SUMMARY!: Welcome to Chef of Love: Back in Collage! This is an interactive fanfic written by yours truly, Cis7us.

CLBC follows the story of 21 year old Sanji, who is struggling to make ends meet even with his extra shifts at the Baratie and is sure he will die hopelessly alone without a lover. This leads him to buying the deluxe version of the new hit dating sim Romance Dawn.

Despite how pathetic he feels about it, Sanji had already spent money on it, he haddd to try it out.

Sanji booted up the game only to have his life taken by the Chaste Chef’s Choice System. He must now romance any one of the characters for a chance to get back to his normal life!

What happens next is up to you!

Sanji was used to crazy situations, considering his whole life was its own crazy situation. He was the best of the best on that subject. Whatever you ask, he's had it happen... probably. It was as if he was cursed; whenever something became his normal, a drastic change would happen. Nothing went his way. Maybe in another life things would be different, he would be in control and free, worthy of all that he deems himself undeserving of…

No chance, no way! Such were the silly pipe dreams for dear old Sanji. He was stuck with his shitty college life, paying off debts for the rest of his days, and being yelled at by that old bastard every moment he stepped into work. It was likely that Sanji would be taking over the restaurant when the geezer finally keeled over. That was his life plan; plain, simple, and alone. No more, no less.

He wasn't blessed with luck in romance… Every girl he liked either hated him or left too early before they could become something more than friends. He loved more than enough for the both of them. All they had to do was stay. That's all he needed, all he wanted. He didn't expect to find love afterwhile, true love, at least. After everything that’s happened, it must’ve meant he didn’t deserve it. So, he was fine with loving those but never getting loved in return. That was his way, and likely how it would be until met his end.

Whenever he could, he picked up additional shifts at the Baratie, getting some extra cash to make things a little easier for himself. Despite Zeff's generous offerings, Sanji could never allow himself to not pay rent. Absolutely not. Even if it made it harder to keep up with school payments, supplies, the juggle of work, class, and homework, he couldn't accept it. He hardly had any free time, yet he was okay with that .

Sanji was definitely not someone you could call a gamer. Besides the lack of time, it just wasn't his style. He often told people that they should find better use of their time instead, like studying, working, or pursuing their passions.

But everyone has their own little ways of self indulgence.. Sanji was no different. Besides, no one would ever know.

To be exact, this indulgence was a game called Romance Dawn, it was a newly released dating sim among kids his age. Sanji would be lying if he said he hadn't been waiting for it since its characters teasers, following along for the year long period before its preorder, even going so far to buy the deluxe with extra features. With beauties such as those on the cover.. who wouldn’t be at least tempted to buy a copy?

Nami, Robin, and Vivi – these three ladies stole his heart among the wide cast of girls.

Nami, known as the “cat burglar” among campus for swiping a few things here and there, who plans to be an aspiring climatologist with a hobby for collecting old maps. Robin, a more quiet beauty compared to Nami, studying to be an archaeologist, and who happens to be fluent in more languages he can count on his fingers and toes. And lastly Vivi, a calm girl who doesn't mind standing up for others if need be, with dreams to travel and live every moment to the fullest, aspiring to be a wedding photographer to capture those moments for others.

His romantic life was so bleak he turned to a dating sim as a final resort to “find love”... how pathetic. Just what was he doing with his life?

Well, it's not like he couldn’t play it even if he felt pathetic, he spent all that money for the special deluxe version after all… Sanji had to get his money's worth.

“One time.. one time and I'll get my stupid money's worth and never touch it again,” he grumbled to himself whilst taking a sip of water, not enjoying the pitiable feeling.

He couldn't lie, it was a well made game even from just the title screen, all the girls lined up, posing, with catchy music and the side characters behind them. This was so stupid. “One of these guys looks like a stupid moss ball…” he chuckled to himself whilst clicking a new game slot, it didn't mean he was enjoying the game.

His fingers tapped on his keys in a memorized notation internally dissecting every aspect of the game so far. “Normal games pop up for this genre, I suppose.”

A loading screen, as expected. It probably needed to boot everything up, maybe download any ingame stuff if need be. If it took too long, Sanji would just have a better excuse not to play.

It unfortunately didn't take long before the game was done loading. He just haddd to play it now.

For the most part, it was enjoyable, even if he would never admit it. The character customization was nice, he got it to look fairly similar to him, though it was a bit eerie they had his kind of eyebrows, but hey, who was he to complain at inclusivity? The gameplay was a nice, 2D open world environment with visual novel like chatting and cut scene style.

It had a list of all the characters in a special menu bar, usually you needed to meet them to unlock their entry, but he paid extra, so no wasting time on unimportant things!

Nami, Robin, Vivi... his favorites. The other girls weren’t bad, but they didn't catch his eye as much… Perona, Hancock, Hiyori, Ulti, Pudding... all were gorgeous with wonderful personalities, don't get him wrong! He loved them, big fan, 10/10 rating! yet none felt quite like those three.It was almost like a gut feeling.

The same went for a few other characters, side characters to be exact. Best friend or “rivals” in this case, a few of them he also had a weird gut feeling with. Luffy, Ussop, Chopper, and even the most annoying character, Zoro. something just felt a little... familiar when he read their dialogue.

He had to have been going crazy, it's true, he's officially lost it at the ripe age of 21! Playing a stupid ass game and feeling like he genuinely knows the characters on a weird spiritual level! God, he needs to seek help.

His face rested in his hands, tugging at his hair so hard he might develop bald spots in. He wasn't good when anxious, and this weird feeling definitely made him more than anxious. He needed to calm down, but his breathing was short and ragged, what the hell was happening to him? Mid crisis, another popup rang, his breath hitched, breaking him out of that mindset to look at his screen.

Don't you wish your life was different, Sanji?

What the fuck? What kinda shit was this? He bought a dating sim not a weird fucking horror game. There wasn't a text, not even a yes or no button option. Before he could even think of a response, it rang again.

Deluxe feature 66, processing… please hold.

Okay, genuinely, what the fuck. What in the world was happening?? Deluxe feature 66??? What in the world was this stupid game doing to his computer? Hell, if he didn't have a reason to regret buying it, he sure did now.

His fingers rushed to his mouse and tried to close out the game, but the button just disappeared. “What the fuck?! Okay, this is not funny.” His face turned sour, something was wrong, so wrong. Hell, his computer was likely getting hacked… just his luck. He was sweating now, what should he do? All his stuff is on his computer. Should he cancel his credit card? Change his email passwords while he still had a chance?

“Fuck fuck fuck...” quick curses spat from his lips, his hand finally leaving the mouse to his head again. Of course! Of course it's him, of course it's now! Life had been going as well as it could, of fucking course!!

Ding!

That cursed popup noise. His eyes darted to the screen.

“System..? what the he–“

He wasn't allowed to finish his sentence, before he felt the oxygen leave his lungs, coughing at the scratchy feeling. His hands reached to his throat, what was happening to him?? He couldn’t breathe, he was fine just a second ago..

Your arrival is awaited, Sanji.

This..? This stupid fucking game did this? No way. Sanji lurched forward, this is bad, his vision was getting blurry by now, if this kept up he would likely pass out, hell he’d even die at this point! He was useless, he couldn't do anything to save himself besides wait for his fate. His body flopped in his chair, like it would do anything to save him. His face was slowly going blue with each passing second.

He had a minute left at most and his eyes lifted to the screen for the last time in their slow closing moments.

Thank you, Sanji.

“Fuck.. you..” his last fleeting thought before his hands fell from his neck, body going limp, and head slamming against his desk, finally loosing to whatever took his breath away. Literally.
