got any rendering tips? its okay if not but i wanted to ask since ur a rly cool artist

thank youuu i wrote some paragraphs but none of them mean anything or make sense

ppl dont ask me this vry often bc i usually cell shade but uh when i doo render, ig i like to colour pick the inbetween colours of the two colours im trying to blend, and use that to blend and or shade lighter areas. which as im typing is a rly lame tip bc its super obvious and i think everyone does it but,

i prefer to leave it at that level of blended, i dont rly like using brushes that blend colours or airbrushes. i kinda prefer it to be a little more blocky, it rly comes down to personal style there- on knowing where to place shadows, probably do lighting studies idk.

ading little lines is um. it makes it look like a jump in depth i think. maybe. i have no idea. i like how it looks on her stomach here. i like that in cell shading too.

& see like how the shading on texs leg doesnt go around all the way to the. hm. like how it theres a line thats unshaded. i think that makes it look less flat, but its just something i do and definitely doesnt work in every scenario. also i dont think tex would have leghair if he doesnt have armpit hair i dont know why he does in this drawing. maybe he does. i dont know. i dont draw his legs much.

im not a teacher, clearly. look at irl shadows i think that helps more. subsurface scattering is cool and look at that too, even in cell shading i think its something tht always looks pretty nice in drawings but thrs no rules u can shade everything with a grey airbrush on colourburn if u so desire, i think anything can be pulled off well if you try hard enough.

April's Featured Release

Colourburn - Dense & Pika (2021, BMG) has dropped devastating releases on the floor over the last decade, including the release of only one compilation of many of those popular tracks, so it is no wonder they felt it was time to finally put out an original, full-length release. A little unexpected and out of leftfield (no-pun intended), Colourburn is a whole concept delivery, expanding their catalogue of traditional EPs (on and off their indie label, Kneaded Pains.)

Described to journalists as what Dense & Pika may sound like if they would play out live to a crowd, Colourburn enables the extra space for the duo to think, work out their rhythms, compositions and concepts. Also included are the guest appearances from Matthew Dear and Leftfield, following the DNA pattern of the electronic music album, which invites unification with outside forces.

As a tease, the cool-synth layered album opener "Entropy" is lifted from the album for the show, but these tracks (not available on the 2xLP version of the LP, by the way) only prop up the central four on the floor beat-driven tracks. Available now in both digital and LP format on BMG.
