Skip & Loafer 67: A Real Piece of Work

We're back in the swing of things! Straight from the school trip to the culture festival with all of its wonderful preparations and gimmicks. Shima is involved with a play and in a subversion from your classic anime choices this time it's Frankenstein! We don't waste any time getting into how it ties into his story either, moving pretty swiftly to a meeting with some of his old actor buddies. Which leads us to a flashback with big implications:

We delve into why his acting career went off the rails. Starts with the pressure of dealing with his overbearing mother snapping at him any time he slipped up. Then slides into him seeing this revelation. He stopped getting roles not because of any fault of his own...but because producers were getting sick of his mom's antics.

That's wild, such a heavy turn for our boy but it explains so much. Good on his friends for being supportive about the revelation. Reassuring him it was silly to think about how his mom would feel about that. I just wanted to give him a big hug too. We knew he had mother issues...but that's a whole different dimension to them.
