i bet that celebrities supporting israel right now and insisting for no ceasefire, would make movie or documentary in like 10 years talking about how they were brainwashed by israeli propaganda and how they are so sorry and have educated themselves since and now they are better people.
i dont understand how they can write/act/perform/tell stories of liberation and freedom, only to support oppressive colonial forces in real life. they have continued to spread false allegations made by the Israeli government to create consent for genocide. celebrity culture and idolism needs to be dismantled. everyone who signed the letter supporting biden does not deserve their platform.
the people of palestine have big hearts and I won't be surprised if they forgive these celebrities one day.
im not as kind. i will never forget what they are doing right now.

“I wanted to have a fresh slate where I didn’t have to start a show with all these memories of abuse. A few people knew [the harrasment] was happening, and to go to work every day and see those people who knew that he was sexually harassing me being ‘buddy-buddy’ with him felt like a betrayal every time,” she continued. “I loved everybody on that crew, and I loved working on that show, but it had that history of abuse, that it started with, and even though I handled it after two years, I was looking forward to a clean slate.”

I just love Nick so much, I don't want him to lose his mom again. So I just wanted you to know: that one day - when he marries another lucky girl who is enough for you, and you're playing with your grandkids while the Tan Huas are blooming, and the birds are chirping - that it was because of me: a poor, raised by a single mother, low class, immigrant nobody.

The letter is basically as pro-israel as you can get without actually outright saying you support genocide & the incessant bombing of Gaza/Palestine. Nearly 380 people. Only 107 requested a ceasefire in another letter. Obviously celebrities are airheads and don’t matter, but with millions in followings as well as millions in money & no demand for a ceasefire? This is… not good.
It solely discusses (israeli & apparently every other nationality in the world that’s not an Arab nation??) hostages whilst peddling lies that have already been debunked. It makes no mention of a ceasefire, no mention of the bombs israel has dropped (which is now estimated to be equal to that of Hiroshima & has killed nearly 6,000 people), & absolutely does not condemn israel at all.
Most of these names do not come as a shock, but very few are disappointing. Full list of names will be under the cut for those curious. Sorry it’s not properly alphabetized. Will say though, it’s a shame there’s no alternative ways to watch the medias these people are involved in without giving them attention. Such a shame.

Oh, that film rant was both beautiful & perfectly put. I so didn't ask the question (go awesome human that did), but you put into words something that's been annoying me about some humans for a while.
To add: From Kit Connor to Taika (probably spelt wrong), the capacity for some humans to assume they 'own' the celebs or that the celebs 'owe' them something both scares & annoys me greatly.
It may be too much to go there (& I promise I wish not to) , but the idea that one day a fan could kill a celebrity for not 'giving them what they want' is a real possibility that could happen again... Especially if this style of 'fan' keeps... Holding the narrative..
Let's hope that I'm just a natural pessimist.... *all fingers & toes crossed*
Y'know, I think of Constance Wu, who in 2022 talked about the backlash against her social media comments when she was actually disappointed about the renewal of Fresh Off the Boat. She had been intensely bullied by fans and viewers and told by other actors that she was a "blight on the Chinese American community," to the degree that she left social media completely and became so intensely depressed that she contemplated suicide. It also turned out that she had been sexually harassed by one of the producers of the show, which contributed to her reaction.
People throwing slurs at celebrities, harassing them over their private lives or public comments (again, Wu's big crime was not wanting to do that show for another year and saying that publicly), calling them things in escalating ways (yep, calling a Jewish person a Zionist willy-nilly is fucking dangerous), aggressively commenting on Tweets or Instagram posts...these things are dangerous. Celebrities are people. They don't owe us anything.
