All American Exclusive
Some New Releases from North American Artists

Lift Off — Ron Trent (2025, Rush Hour) follows up his previous venture with more eclecticism and a laid back sound, in clear interest for listener engagement, but holding your attention just enough to let go. Something you put on to set a vibe for, or as a primer toward something sporadic as the new LP from Pittsburgh Tracks,

Reality In Quotes — Shawn Rudiman (2025, Pittsburgh Tracks) whose ties to the East Coast scene comes out strong in this set of gritty, warehouse techno and electro. A bold plethora of tracks which like with Trent's, gives plenty of atmosphere. Leaving us with

The 4 Lights — Dan Curtin (2025, De:tuned) coming on strong with deep, melodic techno orchestrations, blending in some house and subtle experimental/intelligent elements. Not to be missed, any of it.

Radiccio Reissue
Orbital Reissues Halcyon, and Re-records Deeper B-Side with Tilda Swinton

Radiccio 2025 — Orbital (2025, London) revisits the Radiccio EP and The Brown Album (set to be re-released late May) which is often cross-referenced between old school and new school, due to the popularity of its lead track, Halcyon. With the use of the backward masked sampling of Kirsty Hawkshaw's vocal on It's A Fine Day, the track was later remixed for the LP and in its remixed form, appeared on several soundtracks, becoming a sort-of anthem for the 1990s. However, the original version off of the EP deconstructs the Opus III sample as another element, which was basically the formula.
Radiccio 2025 includes the original track listing which had featured Deeper, taken off of the 1989 Chime 12" and was interchanged with Chime as B-sides on some versions of the release. Deeper was recently performed live with the actress, Tilda Swinton last year while on tour, and as a result, she has a guest appearance on the studio version, retitled as Deepest. Radiccio 2025 opens up with Deepest, though, it is only featured exclusively on the digital version. It's worth noting that the other two remaining tracks from this EP are great examples of progressive house and proper, early trance. The Brown Album Expanded Edition is set to be reissued worldwide on May 23, before Memorial Day weekend.

The Times and Wolfgang Flür
Ex-Kraftwerk member returns with a new album, featuring guest lineup

Times — Wolfgang Flür (2025, Cherry Red) doesn't need much introduction, but indeed, a brief summary of the man's contributions to the legacy of Kraftwerk is warranted. Having much impact on the rhythmic elements of Kraftwerk's sound as the "drummer" of the band, Flür is noted for having to do with the earliest development of electronic percussion and the 'breakdowns' heard in their tracks, such as Trans Europe Express and The Man Machine, helping influence a generation of electronic dance music.
Flür departed the band after their last commercial release in 1986 (Electric Cafe, later reissued again as Techno Pop) and had continued on as a solo-artist, but went on to collaborate with several other musicians over the years, releasing albums under various projects. Times brings in a roster of guest appearances, including Detroit techno godfather: Juan Atkins, New Order's Peter Hook, Anthony Rother, Yello's Boris Blank and U 96 from the Transhuman release.

Everything Is Wrong (30th Anniversary)
The Return of Evil Ninja Moby (EIW DJ Mix Reissue)

Everything Is Wrong [Non-Stop DJ Mix] — Moby (2025, Little Idiot) put these mixes out a year after the original album had been released on Mute (and Elektra in the US) in 1995. Inspired by the three lead singles which had numerous remixes from both local and global talent (including Josh Wink, Westbam and DJ Seduction). The Non-Stop DJ Mix of these tracks was a response to the popularity of those remixes, and possibly to fulfill a request for a more dance-oriented album from Hall, to appease the ravers and technoheads during the mid-1990s. This reissue combines the two mixes (originally split to two discs), making them available digitally for the very first time, worldwide.

Paragon 990 Broadway
Brooklyn nightclub will close in April

As things take a dive economically and politically, it becomes more difficult to keep beloved venues and "safe spaces" open. Unfortunately, yet another location dedicated to underground-inspired events will be closing its doors this Spring. Paragon, which hosted the Dance Planet parties (often featuring pure techno talent, such as the likes of Joey Beltram) had only opened in 2022. It's the classic case of the rise of rent and possibly competition from other venues, shortening its lifeline. What will become of the Dance Planet series, or nightlife in general...only time may tell.
Paragon is at 990 Broadway, at the edge of Bushwick and Bedford-Stuyvesant, south of Williamsburg.
