• RookLoche is not and will not be healthy

• Cloche originally wanted to seek Rook out, believing that Twisted Wonderland’s “French” might give her insight on how Twisted Wonderland parallels Earth. Collecting more information on him through her bells, she soon viewed him fondly because of a supposed nostalgia. Coupled with her philosophy that everyone has something to live for, Cloche chose Rook as her will to live (in Twisted Wonderland).

• Cloche views Rook as a misunderstood underdog, thus strengthening her parasocial bond to him.

• Detached from her own emotions, Cloche thinks she could have chosen to follow anyone else to the same affect, but Rook checked off everything she wanted in a person. (Or at least an idealized version) Rook seemed stable. He was someone who was in control of his emotions, true to himself, and situationally aware.

• For lore reasons, Cloche finds emotions (her own and others’) dirty, yet is intrigued when she isn’t turned away by Rook’s spontaneous bursts of smiles or tears.

• As for Rook, Cloche is nothing more but a fleeting fascination. He was secretly disappointed that the Feral! Cloche he met wasn’t how Cloche actually acted. Although he can admire Cloche’s cat beastman features, and mental fortitude— she just doesn’t stand out. She doesn’t seem to provide anything new and readily agrees to anything Rook proposes.

• While she’s no physical threat, Cloche’ observance and inferences is enough is enough to make Rook wary of her and someone he’d discreetly avoid.

• Rook is painfully aware of Cloche’ feelings towards him, and doesn’t want to feed into her questionable tendencies, knowing it’s bad for her. Any attempts at a romantic encounter or anything that crosses the lines of friendship? He’ll suavely strike it down for a friendlier alternative. (Not that Cloche is a creep but when it seems she’s close to confessing 😭)

• I feel like we don’t see enough of the Rook that’s uncomfortable or obscuring information, so Cloche is designed to shine Rook a new light. Rook’s uncomfy for himself, and because he’s generally worried for the cat maid’s mental stability-
