I was just going through my picture folder and stumbled over one I used for a reference once to draw musical Johnny from the first promo material... and he did not have a scar on the reference and someone commented I forgot the scar like I was a committing a crime.

And I just wanted to remind people that yeah, we get to know Johnny with his scar but he also just got it recently. People could draw Johnny before he got jumped by the socs. I see people draw Dally with scars though he is never said to have one. But it is okay to imagine him with battle scars.

Forgetting something isn't a crime. Making mistakes isn't something to be pointed out if not asked for. Mistakes happen. If it bothers you so much, maybe ask why he doesn't have a scar instead of assuming it was forgotten to make the artist feel bad about their drawing. (or imply they don't do the character right)

But also it is okay to draw him before he got the scar or make it look different. Maybe you draw a perspective where it isn't seen. Maybe you draw an AU where he never experienced this kind of horror that happened to him.

This is a sneak peak to a small part of a project I started last year and kinda have just been avoiding since then... uh... so say hi to Julius from Alex shot cupid but colored~

I was planning on making a whole thing with other characters both turned to stone and not who would be background or would be major in the storyline...

but then I got severly stuck when I realized my sketches kinda were all over the place and the only one I kinda liked was Julius's.

But I'm going to attempt it again and see if I can get more of their designs done so I can share it instead of sitting on it again ^^'

In case anyone's interested, I just put up some images about the Natural Color System (NCS) on deviantArt. It's a color model like RGB, RYB, or CMYK. But instead of being based off of the media you're making colours with (like the other models' light, pigments, or ink) the NCS is based off of theories about how we perceive light.

The NCS builds on a theory called 'color opponency', which suggests that certain colours basically 'fight' in our brains, and we see things through their struggle. White is fighting black, blue is fighting yellow, and red is fighting green. So the NCS has 4 primary colours! (Actually 6, because they include black and white.) None of the hues can mix with their opposite, but can mix with either colour of the other pair.

I really like the system. I like how messy it is in practice. Lots of areas have gaps, because our brains don't care about pretty models. There aren't NEARLY as many blues as there are reds and yellows, especially in the more saturated areas.

The colours in it are also a LOT nicer. RGB and CMYK do NOT care about our puny human brains. They care about PHYSICS. You can make good colours using those models, but all the pure colours hurt my eyes. But NCS colours feel nice and real. I look at NCS 'red' and say to myself, "yes, that it what red should look like!"

It has weaknesses, of course. If a model was perfect, it would no longer be a model. It can only be approximated on a screen. While there is science behind it, it isn't nearly as strong as the science behind some other colour models. I don't like its shades of purple. Etc.

But I really like realizing that colour is ALLOWED to be personal. Yes, it is about the refraction of light off various surfaces. But it's also about how our brains INTERPRET that refracted light. There are times to submit to the math (like when you want to print something as the actual colour you drew it), but there are times to push back and say,

"Magenta is an EYE SORE! That isn't red! I DO NOT see the world in shades of magenta!"

looking at other gms usage of obsidian and their note graphs are all so well organized and has different trees with seperate branches that look easy to navigate and use to find lore. meanwhile mine is just

and thats after i revised my system to lessen the amount of connections for each node. This is as "efficient" as i can get it.

but you know when fics get so big behind the scenes and suddenly you're scared to post it? like, you've got several full chapters written, an entire world and magic system built, and an entirely fleshed out OC, but like... the thought of sharing it with the world is just? scary? yeah. that's where i am.

knight!eddie also doesn't leave my head. i just don't want to post this monster of a fic that honestly reads more like a fantasy novel because i don't know if y'all would like it haha. it's very intense and genuinely doesn't read like just a fic. it reads like a book. it is a book at this point. if y'all really are interested, i could always post snippets and such. it's not a matter of characterization and stuff, but... i just put a lot of work into it and it's my baby lol
