Kulikov
Act 1: The Witness
Well I said I'd do it. Here's the prologue and chapter one of my fic, Kulikov. I'll be posting the first act here, but probably not the rest
There was someone there, on Nostramo, who cared. Who treated him kindly, tried to bring him away from that dark path. The love was there, it changed nothing.

Prologue
It started with an auspex ping. A flat tone that indicated something closeby in the endless dark. A dull green light flicked on, the cogitator whirred into life.
An asteroid, high in adamantine content. Completely stationary- the sensors returned some initial responses in regards to void anchors. A ring of static pylons, stout and streaked with the grime of the void, but each as tall as a man.
From the far side of its face, the asteroid was featureless, pockmarked by debris but otherwise nothing special. Wear had given way to a shine at certain angles- the adamantine, the only true export Nostramo had been valued for.
Drawing closer, choosing another face, a dark chasm cut into it. An overhang creating a cave-like mouth, the floor worn purposefully flat and smooth for craft to land upon it. Atmosphere generators flanked the entrance like gargoyles. Beyond them, further into the dark, a set of heavy doors with a dark symbol plastered upon them. A bat-winged skull was engraved upon the metal, proving to the ones who had sought this place that it was what they were looking for.
The landing pad was large enough for a single Stormraven, though many other craft hung in the void around it, waiting. Twelve astartes left the vessel, moving in tight formation to the doors, blue armour throwing up strange reflections on the worn cave walls.
The machine spirit of the door reacted quickly to the commands given to it, showing that maintenance had been performed recently. Indeed, the air that rushed forward was not stale- it was recently refreshed, the lack of security measures speaking to its remote location. The architects did not intend for it to be found. This made the squad act with further caution, especially as there seemed to be no light inside the reliquary.
The noise of armoured boots on metal stairs seemed oddly muffled as they proceeded forward, pauldron to pauldron in a space clearly designed for them. The reliquary was not large, having only a few rooms, which they checked methodically. It was a short corridor consisting of five doors, four set into the walls, facing each other and a fifth at the very end. Bones and skulls were moulded into the walls, a deathly peace to those whose ends were assuredly not gentle.
The first door to the right was an armoury, neatly stored weapons and ammunition. Its twin to the left led to a control centre, where cogitators eagerly returned to function. They displayed power outputs, logs of those who had come before and the maintenance done, systems support and various data controls relating to temperature. The most recent activity was a scant two solar days before they had arrived.
The next two doors lead to the true reliquary. Symbols of ages long since passed, to a former Legion’s glory, one they were unlikely to ever recover. These were catalogued, removed from their cabinets and placed into cargo storage crates hauled from the armoury.
This left the final door. Here too was the Eighth Legion heraldry, the bat-winged skull. It shone brightly under the lumens, refined silver metal against the dull grey of the rest of the door.
AVE DOMINUS NOX
The letters were carved there by a master's hand, repeated again beneath in what could only have been Nostraman runes. This door opened willingly too, as if eager for the astartes to continue, to find what lay inside.
Cold vapour rolled across the floor, dim blue light pouring forth, drowning all need for lumens. It did not come from lumens, but from a coffin. Or at least what appeared to be a coffin, upon closer inspection it was a cryogenic sleeper pod, held inside of a stasis field. The walls hummed with power, and a few screens displayed vital readouts. At the base of the coffin melted candles pooled, scraps of parchment folded and tucked away, a few clean skulls placed like offerings to a heretic’s god, flowers only just beginning to wilt.
In the casket was a bulky outline, recognisable to anyone familiar with the Adeptus Astartes. Hands laid crossed over their chest, almost covering the bat-winged skull there. The figure was unhelmeted, though the death-faced thing had been placed above their head like a guardian. The face of the space marine was clear, even with the frost encrusted glass.
A face changed by augment and scar, with three prominently stretching across. A hooked nose and a thin face, brown skin of an unnatural pallor- as if unused to the sun. The head was slightly tilted to the left, the mouth just barely open, dark eyes barely open- the black eyes beneath making them appear closed. As if there had been someone standing there that the marine had turned to look at before being sealed away.
A cogitator on the wall beeped quietly, as if apologetic for disturbing them. At a nod, an Astartes stepped forward. A new pilgrimage log had been created, and access provided to a single file, named Kulikov.
It contained only a few things of note. A readout of the current vitals of the casket’s occupant, which seemed to be in order. A list of Night Lords who had attended the reliquary and the prizes they had brought. A single vox recording.
At another nod, the Astartes commanded the machine spirit to play it.
The voice echoed around the chamber. Dark, cracked and hoarse. The voice of a monster in the night, yet still somewhat regal. Heavily accented with sibilance, captivating in its ghoulishness.
“If you are standing here, you stand before the last true child of Nostramo. The last loyal Night Lord, the best of us all. Cary Kulikov. If you are a member of my Legion, one of my poisonous sons, know that this is what you were intended to be, know that you never will be. If you are not, and you have somehow stumbled upon this place: I command you to leave. This is the will of the Night Haunter.”
The recorded voice few had heard in a myriad seemed to hang in the air, sticking to the skin. Curze had always had a flair for the dramatic, like many of his brothers.
The intruders took no heed of this warning, instead moving in synchronicity to the sides of the casket, to the machinery keeping the stasis field in place. There was a crackle in the air as with a few taps against the cogitator, the stasis field fell. The vapour moved a little faster, but the figure within the cryogenic casket remained unchanged.
A few more commands and the casket was removed from its moorings, those pipes which fed into the chamber that had frozen in place wrenched away by gauntleted hands. Handles were mag-locked to the side of the casket, as the claw hidden behind it lowered from a vertical position to a horizontal one. Four Astartes took up places at the handles, lifted the casket from the fittings it had sat in for nearly ten thousand years. They marched from the chamber, almost a mockery of a funeral procession. The figure was after all, not dead. Great pains had been taken to keep them alive, more care than any thought still could be had in these times.
They filed out from the chamber and the reliquaries, heretic artefacts in crates carried between the rest. The casket was loaded onto the Stormraven, awkwardly laid down between the seats, only just enough room for it. Closer now, they could see the shadows haunting the cheeks and eyes, a triangle-shaped split in the shell of the left ear. The face was tired, the crease between the eyebrows betraying some great grief. It was not the face of one who would now call themselves Night Lord.
The Stormraven flew to the waiting battle barge, those who had waited around the asteroid following closely, like a protective flock. Then the ships departed, leaving the asteroid unmarked, once again floating- now completely empty, in the soundless void.
Chapter 1: Awoken
They opened their eyes, only partially. Frost and light made it difficult- that was their first real clue that they were no longer on the Nightfall. No one would have had the lumens this bright. They squeezed their eyes shut against it, a child refusing to wake. Their breath came in ragged, quick gasps. The ache of surgery was still fresh, soft twinges of pain that they recognised but never felt before to this degree.
“K- Khh-,” their mouth did not want to move, their teeth chattered against the cold. “Ko- Konnacht.”
There was no response to their plea. Shadows moved across their face, and they forced their eyes open, ready to receive whatever horror awaited. It was a face, that much they had expected. A face of a space marine, broad and noble, fair skinned but crossed with battle scars, a pair of metal studs embedded above the eyebrow.
The eyes were, of course, the final nail in the proverbial coffin. They were green, with an inner ring of grey. Of course it didn’t matter what colour the eyes were- they weren’t black. The man above them studied them as if they were little more than bacteria on a plex dish.
Noble blue armour, a bright gold trim, a blazing white Ultima. His narthecium was clicking over them, tapping at armoured plates, testing their pulse. He was also waving a diagnostor over them.
“Ultramarine,” they managed. “You- you must tell… the Lords. Curze- Curze has… gone mad.”
The Ultramarine looked at them dispassionately.
“You have been heavily injured, Captain, please do not move or attempt to speak.”
Captain. Had that been their rank? They’d never truly been sure if they’d had an official rank.
“Nostramo,” they tried again. “Nostramo is gone.”
The Ultramarine nodded.
“We are aware. Rest.”
But their body would not rest. There were tremors, half from the cold and half from their body reacting to the damage taken.
“Where is he?” They asked.
The Ultramarine did not answer.
“What of Sevatar? Shang?”
He still did not answer. Further noise came, the whining of servos inside power armour. More marines.
“We are going to lift you from the casket, Captain Kulikov,” another voice said. “Please do not move.”
Handles were maglocked to their armour, they stayed as still as they could, but a soft groan of pain still escaped their mouth as they were moved. The ache became a tear, a body still happily reminding them of the damage inflicted.
They were manoeuvred to a cot, where chapter serfs came forward. The serfs knew the layout of the armour, knew where the catches lay and where to find the bolts that held it together. They lay limply, only moving to ease the job of the serfs. The weight of the armour was practically unmovable for them in their current state- the power pack didn’t help.
“What is this?” A marine intoned.
They were just about able to tilt their head, to look back at the casket and what the Ultramarine held. Deep blue fabric, it looked small in his hand.
“My jacket,” said Cary. “Could I have it?”
Some wordless exchange happened between the Astartes in the room. But the jacket was brought to them.
“It was folded behind your head,” said the marine who had found it.
“It’s my QPC jacket,” they mumbled, half to themselves, smoothing a thumb over the silver-threaded patch at the shoulder. “Half a relic now.”
More of the plates were removed, from the inside the damage was more obvious. The repairs had been done well, but still visible. Curze had caved in most of their diaphragm after all.
“I need to inspect your injuries,” the apothecary said.
Cary leaned forward, grinding their teeth against the pain. Gauntleted hands held their shoulders, supported them as the apothecary released the catch at the back of the neck. The glove only needed to be taken down to their waist, and they were laid back down again.
It was the first time Cary had seen the wound. Medical skin had been pulled across the gap, the hole had been too large to simply suture closed. The scarring was still red, still raw, slightly pink at the edges. There were still flakes of dried blood, smeared across their skin. It was the newest scar, but far from the first.
“What weapon caused this?” Another Ultramarine asked, his helmet angled downward.
“Mercy,” Cary answered.
The helmet looked at them, and though his face was hidden Cary could feel his confusion, muted though it may have been.
“One of Curze’s lightning claws. Mercy and Forgiveness,” they nearly laughed.
The spasm of near laughter made their body seize and jolt, they lay still. The Ultramarines lacked a sense of humour, instead one steadied their shoulder while the apothecary placed a needle to their arm.
“A painkiller. Your carapace has been repaired but not healed fully,” he said.
Cary nodded, not really taking in the information.
“How long have I been asleep?” They asked.
There was no response from those in the room. With their eyes adjusted to the light they could make out a handful of armoured Astartes, four including the apothecary, and a small team of serfs.
The painkillers crept across their body, elevating much of the pain but rendering them even more sluggish in their thoughts and movements.
“How long?” They asked again.
“A long time,” the apothecary said.
Cary looked at him, blinking slowly against the numbing effects of the drug.
“Tell me,” they pleaded.
“Nearly ten thousand years,” the Ultramarine who had given them their jacket said.
The apothecary glared at his fellow, then checked what Cary could only assume was a readout of their vitals.
“Ten thousand years?” Cary repeated, slowly.
They looked straight up at the ceiling, not truly seeing it, digesting this information.
“Where is Curze?” They asked.
“Dead,” said the Ultramarine.
“Elaius,” cautioned the apothecary.
Cary nodded, slowly. It was an odd feeling, circling its way across their chest. Grief had always been their constant companion, more constant than even the Night Haunter had been. Now the grief was compounded further- when they closed their eyes they still saw Nostramo burn.
“Why did he let you live?” The Ultramarine- Elaius asked.
“I don’t know,” Cary admitted. “He always said he’d kill me. That he’d seen it. Always followed the damn visions. Followed them right to the end.”
Their breathing was becoming more laboured, their chest tight with exhaustion and mourning. Cary closed their eyes, only praying that the action would stop them from weeping openly.
“You need rest,” rumbled the voice of the apothecary.
Another needle pierced their skin, and again they fell into a drugged sleep.

The dream was formless, not a true thing. An unconscious space that had broken down. Someone was calling their name. They turned. Darkness seeped across the not-floor, it was below them, a roiling ocean, a black sea. There, down below them, a speck of white. They already knew who it was, they reached out their hands, but never seemed to be able to get any closer. They felt hands on their shoulders, strong, large hands.
They tried to shrug them off, gritting their teeth and reaching again, gauntleted arm outstretched. Cary looked at their arms. Looked at their gauntlet. The chain.
Cary Kulikov, as they had done many times before, took aim upon their primarch and fired. The silver chain sprung forward, the four-pronged hook expanding out. It caught. The chain grew taunt. The servos on their arm whined as the motors pulled the chain back.
He came up from the dark sea like a bat, reaching for them as they reached for him. There was a second where they saw his face, pale and gaunt, then the Primarch crashed into them like a solid wall.
All again was dark.

When they opened their eyes again, they had to take a second to think. It was not the same ceiling Cary had been helped to slumber under, where bright lumens had danced painfully before their eyes. In fact, the room was rather dim. There was a blanket laid over them, and what seemed to be a bed beneath them.
Sleeping quarters, they thought, idly. Indeed, tilting their head they could see that their armour had been mounted magnetically to a storage rack. The rest of the room was small, spartan in its furnishings, though shelving space clearly existed for the occupant to make it their own. An Astartes-sized desk and chair, an ablutions chamber and of course a lone figure sitting politely on a stool. A young girl, probably belonging to the servant caste of the ship- probably about thirteen or fourteen years old. She had short blonde-white hair cut roughly above the shoulders, sky-blue eyes and a pale, voidborn complexion.
She peered at Cary, the hands on her knees just about peaking out from her sleeves.
“You don’t look very frightening,” the girl said, sliding off of the stool. “I don’t see what all the fuss is about.”
“I try my best,” Cary replied.
The girl looked at the door, suddenly still. Like an animal in a trap. Cary could hear the sound of plated boots coming down the corridor.
“You’re not meant to be in here, are you?” They observed.
The girl scowled at them, worrying her lip with her teeth. Cary nodded towards the ablution chamber.
“Go hide in there. Sit down and don’t move. I won’t breathe a word,” they mimed drawing a cross over both sides of their chest with a finger. Cross their hearts and hope to die.
The girl scrambled into the chamber, clicking the door shut. Cary looked to the door. When it opened, only two people entered. One Ultramarine, and a young man- human. He was dressed in Imperial black, with an impressive amount of golden trim and fine decorations. His skin was dark, and his hair close-cropped to his head. Cary looked to his breast pocket, where an inquisitorial rosette sat plainly.
“Good morning, Captain Kulikov,” said the young inquisitor. “I am Inquisitor Gael Casteter, I would like to ask you some things.”
Cary had never had a particular love for the inquisition. Torture a man enough he’d admit to anything, it was no way to reveal any kind of truth.
“Can I ask some questions first?” Cary sat up, slowly.
The Ultramarine watched them carefully, but did not reach for his weapons. He seemed taller than most other marines. Gael took the stool, recently abandoned by the girl.
“You may.”
“What has… happened?” They asked. “It’s been ten thousand years. Who still lives? Does anyone? The Primarchs, the Emperor?”
Gael looked at them with something approaching sympathy.
“The God-Emperor lives, resting upon the Golden Throne of Terra. Lord Guilliman, returned to us from his stasis, serves as his Lord Regent.”
It took them longer than was comfortable to process this.
“The Warmaster?” They asked.
“The Arch-Traitor Horus,” Gael corrected them, gently. “He fell to the ruinous powers, and with the traitor legions brought upon the Imperium a bloody war. Many were lost to us.”
A thousand names came to their lips. Cary dared not speak them, as if silence would keep them alive.
“Traitor legions?” They settled on.
“The Sons of Horus, the Emperor’s Children, the Iron Warriors, the Night Lords,” he paused to incline his head in the direction of their armour. “The World Eaters, The Death Guard, The Thousand Sons, the Word Bearers and the Alpha Legion. They joined Horus on his crusade, and paid the ultimate price.”
Cary’s head span, blinking rapidly against the information. They didn’t want to believe it- they didn’t want it to be true, no matter how much it had to have been true. They had seen parts of it in visions, with their own eyes.
“The Sons of Horus,” they echoed.
“You would have known them as the Luna Wolves,” the Ultramarine said.
Cary recognised the voice through the vox speaker. It was Elaius, the one whom the apothecary had chided. They rested their head against the metal wall behind them, closed their eyes.
“I am sorry,” said the Inquisitor. “I understand this must be a shock.”
“I have lost everyone I have ever known in the span of what feels like a day. Perhaps two at a stretch,” they said, without thinking. “I am a little more than shocked.”
Cary opened their eyes again, looking at Gael.
“What did you want to ask me?”
He withdrew a device from his pocket, balancing it on his knee. They recognised it as a vox recorder, the green light meaning it had been listening to their conversation, likely from the moment Gael and Elaius stepped through the door.
“I would like to hear your account, from the very beginning,” said Gael. “I am aware you knew Konrad Curze from a young age, I want to hear about your life.”
Cary tilted their head.
“Why?”
“I am nothing if not a scholar, Captain Kulikov. It will also help me to keep you alive longer, many here already think you a heretic if only for the armour you wear and the geneseed you bare.” He smiled, kindly.
“Everything then? From the very beginning?” They clarified.
“If you would be so kind.”
“Very well.”

Young Justice x GN! (Psychic/Meta) Reader
AN: HIII I finished my first final today so I was super excited to get back to work.. This chapter is kinda long soo let me know if you like the longer chapters or would rather I break it up to 2k words each part. The bioship glides through the upper atmosphere, clouds peeling away like pages as the team gathers inside the softly glowing interior.
A holographic map of Blüdhaven hovers between them, projected by Robin’s gauntlet. The city is dim, lights sparse along the industrial outskirts — and one zone flickers with digital static.
Aqualad steps forward, voice calm and commanding.
“A LexCorp storage facility on the outskirts of Blüdhaven has gone dark,” he says, motioning to the red zone. “Locals report hallucinations. Objects appearing where they shouldn’t. Time glitches. Memory spikes.”
“Memory spikes?” Artemis raises an eyebrow.
Miss Martian frowns. “Could be another psychic distortion. Like the rift.”
[Y/N] softly replies, “A memory spike is like a scar ripping open. You don’t just see what was — you feel it, live it. Sometimes it’s one person’s past. Sometimes... it’s everyone’s all at once.”
Robin taps on the map, cycling through surveillance images — some grainy, others outright impossible. A hallway that loops in on itself. An elevator door on the ceiling. A vending machine full of melted clocks.
“No comms. No power. The League suspects this isn’t just tech failure — it may be reality degradation.”
You stiffen slightly.
They’re looking at you now.
Aqualad nods once. “This mission will be more recon than assault. We don’t know what we’re dealing with. Our first goal is containment. Second is evacuation. Third — recovery of any affected personnel or tech.”
Robin points to each teammate in turn.
“Miss Martian, you’re our psychic buffer. You’ll help us keep our heads straight inside. Kid Flash and Artemis: outer perimeter sweep. Secure an exit route in case things turn.”
“Superboy and I will breach the facility’s west access point,” Aqualad adds. “We’ll search for the command center.”
Finally, his gaze lands on you.
“[Y/N], you’ll remain central. You’re our anchor. Track memory distortion. If things twist — time, identity, space — we’ll rely on you to recognize the breach.”
Robin leans back in his seat, arms crossed. “And if you are the breach?”
“Then,” you say quietly, “you’ll know where to find me.”
A beat of silence. Not tense — just... loaded.
Superboy looks over at you, his eyes steady. “You won’t lose control.”
You nod once.
You hope he’s right.
The bioship begins to descend, Blüdhaven’s skyline approaching fast in the dark.
Aqualad raises his voice, just slightly. “Gear check. Five minutes to drop. Stay sharp. We don’t know if this facility is bending reality… or breaking it.”
The team slips through the broken service entrance of the LexCorp facility. The interior is eerily quiet — industrial corridors lit by flickering lights, the air charged with static and something colder. Older.
Robin checks his scanner. “No security feed. No staff. Just interference.”
Miss Martian floats a few inches off the floor, eyes glowing faintly. “I feel… echoes. Strong ones.”
You step forward cautiously. The walls seem to breathe faintly — expanding, contracting. The hum of reality distorts like a warped cassette.
Superboy narrows his eyes. “I don’t like this.”
Then, it hits.
A memory spike.
It’s not visual at first — it’s emotional. A sudden wave of crushing dread — like loss, like screaming in your own throat with no sound. Then the environment glitches. A cold hallway flickers and becomes… a warm kitchen? For half a second. Then a cemetery. Then a school hallway with lockers that melt into filing cabinets.
Robin stumbles back. Artemis gasps, hand to her head. Miss Martian doubles over midair.
“Something’s overriding our senses!” she cries.
Aqualad’s voice cuts through static. “This is it — a spike!”
Then you feel it too. The pressure in your skull. But unlike the others, you don’t collapse. You breathe in.
Because to you, this chaos has structure.
You close your eyes and walk forward, right into the heart of the distortion.
“ follow me,” you say. “Just trust me.”
Your fingers graze the wall — and you feel who it belongs to. A woman. Technician. Late 30s. She ate lunch here every day for two years. Then she lost her job. You anchor her memory, thread it through your fingertips.
The hallway stabilizes for a second. Just long enough for Robin to reorient.
“[Y/N], what did you do?”
You exhale slowly. “I found the strongest memory left behind — rooted us in it. These spikes? They’re like whirlpools. You drown unless you grab something real.”
The world ripples again. Another wave hits.
This time, Superboy is suddenly eight years old — in a Cadmus pod. He falls to his knees.
You reach him, palm to his shoulder. “That’s not now. That’s then.”
And with effort, you overwrite the hallucination — a memory mist of warm sunlight and gravel, a Mount Justice training day. He remembers. The pod fades.
His breathing steadies.
Miss Martian floats beside you, eyes wide. “You’re not resisting the memory field. You’re using it.”
You nod. “This place is breaking. I can stitch it. But we need to find the source — or get out before it collapses.”
Robin’s voice comes in through the comm. “Storage core. West wing. It’s pulsing like a beacon.”
You turn to the team.
“We need to move,” you say, voice firm.

Your team nods. They fall in behind you.
The hallway stretches ahead — flickering overhead lights, rusted pipes groaning softly like something exhaling. You start walking. Every footstep echoes longer than it should.
Miss Martian whispers, “I feel like we’re being… watched.”
Robin tilts his gauntlet. “Power readings are off the chars. See this spike?” He shows you a blip on his scanner. “It’s repeating every twenty-three seconds. Like it’s stuck.”
“Glitching?” Artemis asks.
You keep walking. The static in the air thickens. There’s a faint click-hiss-click rhythm now, like machinery breathing.
Then, without warning—
You round a corner—
—and you’re back at the service entrance.
The broken LexCorp door groans open.
Robin’s already scanning.
Aqualad says, “Let’s go—”
You blink.
Wait. Didn’t you already—
No.
You shake it off. Must’ve misstepped, turned around, or doubled back somehow. The facility layout’s twisting. You’re probably hallucinating. Right?
You walk again. Same hallway. Miss Martian floats slightly ahead this time.
“I feel like we’re being… watched,” she whispers.
Your skin prickles.
Robin tilts his gauntlet. “Power readings are off the charts—see this spike? Repeating every twenty-three seconds…”
The words hit you harder this time.
No.
You spin toward him. “You said that already.”
He blinks. “I’m showing you now.”
Artemis raises an eyebrow. “You okay?”
You stare down the hall again. Same shadows. Same hiss-click. The same pipe dripping every four seconds.
“I—I think I heard that before.”
“You probably did,” Superboy mutters. “Echoes everywhere.”
But it’s not just that. It’s everything.
The cadence of Aqualad’s next words. The look Miss Martian gives you. Robin tucking his scanner back exactly the same way.
The team slowly starts advancing forward.
Suddenly, you’re back at the entrance. The broken service door slams open again like it never happened. Robin’s scanning again. Artemis is tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Miss Martian floats inches off the ground.
You whirl to face them. “We’ve done this.”
Robin looks up. “Uh… what?”
Superboy frowns. “No we didn’t.”
You step backward, your chest tightening. “Yes , we did.”
The hallway breathes again. Then flickers.
You're at the service entrance. Again. And again. The door slams open. Robin scans. Aqualad speaks. Again.
Every time, you remember.
Loop Four.
You try to write something. It vanishes.
Loop Seven.
You slam your hand against the wall. Feel the memory of it. You mark it with a burn. When the loop resets—it’s gone.
Nothing carries over. Except you.
Loop Twelve:
The lights flicker, and suddenly, you’re standing alone in the bioship. The team is gone, erased from the world, and in their place is a single photo on the dashboard: you—alone—staring back from a past you can’t remember.

Loop Eighteen:
You're back with the team?
Aqualad turns to you with a reassuring smile, but the moment his eyes meet yours, they are empty. No soul behind them, just hollow voids. His lips move, but the words are wrong. They aren’t his.
Loop Twenty-four-ish?:
The hallway stretches endlessly before you. You dash ahead without the team relentlessly, you turn a corner, but the door that should be there is gone, replaced with a mirrored reflection of yourself—standing perfectly still, smiling back at you. A beat later, the reflection blinks.
Loop Thirty?:
You’re back at the storage core, but this time, something flickers in the corner of your eye, a monster..?, no must be my eyes. It’s a fragment of someone you know. Superboy, his face frozen in a scream. You reach for him, but your hand passes right through.
Loop ???:
You feel the edge unraveling in your mind. Like a film reel melting mid-frame. Nothing holds.
But something deep inside you whispers:
Remember.
You close your eyes.
The world falls away—and you reach.
Loop 1:

“Remember,” you whisper, the word grounding you, pulling you back to the present. The ripples in the air tremble, but you hold fast. You won’t let it slip away. Not again.
The air shimmers in front of you, a ripple that feels like reality itself is bending under your fingers. It should be impossible, this feeling, this fragile thread you cling to. But the world doesn’t have to make sense. Not when you’re the one weaving it back together.
You exhale slowly, focusing. You won’t let it slip away again. Not this time.
Your hand brushes against the memory that holds them all together.
Artemis — laughing with powdered sugar on her nose at Mount Justice’s kitchen table, flicking a donut crumb at Wally. “Bet you can’t catch that before it hits the ground, speedster.”
Wally — catching it, obviously. “Pshh, please. I was born catching things in slow-mo.” Then tripping over his own feet a second later and pretending it was part of the plan.
Robin — blasting music too loud, shouting random trivia during training drills. “You can’t spell ‘team’ without me!” Grinning, masked, thirteen years old and fearless.
Miss Martian — hovering above the lake, lifting water into shimmering spirals, inviting everyone to try. “It’s all just rhythm. You have to feel it.”
Aqualad — kneeling beside Conner in battle, steadying him after a psychic attack. “Your strength is not only your fists. It is your focus.”
Superboy — standing at the edge of the cliff behind the cave, quiet, uncertain. The reader beside him. He asks, “Do you think we’re more than what they made us?”
You pull each memory closer—thread by thread.
They shimmer in your mind’s eye like silk strands, glowing faintly.
You reach out and begin to weave.
Each thread crosses another.
It’s messy. Imperfect.
But it’s real.
You open your eyes—and the loop collapses like a deck of cards. Not destroyed—reformed.
Time snaps back into place with a breath like thunder.
You’re all standing in the core now—together.
The glitching has stopped. Reality no longer shudders beneath your feet.
Robin is holding his head. “Okay... that was definitely not normal.”
Artemis leans against the wall. “Did I just live through the same twenty minutes five times or am I losing my mind?”
Miss Martian’s eyes are still glowing faintly. “No… you’re not imagining it. We looped. I think… I think [Y/N] pulled us out.”
They all turn to you.
You’re shaking, just a little. Weaving leaves traces.
“I linked you,” you say quietly. “All of you. A memory you shared — something real enough to override the distortion.”
Aqualad frowns. “You anchored us.”
You nod. “Memories don’t just fade. They fray. And if you weave them back together—something stronger forms.”
Superboy steps closer. “That moment… the lake… that wasn’t just a memory, was it?”
You smile, soft and tired. “It was the truth. And truths hold.”
There’s a long beat of silence.
Then Wally breaks it.
“Okay, so... not to kill the vibe or anything, but did I just watch Artemis throw the same donut crumb at me five times? Or was that, like, a metaphor?”
Artemis rolls her eyes. “You missed it three out of five, genius.”
“Excuse you, I caught it in every timeline. One of them just didn’t count because Robin sneezed.”
Robin mutters, “Oh my god, I did sneeze.”
Miss Martian giggles under her breath. “This was… really weird.”
Wally grins, still breathless. “Weird? This was existential Inception-but-make-it-sci-fi-horror levels of weird. I swear I saw my third grade math teacher in a vending machine.”
You let out a shaky laugh. “Yeah. That tracks.”
Robin breathes out, more serious now. “You brought us back.”
Wally gives you a soft look beneath the humor. “Yeah. You did. Thanks for… pulling us out of whatever that was. Seriously.”
You smile.
“All I did was remember how.”

A sudden crack breaks the silence—the walls shift. The space distorts, twisting into something unfamiliar, like it’s being remembered wrong.
Then, from the center of the room, a low, grinding growl vibrates the floor.
A twisted form emerges from the distortion.
It’s an abomination of memory—a mass of shifting shadows and broken light, its jagged wings scraping against the air as it unfurls them. Its scales glint like shards of shattered glass, reflecting fragmented flashes of light that dance across its form. Its eyes are endless pits—burning, unstable—glowing like the hollow of forgotten things. The wyvern's body is stretched, deformed, wings too large, claws too sharp.
It lunges forward with a shriek that is somehow both human and inhuman at the same time.
You stumble back, feeling the sudden weight of it. The energy in the room feels wrong—thick with the taste of broken time.
“Is that...?” Superboy growls, eyes narrowing. “Is that even real?”
Your voice is sharp, calculated. “No. It’s not. It’s a sentient construct. A creature formed from a rift in memory. It’s a broken fragment—an echo that’s trying to exist.”
Aqualad is already on alert, hands raised, water swirling around him like a shield. “This isn’t just an anomaly. This is alive.”
The wyvern screeches again, and a blast of jagged energy explodes from its open maw, nearly hitting you. You dive to the side, your heart racing. The ground trembles beneath you. The creature thrashes, its claws raking the floor like knives through fabric.
It’s not just a mindless beast. It’s a thing that remembers itself.
Artemis draws her bow in one smooth motion, firing an arrow that explodes against its chest—but the wyvern’s body ripples, like liquid metal, absorbing the impact. It turns its head toward her with that hollow, endless gaze, and for a moment, it’s almost like it’s searching for something.
It shrieks again, lunging straight for Artemis, but Wally zooms in, grabbing her in the nick of time and pulling her out of harm’s way.
“Whew—close one!” he yells, but his voice is strained, edges fraying from the power of the creature’s presence.
You know this thing isn’t just fighting—it’s reacting to something. Something deep inside it that calls to you.
You move toward the creature, hand outstretched, trying to gather the threads. Your fingers brush the flickering light of its form. The wyvern pauses. Its eyes flash brighter.
“Why… do you fight?” it rasps. “I am you. You have forgotten me. Why do you remember?”
You flinch, breathless.
It remembers—and it knows. It knows that you hold the keys to this madness.
“No,” you answer, trying to steady yourself as the room twists once again. “I remember nothing like you.”
It snarls, and this time the ground cracks beneath its feet. The wyvern’s body warps as it swipes at you, but you summon the strength to pull its memories into a single thread—one that doesn’t break, one that binds.
The creature lets out a tortured roar, thrashing wildly.
The wyvern roars again, its body now a tangled mess of fractured memories, shifting between forms—glimpses of broken pasts, twisted images from forgotten moments. You can feel its instability, its very existence unraveling as it thrashes violently.
Your heart pounds in your chest. The air crackles with tension, the room warping with every breath. Each step you take toward the wyvern feels heavier, the weight of reality pressing down on you.
Aqualad, Artemis, and the rest of the team are holding their ground, but the wyvern’s distorted form keeps them at bay. They’re fighting something—something that isn’t even fully real.
You can’t let this thing tear apart their minds any longer.
Steeling yourself, you step forward, ignoring the flashes of memory trying to drag you under. You raise your hand, fingers outstretched, feeling for the core of the chaos, the heart of this broken thing. The wyvern sees you coming, its glowing eyes flashing with recognition—or maybe desperation.
You reach for it.
The moment your fingers touch its form, the world around you shifts violently. You close your eyes, gritting your teeth as the flood of memories threatens to overwhelm you. You feel the creature's pain, its confusion, the fractured echoes of its existence—not real but desperate to be. You pull on the strands of its being, weaving the threads together, forcing the memory of its existence to solidify.
With one final push, you drive your hand deep into the heart of its chaos. There’s a sickening crack, and a surge of energy floods the room as the wyvern’s form convulses. The ground shakes beneath your feet, and the walls pulse with an unstable force, but you hold fast.
You twist your hand inside the heart of the beast, severing its connection to the memories. The wyvern’s body buckles, collapsing into itself as its scream echoes in your mind. It thrashes one last time before it’s no longer a thing of substance, just an empty shadow, its essence flickering out of existence.
But as it falls, its gaze locks onto you.
A voice—soft, broken—whispers through the chaos.
“Will you remember me?”
Time slows. The world feels like it’s holding its breath. You stare at the creature, its broken eyes burning with a strange, desperate light.
For a moment, it almost seems human—a lost piece of someone who shouldn’t have been forgotten.
You swallow, your breath shaky. “I... I can’t.”
The wyvern’s body crumbles into dust, fading away like a dream you can’t hold onto.
You stand there, hand still raised, the silence heavy in the air.
Tears sting at the corners of your eyes as your chest tightens, your breath catching painfully in your throat. You open your mouth, but the words won’t come. You know the truth. You can’t carry everything. Not every lost thing, every broken fragment.
But the question still lingers in the air, wrapping around you like a ghost: “Will you remember me?”
You stand frozen, your hand trembling as you wipe away the tear that slips down your cheek.
For a moment, you’re not sure if the tear is for the wyvern, for yourself, or for the countless memories you’ll never be able to save.

You can see the fuel leaking under the YF 12.
The YF-12 was a twin-seat version of the then-secret single-seat Lockheed A-12 reconnaissance aircraft operated by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA); unlike the A-12, it was furnished with the Hughes AN/ASG-18 fire-control radar and could be armed with AIM-47 Falcon (GAR-9) air-to-air missiles The YF 12 was the older sibling of the SR 71.
The fuel was originally called JP-1, but it was modified to JP-7, which was less corrosive in the tanker storage area. They used to have to replace the liners in the KC 135Q. The technology in the SR 71 was so advanced that the world had not caught up to this technology. The fuel was made with ingredients to make it hard to ignite. You needed another ingredient, TEB, to light the fuel up. This was all for safety purposes. The people who flew the SR 71 and worked around. It knew that the fuel was safe around the fire. The mechanics are known to light up cigarettes and put them out in the fuel.🚬
No sealant was available that could go through the extreme temperatures that the SR-71 went through, from extremely cold ( the atmosphere temperature at 80,000 feet ) to extremely hot ( 600°C) at Mach 3+
The seals would break, and leakage would occur. This was not a design flaw.
The talented people who maintain the SR 71 would repair the sealants—tedious work to keep the drips of JP-7 fuel under control.
If anybody laughs at the dripping fuel, remind them of how far ahead the technology was in the SR 71, and that is why there was dripping.

soft intro for a new project!
As it says SOFT intro. all of this stuff is subject to change, I'd LOVE ur opinion on it!
No name for it currently, but it's about a group of criminals arrested for crimes against the government being sent on an Australia type mission in a sci-fi space setting- around 100 of them, with consent, are sent into a 'sleep' (possibly through the freezing thing but yk whatever. It's futuristic who cares, I'll figure it out later) and set to go on a 150-year-long journey to a superhabitable planet that's being considered for a human colony (it has a breathable atmosphere and a relatively young star). Unfortunately, humanity (along with a couple other species from near us in the galaxy) figures out a faster method of space travel about 20 years after the journey starts, and the Australia type mission is forgotten about. 32 years before their mission should have landed on the colony, something goes wrong with the ship and the AI is forced to make an emergency crash landing on a nearby habitable planet. Only nine (<- in the works) people survive the crash, and those are our main characters!
Its found family/sci fi/survival stuff, I'm very fond of most of the characters and the general aesthetic.
The main characters so far are:
Carbon (he/they)
The leader of an anti-government group that led attacks on infrastructure and weapons storage units, etc. He's the oldest at 32 (younger is safer for the 'sleep' process), mostly human, and kind of ends up as a begrudging father/older brother to all the college-aged kids they decided to put on this mission. He's easily the most responsible in the group due to his old job, but he can be cold and impersonal, or too controlling. He has a prosthetic leg (from just above the knee) and hand, both amputated from diabetes. He doesn't sleep with them on, but he uses them for more intricate things and to maim people with if necessary.
Altar (he/she)
Half human, half squid guy, brightly colored pilot. She murdered a handful of corrupt government officials with help. He has tendrils in place of hair, which are a little thicker than your average air strand, have nerves, and have a bit of motion (not prehensile, but they get tense and sort of hover a little when he's stressed). Adhd as hell, high energy and fun. She doesn't really take much seriously, which can be annoying to work with. Second youngest at 17. They use forearm crutches.
Palace/Lace (any)

Human engineer/mechanic who, on earth, would go on tours of government buildings and inspect them for a few days before figuring out how they worked and sending the blueprints to groups which would destroy them. They don't talk much, preferring to think thoroughly, but they often forget that they're supposed to talk after thinking and just start doing things without saying what they're doing. They're autistic and 19, and chronically covered in oil stains.
Lazuli/Laz (she/her)
Half plant person, half human. Mostly made up of different microplants. Photosynthesizes. Diplomat (officially) and hacker (why she got arrested). She can't speak (no vocal cords or mouth, she just needs sun and water) but she can process vibrations into speech. She uses sign language and teaches it to those in the group who don't know so they can communicate with Hermes. Calm, rational, and likes being in control of all situations. She's the youngest in the group at 16 and finds it very hard to admit that she's not ready to take on both surviving on an unknown planet and acting like an adult.
Hermes (he/him)
Transmasc deaf space pirate. Due to some bullshit ableism in the system and a lot of miscommunication and purposeful lack of accurate translation for him, he was put on the mission without consent and is dealing with a lot of grief for the beginning of the story, which affects a lot of people's veiw of him. He's quiet and warm, and prefers to sit in silence without talking and just experience others being around him than engage in conversation. 18.
Halcyon/Halcey (he/him)
Biologist and bioengineer, very excited about plants. He specializes in xenobiology (understanding how newly discovered plants that aren't from earth or other well known and populated plants work) and genetic engineering of plants. He made bioweapons (which is decently clear by now I hope). He's sort of silly, like if a Pokémon professor was 24 and mostly an alien. He's very sweet and just. So hyper about plants and biology.
Civet (she/they)
Half human, half 'ferox' (basically a fossa or civet type humanoid) with more ferox traits. Long term government plant and spy. Hot headed, fun and protective of the younger kids (she's 21). She's fully prepared to become a problem at any provocation and is probably one of the people who starts the most fights in the group. She's very sweet to the kids, though. She's basically their older sister.
Bardiche/Bard (they/any)
Mostly synthetic/mecha person (human base), they've got RAD legs (like if T Rex legs were muscley and agile and also have big cool talon feet) and a prehensile tail with a polearm tip (due to weird nerve stuff with synthetic parts, they can't feel it and need to grab it in their hand to stab people). She also has big forearms with armor plates and some spikes (same with their legs) and claws, plus cool horns. They're very sweet and gentle and really insecure (not abt the synthetic parts he KNOWS he's rad) and they're a former mercenary/assassin (that's why they got the murder mods). They're great and I love them. They're like 7 feet tall or something, their jump height is insane.

Docile nature. Somewhat vain. No food preferences.
Held item: Metal Coat
Preferred moves: Metal Burst - The user retaliates with much greater force against the opponent that last inflicted damage on it. Protect - This move enables the user to protect itself from all attacks. Its chance of failing rises if it is used in succession. Silver Wind - The target is attacked with powdery scales blown by the wind. This may also raise all the user's stats. Psychic - The target is hit by a strong telekinetic force. This may also lower the target's Sp. Def stat.
Dawn met Moira during Team Galactic’s invasion of Floaroma Town, as their actions ended up disturbing the local Pokémon in the surrounding areas. As a Burmy, she was very shy and wary around humans, but over time she started to realize that not all of them are dangerous and started to open up. Dawn took a liking to her in particular since her ability to create cloaks out of nearby materials reminds the trainer of sewing and making unique clothes from scratch, something she really enjoys, so the two of them ended up turning into a duo of fashionistas the likes of which the world has never seen.
After evolving, she settled on a cloak made out of metallic materials, so she’s quite adept at using its magnetic properties and reflectiveness in combat to move around, destabilize her enemies and even attack with blasts of concentrated light. She also has telekinetic abilities that she uses to control the battlefield however she sees fit, lifting nearby objects with her mind to use as shields or weapons, which seems to be a natural extension of her ability to hold her cloak together as part of her body. Also, for obvious reasons, if you punch her directly it’s gonna hurt a lot and she won’t really feel anything.
Her name’s another mythological reference, as the Moirae are divine beings that measure destiny on a string. Most of the time, though, people just assume that Dawn’s referencing a sitcom.
#471 - Glaceon ♂ Name: Minty Type: Ice Ability: Snow Cloak
Original Trainer: Bebe Met on Hearthome City at level 20.
Jolly nature. Sturdy body. Likes sweet food. Dislikes dry food.

Preferred moves: Frost Breath - The user attacks by blowing its cold breath on the target. This move always lands a critical hit. Chilling Water - The user attacks the target by showering it with water that's so cold it saps the target's power. This also lowers the target's Attack stat. Mirror Coat - A retaliatory attack that counters any special move, inflicting double the damage taken. Swift - Star-shaped rays are shot at the target. This attack never misses.
Dawn met Minty for the first time in Hearthome under the care of Bebe, the owner of the Pokémon storage system in the region, and he was given to her as thanks for helping out as a tester for new features. Minty evolved during the journey to Snowpoint, adapting to the icy environment as a way to protect his trainer. He’s very cheerful and sociable, often going out of his way to interact with other Pokémon and dragging his trainer into unusual situations, but after evolving he’s actually a little more sensitive than before to sudden changes in temperature, so when the weather’s hot he doesn’t feel like doing anything.
He hasn’t been an Ice-type for very long, so he’s still getting the hang of his new abilities and usually relies on the ones he already had as an Eevee, using his speed to confuse opponents and attack when they let their guard down. When using his actual Ice-type moves, though, one of his favorite tactics is to create mist to camouflage himself, and he can similarly generate cold air in order to use water particles in the atmosphere as an offensive tool. Like any Glaceon, he can turn his fur into needles in battle, so Dawn has to spend a lot of money on shampoo to keep him looking nice and classy.
Since Dawn was feeling indecisive about what name she should give him, she ended up asking Lucas for advice. His decision may or may not be related to the fact that Dawn happened to be holding a mint ice cream cone at the time.
#226 - Mantine ♀ Name: Scylla Type: Water/Flying Ability: Water Absorb
Original Trainer: Dawn Met on Route 223 at level 35.
Impish nature. Often lost in thought. Likes sour food. Dislikes dry food.
Held item: Safety Goggles
Preferred moves: Surf - The user attacks everything around it by swamping its surroundings with a giant wave. This can also be used for crossing water. Hurricane - The user attacks by wrapping its opponent in a fierce wind. This may also confuse the target. Psybeam - The target is attacked with a peculiar ray. This may also confuse the target. Tailwind - The user whips up a turbulent whirlwind that boosts the Speed stats of itself and its allies for four turns.
Scylla was caught near the end of Dawn’s journey in Sinnoh while she explored the ocean around Sunyshore City. She’s a very relaxed Pokémon that’s curious about humans and likes to meet new people, but at the same time she has a thinly-veiled naughty streak, often bugging others into giving her things that she wants- usually snacks, because she’s kind of a glutton. According to Dawn, she’s kind of a show-off and likes to do tricks to entertain others, so she gets along very well with Barry because of their similar bold personalities. Usually seen wearing personalized goggles to enhance her adventurer aesthetic.
She has a hard time battling on land and tends to stay out of combat for this reason, but in large bodies of water where she can move freely she’s actually an incredibly agile Pokémon and as such she often assists Dawn during long voyages in the ocean as they explore the world and its many secrets. She can summon strong air currents by flapping her fins as if they’re wings, which is not only useful in battle but extremely practical while traveling to ensure good weather conditions, and while she can use that same ability to effectively fly for brief amounts of time, it tires her out pretty quickly, so she’d rather stay in the water if she has the option.
Her name comes from a mythological sea monster. It doesn’t actually have a lot to do with Scylla herself as a Pokémon, but it’s a pretty name and that’s all that matters.
