🌿 Winx Club AU: Demeter, Fairy of Greenery 🌿

Second-to-last up for the fairies, we have Queen Demeter~! Another fairy since the second version of the AU. Like stated in Noelani's, I wanted to design a higher-level fairy form for her that was a little more extravagant and fitting for the fact that she is royalty(which basically includes longer dresses, crowns, jewelry, and extra details to give them a fancy vibe). I'm not sure what this exact fairy form would be or what it would be called, but design-wise I mixed in elements of Enchantix and the Major Fairies' designs. I hope you enjoy!

Some extra notes about her fairy form:

Her dress would have a little more of a brighter green to it, and more flowers on the green fabric too. Under the puff sleeves would be more fitting, sheer sleeves the same cream color as the front of the dress, covering the hands and having subtle gold, flora detailing on them. Her shoes would be more of an olive green color, a similar color to the choker, with the flowers shaped similarly to it as well. The bronze of her crown would be a light gold instead, with the crown still having the leafy motif but with a couple of flowers in it too.

Her wings would be a bit bigger than the reference, being more leaf-shaped, starting a darker green before fading into the yellow-green, and would have light orange gems hanging off the tips. Her hair would be placed in a more elegant updo than her usual messy buns, but a couple of strands would still hang down. Her makeup would consist of gradient green eyeshadow with subtle leaf designs under her eyes, light coral blush, a more pinky-coral lipstick, and nude/clear nails with orange flowers and green leaves.

What are your OL 1 & 2 OCs 👀

Okay- thank you for asking. I've been dying to ramble a bit about them for awhile.

So- I've only drawn out my OL2 oc once (a second is in the works). But their name is Atlas Emerson. My OL1 OC's name is Zenith Collins.

Zenith Info:

They were born female and used (she/her) in step 1, (all pronouns) in step 2, and then decided on (they/them, masc leaning) in step 3. They came out as genderfluid openly in step 3, but also declared a preference for words like 'sir' instead of 'ma'am'. They're average height and weight most of their life, but started gaining slight muscle definition in step 2 & 3. By the end of step 3, they were toned but not as much as Cove was. (They use a chest binder and sports bras, but they got their uterus removed for medical reasons.)

They've got hazel-green eyes and dirty blonde hair, which over time changed to be more of a brunette color in the future (after which they dyed the front half black, and got a matching nose piercing with Noelani).

Zenith's original name was Astra, something Pamela picked out during the adoption process. Noelani helped them pick out Zenith later on when they didn't feel connected to the name anymore. They've always been ever so slightly closer with Noelani then Pam, which was due to her more relaxed nature while Pam was far more protective which was slightly overwhelming for them.

When Z met Cove the first thing they noticed was how soft his hair looked, as they sat next to him and called him 'space cadet'. Their interest in space was obvious as their denium jacket had embroidered constellations on the back and space themed patches and pins on the front and arms. Eventually when Cliff and their moms were heard in the distance they didn't say anything, just gave him their jacket with a gentle smile before calling out for the adults. If they hadn't of heard Noelani's worry through her voice they wouldn't have said a single thing, knowing what it was like to be overwhelmed by a new situation.

Step 1 was purely childhood friendship, but step 2 they developed a crush on Cove. They damn near slapped the shit outta Jermey for calling Cove's eyebrows weird that one time, and at the party? Ohhh they wanted to make him eat some serious dirt. Their relationship with Derek was slightly strained by his feelings for them, an awkward tension obvious between them.

Oml- the family trip. Snuggling together in the overhead loft, it was their first time being the one to engage in excessive physical contact with Cove. The shockwaves that went through their touch starved form, they don't like being touched often, when he held them close only secured their feelings even more. Finding out about the anklet thing and immediately ordering some to the house for when they got back. Subtly saying that they really liked his hair, how it'd look good long and admitting his scar was another thing they enjoyed about him.

The kiss after Step 2 caused a chain reaction between the two, both flustered messes- too embarrassed to talk to each other alone for about a week.

They got together finally in Step 3 (Cove asked), and Zenith started surfing again (a hobby they dropped so Cove from step 1 wouldn't be left out). They ate shit a few times near coral reefs, gaining small scars litering their arms, legs, and sides. Step 3 patreon bonus moment happened, but it was only that once. They both decided it wasn't a necessary thing for their relationship, but knew they could talk to each other if either of them needed it.

Zenith chose to do online university to stay close- double majoring in writing, and astrology as they worked for Noelani's boutique- helping her expand her horizons into gender neutral formal wear.

Step 4 Zenith proposes to Cove, by the tree surrounded by white poppies. Wedding was held in large white poppy field, after party was held in the aquarium. Honeymoon was booked to take place in Greenland- at the blue lagoon.

Atlas Info:

Once again they were born female and used she/her pronouns until step 2 which they changed it to they/them and came out at nonbinary. They're a tall, slender, kid and remain tall their entire life- despite developing curves due to their originally assigned gender. (They get a top reduction by step 3 and a chosen uterus removal by step 4. Periods suck.)

Their eyes are two slightly different shades of blue and blue-gray, it's almost unnoticeable. BUT their hair is their most defining feature. The front half is a darker cranberry then their moms, while the back half is a golden-brown which they got from the donor their mom got. The donor had green eyes- but the blue came from his side of the family as well.

Before moving to Golden Grove (GG), them and their momma lived in a crowded city- similar to New York. Traffic was hectic, nights were loud, stars impossible to see, yada yada.

About a year and a half (they were 9) before they moved to GG they got pulled into an alley way and mugged at knife point while headed to school. It's how they got their scar on their neck, which they keep covered with turtle necks, scarfs, and band-aids.

When Opal found out about the incident she became overprotective and determined to find a job or promotion to get out of the city, til that happened she insisted that she accompanied Atlas to and from school daily.

After to moving to the small town of Golden Grove, they meet Qiu first- feeling comforted by his soft and friendly demeanor, this led to them being fast friends. Bonding over their mutual love of writing, sketching, and playfully teasing their friends.

When they met Tamarack they were slightly freaked out, anxious after she jumped out from the leaf piles- but slowly calmed down when they realized she was just a tiny, happy-go-lucky kid. When discovering her innocent nature they quickly adapted to being very protective of her, willingly becoming the scary dog friend of the group.

During step 2 they are a comfort for their two friends, but also a sheild from them from everyone/everything else. If someone picks on Tamarack? They're getting their ass beat. Someone annoys Autumn just a bit too much? They'll have a word with said person, scare 'em off. However- because of them taking care of their friends more than themself they unintentionally cause internal damage to their mental health, especially with the unresolved trauma from before they moved here.

Step 3 is when the roles get reversed, "their candle has burnt out, and they need someone else to guide their way." During this step Tam and Aut convince them to start going to therapy, eventually getting diagnosed with ADHD, PTSD, Generalized Anxiety, and Bodily Dsymorphia. Another thing that happens because of going to therapy and talking with the two alot more without drama, they start to realize they've got feelings for them both and don't know what to do.

Sadly- that's about all I got rn for them since the game's not done yet, so their story may change once the game comes out.

‘i feel like i could eat the world raw.’

that’s what harry says, and the longing in his cerulean eyes is so fierce, it almost hurts her heart. not for the first time, she curses a king that is not hers. (not the son, but the father.) 

harry has filled her in. traded tales of karka, of wars not fought on this planet, for tales about the people in auradon so that udyati knew what to expect (most people will not give a shit), who to respect (uma and harriet as well as other faction leaders) and a crash course in how to survive on the isle. because the isle is different than wherever she’s from, he’d said.

that had been months ago. 

sometimes udyati thinks about her mother. does amma even know that she’s gone? do her friends? 

sometimes udyati gets homesick, but then she meets harry on the deck of the lost revenge after speaking with noelani, whom she adores, and he - in all his six feet glory - is casually leaning against the railing and speaks of eating the world raw and his words make her shiver, make her feel something inside of her five feet six herself that she can’t quite name. or explain. their eyes meet. he nods. she grins, and he grins a sharp grin back at her and suddenly the feeling of homesickness is gone, as if it had never existed in the first place.

she gets drawn to him like a magnet. like a moth to a flame. to all of them, really, but mostly to him.

udyati thinks it’s because he’s the first person she met on the isle. 

“did you know?” she starts as she joins him - when had the railing of the ship became their defacto meeting place? - in looking out across the always murky waters. “that after kanya became known as the drowned planet, it��s people started believing in a huge creature that hasn’t been seen for ages?”

“what kinda creature?”

“a creature called timingila.”

harry frowns: “what the fuck kind of name is that?” writing that name down would be a form of torture, he thinks.

“a very long one,” udyati responds, “a long name, for an aquatic creature that can swallow whales and worlds in one bite.” she mimes opening her mouth and swallowing something huge and invisible and jonas, who, of course, takes this exact moment to walk past them, raises an eyebrow.

harry can’t quite place the knowing look in her warm, brown eyes and he doesn’t ask. not now. not yet. 

sometimes he thinks she would do well in club crossover. he can already see her sit on the stage, telling people about the places she’s been, describing it all in lush details. but that would mean other people trying to entice her and he’s not sure that he likes the look in rick ratcliffe’s beady eyes. 

“did you see one on the planets that you went to?” harry asks instead, despite the fact that the creature hasn’t been seen for a long while, and settles in for a tale. he’s hungry for them. he would eat the world whole for them. he would eat the world raw for them.

and so, it seems, would other crew members, but udyati never realizes that in those moments.

“no. but the story on kanya goes that it’s patron god - lord samudra - has three daughters. legitimate twins, born and raised in his underwater palace, and an illegitimate girl from earth. one day, his wife goes missing. he would go out to find her, but his underwater kingdom is under attack, and he and his army need to defend it. so he sends the twins instead. the oldest is bored. bored of everything but the thought of inheriting the throne. and the youngest just wants to fight. but she’s raised a princess, so she can’t...”

harry chuckles and shakes his head, and udyati continues: “...instead of fighting in her father’s army, she gets send to earth to find her half sister. she’s not very impressed. she finds her half sister, and her half sister’s mom, who she ends up antagonizing.”

other members of the crew chortle. harry thinks it’s bonny. 

“her half sister’s mom ends up giving her a blessing and the younger twin takes her half sister back to her father’s underwater kingdom, especially the palace, to meet the oldest twin. and it’s a beautiful place---”

udyati describes the underwater villages and the underwater kingdom to the best of her ability. she talks about the houses made of different shells, and the way the kingdom itself is made of smooth limestone.

somewhere in the small crowd, noelani gasps and jonas hums.

“---the twins’ wetnurse is a very strict woman, with a her hair wound tight in a bun with a hair clip made out of coral. she knows that the twins’ half sister hails from earth immediately.” 

udyati talks about how the three of them search for clues in the scroll room first, and then - after finding a clue they so desperately looked for - are off to maya’s. 

who is maya? 

maya is a demon.

but not any demon, oh no! maya’s an architect, you see! and every so often, maya gets bored, and then they host a competition. the person who crafts the best miniature place - whether it’s a palace, a school, a vacation home or anything else that catches maya’s eye - wins the competition and that miniature place gets transformed through their magic and becomes a part of maya’s residence.

the twins and the girl sneak their way in, of course. they meet new friends. they stay the night and find out that it’s a very sentient residence, indeed.

there’s a moment that might’ve been the starting point of something between the girl from earth and maya, had it not been for the fact that they were on a deadline! they had to save the twins’ mother!

afterwards, after the competition, maya’s residence gets attacked and the three girls flee, udyati tells the crew. and one of the girls loses her name during a gamble. horrified, she becomes more ghost than girl. the twins forget her. everyone forgets her. everyone!

she would have wasted away, had her own mother’s blessing not protected her from it.

“eventually, they follow the trail of golden coins that the goddess of chance games left behind. they make it through the cavern and end up at the ocean of milk. it’s as far and wide as the eye can see. and in the middle stands a platform. above that platform hangs a cage, suspended as though by magic. the twins don’t know how to get to the platform! they can’t swim there. the ocean of milk makes them feel drowsy. it’s like getting wrapped up in happy memories and good feelings. it makes you forget to swim; you drown.”

another person in the small crowd laughs loudly when udyati mimes falling asleep.

“so they get help from emerald horses. but they’ll only take them as far as the platform. after that, they’re on their own. one of the emerald horses realise that they have a ghost girl among them. but the twins are so focused on saving their mother that they still don’t.”

harry’s sitting down now, leaning against the railing with his back. udyati sits beside him.

“they finally meet timingila. he captured lord samudra’s wife because he wanted to marry her and had taken on a more human looking form to, perhaps, entice her, or whittle her defenses away.”

‘ugh, men,’ a crew member - probably desiree - says, and udyati smirks briefly before she continues: “she did not accept his proposal or his advances. so he decided that he would drop the cage into the ocean of milk.”

a huge fight breaks out! timingila versus the twins! and the ghost girl? she helps where she can. it’s a close call, but eventually, the twins defeat timingila and rescue their mother! lord samudra’s wife knows that they are not alone, and as they are all whisked away by the emerald horses, she makes a mental note to reward the three of them.

“once they’re back home, the twins make their way to their father to tell him that they’ve returned home. lord samudra’s wife and the girl from earth remain. she gives her husband’s illegitimate daughter a blessing, returning her name to her.”

“does she go home?” harry asks after a while and gives her a long look. 

“no,” says udyati slowly, “she trains for six months, learns the ways of the court, explains things about earth to the ones who want to know. when she was born, her mom had made a deal with lord samudra. they can’t kill her, but she stays underwater for six months and then is allowed to go back home for six months until they need her or she needs them.”

their eyes meet once more and for now, harry’s hunger is sated. for now, this is enough.

Dolphinaris dolphins transferred to Coral World

Ping, Sonny, Liko & Noelani were transferred to Coral World on February 20, 2019. The 4 bottlenose dolphins were moved from Dolphinaris Arizona following closure of the facility's dolphin swim program.

Statement via Dolphinaris Arizona regarding the move:

"Four dolphins being transferred from Dolphinaris Arizona have arrived safely in their new home: Coral World Ocean Park, a U.S. licensed marine habitat in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Their relocation was a joint decision with Dolphin Quest, who owns two of the dolphins, to keep all four together to maintain the bond that they have established during their two years together at Dolphinaris.

"Dolphins in the wild follow a fission-fusion social grouping which means that they naturally move between different groups of dolphins throughout their lives," explains Christian Schaeffer, general manager of Dolphinaris Arizona. "While they are very social animals and are able to adjust well to dynamic social groups, we are keeping these four dolphin friends together to help them acclimate to their new home."

To ensure a safe and smooth transition, the dolphins were transported by private jet, accompanied by their trainers and veterinary staff. All four dolphins are reported to be happy and healthy in their new environment. Marine mammal specialists will stay with them to help them adjust successfully.

Coral World Ocean Park offers interactive experiential learning programs for the public in a large, natural, ocean fed dolphin sanctuary.

The dolphins were transferred from Dolphinaris Arizona while the facility is closed temporarily for evaluation.

Dolphinaris is optimistic that the Scottsdale location will reopen as a new concept, not involving dolphins, and continue to carry out its mission in ocean conservation and education.

Meanwhile, evaluation of the Dolphinaris Arizona facility, including water testing and lab testing by pathologists, is still underway. No conclusions regarding what might have contributed to the health issues of the other dolphins have been made."

Kāne Systems in Waikīkī

In many different moʻolelo across the pae ʻāina of Hawaiʻi, two akua who went on countless adventures together are Kāne and Kanaloa. It is known that they had toured Hawaiʻi, swimming, eating and drinking ʻawa, and spouting up springs in different areas of each island; springs that are similar to those deeply connected to the meaning of Waikīkī’s name as a place of spouting waters. As the akua of fresh water, Kāne is connected to all the forces of nature that give us breath. Where Waikīkī was once a chiefly favorite for agriculture and fishing, Kāne is found in the sunlight, the agriculture, and the force that brings forth and sustains human life.

Noelani was always meant to mirror Amy: white trim, complementary color, but with a sporty/urban aesthetic.

She used to have pale coral shoes but it made her look too pale. The saturated pink strengthens her color palette.
