"All our needs are met by this land, not by Enbridge.” That’s what Wenipashtaabe (Sandy Gokee), an Anishinaabe water protector, told the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) at a June 4 public hearing in Ashland, Wisconsin about a proposal to reroute Enbridge’s Line 5 oil pipeline. Line 5 currently trespasses through the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa’s reservation in northern Wisconsin, and a federal judge last year ordered Enbridge to remove that segment of pipeline off the tribe’s land by June 2026. Enbridge’s plan is to reroute the pipeline, but the company needs approval from the USACE first.
Tumblr media
[...]At the meeting, Tribal leaders and environmental advocates from across the region voiced concern about the proposed reroute. That’s because Line 5 poses an environmental risk within Tribal boundaries—and the reroute wouldn’t change this, because it would still be located within the larger Bad River watershed. In other words, an oil spill in that area would still drain into the Bad River, endangering wetlands and groundwater along the river’s course to Lake Superior. “We said off the watershed. You said off the reservation,” Gokee told the USACE at the public hearing. The more than 70-year-old pipeline is 20 years past its expiration date. In some places, including the point where the pipeline intersects with a “meander” in the Bad River, it is in imminent danger of rupture.
Folks aren’t counting on Enbridge to fix this, because the Canadian energy company has a terrible track record. A rupture in another major Enbridge pipeline, 6B, caused the 2010 Kalamazoo River spill, which dumped nearly a million gallons of crude oil into the water over the course of 18 hours before Michigan authorities (not Enbridge) reported the spill. It’s one of the largest inland oil spills in US history. Construction along Enbridge’s Line 3 has caused ongoing harm in Minnesota, where Enbridge contractors released toxic fracking fluids while drilling under waterways, and destroyed wetlands.
The proposed new segment of Line 5 would cross and endanger nearly 200 bodies of water and over 100 acres of wetland as it passes through Ashland and Iron Counties. The $450 million reroute would require temporarily and permanently discharging fill material into wetlands, horizontal drilling under the White River (which flows into the Bad River), and would cause the loss or alteration of wetlands in the 30- to 50-foot wide maintenance corridor surrounding the pipeline, USACE states in an analysis of the plan.
“I can drink the water here now. Let’s keep it that way,” added Gokee at the public hearing.

Bonus materials;
The oil pipeline laying in the Straits of Mackinac — is 21 years past it’s intended lifespan. A Line 5 rupture would impact 700 miles of Great Lakes shoreline, take years to clean up, and would devastate our Great Lakes economy — putting 214,000 Michigan tourism jobs at risk. The Great Lakes are 20% of the world’s freshwater — we can’t afford to contaminate them with oil.

I want to highlight their demands for people who just saw that wall of text and skipped it cuz this is important:

This is a decently nuanced 14 minute interview about how turning on Line 3 affected native communities; how most are still just taking actions to survive through ongoing oppression and colonization, how activism isnt a luxury a lot of people can afford with mouths to feed and systemic oppression keeping them in cycles of poverty.
Stand with the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa
It shouldn't be on them to fight Enbridge on their own and nobody should be forced to choose between their people or their planet. Uplift their voices and make their demands known and make it known that they're supported and they're not alone.

A possible easter egg in Queen’s serial number (not the popular one)
Queen’s full name is Serial Number Q5U4EX7YY2E9N, right?  It is well known that after getting rid of the numbers and some letters it gives us, well, Queen.
Once, after I remembered this fact, I was curious if the numbers in it meant anything. (I watched too many theories) I browsed the numbers, 54729, and it gave me a zip code for some county in Wisconsin, Chippewa Falls. I was bored enough to check it’s Wikipedia, and it appears to be a birthplace of some guy named Seymour Cray, right? Well, he was, according to the Wikipedia, “an American electrical engineer and supercomputer architect who designed a series of computers that were the fastest in the world for decades”, called "the father of supercomputing.
Nice. (Queen is a computer ofc)
-> Note that the way I got to this was so random this may be as well a complete coincidence.

Chippewa Lake Park "Chippewa Lake Park is an abandoned amusement park located in Chippewa Lake, Ohio, Medina County. It operated from 1878 through 1978, after the final owner, Continental Business Enterprises closed it due to a lack of attendance. The rides and structures were left largely untouched and unmaintained for over 45 years.
By the 2000s, large trees began growing through rides like the roller coaster and Ferris Wheel, and several buildings had collapsed or been damaged by the effects of the elements. All the park's structures rusted and rotted beyond repair.
About 4pm on Thursday, June 13, 2002, the ballroom burned down.
By 2008, several other buildings had suffered the ballroom's fate, including the hotel, arcade, Fun House, peanut stand, and maintenance building, all of which had been damaged or destroyed by fire. Other rides and structures still stood, in various states of disrepair. These included the roller coaster, the Wild Mouse, the Little Dipper, the Tumble Bug, and the frames of the Ferris Wheel and Flying Cages. Most other buildings across the park were in various states of collapse due to 30 years of neglect by this time.
On September 9, 2008, Chippewa Partners LLC announced plans for a development on the site called "Chippewa Landing" which was planned to include a hotel and spa, fitness center, restaurants, a conference and music center, small shops, and other entertainment venues, that was expected to be completed sometime in 2010. The site's structures, trees, and debris were being demolished and removed as of April 5, 2009, and the site was expected to be redeveloped after the completion of the work… but in April 18, 2012, the Chippewa Partners LLC's aforementioned plans for the site were announced to have been scrapped due to a lawsuit, and the property went into foreclosure. In August 2012, an attempt to auction off the property failed, and foliage started to reclaim the park again.
As of January 2023, the Ferris Wheel, the Little Dipper, the Flying Cages, and the Tumble Bug are still standing, along with sections of the train track and the remains of the ballroom and other structures. The Tumble Bug cars were removed and set aside, including one outside the fence, along with the gear lift mechanism to the roller coaster and some barrels."
Cementland "Located in St. Louis, MO, this was the site of an abandoned cement factory and dumping ground for construction waste. Local sculptor Bob Cassilly, however, saw that it could be something more, and spent years working to turn the site into a concrete castle and amusement park, full of sculptures, waterways, and bridges, until his tragic and untimely death on the site in 2011."

A man suspected of killing his girlfriend and her unborn child and then hiding their bodies in a Wisconsin farmhouse was arrested in a Missouri traffic stop after three years on the lam, according to the Gladstone Police Department.
Jose Eduardo Dominguez Garcia, 26, was pulled over shortly after midnight on Nov. 23 when an automated license plate reader indicated that the red Ford Fusion he was driving northeast of Kansas City, Missouri, was stolen, the department wrote in a press release.
The driver reportedly had a number of fake ID cards on his person and gave officers several different names around 12:34 a.m. on NE Englewood Drive in Gladstone, police said.
Ultimately, police identified him as Jose Eduardo Dominguez-Garcia, 26, who was wanted on first-degree murder, murder of an unborn child and hiding a corpse charges in Missouri's Chippewa County, per the release.
Dominguez-Garcia was issued those charges on Dec. 12, 2021, after a dark-haired, pregnant corpse recovered a year earlier in an abandoned farmhouse in Wheaton was positively identified as Rosaly "Cindy" Chavarria Rodriguez, 24.
An informant reportedly told officers about the body's location during a drug investigation, per the Leader Telegram.
The corpse, found hidden in a purple suitcase on the abandoned property on Oct. 14, 2020, was found wearing a shirt that read "Sprecher's Restaurant and Pub," per NBC 15.
Staff at the restaurant told police that Chavarria Rodriguez had worked there as a pantry cook for two weeks and was last seen there on July 2 before she stopped showing up for work and, ultimately, the corpse was found, per the Leader Telegram.
Dominguez-Garcia also worked at the restaurant, according to KMBC. He reportedly picked her last paycheck up for her on July 23, according to the Leader Telegram.
In an interview with the Reedsburg Police Department on July 23 that year, Dominguez-Garcia told detectives that he had broken up with Chavarria Rodriguez on July 4 after he learned she had been cheating on him, per the Leader Telegram. He said he knew the woman was pregnant, and that she had told him the unborn child's father was a different man.
Investigators found Dominguez-Garcia's abandoned 2003 Volkswagen Jetta in the Wisconsin Dells area on Aug. 26, 2020, per the Leader Telegram. In the trunk, they noted fluids that indicated a decaying body may have been stored there at one point, per the outlet.
Surveillance footage captured the same car along 2655 Highway T, in the area where the woman's body was uncovered, on July 23.
Chavarria Rodriguez's ex-husband had reported the Peruvian national missing on July 21.
Dominguez-Garcia is currently behind bars at Clay County Detention Center in Liberty, Missouri, jail staff confirmed to Fox News Digital. It is unclear when he will be extradited to Wisconsin to face the charges against him.
Former Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk said Chavarra Rodriguez's was the only unresolved murder investigation he left before his retirement, and that he was glad to see an arrest made.
"This has been a very long and intense investigation," Kowalczyk told the Leader Telegram on Friday. "A lot of time and effort was put into this investigation by many agencies, and as a result, he will be brought to justice."
The former sheriff said he was surprised Dominguez-Garcia was arrested in the United States, as "all indications… led us to believe he went back to his country of origin."
Fox News Digital could not reach the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office, the Chippewa County Prosecutor's Office or the Gladstone Police Department at press time.

Bob Brave Bear, Dakota male, wearing two feathers, decorated vest and pants, standing next to fence in front of painted backdrop. By- Barry .
Here is the interesting story of Bob Brave Bear, a Yanktonai, who was sentenced to death for murder in 1882. Early as 1874 he had been accused of murdering members of a mixed-blood Chippewa/Ojibwa family in Pembina County in North Dakota. He managed to flee from jail in late 1878. Some sources say he fled to Canada and joined Sitting Bull. If so, it is unclear when he came back because in 1879 he was said to had kill a settler at Standing Rock while stealing horses with a party of other Indians. Finally Brave Bear also murdered an ex-soldier named Johnson later that year. For that crime he was convicted and tried. Brave Bear was hanged on November 15, 1882 ... I wonder if there is an Indian side of the story. To whom was he related?

Giant Indians and Baffling Burials
The Europeans who settled what is now the United States were always loath to believe that the native population had ever been anything but what it appeared upon the settlers' arrival. So whenever skeletons were unearthed measuring a bit taller than the contemporary indigenous people, a hullabaloo was raised over the discovery of "giant Indians" from what were presumed to be members of ancient civilizations unrelated to contemporary inhabitants. It's true that some of the remains did appear to have physical characteristic that differed from those of the native people of the area, raising legitimate concerns about who these people were and where they had come from.
According to one legend, a Native American skeleton seven feet tall was found buried in a large mound in Theresa. And in March 1911, a discovery on the shores of Delavan Lake in Walworth County made various newspapers, including the New York Times. Two brothers, Ernest and Chester Phillips, had purchased the lakefront property known as Lake Lawn and were curious about the great number of mounds located on their farm. They found conical mounds, which often contained burials, and various effigy mounds, constructed in the shape of strange animals and abstract formations.
The brothers toted shovels out to one of the mounds one day and dug a trench seven feet deep. Inside the mound, three feet below the ground's surface, they found a stone pit measuring seven by nine feet. The pit was filled with fourteen skeletons, which the astonished brothers ascribed to a "powerful pre-historic race." The Delavan Republican said, "The skeletons appear to be those of warriors of powerful frame and immense size when compared with people of this day and age."
The newspapers described one skull as possessing a very large cranium. The skeletons' breastbone were said to be much more prominent than those in ordinary skeletons, and the skulls were "flat-headed," suggesting these people may have belonged to one of the tribe that shaped the skulls of their infants by binding them to cradleboards.
The grave was met with meticulously constructed of cobblestones surrounded with gravel. At the base of the burial chamber, layers of white sand and blue clay, "sacred soils," has been added. The bodies all faced south-toward the lake-and had been covered with a foot-high mixture of clay and dirt baked hard by a fire; the process was repeated several times to build the grave to mound height.
No artifacts were buried with the skeletons, but the Phillips brothers decided to take the bones as souvenirs. They coated them with shellac for preservation, then trundled them off to their house in the city of Delavan, according to historians Gordon Yadon. The bones would not prove to be good-luck charms. Chester later committed suicide, and Ernest lived alone in the house until he died. When the contents of the place were sold at auction, the ancient skeletons were nowhere to be found.
For the record, at least one Ojibwa (Chippewa) man, by the name of Ekiega, stood six feet six. So the tall skeletons may have a logical explanation after all.
The Lake Lawn farm is now a resort and gold course, located just west of Delavan on highway 50. All together, there were over one hundred mounds on the property, but less than a fourth remain. A turtle mound still survives, minus part of its tail, along with oval, linear, and other effigy mounds, and the flagpole at the main driveway once stood in the center of a conical mound. Other burials were found in excavations conducted in 1955 by a Chicago archaeological society, and some of the unearthed artifacts are on display in the resort's restaurant.
The restaurant is constructed directly over what used to be a very large mound, and many of its past and current workers whisper that it is haunted. One nighttime phenomenon mentioned by many is the sound of voices speaking in another language coming from the direction of the lakeshore. The noises have been loud enough to set off sensors, one staff told us, but when the security people check, nothing is ever found. Perhaps they are hearing the ghostly voices of those sturdy ancient warriors asking the long-gone Chester and Ernest to please bring back their bones.
Odd Skeleton Unearthed
"Cambridge, Wisconsin. The eleventh skeleton that has been dug up in this neighborhood in the last five years was discovered by A. E. Morton while he was excavating for his home on Lake Ripley. The skeleton was entire and is supposed to be that of an Indian. An unusual is the double set of teeth in the lower jaw. The skeleton measured six feet three inches from head to base of foot. It will no doubt be presented to the state historical measure at Madison by Mr. Morton." -Eau Claire Leader, Wednesday, November 27, 1907

Jazzland/Six Flags New Orleans "A Six Flags site in New Orleans which was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The brackish tide stayed stagnant in the park for weeks on end and destroyed 80% of the park's equipment, leaving behind muddy clowns, smashed mermaids, and Mardi Gras figures stuck in an apocalyptic freeze-frame.
