Watching ‘Judgment Day’ and one thing always amuses me.

People get murdered left, right and centre in Midsomer and Cully barely bats an eyelid, but when Tom mentions Peter Drinkwater having relationships with two women at the same time, she is shocked and outraged.

I guess in the land of criminality and moral dubiousness that is Midsomer, you’ve got to pick your battles.

I'm never going to get over how Joyce and Cully seemed to NEVER get used to Tom running out of the house or an event for a case/emergency. Surely he's been doing this Cully's whole life and his and Joyce's whole married life? You'd think they wouldn't get so UPSET with him over it. I mean it obviously sucks, but he's a first responder and shit happens. I just think at a certain point it becomes unfair to him tbh, that's his job, his livelihood. It isn't his fault, as much as it's awful. I feel like Joyce at least should know what she signed up for, and Cully must be used to it

//Rewatching Death of a Hollow Man and I still get irrationally irritated every time I see the scene at the intermission with Troy and Cully. Troy's clearly over his head, culturally speaking, but he's trying to get it and he's starting to enjoy himself, and his new experience. When he tells Cully as much though, she has to be snide about how community theater isn't really the Theater. It's like, really... just because she's been lucky enough to go to Cambridge, and be exposed to high-quality shows (probably professional West End shows honestly), doesn't mean she should be dismissive like that. Troy's clearly from a very blue-collar background, took a big step out of his usual comfort zones of science fiction shows and sports, and his new interest and enthusiasm is met with... that. It just drives me crazy...

Hmm. I remember when i first watched Midsomer Murders, the S06E02, where Cully kissed Troy (yes it was her going first. She was sober also while he must have been quite drunk), i thought then, go Troy! How cute for them. It was more than 10 years ago.

Sadly the melancholy of life catches on when you get older. Watched the ep again now. Was kinda clear to me Troy was jealous of Barnaby having such respect, such admiration for dr. Moore... I feel Troy "went after" Cully just to (hopefully unconsciously) spite Barnaby back.

Ah well. Its allright, cause i feel they both (Cully and Troy) knew it would never work between them.

I will grieve my younger self's headcanons and then move on

These are some ways to survive in Midsomer that came to my mind and that I think are valid:

Be a Barnaby. Whether by adoption or marriage it doesn't matter but if it is by marriage, no wedding cerimony has to be made

Work for the police. Doesn't matter if as constable, detective, forensic scientist or pathologist.

Never join a group activity if Joyce is a member (and leave any group if she joins it). Someone will certainly die and it won't be her.

Live in Causton. The murders and investigations almost always happen in small villages and very few times in the town.

Never exit your house, never have interactions with anyone and most important never date anyone. Self-explanatory.

Don't be queer. You can't live happily if you're not straight, you'll either be killed or kill.
