And That’s What Your Really Missed S1E4 Preggers
Back with the recap of a recap, little late but with not a lot to report.
The main big difference between Showmance’s recap episode and this one is that Mike O’Malley guessed last timed around and the three dived into Burt’s character and his relationship with Kurt, what it meant that it was a more realistic yet hopeful portrayal. Jenna and Kevin once again go over the Kurt storyline of course but, to be honest, I don’t think they’re saying anything new about it. They do talk about still having been in Australia when this episode aired and on both occasions they discuss Tina’s big moment in Tonight and the spider necklace triggering Jenna’s arachnophobia.
What I found most interesting is that they talked more about this Tina/Rachel plotline this time around and both lamented Tina’s treatment and Rachel’s behaviour. Kevin is a big supporter of both Tina as a character and Jenna as a performer and it’s wholesome to hear. Jenna also mentions how Tina often gets the short end of the stick and how that resulted in her not only getting fewer songs but the ones she does get getting cut off or her having to throw that last note. Fair observations and criticisms, though obviously there’s a lot more to cover here.
Talking about babygate was almost entirely unique as they didn’t much talk about it in Showmance. To be fair, they didn’t exactly go in depth here either and I found their coverage of it quite shallow. Again, not expecting deep critical analysis of Kevin and Jenna’s pod but I still found it lacking, relative to the huge storyline that it is.
Tartie takes:
Cringe moment: Sandy Ryerson, again, Figgins’ commercial
Worst dance move: not applicable this week
Best song: Tonight/Single Ladies
Best quote: hi I’m Kurt Hummel and I’ll be auditioning for the role of kicker
Best performance by a prop: the spider necklace during Tonight
Didn’t age well: the baby isn’t Black, is it?
Did age well: Burt watching Deadliest Catch
Shit we found on tiktok:
Shouting out tiktokers who recap the pod
Plot hole: Karofsky used to be a hockey player at the beginning. Kevin talked to Max Adler who said Karofsky was originally a hockey player and Azimio the football one but after he became more than a throwaway ch it made more sense to put him on the football team as well.
Now this tiktok segment made sense to include, I like that they went straight to Max and asked him. This is the kind of “insider” info we can only get on this podcast. Overall, though, I didn’t find this episode as engaging as the Showmance recap with Mike O’Malley or even as the ATWYRM Acafellas one tbh. I’m cutting them slack though and will continue listening, and I encourage others to as well.

ID: a traditional drawing of Maria Hill and Natasha Romanoff both are full body and of their comic book versions. Maria is taking a step forward and bending over slightly to kiss Natasha on the lips while Natasha stands upright holding Maria's hand. Both of them are wearing their comic costumes but Maria's arm logo is replaced with the more simple and common shield logo. There is no background but they are standing against a green rectangle.
End ID
Some very self indulgent art of one of my favourite avengers pairs. I just think they're neat.

Natasha and Bucky like working with teens because Everytime they do they get another opinion on their sixty year argument of "is the song 'the GI jive' cool, because Bucky is like "it was so cool when we were teens" and Natasha is like "it was not, you thought it was, you were wrong"

ID: a drawing of Natasha Romanoff with her head tilted to the right while she looks to the left. It is cut off right under her shoulders. End ID This definitely isn’t perfect but I like how it turned out regardless. Anyways Natasha is one of my favourite Avengers and I’m not sure I’ve ever drawn her digitally and finished it.
