Lorenzo and Cosimo were better suited to each other's villains.

Cosimo should have gone up against Jacopo and Lorenzo should have dealt with Albizzi. Now let me explain.

Cosimo was much less trusting, and optimistic than Lorenzo. He really thought Albizzi would out to get him and his family, and I am not saying Albizzi wasn't trying to do that, but I don't think Rinaldo was 100% sold on destroying the Medici at the beginning. If Cosimo had treated him like a human being and maybe offered him something, kindness, or the benefit of the doubt, things might have ended up differently. I don't think they would have been best friends, but if Lorenzo had been the one to deal with Albizzi, I think Rinaldo would have been given the benefit of the doubt and would have seen that Lorenzo wanted to build a better Florence for all, not just for the Medici. Lorenzo would not have jumped the gun when labeling Albizzi the villain and might have taken a different approach and had a better outcome.

Now, on the other hand, Lorenzo went about dealing with Jacopo all wrong. Jacopo Pazzi was set to destroy the Medici and burn down everything they built from the beginning. He never should have been given the benefit of the doubt by Lorenzo. It backfired horribly.

Cosimo, I don't think would have given Jacopo an inch. Cosimo would have dealt with him more harshly as he did with the Albizzi and Jacopo wouldn't have gotten the upper hand for a bit.

Cosimo and Wendy

"It's okay. Following Ruby's orders is following Lord Fumus's orders."

Cosimo:

Fumus created the twins specifically to take care of Ruby and all of her needs as a human. Cosimo's specific role is to be the caring and gentle caretaker. Ruby mentions once that Cosimo is the most gentle man she had ever met.

His loyalty to Fumus is much easier to shake, as it tends to be overrided by the loyalty to Ruby he was created with. He clearly has not yet fallen though, so he does retain at least some faith in his god.

Wendy:

Her specific role is to be the kind and supportive best friend. Unlike her younger twin brother, she doesn't smile very often. Her expression is typically neutral. She has proven much more difficult to shake her loyalty to Fumus than Cosimo.

Wendy has alluded to Ruby that Fumus created her with a special ability, but was unable to specify it before being interrupted.

Over time, both twins will be more than willing to take the fall for Ruby in her attempts to escape Kumo-no-Kuni and go home. However, in some ways, they are just as ignorant as she is about the situation they all live in.

This. Scene.

In handing over his dagger, Giuliano chooses to save Lorenzo’s life over his own. He knows the attackers are only one step behind him. He knows he has no chance of defending himself if he gives away his weapon. He knows he’s consigning himself to a horrible, brutal, painful death. He knows, and he chooses to anyways

We can easily just look at this as a tragic choice, where after Simonetta’s death Giuliano doesn’t feel he has anything left to live for. But he fights back throughout the scene before this one, and tries to get away from the attackers. That’s how he acquires the dagger in the first place. Those aren’t the actions of a man who wants to die. But he’s willing to die, if it means Lorenzo gets to live, and that’s an important distinction. (The even more heartbreaking way of looking at this is that he’s not actually fighting to live himself, but just to get the dagger and have the chance to give it to Lorenzo, but I digress)

His very final act is to save Lorenzo’s life. And I think that’s worth remembering
