He had an intense look in his eyes - unhinged and dangerous.

Usually she could work people out quickly by simply watching them, or deep diving into their whole world through a quick and simple hack.

Not him.

It would take more than a scan and criminal record to work him out.

He looked feral, like an animal just broken free of it's cage, stalking it's prey and waiting to attack.

Most people only gave her a glance, soldiers only looking to her for orders if under her command, superiors barely acknowledging her, but he stared back.

Directly at her.

She couldn't tell what he was thinking.

Previous recruits were just bodies that needed a job, people with no hope or choice, a means to an end.

Not him.

Mauga was different.

Unhinged and dangerous.

Just what Talon wanted and just what she needed.
