🇨🇺🇺🇲 CUBAN EMBASSY RELEASES VIDEO OF MOLOTOV COCKTAIL ATTACK: CALLS IT WHAT IT IS, A TERRORIST ATTACK
The Cuban Embassy released CCTV footage of a person walking up to the Cuban Embassy, and lighting two Molotov cocktails before flinging the incendiary bombs into Cuban Embassy grounds on their property in Washington.
"Moment in which the terrorist arrives in front of the Cuban Embassy in the US and ignites the Molotov cocktails and throws them against the facade of the Mission" the Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla wrote as the caption to the video on X.
Cuban Ambassador to the United States, Lianys Torres Rivera told the AP, "Imagine how the US would label a person, or an event where a person standing outside one of your embassies around the world, throws two Molotov cocktails; would the US label this a Civilian case, or a [hate crime] or any other case? No."
"We think that the origin, the roots, it is, in this case, a policy of aggression and hatred against Cuba that for decades has been the difference between the US Administration and our country."

[ad_1] An assailant attacked the Cuban Embassy in the United States capital of Washington, DC with two Molotov cocktails, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said on social media, adding that nobody was hurt. The attack occurred on Sunday night just hours after Cuba’s leader Miguel Diaz-Canel returned to the island, having attended events at the United Nations in New York last week. No one took responsibility for the attack, which caused no significant damage or casualties, according to Cuban officials, although Havana quickly pinned blame on Cuban exiles in the US. “Anti-Cuban groups turn to terrorism when they feel impunity, something Cuba has repeatedly warned US authorities about,” Rodriguez said on X, formerly known as Twitter. Cuba’s President Diaz-Canel denounced that attack and said he was awaiting “action from the North American authorities”. “Hatred once again last night caused a terrorist attack against our embassy in Washington, an act of violence and weakness that could have cost precious lives,” he wrote on X. The Cuban leader’s appearance last week at the UN was met with demonstrations by opponents of the Communist government in Havana founded by Fidel Castro. White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Monday that the US strongly condemned the reported attack. “We are in contact with Cuban embassy officials and law enforcement authorities to ensure an appropriate and timely investigation as well as to offer our support for future protective efforts,” he said in a statement. US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters that his department was coordinating with Washington, DC police in the investigation.   [ad_2]

Nearly All U.N. Members Condemn U.S. Embargo on Cuba
Summary:
In a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly last week, delegates overwhelmingly voted to condemn the United States' continued trade embargo on Cuba, with one holdout being the representative from Israel. The resolution to condemn America's sanctions against Cuba has been brought to the U.N. every year for the past thirty years, gaining more support this year than it ever has. Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez spoke of the "cruel" toll the embargo has taken on Cuba's economy: over $6 billion since President Biden assumed office, and insurmountably more since it was first instituted in 1960. While President Obama attempted to ease tensions between the U.S. and Cuba, predecessors Trump and Biden have reversed those efforts by enforcing further sanctions. Biden has justified the latest sanctions as a condemnation of Cuba's police response to protests last year, which evolved into violent anti-government protests. But Cuba's UN ambassador Yuri Gala believes, as do most UN members, that "if the United States government really did care for [...] human rights and self-determination of the Cuban people, it could lift the embargo," (Gala, "Only one country backs US in UN Cuba vote").
Analysis:
America's embargo on Cuba is a relic of the Cold War and its efforts to prop up governments around the world that favor capitalism and liberalism – many of which have failed. Most notably, the U.S. provided financial and military support to the regime of dictator Fulgencio Batista in the post-World War II era. Batista was severely authoritarian, but his economic policies allowed the U.S. to benefit from trade with Cuba, and he led a prominent campaign against "Communist activities." America's support for Batista despite his corrupt leadership, and its subsequent hostility towards a Castro-led Cuba, demonstrates the realist theory that states will ultimately abandon principles in favor of self-interest. U.S. foreign policy regarding Cuba prioritized the relative gains of its own power over the idealist approach of cultural consistency. If America truly were a staunch proponent of democracy, it would have condemned Batista's authoritarian abuses and use of secret police forces. But to American officials, creating a capitalist global economy was more advantageous than opposing Batista's anti-democratic dictatorship. Put in terms of the prisoner's dilemma, America chose to confess, not cooperate.
Fidel Castro as a popular leader championing socialist ideals posed an ideological threat to the U.S. in its efforts to emerge as the capitalist global hegemon. It lended legitimacy to the ideals of the Soviet Union, America's opponent in the Cold War and the other end of the bipolar global power structure. While the U.S. enjoyed hegemon status after the Soviet Union fell, growing opposition to the U.S. trade sanctions against Cuba reflect a shift towards a more multipolar power distribution. As nations like China, India, and Russia gain influence, so too do ideologies counter to American and western ideals; socialism and anti-capitalist sentiments are increasingly popular around the world. The U.N.'s near-unanimous vote against America's actions symbolizes a new balance of power that challenges U.S. supremacy on the global stage.

#SOSCUBA & The Media
Tumblr media
The author of this image is Eva Marie Uzcategui, it shows a large group of people protesting with Cuban flags and a sign that reads “SOS Cuba” like the hashtag being used on social media. As the author puts it when she captioned it in her own social media “People demonstrate, some holding Cuban and US National flags, during a protest against the Cuban government in Miami on July 11, 2021.”. Even with no description, there are also other indicators to the location this picture was taken in, for example, the several red hats across this image, the infamous Donald Trump supporter hats that read “Make America Great Again”, which we can safely assume wouldn’t exist as much in a country whose official language is Spanish and not English. Nevertheless, CNN captioned this image “Cubans take to streets in rare anti-government protest over lack of freedoms, worsening economy”. Just changing a simple piece of information like the location, it can impact the perspective of how an image is seen politically. Like Susan Sontag writes in “On Photography” “Photographs cannot create a moral position, but they can reinforce one-and can help build a nascent one.” (1977).
Tumblr media
This was taken in Alexandria, Egypt, on February 11, 2011 by Tarek Fawzy. It was also used across Twitter with the hashtag SOS Cuba.
The first account to use the hashtag SOS Cuba was only suspended by Twitter after days of posting more than 1000 times a day and the location pointed to Spain.
Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said about the issue: "I have irrefutable proof that the majority of those that took part in this (internet) campaign were in the United States and used automated systems to make content go viral, without being penalized by Twitter,".
This isn’t the first time US media tries to manipulate what their viewers think of Cuba, a country that won independence over the United States in 1902. In 2010 a US government official Joe McSpedon planned to make an app similar to Twitter called ZenZuneo. It planned to start showing the Cuban audience non-threatening content that would slowly escalate into introducing political content trying to incentivise them into protesting against the government. All the while without making their subscribers aware that it was created by the US government or that the app was gathering your private data in the hope that it might be used for political purposes.
Tumblr media
Another photographer who had their art misconstrued by the media was Eliana Aponte. This picture was taken in Cuba, Havana, on July 11, 2021. The Financial Times, Fox News, The New York Times and The Guardian all captioned this image with “Anti-government protesters”. ABC News took the next step and even called it “Historic anti-government protests sweep across Cuba”. In reality, they were Government supporters gathering at the Máximo Gómez monument. The photo was actually from a commemoration of the 26th of July, the date that marks the main event that preceded the Cuban Revolution of 1959. Later The Guardian edited the article admitting that the photo published was actually of PRO-government Cubans, not anti-government as it had falsely claimed before.
Although the Cuban people are known to protest against the US Embargo, the American corporate media made it seem like these protests in Miami were the Cubans demonstrating against their government. Many users on social media were also sharing photos of gatherings in not just Egypt, but other countries like Spain and Argentina, from unrelated pretexts like football gatherings, and pretending it depicted the unrest in Cuba by simply captioning it that way. The event did happen, but it wasn’t exactly as the writers of the articles wanted it to be, but the images are what makes it seem more real to the viewer, that doesn’t know the context of the picture, as Susan Sontag puts it “the camera record justifies. A photograph passes for incontrovertible proof that a given thing happened” (1977).
Tumblr media
This photograph is by the same artist as the last one, Eliana Aponte. She has several series of images highlighting Fidel Castro and his party. In this series of 48 photographs titled “Fidel Alejandro Castro Cruz”, photographed around the time of his death, Eliana takes us around Havana, Cuba, showing mostly the people’s pride, love and admiration for the figure, but also the grief and respect, from several pictures of people crying at his funeral, to moments of the crowd mingling and celebrating his life. Another series of images titled “Rebels Before Signing Peace” shows intimate moments of the rebels FARC (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia) the Colombian revolutionary armed forces, and one more called “The Beauty of Cuba”, centres solely on the colourful and beautiful landscapes around Cuba.
In her pictures she isn’t just taking them for tourism, she shows the character of the country and location by focusing on the people living there, with no specific political view. The people aren’t posing, the atmosphere is real, it wasn’t a staged moment with all the details of the background being carefully chosen, the colours, the perspective and the ambience make a normal rural moment look like a painting.

When Putin’s Proxies Murdered Americans—and Obama Cowered and Lied to their Grieving Families
When Putin’s Proxies Murdered Americans—and Obama Cowered and Lied to their Grieving Families
By: Humberto Fontova “Remarking on the soaring tensions between Ukraine and Russia, Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Eduardo Rodriguez Parrilla voiced support for Moscow and echoed his voice against NATO’s expansion eastward.” (This was way back on Feb. 20, by the way.) Most of us recall the Obama administration’s lies and treachery regarding Benghazi. But how many of you know about the Obama…
