RIP, Ja’Net DuBois. A two-time EMMY-winning actress, best known for her portrayal of #WillonaWood on the @TheNormanLear-produced sitcom, #GoodTimes (a spin-off of #Maude, that was itself a spin-off of #AllInTheFamily); DuBois co-wrote (with #JeffBarry) and sang #MovinOnUp, the theme song to #TheJeffersons (yet another Lear spin-off). And while it was never released as a single, “Movin’ on Up” remains one of my very favorite TV theme songs, to this day. The more you know about Ron the better it gets. Besides being the anchor of The Archies and voice for other musical cartoons, in his own right he’s a wonderful singer-songwriter and has produced Pat Benatar, Cher, and 9 of Barry Manilow’s hit albums + Ron won 2 Tonys for producing “Ain’t Misbehavin’” and “Children of a Lesser God” on Broadway. That said, Ron is The Wizard of Bubblegum Music—songs that burst out and get people hooked. Over the years I’ve grown to appreciate the crafting that goes into making “ear candy” recordings.

Davy Jones spoke highly of Ron, and Ron would pop up at our shows. We were happy to do this song whenever we could:
