THE SINKING CITY - Charles Reed

After seeing the trailer for The Sinking City 2, I couldn't resist starting this game over from the beginning. It's so creepy and well-written! And Charles Reed and a poor tormented soul that I just want to wrap up in a blanket. Note: He ALWAYS has resting bitch face.

I'm still so emo over Graham Carpenter from The Sinking City. Bro was just a disabled dude who wanted to use his status to help the people of Oakmont since the island is in deep poverty after the flood. He gets Charles Reed to kill his piece of shit dad who was a gang leader and did despicable shit but afterwards he gets killed for it by remaining gang members. He was genuinely a good, kindhearted person who wanted to use his privilege to help instead of hurt people in a town where every person wants to back stab you. I'm just. uwaaaa

I feel like Charles has a deep compassion for the Innsmouthers. They are shunned, treated like dirt, and hate crimed. While I personally think Charles has a moral grayness, he just knows there’s victims, there’s abusers of power, and Brutus and Throgmorton were the biggest abusers Oakmont had ever seen. I won’t go into the very obvious metaphors this game uses but it is very clear Charles is not like the rest of this world. Which only amplifies his isolation, he’s sane in a world full of hysteria and chooses logic instead of hatred. 

While he will do anything to solve his investigation, I truly think Charles will never undermine someone with good intentions or a decent heart.
