okay but. a fourth hmc book from older michael's perspective. michael who started out as a poor little orphan boy but was the first to find a home in howl when howl was JUST making a home for himself. michael who loves martha and magic and probably never thought, never dreamed, never hoped his life would have turned out like this. michael who is probably definitely morgan's godfather. michael who is likely a few years older than charmain and peter and would make such a kickass chaotic magical older sibling figure. michael who loves sophie and calcifer and his family and you can't tell me he wouldn't fiercely protect the one he made for himself when his first was taken from him. michael who, in the style of dwj, i want to see subvert an existing path and carve a story of his own. just. michael fisher, man.

Sophie & Howl things I loved in Castle in the Air (Spoilers, but the spoilers make the book even more enjoyable, imo)

- Howl gets turned into a genie in a bottle who’s forced to grant his owner one wish per day, and he’s making it everyone’s problem.

- Sophie & Howl’s bickering is apparently well known to their friends & family.

- it’s implied Sophie scolds the king with some regularity.

- they have a baby who is already causing chaos (and began life as a kitten. He was not happy to be turned back to a human baby.)

Everyone: Oh, Howls Moving Castle was amazing, I just wish they gave us a better ending!

Me: ...there's a sequel, she wrote a sequel! It's called Castle In The Air! Then after that it's House Of Many Ways! Gods damn, it is a trilogy! Just because Hayao Miyazaki didn't make two other movies, doesn't mean it's over!

The genie’s hollow voice came from inside it. “He appeals to me. He shines with dishonesty.”

And I was like, HOWL??!

But then it wasn’t Howl.
