Taking a Walk Through History: My Amazing Experience on a Guided Walking Tour

Are you bored and want to explore things? Rest assured, I will give you some ideas to make your days fun! In August, I decided to try a walking tour in Malang. I was searching for one, and I stumbled across @jelajahmalang_. I immediately contacted the contact person through WhatsApp. For registration, you only need to pay Rp5000/person. You will get further info about the trip on D-1. What about the cost of the tour? I've got you covered, lads! The paying system is pay as you wish. You can do this after the tour is over. As easy as it gets, all the transaction can be done using QRIS. So, don't worry cashless besties!

The tour started at 08:00 am. The contact person will give the contact number of the tour guide to set a place to meet. The journey began at Poltekkes Kemenkes Malang, Hutan Malabar, Idjen Boulevard, then Museum Brawijaya. Mbak Dini, our tour guide, explained the history clearly. She was a friendly person too, so we had so much fun with her. She took our photos together as well!

After strolling for hours in the sun, we were exhausted. So, we decided to try a legendary handmade ice cream in Idjen. You can always go to "Es Krim Wilis" for a delicious dessert. The price range around Rp20.000 per piece. It offers different flavors, including chocolate and raisin. However, some variants may contain rum. So, if you are not allowed to consume it you can always ask the shopping assistant there. Another pro tip to consume this ice cream is consume it right away! it easily melt but I can guarantee you it worth single penny that you spend.

The time for us to have fun was done around 11 am. The starting and closing point is the same. It was in Richeese Factory Idjen. We were starving so we decided to eat lunch together in @cacaodrinkofficial. It is located in Taman Gayem. The price range for the drinks starts from Rp10.000. Here you won't only find beverages but also food to eat. For a bowl of chili spicy oil noodle and 2 pieces of wonton you have to pay Rp15.000. It is such a steal! Don't worry if you cannot handle spicy food you can request without adding the chili oil or having it separated, so you can add it to your own liking.

Hari Selasa, 30 Mei 2023 pukul 08.00 WIT, aku dan kolega sudah siap di kantor salah satu instansi di Serui. Hari ini kami punya agenda penting yang merupakan tujuan utama kami pergi ke pulau ini. Acara berjalan lancar dan kami selesai pukul 13.00 WIT.

Langit dari kompleks perkantoran Kota Serui

Cuaca Kota Serui selama dua hari terakhir cerah. Hampir tidak ada awan yang muncul, dan beberapa kali membuat kami mesti mencari bayangan pohon atau bangunan untuk berteduh. Pukul 16.00 WIT kami berangkat Pantai Mariadei bersama Kaka Restu. Gara-gara melihat Kaka Restu mengemudi selama beberapa hari terakhir, aku jadi ingin belajar menyetir lagi. Terakhir kali aku memegang kendali mobil, bumper-nya hancur menabrak pagar besi rumah orang. 

Cara menyetir Kaka Restu dan Kaka Andi berbeda. Kaka Restu mengemudikan mobil seperti seorang bapak yang membawa anak-anaknya keliling kota sambil menceritakan sejarah dan hal menarik di kota ini. Sedangkan Kaka Andi membawa mobil seperti seorang pelaut yang berlayar di atas ombak pasang laut Indonesia bagian timur. Semalam baru aku tahu, memang Kaka Andi dulunya adalah pelaut. Pantaslah ia santai saja berkendara di jalan berkelok dan curam pegunungan Yapen, ketika orang lain sudah mundur duluan saat mendengar tempat tujuan kami. Aku ingin bisa nyetir mobil dengan perpaduan cara keduanya.

Kaka Restu membawa kami melewati jalan perbukitan. Dari jalan kami bisa melihat kampung-kampung tepi pantai dan beberapa pelabuhan kecil. 

Kami sampai di Kampung Ketuapi sekitar pukul 17.00 WIT. Kaka Restu memarkirkan mobil di tepi Pantai Mariadei. Aku duduk di beton pemisah jalan kampung dengan laut. Berbeda dengan pasir Pantai Sarawandori yang berwarna putih, pantai ini memiliki pasir dan kerikil berwarna hitam. Air laut yang sedang dangkal membuatku bisa melihat dasarnya. 

Hari ini aku sedih, atau aku merasa begitu. Cuaca cerah, langit biru, udara bersih, debur ombak, ikan segar, matahari terbenam. Hal-hal yang aku suka, sesuatu yang biasanya membuat suasana hatiku baik, tidak mampu menghilangkan rasa sedih ini. Seharian aku sedih, tidak nafsu makan. Mungkin kesedihan ini cuma pertanda mau menstruasi. Mungkin kesedihan ini dipicu oleh hal lain. Mungkin sebaiknya aku tetap merayakan hari ini meski sedang sedih.
