alright, welcome to the definitely 100% official Wayfire gimmick blog.
I plan on actually posting about Wayfire tho. in case you haven't heard about it yet, "Wayfire is a 3D Wayland compositor, inspired by Compiz and based on wlroots", and it's pretty dang sexy if you ask me.
i currently still use Hyprland, but want to use this blog to document the transition over to a new Wayfire based setup. Here's my current one:
I plan on replacing a bunch of components with ags/Astral, a framework for creating desktop shell with gtk widgets on Wayland using Typescript.
I will also look into maybe switching theme from Cattpuccin over to Rose-pine, since their light variant is much nicer. Oh yeah, i might go light mode because that's what professionals like me prefer.
I'm currently still a bit bussy tho, so until I'm able to get some actual work done on the setup I'll probably be doing a little more gayposting, with the occasional software-focused post, much alike the rest of your favorite Linux gimmick blogs.

Trinity Desktop Environment (TDE) and Compiz! This might spark nostalgia. Twilight wallpaper for fun. Distro is Q4OS.

if you want the wobbly windows, burn my windows, and the Desktop Cube™ id highly recommend checking out compiz as a WM, it is fantastically silly and has all sorts of neat 3D effects to add a bit of hilarity to your everyday work. and it is highly customizable, and a lot of the effects (like the aforementioned Desktop Cube™) are actually really helpful for productivity.
I feel like Linuxposting. Let's Linuxpost.
Aka. Lemme just shill for Linux Mint for like a solid paragraphs because I need to scream.
I use Windows for uni (have to use Power BI Desktop for one class), but at the start of the semester, my Monday class teacher would ask us "do you use Windows or are you happy?"
This was a little jab since he's a Mac user. At the time I had my Ubuntu dualboot system. Picked it since I had worked with it before, wasn't the Greatest fan (it would behave weirdly and just close programs due to "memory usage" when I Know it shouldn't be acting like that)
Thing is, my Linux partition is tiny. Attempts at shrinking my Windows were. Not good. Eventually I accidentally broke my Ubuntu install by trying to remove packages I shouldn't.
Reinstalled it, realized it didn't spark joy. Found Linux Mint, switched over.
If I could, I'd nuke my Windows install. It's Just That Nice.
I can customize the FUCK out of it. System font. Icons. Made up filetypes just because. Desklets. Applets.
Felt like "my system" instead of "the system I own".
Originally had a Linux system purely to write fic. LibreOffice felt a lot more freeing compared to Word. Hell, I realized I refused to swear on my fics because it felt like I was being judged. Most of my AO3 fics (barring the very first one) were written in LibreOffice.
Only issue I had was the Burn my Windows extension (and another that made the windows all wobbly) won't make Cinnamon launch properly. Wonder why.
No biggie if y'all have to use Windows as well for X and Y reasons, but whenever I see the GRUB menu, I just ask myself: "am I gonna use Windows, or am I gonna be happy?"

as a child, i saw crazy compiz setups in earlier linux distros and was enchanted
"this is what it's all about" i told myself
"computers should look absolutely fucking crazy"
and now, after all these years
it's mine
and it rules exactly as much as it's supposed to

Proč to prostě by default nemůže fungovat normálně?

what distro r you using currently
for a couple years now I've been using Debian with LXQt installed. I have a couple computers, on my "good computer" I'm using Compiz (the WM that has all those sweet awesome 3D effects) and on the netbook I'm using openbsd-cwm. both of which are configured as psuedo-tiling psuedo-compositing window managers.
i would post a screenshot but the netbook's SSD just died, and the other one is currently taken apart so I can debug the netbook's SSD (which isn't going well)

Me, literally wearing a hoodie which says trust me, I'm an IT guy: yep, it me.
Why is Path of Exile 2 (which went into early access two days ago) intermittently CPU-spiking when it's running on Steam's wine fork (proton), rendering on one face of a pentagonal prism via compiz, on top of gnome flashback, on top of ubuntu, on top of like three different generations of gaming hardware sharing peripherals with two laptops via an excessively complicated switching system which still somehow has an earth fault somewhere...
...uh. good question? XD

#I find the hoodie hilarious for “gender? I never even met 'er” reasons#and my IT specialisation is broadly speaking 'weird legacy shit' so the shoe fits
