’s trying to have sex with.

 Pre-forehead kiss I feel like their relationship is really defined by Tom coming into Greg’s office or wherever and Greg reacting with apprehension about what kind of insane thing Tom might say or do this time, but after that scene it’s all “Prove it” and calling Tom “Tommy”. Even when Tom is being insane, Greg’s just like “calm down, don’t be sad :( “. I can’t think of a scene after that has that “oh shit, is he going to start throwing things” energy they used to have. 

Tom touching him on the head has just unlocked something in him.
