Selecting the Ideal General Contractor for Your Project
Tumblr media
Embarking on a construction project, regardless of its size, demands the skillset of a proficient general contractor. The right expert can seamlessly transform your ideas into reality while ensuring a hassle-free process. Here are some vital aspects to consider when choosing the perfect general contractor for your endeavor.
Assessing Experience and Expertise Begin by evaluating the contractor’s experience and proficiency. An accomplished contractor with a robust history in projects similar to yours can offer essential insights and effective solutions. Seek out a professional who has managed projects matching your scope and complexity. Reviewing their portfolio and requesting references can provide a clearer understanding of their capabilities.
Verifying Licensing and Insurance Ensure your chosen contractor possesses the necessary licensing and insurance before making a commitment. Proper licensing indicates compliance with local and state regulations, affirming their qualifications. Equally important is insurance, which shields you from potential liabilities arising from accidents or damages during construction. Always ask for proof of both licensing and insurance to safeguard your interests.
Communication and Compatibility Successful construction projects hinge on effective communication. Your general contractor should be attentive, responsive, and receptive to your ideas and concerns. Compatibility between you and your contractor can significantly influence the project’s trajectory and outcome. Arrange an initial meeting to assess how well you can collaborate. Trust your instincts; feeling comfortable discussing your project with them is a positive indicator.
Clear communication also extends to the contract details. Ensure the contract comprehensively outlines project specifics, timelines, costs, and contingencies. A well-defined contract helps avert misunderstandings and serves as a reference if issues arise during the project.
Additionally, consider the contractor’s network of subcontractors and suppliers. A well-connected contractor can facilitate timely delivery of materials and services, maintaining your project’s schedule.
Evaluating Client Feedback Client reviews and testimonials are invaluable when selecting a general contractor. Positive feedback from previous clients can confirm the contractor’s reliability and quality of work. Search for reviews on unbiased platforms to obtain impartial opinions. If feasible, visit completed projects to witness the contractor’s work firsthand. This step provides a realistic expectation of their service quality.
Ultimately, trust is essential when choosing a general contractor. A contractor who communicates effectively, understands your vision, and exhibits professionalism will contribute to your project’s success. Investing time in researching and selecting the right contractor can save you time, money, and stress, resulting in a smoother construction experience.

Contractor/Plumber Izuku is coming to your home as he was hired by your parents for your birthday to finally fix your kitchen sink, plus install a new one and a new faucet. You'd already met his boss, his boss has done work for your parents too and your own home before and this is who you're expecting.
You work from home so it's going to be as simple as opening the door for the man and then writing him a check before scurrying back to your upstairs office. You wear comfortable and decent clothes since you're having a "guest." Jeans or leggings and a real bra for once.
A knock comes at the door to which you shout down that it's open, the front door opens and you hear boots stop at the small entry at the bottom of the steps politely. You figure you're being rude, the boss is a very good friend of your parents, to the point of going to LIFE events, and that you should come down and say hello. Gently guide him to the kitchen and offer him a bottled water or drink that he always politely refuses (unless it's beer). A quick ten, fifteen minute exchange max.
But it isn't your boss standing at the foot of the stairs. It's a man your age, wavy curls under a baseball cap that he wears backwards, freckled cheeks dusted with a youthful blush and a sheepish smile.
He was cute, it'd be easy to fall for a guy like him.
And your cat thinks you should, dashing under your feet before it lands on the next step, causing you to overcorrect, hit the wall and fall down the small flight of steps right into the hulking man's arms.
"Are you alright ma'am?"

Toji
18+
just some toji brain rot. jealous toji who loves showing dominance in every way.
general contractor Toji, who is restless while people work on his house. Tearing down walls, painting, drilling, and extending the driveway. all things he could have done or could learn to do. “You know I could just have my guys come in and do this for real cheap, right?”
general contractor Toji, who spends his day watching every move they make. Even going by as far as getting into his work clothes and demanding the work be done the “right way." It was really his way or the highway. “If your going to do it, do it right! You smear up and scrape down, then remove excess. understood.” Watching Toji command the respect of a group of men was hot, to say the least. But watching the way his muscles flex and bend under his loose-fitting work shirt sent you places. Your eyes trailed lower to his black multi-pocketed work pants, which had you drooling. The way they were only tight on him. Straining against those thick thighs, confining his mischievous thick member.
general contraction toji who sees how these men look at you. With nothing more than lust.
general contractor Toji, who knows that you can feel their eyes yet you still choose to parade around the house with your little pink matching set on. The rouging on the bust accentuates your perky breasts. The thin fabric of the set shows off your curves perfectly. Your lack of undergarments on display infuriates Toji.
general contractor Toji, who insists the crew working take a break (after hours of berating them and saying they could have a break once the work was done to his specifications). The crew knew better than to refuse or even question Toji.
general contractor Toji, who says, “Come here, doll, let me show you how to properly prepare a wall for painting. This way, you never have to hire hacks again." His motives are unknown to you.
general contractor Toji, who shows you step by step what to do. Guiding you every step of the way.
general contractor Toji, who says no yells at the crew, “I thought yall were lazy and incompetent. What kind of break was that? showed your asses all day but want to take a 15-minute break. tuh!   Get out of my house and come back in 45. We’re in the middle of something here.” after they walk in on the two of you obviously working on the wall.
general contractor Toji, who is anything but embarrassed when the crew returns 45 minutes later, baring witness to him working on your inner walls. Your lewd voice reverberated through their ears.
General contractor Toji, who has you bent over the ladder you had been working with. The ladder that was not yours. Yet the juices trickling down your legs onto the ladder marked it as yours. Hands gripping your hips hard enough to cause bruises.
general contractor Toji, who looks back at the crew who stairs at the two of you in awe. Toji smirks at them knowing what’s going through their minds.
general contractor toji who keeps fucking into you even with an audience. Toji who keeps fucking into you because of who is in the audience. Making sure to hold your head at such a position you couldn’t look away from him or your new friends. “You wanted this didn’t you. Parading around in this flimsy ass outfit. You might as well be naked. You’re clenching down on me so hard baby.”
General contractor toji who grabs one of your legs so your audience can “Get a better view of me fucking my perfect little pussy. Look baby it looks like they want a taste.”
General contractor Toji who threatens to let them have their way with you if you dare hire “these hacks” again. His words.
General contractor toji who grabs you by the hair and forces you to crawl over to your audience. Only to throat fuck you not even 10 feet away.
General contractor toji who busts his load on your face proudly. Showing off his handy-work. “Now this is a job well done boys.”
General contractor toji who fired the crew and finish’s their job days later. All on his own. Just like he said he could.
General contractor toji who got just what he wanted.
General contractor toji who walks into his kitchen happily knowing all the hard work that was put into it.

Some people, in defense of generative A.I., will claim that A.I. builds from influences the same as human beings do.  This is, to me, the first indication that I’m talking to somebody who either does not understand how A.I. works, how human creativity works, or most likely both.  Something that needs to be clearly understood is that A.I. has no intelligence.  It does not “think”.  It is a predictive text program that simulates human expression by ingesting unfathomable amounts of data and trying to replicate that data.  It does not know and can not know what meaning its outputs have.  Further, it has no desire and no emotion to motivate action or decisions.  It simply runs a program and assembles pixels or words to match what seems most like other correct pixels and words in its vast data set.  It aggregates.  It produces averages. Humans, obviously, do not create like this.  Humans have intentions and purpose to what we do.  These intentions are sometimes deep, sometimes shallow, sometime clear, and sometimes nebulous.  But we always have emotion and thought connected to what we make.  What we create is guided by intent colliding with discovery, and these two states feed each other.  And the influence that we draw from existing work is not an analysis of pixels, but an emotional response to how that work makes us feel.  Even in analytical study of form or anatomy, our brains do not operate like computer programs.  While committing information to memory, we also interpret and seek to understand and this affects how that information is later able to be used.  Because we are each an individual, infinitely complex being, our different physiological, environmental, and cultural variations bring us to infinite different endpoints.  Like it or not, we all see the world slightly differently and our creative expressions reflect this. It has become standard to describe A.I. as a tool.  I argue that this framing is incorrect.  It does not aid in the completion of a task.  It completes the task for you.  A.I. is a service.  You cede control and decisions to an A.I. in the way you might to an independent contractor hired to do a job that you do not want to or are unable to do.  This is important to how using A.I. in a creative workflow will influence your end result.  You are, at best, taking on a collaborator.  And this collaborator happens to be a mindless average aggregate of data. To some, the prospect of collaborating with the sum average of all artists is apparently an attractive prospect.  Maybe you feel you are below average in some areas and the A.I. will therefore raise the quality of those areas.  But every percent that you hand over to the A.I. is a percent less of your unique voice, perspective, and intention.  And for folks who use A.I. generations wholesale, that comes out to a 100% loss of anything personal or unique that they might bring.

What are the Regulations for Residential Metal Roofing in Hurricane Zones?
If you’re considering upgrading your home with residential metal roofing, especially in hurricane-prone areas, you’re likely considering balancing style, durability, and compliance with local regulations. You want a roof that enhances your home’s curb appeal and stands strong against harsh weather conditions. This article will guide you through the essential rules and considerations for residential metal roofing in hurricane zones, ensuring your investment is safe and compliant.
Understanding Residential Metal Roofing Regulations
Understanding local regulations is key when it comes to residential metal roofing in hurricane zones. These regulations are designed to protect homes from severe weather and often vary depending on your state and municipality. Here’s what you need to keep in mind:
Building Codes and Standards
Most hurricane-prone areas have specific building codes that dictate the types of materials and techniques that can be used in roofing projects. The International Building Code (IBC) provides a framework for these regulations, but local governments may have additional requirements.
For example, Florida has some of the strictest building codes in the United States to protect against hurricanes. Here, residential metal roofing must meet specific wind load requirements, often requiring roofs to withstand winds of 130 mph or more. It’s important to check with your local building department to understand the codes that apply to your area.
Material Specifications for Residential Metal Roofing
Not all metal roofing materials are created equal, especially regarding hurricane resistance. Here are some material considerations to keep in mind:
Type of Metal: Steel and aluminum are the most common metals used for residential roofing. Steel is generally more durable, while aluminum is lightweight and corrosion-resistant. Choose a material that meets local wind resistance specifications.
Coating and Finishes: Look for metal roofing products that have undergone rigorous testing for durability and resistance to the elements. Coatings such as Galvalume or a high-quality paint finish can extend the life of your roof and help it withstand hurricane conditions.
Panel Profile: The shape and interlocking mechanism of the panels can affect performance during high winds. Standing seam metal roofing, for instance, is often recommended as it provides a seam that is less likely to allow water penetration and has enhanced wind resistance.
Installation Requirements
Proper installation is just as important as the materials you choose. Always hire a licensed and experienced roofing contractor familiar with local codes to ensure compliance with regulations. Here are some installation points to consider:
Fastening Techniques: How your roofing panels are fastened can significantly impact their performance in high winds. Ensure your contractor uses appropriate fasteners and installation methods, as local codes specify.
Roof Pitch: The pitch of your roof can affect how well it sheds water and withstands wind. Certain codes may require a minimum pitch for metal roofs in hurricane zones, so confirm this with your contractor.
Flashing and Sealants: Proper flashing and high-quality sealants are essential to prevent leaks. Ensure these materials meet local building standards for use in hurricane-prone areas.
Choosing the Right Contractor for Residential Metal Roofing
Finding the right contractor can make all the difference when it comes to meeting regulations and ensuring the longevity of your roof. Here are some tips for selecting a qualified professional:
Licensing and Insurance: Always choose a licensed and insured contractor in your state. This protects you in case of accidents or damages during installation.
Local Experience: Look for contractors who have experience working in hurricane zones. They’ll be familiar with the specific regulations and challenges of metal roofing in these areas.
Warranties and Guarantees: A reputable contractor should offer warranties on the materials and workmanship. This ensures that you have recourse if any issues arise after installation.
Regular Maintenance for Residential Metal Roofing
Once your metal roof is installed, keeping up with regular maintenance is crucial, especially in hurricane zones. Here are some maintenance tips to keep your roof in top condition:
Regular Inspections: Conduct inspections at least twice a year and after any severe weather events. Look for signs of damage, such as loose panels or rust spots, and address any issues promptly.
Cleaning: Keep your roof clear of debris, as this can trap moisture and lead to corrosion. If you’re unsure how to clean your roof safely, consider hiring a professional service.
Check Fasteners and Seams: Over time, fasteners may loosen, and seams degrade. Periodically check to ensure everything is secure and in good condition.
Protect Your Home with Resilient Metal Roofing
Navigating the regulations for residential metal roofing in hurricane zones can seem daunting. Still, with the right knowledge and preparation, you can make informed decisions that enhance your home’s safety and aesthetic appeal. Always consult local building codes, choose high-quality materials, and work with experienced contractors to ensure your roofing project meets all necessary standards.

For SoS:
Can you please do #07 “Now, now, don’t play shy now. Let me hear you!” with Coyote? When you have the time
Watermelon Sugar | Javy "Coyote" Machado
Summary: You end up staying with Javy longer than you had planned. New kinks are discovered after a night at The Hard Deck.
Pairing: Javy "Coyote" Machado x f!reader
Content warnings: SMUT (18+), fingering, unprotected p in v, voyeurism if you squint, brief choking, squirting
Prompt: "Don't play shy now. Let me hear you."
This was written for my Summer of Smut writing event. This is also a direct sequel to Tastes Like Strawberries. Feel free to send in requests!
Your AC unit was broken broken. Javy got all of the right parts to fix it, but your house was so old that the AC was more than a surface-level problem. Your insurance company was kind enough to hire contractors to fix all of the problems before they got any worse, but the process would take weeks. So, Javy and Jake let you stay with them for longer.
It was a Friday night, and everyone had planned to meet up at The Hard Deck. Being Javy’s girlfriend, you were always welcome to join the group for whatever activities they had planned. You had decided on wearing one of your favorite striped sundresses. Javy was going to drive both of you there, but you weren’t really planning on drinking. You got there at around the same time as Phoenix, and she asked you questions about your dress as you walked in.
As soon as Rooster walked in, the night was in full swing. Everyone was singing and dancing, and you weren’t really ready for the night to be over. You were laughing about something that Fanboy had said when Javy walked up and put his hands on your waist.
“You ready to go? I’m feelin’ kinda tired,” he whispered in your ear. You chuckled and turned to face him.
“Yeah, we can go. Fanboy, I’ll see you around.”
“Yeah, it was good talking to you!” He loudly said as Javy took your hand and led you out of the main entrance after paying his tab. You barely made it to the car as he pushed you up against the passenger side door and started kissing you.
“You look beautiful tonight. You always look beautiful but tonight is just… Wow,” he said.
You chuckled and patted his chest before getting in the car. His hand barely left your thigh the whole time, and you were dying to get back to the apartment. The drive was quiet except for the music softly playing. Hangman had left the bar way earlier than you and Javy did and you hardly even noticed until the two of you walked in and saw him on the couch.
“You left early,” you said.
“Yeah, I tried to get this girl’s number and it ended up being really embarrassing. I think I lost my game.”
“Sounds like it.”
After you put your bag down and took your shoes off, Javy walked you to his room. You were barely able to plug your phone in before he had his hands on you. He practically tackled you onto the bed and you couldn’t help but laugh. You sighed when he started to kiss your neck and grab your thighs. With your hands on his neck, you guided him so that his lips were on yours. He pulled away to take his shirt off and scoot you up so that you were both on the bed. The bottom of the dress was around your waist and he quickly removed your panties.
You moaned into his mouth as he started to slowly finger you, and it wasn’t long before you felt your release. He pulled his fingers out of you and groaned as he sucked your arousal off of them before leaning down to kiss you. You unbuttoned his pants and eagerly tugged them down before starting to jerk him off.
“Baby, y’gotta let me help you. Hold on,” he said as he stood up and kicked his pants off.
You could feel the tip of his cock teasing you when he got back on top of you. You let out a high pitched squeal when he started to fuck himself into you, but you quickly covered your mouth. He glanced up at you and moved your hand.
“Don’t play shy now. Let me hear you,” he said.
“But Jake-,”
“Let him hear. Gentle or rough?”
“Javy, I don’t know-,”
“Gentle,” he eased himself into you, “or rough?” He asked, as he pulled out leaving just the tip in before slamming back into you.
“Fuck, please, give it to me rough,” you moaned.
He nodded his head and put a pillow under your back before helping you wrap your legs around him. A thin layer of sweat started to form between the two of you as Javy set a brutal pace. You weren’t even trying to be quiet, and something about the fact that Jake was probably hearing you turned you on even more. Javy reached down and put light pressure on the sides of your neck and it felt like pure ecstasy. After he released his hand from your neck, he moved you down the bed so that he could get a better angle as he fucked you. You could hear the bed frame repeatedly hitting the wall with how hard he was going.
“I’m gonna cum,” you breathed out.
Your thighs tightened around him as he harshly rubbed your clit. The grunts and moans between the two of you were loud enough to cover up the sound of the bed creaking. Javy was covered in your release and there was a wet spot on the sheets under you, and he came quickly while continuing to pound himself into you. When he got up and laughed, your first instinct was to cover yourself with the sheets.
“What’s so funny?” You asked.
“We broke the bed.”
You turned and saw how noticeable the tilt was. It was kind of funny. You giggled and got up to get a clean shirt out of his closet before going to the bathroom. Javy cleaned you up and took the sheets off of the mattress. You had to sleep at the opposite end of the bed that night because Javy didn’t want too much blood to rush to your head.
Javy had the following day off. It was going to rain for most of the day and no one would’ve been able to fly, anyways. You were going to go together to get a new bed frame, and both of you walked out of his room at the same time. It was obvious that Jake had just gotten back from the gym because he was in workout clothes and sweaty. Things in the kitchen were pretty quiet as you grabbed a mug for your coffee and Javy tossed fruit into the blender for a smoothie.
“It sounded like you two were having a good night,” Jake said. You let out a loud laugh and took a sip of your coffee.
“It’s too early for this,” Javy said.

Bathroom Remodeling in Rancho Bernardo: A Complete Overview
Tumblr media
When it comes to enhancing the comfort and value of your home, few upgrades can have as significant an impact as a bathroom remodel. Whether you’re looking to create a more relaxing space or increase your home’s resale value, a bathroom remodeling in Rancho Bernardo can offer numerous benefits. In this blog post, we’ll explore the essential elements of bathroom remodeling, the key considerations to keep in mind, and why GBGC Group is the perfect choice for your next renovation project.
Why Bathroom Remodeling Matters
A bathroom is more than just a functional space; it’s a retreat where you begin and end your day. Over time, however, bathrooms can become outdated or no longer serve the needs of a growing family or evolving lifestyle. Remodeling your bathroom can:
Increase Property Value: A well-executed bathroom remodel is one of the most cost-effective ways to boost your home’s market value. Whether you're planning to sell in the near future or not, a beautiful, modern bathroom can make a huge difference.
Improve Functionality: If your bathroom feels cramped or poorly designed, remodeling can help maximize space and improve its functionality. You can install modern storage solutions, optimize the layout, and update plumbing to enhance the overall user experience.
Enhance Aesthetics: A fresh, modern bathroom with updated materials, colors, and fixtures can give your home a luxurious feel. From sleek vanities to stylish tiles, a bathroom remodel is an opportunity to elevate the design and create a cohesive look that reflects your personal style.
Key Considerations for Bathroom Remodeling
When remodeling your bathroom, there are several factors to consider to ensure a successful outcome:
Budget: Establishing a clear budget is crucial for any remodeling project. Bathroom remodels can range from simple updates to full-scale renovations, so knowing how much you're willing to spend will help guide your choices for materials, fixtures, and labor costs.
Design and Layout: Before diving into the project, think about your vision for the space. Are you looking for a spa-like oasis or a more functional, minimalist design? Do you need more storage space or want to upgrade your shower or bathtub? A good designer can help you maximize your space and achieve your desired look.
Quality Materials: Choosing the right materials is essential for a bathroom remodel. Water-resistant options like porcelain tiles, marble countertops, and durable cabinetry will ensure your bathroom stands the test of time. Also, keep in mind that high-quality materials can add to the overall aesthetics of the space.
Hiring a Contractor: Choosing the right contractor can make all the difference in the success of your remodel. You need someone with the expertise, skills, and experience to bring your vision to life while ensuring the work is done to code and on time.

Choosing the Best Basement Finishing Contractors in West Bloomfield: A Complete Guide
When it comes to transforming your basement into a functional and stylish space, choosing the right contractor is crucial. Basement finishing is a significant investment, and you want to ensure the job is done correctly, efficiently, and within your budget. If you're in West Bloomfield, Michigan, you're in luck—this area is home to some of the most skilled Basement Finishing Contractors in West Bloomfield. In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know to make an informed decision and turn your basement into a space you’ll love.
Tumblr media
Why Finish Your Basement?
A finished basement adds value to your home, creates additional living space, and can serve multiple purposes—whether it’s a home theater, gym, office, or guest suite. However, the key to a successful basement finishing project lies in hiring the right professionals.
How to Choose the Best Basement Finishing Contractors in West Bloomfield
Check Credentials and Experience Look for contractors with a proven track record in basement finishing. Ensure they are licensed, insured, and have experience working on projects similar to yours. For example, Soutoura Services (www.soutouraservices.com) specializes in basement finishing and has a portfolio of successful projects in West Bloomfield.
Read Reviews and Testimonials Online reviews and testimonials can provide valuable insights into a contractor’s reliability, quality of work, and customer service. Look for contractors with consistently positive feedback.
Ask for a Detailed Estimate A reputable contractor will provide a transparent and detailed estimate, including labor, materials, and timelines. Avoid contractors who give vague quotes or pressure you into making quick decisions.
Evaluate Their Portfolio Review their past projects to gauge their expertise and style. A contractor with experience in Luxury Home Renovation in Bloomfield Hills or High-End Kitchen Remodeling in Grosse Pointe is likely to bring the same level of craftsmanship to your basement project.
Discuss Timelines and Communication Clear communication is essential for a smooth project. Ensure the contractor provides a realistic timeline and keeps you updated throughout the process.

Fire Damaged Homes For Sale
Unlocking The True Worth: How To Determine The Value Of A Fire-Damaged Property
Selling a fire damaged property can be a challenging task, especially when it comes to determining its value. Understanding the factors that influence the worth of a fire-damaged home is essential for making informed decisions. Here's a guide to help you navigate this complex situation.
Tumblr media
Understanding Fire Damage
Fire damage can vary significantly from one property to another. Some homes may have only minor smoke damage, while others might be severely compromised structurally.
To determine the value of a fire-damaged property, you'll need to assess the extent of the damage. This includes looking at both visible damage, such as burned walls and floors, and hidden issues, like smoke infiltration in walls and ceilings.
Get a Professional Assessment
One of the best ways to gauge the value of a fire-damaged property is to hire a professional appraiser. An appraiser can provide an unbiased evaluation, taking into account the type and extent of damage and current market conditions.
They will help you understand how much the fire damage has impacted the property's value compared to similar homes in the area.
Consider Repair Costs
Another critical factor in determining the value of a fire-damaged home is the cost of repairs. Depending on the severity of the damage, repair costs can range from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands.
It's vital to get estimates from contractors who specialize in fire damage restoration. These estimates will help you understand how much money you may need to invest in the property before it can be sold at market value.

Evaluate the Market
The real estate market plays a significant role in valuing any property, including those with fire damage. Research the local market to see how similar properties are being priced.
Look for homes that have recently sold in your area and those currently on the market. This will give you a clearer picture of what buyers are willing to pay for fire-damaged homes.
Disclose Fire Damage
When selling a fire-damaged property, being transparent about the damage is crucial. Most states, including Tennessee, require sellers to disclose any known defects or issues with the property.
Being upfront about the fire damage can help you avoid legal complications down the road and build trust with potential buyers.
Factor in Emotional Impact
Selling a fire-damaged home isn't just about numbers; it can also involve emotional considerations. Homeowners may feel attached to their properties, making the valuation process more challenging.
Understanding the emotional toll of the damage can help you approach the sale with the right mindset, allowing for more rational decision-making.
Explore Selling Options
You have several options when it comes to selling a fire-damaged property. You can choose to sell it as-is, which may attract cash buyers looking for a bargain.
Alternatively, you could invest in repairs to improve its market value. Each option has pros and cons, so weigh them carefully based on your circumstances.
Final Thoughts
Determining the value of a fire-damaged property requires a careful evaluation of multiple factors, including the extent of damage, repair costs, land value, insurance coverage, and market trends.
Whether you choose to restore the property or sell fire damaged homes for sale, understanding these elements will help you make an informed decision.
For homeowners, investors, or buyers, fire-damaged properties can present unique challenges but also opportunities when approached with the right knowledge and strategy.

Anyone missing Golden Oaks Library? Ever wonder what it would have been like if we'd have gotten a proper replacement? Wonder no longer!
I finally got around to making a vector for the new tree that replaces Golden Oaks Library in my fanfic series Flurry Heart's Story. A reformed Tirek grew this tree at the end of "Tirek vs Scorpan", but some contractors were hired by Twilight Sparkle to renovate it to make it more livable like Golden Oaks Library was back in the day. It is now a the "Harmony Clubhouse". It first appears in the next episode of FHS and will be a recurring location throughout the series from now on. Flurry and her friends are about to have their first sleep over in it, but the ghost of a certain ram is on the loose and is looking to make their first night in this clubhouse a literal living nightmare!
If you'd like to read Flurry Heart's Story, you can start here: https://www.fimfiction.net/story/465425/flurry-hearts-story-elements-assemble
My FIMfiction homepage has an episode guide at the top, and I'd highly recommend following me if you're interested in reading this series! https://www.fimfiction.net/user/63410/AleximusPrime

Can I ask, how does one go about becoming an editor? Like, where do you apply for jobs?? What kinda training do you do?? Are there companies that hire out editors to writers? Im just so confused about it. Ive always been interested in editing, and am considering doing it as a job
Editing is a weird career.
Really, I started as a writer. Like, when I was eleven. In jr. high and high school, I was in a writing critique group and I wrote a lot. I graduated from university with a degree in theatre, film, and creative writing. I was often the person my friends came to when they needed help with a paper (or the correct placement of a semicolon). I've been involved in fandom since I was about 17, and I was very fortunate to fall in with a group of excellent writers who were also excellent betas and editors. I learned a TON from them without realizing how much I was learning.
I started editing by accident, really. Sometimes, that's how it happens. I mostly got gigs here and there through friends or word of mouth. About ten years ago, I got more serious about it. I worked for companies that paid horribly. Then I did an editing test for a company that paid less horribly, and they hired me. After a couple of years editing countless academic papers, ESL academic papers, novels, emails, business documents, etc., I decided to branch out on my own (mostly so I could work on more fiction; I was burned out on academic papers).
I joined Editors Canada, started volunteering with them, got a lot more experience, and took a few continuing ed courses to gauge where my skills were at and to determine if I needed to upgrade my education. I decided I didn't need to do that, because I already knew the things I was being taught.
I read a lot of books on editing, writing, and craft. I familiarized myself with the Chicago Manual of Style, APA, MLA, and a couple of other style guides. I learned the differences in spelling, punctuation, and style between US, UK, and Canadian English. I went to webinars, conferences, and courses (all the major editing associations offer these, usually cheaper or free for members; they are a great way to determine what kinds of editing you actually LIKE). I learned the difference between rules and preferences, and when to apply them to a text.
I work freelance, which means I have my own business as a sole proprietor. I'm a contractor with a couple of companies who sometimes send work my way, but most of my clients are individual writers planning to either self-publish or polish their work before seeking traditional publication via the agent/tradpub route.
Freelancing has many perks but is not particularly secure. Especially if you're American and need an employer to provide health insurance, or if you're single and don't have another income to lean on when contracts are scarce. These days, most of my work comes via referrals, my website, or the listing I have in the Editors Canada directory. I follow a couple of editing-related Facebook groups; I've learned a lot there, and I've also picked up the occasional client. A couple of people have found me through LinkedIn. A couple of people have found me through here!
I've never worked in-house for a publisher--mostly because having control over how many hours I work and when I work them is my top priority. In-house is a whole different ballgame; I know a bit about it from my peers, but I don't have firsthand experience to pass on. These jobs are supposedly more secure--and they tend to be salaried, with benefits, etc.
"Editing" is a GIANT umbrella term. There are SO many types of editing out there. People tend to think of book publishing first, but that's only one avenue. There are also different kinds of editors who tackle different types of problems. I've done enough of everything to recognize that I am much happier when I'm working on big picture stuff--coaching, developmental editing, manuscript critique. Others specialize in the nitty gritty mechanical details that make proofreading or copy editing a better fit.
Right now, the bulk of my work life is actually spent ghostwriting. The client's business-materials editor posted that his client was looking for someone to help with characterization in a novel. I ended up winning that contract. He came to me with one monster book. I helped him realize it needed to be at least a trilogy, and now he has plans for a ten-book series--and I'm helping write it. But I got the job because of the work I've done on the development side of editing--and because I've spent SO MUCH TIME learning about characterization (via acting, fandom/writing fanfic, reading, etc.). So. It all feeds into the same place.
The tl;dr is that my experience has been a bizarre mix of being in the right place at the right time, ongoing professional development, and learning the value of volunteering with an association. If I were starting down this career path right now, I'd probably do an editing certificate (there are many out there, depending on country). I'd definitely join an association sooner (even as a student member) and volunteer.
Actually, the ultimate tl;dr is ... this industry IS CONFUSING. So, don't feel bad about being confused. It's actually probably about eight different kinds of job wearing a trench-coat and pretending it's something called "Editing."

Analysis of the Right Wing
Underneath anger is always fear and sadness. Right wing supporters are almost universally angry. Asking them will only get you the stock answers they’ve been fed by right wing leaders, the usual scapegoats. So let’s explore what they may really be angry about.
It isn’t enough to say change. Change is usually tough on everyone but to morph into anger it has to metastasize into a perceived threat. For those at the lower end of our job market they see the jobs they know changing. Some into more highly skilled ones, some into jobs requiring different kinds of skills altogether. The prospect of having to start over in a new field is not only emotionally daunting from a retraining standpoint it may also be expensive. So their real and potential losses of income opportunities are the underlying fear. They should be angry that there isn’t assistance for retraining.
Without this type of change we’d still have livery stables instead of auto mechanics. They should be angry at the wealthy and the corporations who get away with paying a smaller percentage of their income in taxes than they do, who make enormous sums of money by outsourcing jobs overseas, turning employees into “independent contractors” etc. They should support unions in order to have some power to demand better treatment including training from their employers. But the right wing mythos of jobs taken away by immigrants and of unions as corrupt organizations responsible for “make work jobs” that bankrupt companies is firmly embedded in conservative thinking, along with the persistent (racist) idea that affirmative action means unqualified people getting ahead.
Next are the folks who may not see their jobs as under as much threat, but who see the solutions (free retraining, stronger unions, more taxes on the wealthy) as part of a “socialist/communist conspiracy”. These people only know those words as synonyms for dictatorship and limitations of freedom. Their most common complaint about the “socialist” programs we currently have is that they are riddled with fraud. Of course the fact that those programs have no where near the individual fraud that businesses perpetrate and encourage doesn’t get through. A big reason may be that taking advantage of every opportunity to game the system is what these folks are all about. In other words, that’s what THEY would do. Programs to ensure women and minority owned businesses are given a chance to bid on projects is met  by white males putting their businesses in their wife’s name to take advantage of the program. This is also epitomized by the Tea Party who doesn’t want to pay any taxes for any program they can’t get back more than they contributed. In the private sector this is called insurance fraud. Constantly looking for the most reward for the least effort is their mantra and why they always fear that any sort of welfare will encourage idleness. Once again, assuming others will do what they would do with their outlook on the world.
Then of course there are the Christian Nationalists. It’s obvious that they are Christians in name only. They are the perfect example of what Rev Billy Graham said about the mixing of religion and politics being bad for both. The main proponents are obviously interested in money and power but the rest of the folks who follow along want simplistic answers to complex moral questions. It’s the simpleton’s guide to a moral life - just follow these absolute, unwavering rules and you’re good. It shouldn’t be hard to see why these same people who want simplistic answers to complex problems don’t want to be confronted with others not following their rules. The very freedom of others to do so is a confrontation to their view that there is only one way to be good. But it can get worse.
Many years ago I had the distinct displeasure of having to supervise a woman who was hired as some sort of employee PR person to build morale and spirit. This had absolutely nothing to do with my department. The executive who hired her didn’t want to supervise her, his subordinate didn’t want to and so at the bottom of the management ladder it fell to me. It quickly became clear why. Although in her 50’s her outlook on the world was like an adolescent, complete with the black and white , all or nothing  thinking common to that group, (No, she was not mentally challenged in any of the usual ways we would use that term.)  If she is still alive I’ll bet she’s a Christian Nationalist. She actually believed that the reason there had ever been a famine in the US was because we had “In God We Trust” printed on the money! This is the level of absolute blind faith we are up against. No doubt if there ever was a famine it would be the fault of people who did not toe her religious line.
All of these groups may share in the racist opposition to “wokeness” as they like to call it. Sure it’s their fear of losing their unacknowledged and undeserved privilege but even more than that is a resistance to understanding all of the ways white people have kept POC in subordinate roles. Recognizing that would require action to dismantle systemic racism. And that will require a lot of change, the one thing all of these different segments don’t want to see.
They claim woke liberals are a cancel culture, but they never talk about the cultures whites have tried to erase and suppress. The only culture I know of that we liberals are trying to cancel is the glorification of traitors who fought against the US to preserve slavery; or the whitewashed view of history that exaggerates the contributions of white people while ignoring or downplaying the contributions of POC.
It doesn’t excuse their support of the status quo, but their opposition to change is so ingrained that it applies to the most trivial of nonissues; e.g. bathrooms and sports (men’s & women’s). [Just to be perfectly clear, bathrooms don’t offer a free view of anyone’s privates, weight and strength classes for sports eliminates any real basis for separate gender sports.]
This is where solutions are to be offered. Before anything else can happen, especially the effective “deprogramming” of the cult, we must restore journalism to a state of honesty.
An updated version of the Fairness Doctrine needs to be adopted.
No commercials or ads during the news, news is provided as a public service.
To separate real news from the opinion no commentary during or immediately before or after the news.
Stations are of course still free to cover or not some stories, but if they cover a story fact checking and good journalistic standards must be followed.
Reporting on the speculations of others is not news.
Commentary and opinion must be clearly identified as such, and not called “news” or presented immediately before or after the actual news.
Closely related to this is the removal of the “issue ad” exceptional to FEC rules. This giant loop hole allows unlimited and unreported money to be spent on a candidate by simply omitting the words “Vote for”.  Ultimately public financing of campaigns will have to come in to avoid the use of money to overwhelm the issues and policies of the candidates.
While there are other changes that I believe should come about, these would at least remedy the mass of misinformation that fuels both conspiracy nuts and fear based politics.
