The Monkees, More of the Monkees You can hate on the Monkees all you want, they probably deserve it. But here are the facts: "She" is a fantastic song, "(I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone" is one of the greatest songs of the 60's, "I'm a Believer" is pure joy, and Davy Jones is unbelievably charming. FACTS. And no they didn't play their own instruments on this--THAT'S WHY IT'S SO GOOD.

The Monkees. “I’m a Believer.” I’m a Believer. Colgems, 1966.
Hot 100 #1 for 7 consecutive weeks: December 31st, 1966, January 7th, January 14th, January 21st, January 28th, February 4th, and February 11th of 1967.
Written by Neil Diamond for The Monkees television show, this is one of the songs that helped the imaginary band that wanted to be like the Beatles (The Monkees) become a real band. It was the best selling record of 1967 and one of Neil Diamond’s early successes in his career, contributing to his meteoric rise as a song writer that culminated in over 120,000,000 records sold.
Little known fact: Neil Diamond did pre-med at NYU on a fencing scholarship and was a nationally competitive fencer prior to dropping out to focus on writing music.

“Blue Revelations” // The Lewis & Clarke Expedition
FYI: “Lewis” and “Clarke” were Michael Martin Murphey and Owen Castleman, the writers behind, “What Am I Doin’ Hanging Round” by The Monkees, and is the sole reason to why I bought this 45.
