rare matchup trade with @mysteriawrites
for one of my very cute friends. i was in a major writing slump over the summer but she encouraged me to get out of my slump by offering a matchup trade! this is my first matchup for someone and very overdue on my part so i'm excited wehe
☆ and even though it’s a matchup i tried to write a full fic with her in mind, but applicable to anyone. especially because this is a whole entire fic with 5,905 words.
mysteria sent me a super detailed description in our dms so here's a summary of it:
mysteria is 5'2, african american, a capricorn and an infj! she's kind, responsible, moody, soft-spoken, and introverted. she also describes herself as a social chameleon that can match the energy of a room, from quiet and clumsy to sassy and teasing if she's comfortable enough. she likes animals, books, reading and writing, personality quizzes, rpg/mmo/rhythm games, and sweets. however, she dislikes loud sounds, math, trypophobia, spiders, and inconsiderate people. she also dislikes when people she cares about don't properly take care of themselves, but tends to forget her own needs. she's really a caring person at heart!
your matchup is under the cut for the drama! i match you with...!
Mischievous but observant, the Phantom Thief Alban Knox!
tags: gender neutral reader, getting together, hurt/comfort, reader is an overworker, bad work environment, happy ending, breaking and entering (and other thief-typical crimes lol)
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
There's this little convenience store right in your neighborhood that happens to be on your daily commute to work.
The first time you visit, you realize it's about five minutes away from your home and open 24/7, perfect for late-night snack runs.
The staff is so small, the same guy works the graveyard shift whenever you visit: tousled mocha-brown hair, a lanky body too thin for his uniform shirt, and two differently colored eyes. One is dark, while the other is so vividly green it makes him look intelligent.
It doesn't take long before he starts to memorize your usual order, and for you to memorize the Hi, my name is Alban! name tag over his apron.
With time the friendly customer service starts to become just actual friend behavior. You begin to learn more about one another. He asks you about your day, and when you mention some of your coworkers at your dime-a-dozen tech job he's able to remember who's who.
Meanwhile you've seen the two bowls outside the sliding doors, one full of water and the other kibble. Alban leaves them out for the neighborhood cats, and you've been lucky enough to meet a few of them before they scamper away.
Alban is like a brother to the strays, however, and the konbini tends to be empty whenever you visit, so there's no one to stop him when the cats paw at his leg, begging him to pick them up as you rant about your latest project. They even let you pet them once or twice before they climb over Alban's shoulders, watching you with nighttime pupils. Apparently that's rare. The first time a stray nuzzles your palm, Alban secretly slides you an extra pack of the snack cakes you wanted.
"If she trusts you, then you can keep a secret," he says. The cat's tail curls around his wrist before he nonchalantly drop the cake into your bag. "Our secret, right?"
Over time it becomes a part of your routine. Work during the day, visit the konbini, relax after a good conversation with Alban. Once your company picks up a new security project, your schedule slowly folds over. With Alban's late-night shifts and you working longer hours after getting a lead position, he becomes one of the few consistencies in a hectic career.
You really do treasure the time you spend with him. Now that so much is going on at work it's like his store is the only place you can unwind before you get back to programming at home.
Not to mention he's one of the few night owls you know, and the only one that was there for you when you felt like you were falling apart.
It's not like you wanted to let your defenses down, though. You'd been working tirelessly for weeks on this security system, but today your clients blew a fuse over things out of your control. All this effort, and the way they reacted made you feel like it was for nothing.
"Welcome!" Alban's standard customer service voice disappears once he recognizes your face. "Hey, it's my favorite—woah, wait. Are you okay?"
It stuns you how quickly he picked up on your mood. The second you left work, you spent ten minutes trying to wipe the ‘on the verge of tears’ look off your face.
"Don't worry, Alban, I'm fine." You try to smile. "Just a busy day at work. What're the daily specials today?"
"Oh! Uh..."
It's pretty obvious that wasn't a convincing excuse, but he lists off the menu anyways. You appreciate that he knows how to give you space.
You decide halfway through that you'd rather get your usual, though, too exhausted to think of trying anything new. "And a donut," you add, longing for a comfort food.
While Alban gets started on your food, the aisles of bright, prepackaged snacks feels like staring at a headache. Itching for relief, you stare outside the windows instead. A grayed tail swishes along the glass outside while two nighttime pupils stare right back at you.
The air prods at your skin as the sliding doors open, and you approach the cat. You recognize her as one of the first to warm up to you when you started to visit. She continues to watch you, even as you reach a hand out. Her tail rises like smoke.
The stray's eyes squint up into crescents as you scratch under her chin. "A meal and affection for free," you muse. You're trying to not be bitter, especially since this one is skittish, but you can’t help but feel envious. "Must be nice being a cat instead of a human."
The brisk nighttime air stills. This calm makes everything feel like it’s falling out of your grasp, but you don’t have a choice in the matter. You're a resigned observer to your own life.
"I just don't know what to do," you say. Your job pays well, but you’re so sick of being treated like this, especially after such a bad meeting with your client.
The stray nestles up closer to your hand, nudging the touch closer to her body so you can stroke her back. Not a moment later, she backs away. With powerful legs and silent breaths, she pounces down from the ledge, while the smoke trails into the shadowy brush on the other side of the parking lot.
So you lean back against the wall. Cold brick outlines your back. Damn. Not even the strays are cooperating with your shitty day.
By the time you return to the inside of the konbini, your nose is reddened from the chill. The overhead lights wash the color out of your face, so bright that the night outside seems jarring.
At least you can smell your food. Alban returns to the counter with a paper bag that feels warm to the touch, and a to-go box full of donuts.
You cock your head. “I only ordered one donut, didn’t I?”
“Yep.” He seals the box with a sticker. It’s a cute cat with the same mismatched eyes as him and ‘Freshness Guaranteed!’ underneath its paw.
“So why…?”
“Because I want to give you some. It’s nice to get freebies, especially when it’s for a friend that could use ‘em,” he says. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t ask, but you’re not doing so hot, are you? If there’s anything I can do to help, let me know. I’d be happy to. Help you, I mean.”
He slides the bag of food and the donut box to your side of the counter. “But for now, you just keep those and take a moment to yourself.”
A steady aroma follows the bag while the donut box is warm under your fingers, freshly baked and at no extra charge, simply just because. One green eye and one dark stares up at you from the sticker, blending into the white fur as your vision blurs.
"Alban."
"Yeah, what's—?"
Alban’s question falters. Instead you speak, with one hand up at your eyes, glossy and turning wetter by the second. “Thanks.”
It seems the mask has fallen now. You hunch over as you sniffle. Hot shame seeps down your back like burning oil, the tears feeling more and more like they’re boiling. It only makes you more embarrassed and frustrated, which causes even more heat behind your eyes, and the cycle continues. Now here you are, crying in the cold light of a konbini while the poor cashier has no way out. You don’t even have the heart to look up at Alban’s face.
“Sorry,” you say. Your voice sticks together. “I-I shouldn’t be like this.”
“Why not?”
“Because I’m acting like a big baby, and I’m fine, I’m just—just making it weird, a-and you don’t even want to know.”
“But I do!”
Even though you don’t have the strength to raise your head, you can see Alban’s hands through mottled vision; namely, how they clutch at the counter—right before he sets them both over yours. You’ve never seen him without a pair of food-safe gloves, and these are no different, a solid black that sticks to your skin while fingers rest on your knuckles.
At his outburst, you dare to look up. His eyes are closed, mouth set in a crinkled frown, barely pursed as if he wants to say something. Alban reconsiders just as he opens it. Hesitation crawls into lowered brows, and your heart pangs even harder when he looks down at the hands. Either you’re seeing things, or there’s a bittersweet look in one eye and concern in the other. “If you trust me, then I want to know.
“Because you’re not ‘fine’. If you really were then you wouldn’t be crying at someone doing one tiny nice thing,” he blurts. “Did someone hurt you? Because if they did, I’ll give them a piece of my mind, no questions asked.”
“It’s… not a someone.”
That gets him to squeeze your palm. A wave of understanding bleeds through and travels up your veins. “I’m all ears.”
You squeeze back, eyelids smashing together as another fat tear rolls down your cheek. “It’s my jobbb.”
You aren’t exactly proud of how you weep, but the way Alban listens to you erases the regret. You spill your guts about the client, the meeting, the mismanagement, and that stupid security system you’ve been working on. Halfway through, Alban flips the ‘OPEN’ sign to ‘CLOSED’, thumbs off his gloves, and sits next to you properly.
By now his touch returns, resting fingertips on your knuckles and rubbing up your wrist. Without the gloves, he’s warmer than ever, and softer. He passes you a box of tissues from the office, too, and doesn’t even flinch when you honk into the tissues in-between sobs.
You explain everything, even the tiny stresses in your career. “I’m lost. It pays so much but I’m so exhausted,” you say. “I don’t want to leave but sometimes I just wish I could, I don’t know, transfer to a different location, or give the client to someone else, or hell, some kind of payback.
“But I’d not that kind of person. And even if I was…” Your eyes cast downward. The tears have slowed but they’re still so wet with misery. “I’m so tired.”
Your heart aches just at saying it. The realization has set in now. You’re tired.
That’s putting it mildly. You never noticed until now, but there’s an indescribable weight in your neck and shoulders, just about ready to snap you in two under the pressure. You used to love this job, and you still love what you do, but only now are you realizing you’ve put far more into it than your superiors deserve.
“That’s fucked,” Alban finally says, and you almost snort at how plainly he says it. Instead it comes out as a weak chuckle.
“Can’t your boss put two and two together and realize you’re already giving one hundred percent—no, two hundred into the project?” He asks, even though you both know the answer. “That’s stupid. There’s a whole staff of people, so they need to get their head out of their ass and give you a break.”
“I wish.” You sniffle. “I’m just a generic worker, but I’m the only one that knows exactly how everything operates. Makes me feel like I can't even rest.”
“Do you have any time off?”
“Well, yeah.”
“So take it. You need it,” Alban says. Then he playfully nudges you. “You know you deserve to treat yourself.”
That gets another chuckle out of you, louder than the last. He smiles softly, and points out, sssssss “You’re laughing more.”
“You say things so simply that, I dunno, it makes things feel less difficult. Like when I think about it, it’s like this swirling black hole.” You exhale. “I was thinking about taking time off, earlier, but I told myself to tough it out instead of giving up. But now it doesn’t feel as extreme.”
“It’s not giving up. It’s resting. That’s a requirement.”
“Yeah. It just… doesn’t feel like it when I’m talking about me.”
“Then let me be the first to remind you that you’re allowed to relax just like the rest of us.”
You wipe your eyes again, this time with a tissue while Alban rubs your back. You’ve known that for as long as you can remember, but hearing Alban say it out loud is the beginnings of understanding. Internalizing that need.
You sniff, but rather than with hopelessness, a different feeling swells in your throat. Something like recognition, warm and loose rather than tight.
“Thanks,” you say. “For the food. And, you know, all this…”
The words get lost along the way, so you settle with a gentle tilt of your head to gesture.
Alban seems to get it without much trouble, though, and pats your back reassuringly. “It’s nothing.”
“I’d argue otherwise. I must have been a nuisance—“
“It's nothing,” he repeats. “No problem at all. If you ever walk in here crying again I’d do anything to make you feel better, you know.”
“Oh.” That makes you look away, almost scared of the fact. This type of caring is unfamiliar, and now that you’re all cried out, you can’t make heads or tails of the feeling. “That’s really sweet, I think.”
Alban lifts his hand off your body. The absence picks you up and out of your thoughts, so you raise your head. You watch as it rests back on his neck, right underneath his tousled brown hair. “Don’t mention it. Uh, how do you get home?”
“I usually walk.”
“Not that I don’t trust you, but you’re not about to walk home by yourself after crying your eyes out. I’ll drive you.”
Your eyes widen. “No, you don’t have to! I don’t want to be a bother!”
“Hey, I’m offering. No one visits at this time of night anyway, except for you.”
“Yeah, but it feels like I’m being a burden or something, and I don't want to cause more trouble for you than I already have, and—oh, forget it.” You bury your face in your hands. Your cheeks are still tempered from crying earlier, but now you can feel the unmistakable heat of embarrassment as well. “You’re not going to let this up, are you?”
He says, “Only if you’re sure you’ll get home safe. It’s late.”
“Fine, you can drive.” You pat at your face with the tissue. Your tears have long since dried, but maybe this will hide the blush. “I can’t say thank you enough.”
Alban shrugs that praise off as well, so intent on refusing your gratitude that it comes across as either sheepish or blasé. He busies himself with locking up the store while you clean yourself up (again) in the bathroom. He opens the car door for you before you can open it yourself.
The stick shift is a few years behind, but the console is rigged up to connect to Alban's phone. Before he starts driving, he hands it to you. "You can choose the music."
You thumb through a streaming service before finding a title your recognize from one of your own playlists, and at the first few notes of the song, the car enters motion. It's a quiet, comfortable silence filled up by the song and your directions to your home.
The walk to the konbini is fast, but driving is even faster, and the song barely ends as he pulls up to your home. "You got everything?" He asks.
You nod. "I do. Thanks, Alban."
"It's noth—"
"Oh, quit playing yourself down already." Before you can slip out of your seat, you lay a hand over Alban's as it rests on the stick shift, just like how he comforted you earlier. "No one at work took time out of their day to hear me out, not even my friends. You did. That means something."
"Still!" Alban says. "I wouldn't just ignore you."
"A lot of people would, and did. You're a lot better than you give yourself credit for." You poke his cheek. "Now repeat after me: you're welcome."
The poke makes his face squish up, cheek smushing into the corner of his lips while one eye closes. He blinks, uncertain, as if he entered uncharted territory. He likely has. If it wasn't apparent before, it certainly was by how long it took him to avert his eyes and say the words. “…You’re welcome.”
You squish his cheeks a little more as friendly affection. Barely visible under the overhead light, his face tints pink under the pressure of your hands. “Glad to hear it. I’ll see you later, Alban.”
“Right. Rest well?”
“I will.”
The door shuts and the headlights shine long shadows behind you as you walk away. Alban watches as you pull out your keys. You notice the shining lights only dim out after you’ve stepped inside your humble abode, and the warm feeling rises up again. He made sure you were inside safe and sound before he drove away.
It’s with that warm feeling that you speed through your nighttime routine and fall asleep in your bed.
It returns each time you visit the konbini after that night, too. Alban, in all his selflessness, still insists on giving you even more freebies than you know what to do with.
“Damn, Reader, if you visit even more often, I’ll have to order extra shipments of candies,” he quips as he scans your items—then snatches a king-size snack and slips it into your bag without charging you a cent more.
You snicker. “It’s not like I ask. You’re the one that won’t quit giving me things for free.”
“I’ve got more than enough to go around.”
“But you just said you’d have to order more.”
“How’s work? Still doing the security thing?” He asks.
You roll your eyes to the ceiling and huff not a second later. “Yep, same old, same old. One of my coworkers used the wrong parts on something, so I had to spend my entire shift today disassembling and reassembling it myself.”
"You know what I'm going to say—"
"That it's unfair and stupid?"
"—Among other things, but you're just going to say the pay is too good to leave, aren't you," he finishes.
You focus on the counter rather than Alban's movements. It's been a while since that night he drove you home and the wound has healed, but there's no mistaking the beginnings of a scar at the memory, all puffy-pink as it tries to recover to what once was.
You hate to admit it, but he's right. He quoted something you said word-for-word last week.
"I'm not just predictable, I'm mad," you say. "And tired of being mad."
"Not at anything new, is it?"
You sigh. "Nope. It's more like a lot of little things building up and just whittling me down. Same ol' soul-crushing machine as always."
The cash register dings as Alban places all your items into the bag, and you pay for half of what you should. "There isn't anything keeping you happy or loyal, is there?"
"Not really. It's all miserable, even the other departments." You even laugh bitterly. "I guess the employees get paid so much because there's no budget going into decent HR."
"You know what I'm going to say."
"Don't waste your breath."
"I can't tell you what to do."
"Gotta pay my bills somehow." The receipt inches out. Alban tears it off and slips it into the bag. "I'm looking, but I can't just quit yet. At this point, I don't care what happens to the place, as long as I get paid. Need to finish the security system before moving onto another job."
"I hope someone gives you a better offer soon. Workplace culture included."
"Me too." He offers the bag to you. You take the handles from Alban with crinkles and a skim along his fingertips. "At least I've got nothing planned tonight but binging a TV show over snacks." You jostle the bag, and the many candies inside. "In no small part because of you."
He beams at that, just before wiring his mouth into a thin smile to cover up his happiness. "We're always open! And I'm always here."
"I'm counting on it." That happiness spreads to you like watercolor on paper. "I'll come back soon, Alban."
He sees you off with the good cheer and well-wishes you've come to expect from Alban, and a request to keep out of trouble. Once the crisp white of the konbini's lights fade away into the night as you walk home, the dismal feeling returns.
Maybe you should take his advice and quit while you're ahead. It's no secret this job will kill you one day.
You bite back the thought as soon as it comes to mind. You need the cash. Quitting is tempting, but if you leave now, you won't have enough savings to fall back on.
"Until this commission is over," you mutter under your breath. You'll put in the two-week notice then, once the security project is complete, and that stuck-up client coughs up the high price for all your effort.
Until then, until then, until then. Your mind echoes as you go down the familiar path home, staving off the urge to think any more on it. All that's left for you to do today is watch some shows, relax, and hopefully, get a good night's rest before doing the same thing again tomorrow.
Even though the night in serves as a good distraction, you remember the grind ahead as you tuck yourself into bed, and with it, Alban's wishes for your happiness pushes the harsh thoughts away as you drift off.
As you'd expect, the days ahead are predictably mundane, save for the awful work environment you've become so used to over time. Some days it feels like you're the only competent person in the building. Other days you know it's true.
Which brings you to now. The coworker that sits closest to you left to go file some papers in another office—or take a personal call for the next twenty minutes, it's always a toss up with them—leaving you to your own devices as you work on something that should've been completed earlier this week. Again.
The office you're currently in is built for three at most, though it rarely fits that many. Usually you're by yourself or with another coworker, and now that you're alone, you have the freedom to sigh. You know how these things work, but having to pick up so much slack is just plain exhausting.
The lights go out.
The first thing you think is if the latest updates were saved. Your brain reminds you that the program was on autosave every minute, and you haven't typed in five. It'll be fine.
The next thing is that considering your industry, there's more than a few backup generators. There's no way it would take this long for one of them to kick in and get power back to the building.
Something's wrong. You don't have a clue, but outside your office windows, you can catch glimpses of other workers evacuating. There's no way it could be a natural disaster, and you doubt a fire would cut the lights, but considering how fast the other workers clear out, you aren't staying to find out.
You're one of the last people to leave a personal office, and you presume the last to start moving. The halls twist in the darkness, but you've memorized the layout, and your phone's flashlight guides the way.
The sound of keys on keys jingle behind you. You pivot with a start "Who's there?"
No one responds. Your light reaches a few feet ahead before being swallowed by the darkness. The ceiling boasts some LEDs for detectors, cameras, and the far-off 'EXIT' sign but not much else, and none of them are helpful at the moment.
Something else whooshes ahead, and you turn again, now starting to feel like a fish being circled by a shark.
"This isn't funny," you call out. That was stupid of you. Maybe the job is rotting your brain, and it'll be the reason behind your death, trapped in your shitty office while everyone else evacuates.
With steeled nerves you keep walking, twisting your phone around to get a piece-by-piece view of the hallways. The light bounces off the waxy leaves of a houseplant by a door. The water cooler where you refill your water bottle. Two pointed strikes of orange that shine one-at-a-time as the light flashes.
Cloth covers your mouth before you can scream.
They wire around as the orange comes into focus, now identifiable as two pins in a head full of shaggy hair. The intruder rests a finger on his lips as he shushes you, one green eye and one dark reflecting the light from your phone.
You manage to shake off his grip and hiss. "Alban?"
He blinks before widening his mismatched eyes. "Wh-what are you talking about? I don't know anyone named Alban."
"Oh, cut the crap, you—" You start, but remember the LED lights up on the ceiling. The cameras! You tug on his jacket sleeve as you dive into a corridor hidden from the security cameras, and luckily, he's shocked enough to stumble along. He slips out of your grasp in a matter of seconds, but instead climbs along the walls and hops between structures to obscure himself like a superhero out of a movie.
You push yourself flat against a wall as if it would hide you any further, while Alban clings onto the ceiling and inches down, dangling in midair. A strap is attached to the roof and around his body not unlike climbing gear.
"I'd recognize you anywhere," you say, "and if I didn't before then I definitely did the second you started talking."
Alban looks away. "Oh. Right. I should've expected that."
"Never mind that, what are you doing here? I work here!" You push him lightly, and he sways in air from the force. "Don't tell me you're behind the power outage."
He scratches the back of his head and gives you a coy smile, only half-apologetic, until you push him more. He flails before steadying himself by holding onto your shoulders. "Wait, I had a reason!"
"Uh-huh, and you're going to tell me it right now before I call the cops!"
"Psh, they couldn't catch me even if they tried—" Shove. Alban swivels around aimlessly. "Okay, okay, fine! I'm a phantom thief."
You grab him and glare. "So you decided to target my workplace after hearing me complain about it for eons. Give me one good reason not to twist you so hard we test if motion sickness can result in death."
"I mean, not entirely off?" He says with a sigh. "Okay, hear me out. The konbini isn't exactly a moneymaker. So I steal things here and there, but only from people who don't deserve it. You know, the types that steal their assets, treat everyone like dirt, exploit hard-working, good people... You see where I'm going with this, right?"
"Go on."
"I like to take only a little bit of it for myself, then forward whatever else I find to the original owners, or community projects that would use the cash way better than some hoarder. Which is why I decided to come here. It has an awful rep despite its net worth, and I dunno, it just seems like it sucks more and more of your soul out the longer you work here." Alban frowns. Even upside-down in the air, his concern is heartfelt, as genuine as that day you confided in him.
You can't even say he's wrong, not entirely. He really did listen to all your woes.
"So... I did some research. Didn't like what I saw. I don't think it's news to you, either."
"It's not great, no." You cross your arms. "So you decided to steal from them."
Alban pats down his pockets. Each of them has a hidden zipper, you realize, which must explain how he hasn't dropped any of his loot until he produces it and shows it to you. One by one, he hands you small boxes covered in secure foam. Your eyes widen as you open them. Each is a different minuscule computer part. "You recognize these."
"How could I not? These are upcoming designs. Not entirely complete, but once they are, they'll be gold standard. Maybe even more."
"Exactly. I did some rifling around in the offices, too. They'll be sold at an insane markup from the true estimated value once they're released to the public." Alban bites the inside of his cheek. "Most of the information and programming has been ripped off from programmers that either didn't consent or were severely underpaid."
"You're telling me. And the employees here will be earning pennies once it goes public."
He nods, serious as the grave. You've never seen him this dead-set on something but you recognize the blazing ambition in his eyes, and the curve over his mouth that forms when he's dedicated. He set his hand over the boxes you hold. "If you really want to return them, I won't stop you. I just want to do the right thing."
The packages aren't much bigger than jewelry boxes, and just as light, but holding them feels like handling priceless masterpieces. After all, they are.
"Why?" You ask.
"Because I trust you."
"Even after I spun you around like a piñata."
"It takes more than that to knock me out," Alban says. "Besides, even if you did, I wouldn't regret it. I think I'd endure a lifetime's worth of it if that's what it took for you to know how much I care."
You readjust your grip on the parts as Alban turns his head away again. "That sounded wrong. I mean, you work for them, not me. If this feels wrong, then you can call it off and I'll leave without anything."
He cares for me. You squeeze your lips together in deep thought. "You think so highly of me, even though I'm just a wreck that has a shitty 9 to 5 and mooches off your konbini food."
"Not a wreck," he corrects, voice tilted high in protest. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
"You're such a handful." You present the boxes out and away from you. "Put them back in your pockets. There's the camera outside that I pulled you away from, and a few others in each corner of this floor."
Dumbfounded, Alban gingerly takes them just as you start doodling on a piece of paper. "You're just giving them back to me?"
"What does it look like I'm doing? There's only so much time before any authorities show up." You wait until Alban secures the parts away before pressing the paper flush against his upside-down chest while you stand at eye-level with him. "Not my best blueprint, but you can figure out the best route to sneak out from with that map I just drew up."
Alban stays still in the air, but you let go of the map as it rests under the collar of his jacket. He fumbles for the paper, narrowly avoiding any stray hits to your body due to the proximity.
While he's occupied, your eyes have finally adjusted to the darkness as well as how close you are to him. He doesn't notice you staring at all, nor how his cheeks are a rosier tone than the rest of his skin.
He manages to nab the paper and holds it back over his heart, where you pressed it. When he makes eye contact with you, you see to his core; both the smarmy phantom thief that infiltrated your office, and the understanding, generous dork that works nights at the konbini.
Your hand brushes with his as you take the cloth of his jacket collar. "It didn't sound wrong at all." In the dark, he tenses, gloved hands clutching the paper tighter while that blush grows into a muted red.
You drum up the courage he's shown you time and time again as you lean in. The momentum fuels you as he reciprocates, paper forgotten as it flutters to the floor in favor of holding you tighter as his lips brush along yours.

You let go of Alban's collar, all lightheaded and woozy after a long-awaited kiss. It breaks off, but his arms are still tangled around your back in a loose hug. The dopey grin on his face is full of emotion; surprise, adoration, and a shred of greed like that wasn't enough for him.
"You need to get back to business," you say, breathless.
"Uh-huh?"
"And I should go before people think I went missing."
"Oh, duh. Yeah. Yeah, you should." Alban shakes his head to jostle him out of his stupor. He raises one limb after another as the cord retracts. "I'll be—ack!"
He flops face-down to the ground with a yelp. Then a groan.
You flinch. "Alban! Are you okay?"
"Ughhh."
Expecting the worst, you crouch down and hold his arm as he rises. "Ow, that hurt... No damage done, though."
"If you say so." You dust off his shoulders as he recovers. Sure enough, there aren't any scratches nor bruises immediately forming, and the concern turns into amusement as he presses his lips together. "Alban, your face is so red."
"Wh—no, it's not."
You pinch his cheeks. His brows are drawn together, all shy and flustered. "Oh, I can't wait to see what this looks like in daylight."
"It's just because I was hanging upside-down! Blood rushes to your head!"
"Yup, right after falling flat on your face."
He wiggles out of your grasp and up on his feet in no time. "You're teasing me and I won't stand for it. Bye!"
And with that, he bolts out of the room, grappling off the walls like a parkour artist until he becomes one with the darkness.
You watch him until he disappears, but you've got places to be, too. You rifle into your pocket where your phone and wallet rest.
That is, until you realize your wallet is nowhere to be found.
You frantically search your pockets until you realize the first one you checked, the one your wallet rested in, had a card inside that wasn't there before.
It's one of the generic business cards your company provides, likely lifted from another worker's office, but along the blank white cardstock, someone had drawn a cat paw alongside a note.
"You just got mugged by the robber! (But visit tonight to get it back.)"
There's a scrawl in the corner, scratched out to the point you can't tell what it was, but a few lines against the scribble makes you think the writer doodled something.
You'll have to ask him later.
"Tonight," you say out loud. It's been a long day, and like you said, you need to get back to the rest of the employees.
But after that, the workday is sure to be cut short as the higher-ups manage the police, and now you have plans.
And you could do without a 9 to 5 looming over you for a while.

2024 Lost & Found Trends:
Seeing Red: Lost an item and seeing red? Well, that should help, since the most popular color of lost items was red.
Keeping Cool with Crystals: Channeling your inner zen and manifesting more just got a little harder. Riders around the country lost a number of healing crystals, including purple Amethysts, green Aventurines and more.
Mini Cooper Movers: The top lost car keys were from Mini Cooper owners. They won’t be getting very far in their little cars!
What’s the WiFi: There was a significant number of wifi hotspots and mobile routers left behind this year. Is that why you dropped from the Zoom call?
Getting Sensical: It appears Uber riders are coming to their senses this year, or finding them rather. From dignity, to credibility and memory, riders reported emotional losses left behind.
Next Time, Take Your Board: Whether of sentimental value or brand spankin’ new, skateboarders forgot their #1 tool this year time and time again.
Most Forgetful Days/Times:
Remember 1/21: January 21st is the most forgetful day of the year, with the most lost items recorded.
Losing Hour: The most popular hours of the day lost items were reported were 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Not the ideal night time routine we see on TikTok, huh?
Lost Items That Peak On Certain Days:
People are most likely to forget luggage on Mondays.
People are most likely to forget headphones on Tuesdays.
People are most likely to forget wallets on Wednesdays.
People are most likely to forget jewelry on Thursdays.
People are most likely to forget phones on Fridays.
People are most likely to forget vapes on Saturdays.
People are most likely to forget clothing on Sundays.
If you’ve left something behind during a ride with Uber, look no further than this help page, which outlines the simple steps you can take to help you get a lost item returned to you.
The best way to retrieve a lost item is to call the driver – but if you leave your phone itself in an Uber, you can login
Open the Uber app and tap “Activity” on the bottom icon menu.
Select the trip on which you lost the item.
Scroll down to “Find lost item” in the Help section, and then “Contact driver about a lost item.”
Enter your phone number to call the driver.
If your driver picks up and confirms that your item has been found, coordinate a mutually convenient time and place to meet for its return to you.
If your driver doesn’t pick up, leave a detailed voicemail describing your item and the best way to contact you.

10 Multipurpose Family Room Ideas for Optimized Functionality
Tumblr media
The family room is the heart of any home, where loved ones come together to relax, bond, and enjoy quality time. To make the most of this central space, creating a multipurpose family room can optimize functionality and cater to the diverse needs of your household. Whether you have limited space or a spacious area, there are plenty of creative ways to design a family room that serves multiple functions.
Tumblr media
Flexible Seating Arrangements Flexible seating arrangements can easily adapt to your activities and be repurposed for different functions. Sectional sofas or modular seating can be rearranged for movie nights, game gatherings, or even as a cozy reading nook. Use ottomans or poufs that serve as extra seating or footrests. Invest in modular and flexible seating options that can easily adapt to different situations. Mix and match sofas, sectional pieces, and ottomans to create various seating configurations for lounging, entertaining, or hosting guests. Integrated Entertainment Center Create an integrated media center that accommodates both entertainment and productivity, such as a wall-mounted large TV, a gaming console, surround sound system and a work desk with a comfortable chair. This setup allows family members to watch movies, play games, and work or study in one central area. This will transform your family room into a cozy home theater for movie nights and gaming sessions. Multi-Functional Storage Solutions Maximize storage in your family room with multi-functional furniture and built-in storage solutions. Choose coffee tables with built-in shelves or drawers to keep remote controls, books, and board games organized. Install wall-mounted shelves to display decorative items and store personal belongings. Custom shelving, cabinets, and entertainment centers can neatly house books, toys, electronics, and other belongings, keeping the room organized and clutter-free.
Tumblr media
Kid-Friendly Play Area Designate a corner of the family room as a play zone for kids allowing children to play and learn within sight while you relax. You can separate the space using an area rug, add colourful toy storage bins, a soft play mat, and a small table and chairs for creative activities. This dedicated space allows children to play safely while still being part of family gatherings. Home Office  Integrate a home office nook in the family room. Install a floating desk along one wall or use a fold-out wall desk to save space, ergonomic chair, and ample storage to make it a functional workspace for remote work, studying, or managing household tasks. Add shelves or a bulletin board to keep work essentials and notes within reach. Reading Nook and Relaxation Corner Create a cozy reading and relaxation corner with a comfortable armchair, a chaise lounge or a window seat with soft cushions and throws. Add a side table and a floor lamp for good lighting, making it a perfect spot for unwinding with a book or enjoying a peaceful moment.
Tumblr media
Exercise and Yoga Area If your family enjoys fitness activities, add an exercise and yoga area in the family room. Roll out a yoga mat or place a stationary bike or treadmill in a designated corner to encourage daily workouts and physical well-being. It’s important to keep a regular exercise routine in between your busy day to stay active and fit without leaving the comfort of your home. Game and Puzzle Space Designate an area for board games, puzzles, and family activities. Install a large table with storage for games and puzzles, providing a fun and interactive space for bonding and leisurely evenings. This will encourage family bonding and friendly competitions, making the family room a hub of fun and shared experiences. Pet-Friendly Playroom If you have pets, create a pet-friendly nook in the family room. Add a cozy pet bed, a designated area for food and water bowls, and toy storage for your furry companions to enjoy family time together. Easy Ways to Put Vinyl Tarpaulin Sheets to Use
Clear vinyl tarps protect outdoor products from the outdoors and other possibly hazardous activities. Clear Tarpaulins are simple to use it and less expensive. These tarps are available in a number of sizes, so you can choose one that best meets your needs. These come in a variety of shades as well, but transparent tarps are preferable since the goods they cover may be clearly seen. Because PVC is chemical, rain, and mildew resistant, it is utilized to make transparent vinyl tarps. When not in use, these tarps may be folded up with the help of a strap attached to the top. It can also be used to split a large area into two halves. Transparent vinyl tarps offer significant advantages in terms of durability and additional strength. These are resistant to wear, corrosion, tear, and rust. These perform admirably in both hot and cold temperatures. You can see straight through the tarps even when it's pouring. If properly maintained, vinyl tarps may endure for a long time. Heat-sealed seams ensure a high level of quality. These multilayered tarps have outstanding rip resistance.
Because of their visibility, clear vinyl tarps are commonly utilized as windscreens in the nautical industry. They're also utilized as maritime textiles for divider curtains and marine coverings.
Awnings are made using them.
As salvage coverings, heavy-duty vinyl sheets are employed.
Tumblr media
Clear Tarpaulin is used to redirect roof leaks.
Because they are weather resistant, they may be utilized in an emergency.
Truck bed covers are the most common use.
For anti-scratch purposes, a PVC vinyl tarp is employed.
Your patio umbrella is beautiful. However, the fabric is beginning to fray. Instead of discarding the umbrella, you might replace or cover the old tarp on the frame with a treated vinyl tarp that is still in good shape.
Waterproof outdoor clothing can also be made with vinyl-laminated tarps. Make rain ponchos out of these tarps. Making your own lets you customize the length and keep the pant legs dry as well.
The winds will be blocked, allowing you to enjoy your covered patio or deck during the cooler months. Vinyl tarps are wind-resistant, UV-resistant, and water-resistant.
Polyester tarps that have been laminated or coated with vinyl make excellent pet rugs. These waterproof tarps may be trimmed down to form extra-large mats for your pet's water and food bowls if you have a messy eater or drinker. It comes in handy when it comes to protecting wood flooring.
To screen in your patio or deck, use a vinyl-coated mesh sheet. Spend time outside without being bothered by pests. The grommets make putting the tarp away for the winter a breeze.
When winter approaches, cover windows as well as patio doors on the outside with clear PVC covers to keep chilly drafts at bay. Rain and snow are also kept away from the wood trim by the waterproof coating.
Vinyl tarps are a durable and easy-to-clean shower liner. If privacy is a problem, pair these with a shower curtain.

TITLE: Deck the halls with a lot of tinsel
DATE
DEC 1ST, 2038
TIME
AM 10:33:00
Connor had never experienced Christmas, let alone celebrated it, nor any holiday besides Halloween. Since the Connor-series had begun, many Christmases had passed. For the first 30 or so Connors, these were spent in rigorous testing. Nothing festive about that.
If he’d still been a machine, he wouldn’t have given much thought to the month. But since deviating, every little ‘human’ thing interested him. Cooking, love and relationships, pets, displays of affection… So, when the date rolled around, he spent five minutes researching the traditions before walking into Hank’s room.
“I’m sleepin’.”
“It’s 10.35 in the morning, Hank.”
“Still sleeping.”
Connor folded his arms, tapping his foot impatiently. Sometimes it was difficult to get the Lieutenant out of bed. But he’d also been given permission to ‘drag his ass out of bed’ in order to help him get better.
“Perhaps you’d like to get up later, where I’ll cook you something for breakfast?”
The covers of the bed were thrown onto the floor within seconds.
“I’m up, I’m up. Jesus, you can’t keep threatening me with your shit cooking.”
“It won’t just be a threat one day.”
Hank groaned, scrubbing a hand over his face, and finally looking up at the android.
“What the fuck do you want?”
“Christmas.”
“Uh… how long was I asleep for?”
Connor rolled his eyes. Very funny. No, it’s still the first of December. Which I also realise is when some begin Christmas traditions. Now, I don’t know whether you celebrate, and if you celebrate another festival—which is fine! I’d like to celebrate whatever you celebrate.”
“Lot of words to listen to before I’ve had my coffee. Give me a minute.”
Connor nodded, stepping to the side to let Hank leave the room and freshen up. As soon as he left the bathroom, he trailed after the man into the kitchen and stood waiting. He tried not to let his impatient excitement show, but as he began his pre-programmed idle postures, flicking his coin from hand to hand, it was obvious.
“So, you wanted to know about Christmas?”
“Yes. Please.”
“Right. God, it’s a long time since I thought about that… Shit’s everywhere this time of year, I don’t think I’ve bothered with it in years.”
“Oh. I apologise, I—”
“Doesn’t mean I can’t try it now. I guess.” Hank sighed, stirring his spoon around his bowl, staring off somewhere into the distance. Then blinked, looked quickly back to Connor, and smiled. “Did you want to?”
“Yes. Yes, I mean, I only researched the holiday this morning, but I enjoyed reading of many of the traditions. Festive-themed decorations and movies and gift-giving, as well as the fact androids are starting to pick up different human festivals…” He took in a breath. “I do.”
“Alright. Well, there isn’t much to start with today. Some people do put up decorations on the 1 st , or on the first Sunday of the month. What do you want to—”
“Today! Today, please. If we have any. If not, I don’t mind going to the store.”
“No, I think I’ve got something at least stuffed in the garage. But let me eat my breakfast first in peace. And that means stop staring at me like that, it’s creepy as shit.”
“Sorry. I’ll… go and research other customs!”
“Go wild.”
Hank relished the five minutes of peace he got to finish his bran flakes. The next second, however, his ears were attacked with the blasting sound of Christmas music.
He called for Connor but regretted it when the sound got even louder as the android came into the room. Putting two and two together, he frowned.
“I hope that crap isn’t coming out of you.”
“That sounds very inappropriate, Hank.”
Hank flipped him off.
“But yes, if you mean the music, I managed to play it from my internal speakers! It’s very loud for me and I can barely hear you, but I do believe it’s incredibly festive!”
“Incredibly fucking annoying! Turn it down!”
“Oh, apologies. I set it to the volume level you play Knights of the Black Death on during car rides.”
“Don’t make me take back Christmas.”
He gasped. “You wouldn’t, Lieutenant! But I will promise to leave you in peace until you’re ready to help with decorations.”
As Connor walked away with a smile, Jingle Bell Rock blasting out of his speakers, Hank began to wonder what he’d got himself into.
TIME
PM 11:26:05
Hank walked out of his bedroom after getting changed and crashed straight into Connor.
“Personal space?”
“Sorry. I was just coming to check if you were ready yet.”
“Yeah, I’m ready now. Unless I forgot something…” He turned to move back into his bedroom with a snicker but stopped his joke when he saw Connor frown. “Alright, fine, I’m ready. Follow me.”
He led Connor into the garage, fumbling blindly round the corner for the light switch before finally finding it, clicking it on. The room flickered to life, not much to be desired with cobwebs strung about and dust coating every surface.
“Yeah, sorry about the mess. Don’t really go in here much, I don’t even park the car in here.”
“It is quite a large space. I could help you get it back in order.”
“No. I told you, no more feeling like you got to do everything for me. I’ll sort it out, eventually. Right now, you want the decorations…”
He walked to the right side, stared long and hard at the boxes, before gesturing to two at the stop.
“Ah, fuck, they’re all the way up there.”
“Please, let me.”
Hank shrugged, gesturing him forwards. He thought maybe Connor had some sort of technology to make him taller or propel him upwards, but instead…
Instead, Connor swiftly climbed up to the top, grabbed one box under each arm and
hopped back down.
“Jesus Christ. Have all androids got a fuckin’ parkour routine?”
“No. But since we have heightened dexterity…”
“Yeah. Well, maybe don’t go climbing up every shelf you see, but that did the job. Thanks.”
Connor smiled.
“Now, uh, bring them out with you, we can unpack them in the living room.”
He did so, dropping the boxes onto the living room table and staring expectantly at Hank.
“Have at them. But—”
It was too late for a warning. The box lid came off, and a cloud of dust choked the air.
Even Connor started coughing, LED complaining an angry yellow.
“Shit. Yeah, I really haven’t got these out in a long time… Guess we’ll have to do some cleaning after all.”
But Connor had already delved into the boxes, coming back out with strings of tinsel bunched up in his hands.
“This is amazing.”
“Yeah, it’s tinsel. You put it on stuff, whatever you want, really. Banisters, windowsills, your bedframe… Just don’t go overboard. At least in the sitting room.”
“Alright. I’ll keep that in mind.” Connor replied distractedly, already pulling more strings of tinsel out of the box.
Afterwards, once each item from the box was unpacked, Hank stood back and took it all in.
“I think we’re missing something. Oh—right, the tree. Well, what about we decorate the house first, and then get the tree out afterwards?”
Connor nodded, immediately speeding off to his own room with copious amounts of tinsel in his arms.
Hank was suspicious about this development but let him do what he wanted. After all, it was the kid’s first Christmas. As long as it didn’t offend his eyes all day long, he didn’t care.
Of course, curiosity did eventually get the better of him. About five minutes after Connor had left to decorate his room, Hank walked down the corridor to check on him.
“How’s it—”
He stopped mid-sentence. Connor was stood on his bed, attempting to string a piece of red and green tinsel over the picture above the bed. Taking in the rest of the room, all he could see was glittering strings of colour, golds and silvers, reds and greens, some pinks and blues mixed in too.
“Looks like a fuckin’ tinsel factory.”
Connor turned around, now showing to Hank the necklace he was wearing. Which was also a piece of tinsel.
“Thank you! I’ve decided, I like tinsel.”
“No shit.”
TIME
PM 12:47:45
Once the rest of the house was finally decorated (luckily not with much tinsel, seeing as though most of it was in Connor’s room), they were left with the final task of the tree.
Hank insisted he could help carry it, but Connor stubbornly refused, instead lifting the huge artificial tree from the garage to the living room.
“You know, you could have carried it in parts? You didn’t have to assemble it and then carry it all the way.”
“I know. But it’s more efficient this way.”
“Looked pretty heavy.”
“I’ve carried heavier.”
Hank scowled at him, picking up a red plastic bauble off the table and chucking it at the android. Immediately he ducked and it went over his head, clattering off into the distance. A moment later Sumo chased after it.
“I assume that isn’t how we decorate the tree.”
“No, I think it is. You put the decorations on the tree after throwing them at the kid who won’t stop playing Christmas music from his ass.”
“It’s not coming from my ass, Hank. Why would speakers be installed in my ass?”
“It’s funny.”
“It’s highly impractical.”
“Agree to disagree.”
Connor threw a bauble at Hank. It hit him square in the face.
“Good thing I bought plastic ones. They’re usually glass.”
“I don’t suppose glass baubles would have been very useful with Sumo around.” Connor commented as he picked up another decoration, finally putting this one on the tree.
“Nope. Tried it once. Ended up with a lot of broken shit and a guilty looking dog.”
“Poor Sumo.”
“What about me?”
Connor chuckled. “I’m sure you coped. But Sumo probably felt really bad.”
“Hah, as if. He probably thought it was funny.”
Somewhere behind them, Sumo grumbled, smacking the red bauble between his paws.
“See? He enjoys it.”
Connor shook his head, picking up a string of fairy lights and began to wrap them around the branches of the tree. Eventually, it was complete, some decorations perfectly placed and others more haphazard.
“Why’d you have to make yours look perfect?” Hank grumbled.
“Aw, thank you, Lieutenant!”
“Yeah, whatever.” He stepped backwards, looking at the tree before glancing back over the room, taking in the decorations and the soft hum of festive music jingling from Connor’s speakers. “Maybe this wasn’t such a bad idea after all.”

“Do you want me to bring you coffee, sir?” You asked him calmly. During an intense meeting like this, no one could approach him just to offer him a drink, except you.
“Yes, please. Oh, and this meeting will not be finished until we solve the problem. So, I want you to pick taehee up from her daycare.” He ordered.
“Yes, sir.” You bow politely to your boss before proceeding to leave the room. You sneak a glance at Johnny on your way out, cringing along with him as you cheer on him and the rest of the team with your body language.
You work in a game development company as the main secretary of the CEO, Lee Taeyong. The company stocks were expected to be increased by the end of the month. But someone decided to be a dick and spread some false rumors about one of the game made by the developing team. So the stockholders were complaining against the CEO and now he’s as angry as a hungry lion.
The sound of your heels clicking could be heard all over the hall. You walk at a fast pace in your pencil skirt to the parking lot. Mr. Lee never trusts his daughter to anyone except you, not even his personal driver. You don’t understand why you’re the only woman he could trust his daughter to, even though he has a girlfriend. You spend a lot of time with Lee Taehee, the true heir of your company, more than your family.
You smiled in satisfaction when you reach the luxury daycare. You lock your boss’ car as you walk into the huge lobby. You greeted the receptionist, smiling politely. “Hello, ms. Y/n. I’ll bring Lee Taehee for you.” The woman greeted you back before calling the teacher from the toddler’s class to bring Taehee.
A minute later, a joyful kid runs towards you. You smile and squat down to welcome her in a hug. “Our beautiful Taehee!” You greeted. “Hi, Y/n!” She inhaled your sweet scent before pulling away. “Where’s daddy?” She asked.
“Well, daddy’s got a meeting and he couldn’t pick you up. He said sorry though,” You explained.
You can feel your heart melted when she pouts, “Uh, did he told you to buy me ice cream though?”
You laughed as you took her arms and bow politely to the staff before walking her out to the car. “Of course, let’s go get ice cream!”
After helping her to put on the seat belts, you start the engine and goes to the little princess’ favorite ice cream parlor.
“Actually, daddy promised to take me and kkoma to the pet park. But I don’t think he’s available tonight.” The little girl pouts. You always feel sad for Taehee. With her dad always got drown in work, she plays alone most of the time. Taeyong never hires a nanny or a babysitter into the big penthouse because he could never trust any stranger to be in the house. You’ve been working for almost two years that he could finally trust his daughter to you.
“It’s okay. I can play with you. You’re gonna show me the book you bought last week, right?” You comforted her before you wipe some ice cream leftovers around her lips. Taehee’s eyes lit in happiness after knowing she’ll have someone to play with tonight. “Really? Yeah, let’s play with the new toys daddy bought me yesterday, too!”
Your phone rings continuously as you unlock the big penthouse in the middle of the frenetic Seoul city. You told Taehee to go into her bedroom while you answer the call. “Good evening, Mr. Lee. What can I help you?”
“You forgot to hand me the rest of the schedule. Well, what am I supposed to do tomorrow? No meetings, right?” He chuckled. You feel relieved when you heard his relaxed tone as an indication that he’s no longer angry like he has been since this morning. “Oh, yeah, I’m very sorry, sir. Well, you got no more team meetings tomorrow. You only need to meet some of our directorates and that’s all.”
You heard Taeyong groans over the phone, “Urgh, those old men again, huh?” You chuckled before you reply, “Actually, you missed a very very important schedule for tonight, boss.”
He furrowed his eyebrow upon hearing your words. “What- Oh shit. Yeah, my god, I’m a terrible dad. Yeah, please tell her I’m sorry and I promise I will take her tomorrow evening.”
You smiled before you reply with a nod, “Already did that.”
“And please be with her for tonight, I will stay in Jennie’s apartment. I need some kind of stress relief.” Taeyong said nonchalantly. You frown because you know he can’t see you. “Alright, good night, boss.”
You sigh, feeling terribly sad for Taehee. For you, Taeyong’s girlfriend is being really selfish. She never wants to stay at the penthouse because she can’t do chores or cook. She barely voluntarily spends any time with Taehee, and she bluntly told Taeyong that she doesn’t really like kids. You can’t believe that your boss chose that kind of girl to be his future second wife but then again, it’s none of your business.
“Y/n? Are you finished with the call? I’m shivering..” Taehee called from her bathroom. You mentally facepalmed yourself as you rushed into her bathroom. “I’m sorry! I’ll bring your squishy ducks!”
“Taehee, I’m staying with you tonight. Daddy said he won’t be able to go home tonight. He said he’s really sorry that he couldn’t take you and kkoma to the pet park and that he promised he will bring you tomorrow evening.”
Taehee sighs, “Another promise... It’s okay, as long as you’re here, I’ll be fine.” You feel a motherly happy feeling when she said that and something inside of you melted from the warmth feeling. “That’s my pretty girl. Come on, show me what daddy bought you yesterday.”
You open your eyes slowly at the ray of the morning sunshine. You look back at Taehee who’s still sleeping soundly in your arms. You gently untangled her hands away from you before pulling up the blanket to cover her more. You get out of bed to prepare breakfast until you stop in your track because of a picture on Taehee’s little study desk.
You recognize your boss’ writing under the picture: “Mommy.” You look longer at the picture, noticing how much resemblance this woman has with Taehee. “She has her nose and lips.” You mumbled. In a brief time, you remembered what Taehee told you about her mother.
“Daddy told me that mommy has gone to heaven. I never got to see her face, but this is the only picture I got from grandma. She said mommy died when she delivered me into this world. I don’t even know what that means.”
You glance back at the sleeping toddler, feeling sorry for her to not having a mom at such a young age. Your boss never tells you anything about his private life but spending a lot of time with his daughter makes you know everything because you know how little kids don’t lie, right?
You put the picture back on the study desk before leaving the bedroom to cook breakfast. You remember Taehee wanting to eat some soup yesterday so you decided to cook a chicken soup for her and also you. You were chopping some onions when you heard the door getting unlocked. You furrowed your eyebrow at how he got home early in the morning.
“Good morning, boss. Did you have breakfast?” You greeted him as he lets himself fall on the couch in the living room. “Hey, and nope. Give me a bowl of whatever of that thing you just cook, please.”
You simply nod even though you badly want to ask him why he didn’t have breakfast at her home but you know exactly what the answer is. “Why don’t you go to her room, sir? She’s still sleeping, I guess.” You suggested. Taeyong nods in agreement before walking wearily to his daughter’s room.
Taeyong crept into the cute kiddy room before jumping down on the bed to wake his little monster up. “Good morning, my princess. It’s time to wake up!” He coos as he cuddles into taehee’s little arms. “Hm,” Taehee groans cutely at his dad who bothers her in her sleep before opening her eyes slowly, “Hi, daddy.”
Taeyong showered the smaller one with kisses, smiling at how she reacts cutely to the kisses. “Where’s Y/n? Did she went home?” Taehee asked before wriggling out of her dad’s arms. “No, she’s cooking. Let’s bath you up before we have breakfast.”
You finished cooking the soup at the same time when your boss has his daughter in his arms, walking together to the kitchen with growling stomachs. “Wow, chicken soup! Thanks, Y/n! you’re the best!” Taehee claps her little hands when she saw the meals you put on her high chair. You nod happily as you see Taeyong digging his food already. “At this point, I may be applicable to be your housemaid, boss.” You smile teasingly. He laughs it off, “Don’t worry, I’ll raise your salary.” He smirked. Oh, that goddamn smirk, you thought.
“No, sir. I’m just joking.” You laugh along with him, before taehee speaks up nonchalantly. “I think, at this point, you may be applicable to be my mom.” She copied your word while chewing on the chicken innocently. You glance awkwardly at your boss who chocked on his soup. You bring him a glass of water before laughing awkwardly.
“Taehee, you can’t just say things like that to Y/n.” Taeyong scold his cute daughter gently. Taehee nods as she grins on you. “Excuse me, sir. I think I have to go home. I will meet you in your office.” You bowed politely to both your boss and the smaller boss. “Bye, taehee.” You wave her goodbye and she waved back. Gosh, that was so awkward.
Tumblr media
“Why can’t we just compensate them with free diamonds or a new special customized weapon? Why do we have to lose millions of stocks just because of some morons?” Taeyong groans with his hands folded in his chest.
His directorial advisor sighs, “No, we can’t just do that, Mr. Lee. The developing team may be able to do that by noon but our directorates will not tolerate that kind of compensation. It’s not fair to our in-app purchasers. And people will just spread more rumors for us to give them more free diamonds and weapons.”
You knocked before you enter the room with CEO Lee’s prepared meeting suits and his proposal papers.
“Excuse me, Mr. Lee. Our directorates are coming in ten minutes. We should be getting ready for your proposal.
Taeyong nods, thanking you mentally for saving him from the frustrating conversation.
You bowed to the middle-aged man before trailing behind your boss to the meeting room.
Being alone with your boss after the awkward conversation with his daughter this morning is killing you softly.
You distract yourself by organizing some papers and preparing drinks on the table. You feel a pair of eyes on you as you pass around the room.
Taeyong cleared his throat before speaking up to you, “Uhm, I remembered you didn’t have breakfast with us earlier, have you eat?” He asked.
You glance at him awkwardly, “Y-yeah, I.. have, thank you for worrying.”
“You don’t have to be all formal and polite to me you know. We’re almost at the same age.”
You smile, “It’s alright, Mr. Lee. You are my boss and this is office hours, also I’m two years younger than you, so this should be my preferable manner to you, sir.”
“Well, that’s understandable. Uh, and about our conversation this morning. You didn’t wholeheartedly take her words, right?” He asked.
Ah, those awkward goosebumps are coming back.
“Of course, no, Mr. Lee.” You fake a smile.
“Good, then, I don’t want you to be uncomfortable around Taehee and I. Afterall, you spend a lot of time with her more than Jennie and I did these past few years.”
You only nod, not wanting to continue the conversation.
You thanked the directorates for coming in a great timing just so you can immediately leave the room. You walked wearily towards your table beside Johnny’s before leaning your head onto the table.
“What’s with the frown, Miss Secretary?” Johnny glance at your table beside him with a teasing smirk.
“Shut up, John. You don’t know what I’ve been through.”
“Tell me, maybe this wise oppa can give you the right answer for every question you have.”
You rolled your eyes before turning into him, “Taehee literally just asked me to be her mom this morning.”
Johnny didn’t show any expected reaction, which makes you furrowed your eyebrow.
“Aren’t you her mom already? You practically live at his penthouse more than his girlfriend does.”
You hit his arms playfully before protesting, “Shut your mouth! You and the developing team are the only people who knew I helped Mr. Lee’s daughter, okay? Don’t be a big mouth..”
Johnny laughs quietly, “Yes, ma’am.”
You keep thinking about Johnny’s words earlier. Every staff in the daycare know how you act motherly towards taehee. Some of her friends’ mom even called you taehee’s mom before you clarified that you’re only her dad’s assistant.
You remember bringing Taehee to your family’s Thanksgiving dinner because Taeyong decided to go to a romantic dinner with his glorious girlfriend instead of spending time with his daughter. Your family loves Taehee, even allowed Taehee to call them family names. You remember Taehee being very happy that night, “this year’s thanksgiving is better than any thanksgiving year with my grandpops and dad.”
Your concern is, does taehee really think of you as her mother, just because you spend time with her more than her future mother did? You don’t exactly think so, but the situation tells you otherwise.
Your thoughts were interrupted by your alarm, reminding you about the meeting. You immediately move from the snack bar, and leave to assist your boss after the meeting.
“How’s the meeting, boss? Did it went well?” You greeted.
He smiled in satisfaction before nodding at you, “Yeah, I managed to convince them about the compensation. We made a great deal. Well, I don’t have any working schedule left, right? Let’s take taehee and kkoma to the pet park.” He suggested cheerfully.
You smile along with him, feeling glad that everything went well. “Alright, sir. I’ll have Mr. Han ready with the car. Have fun, sir.” You bowed politely.
He stopped in his track before he turns back to you, “No, you’re coming with us.”
Your jaw drops. Is he seriously asking you to go with him and his daughter, on a private trip? “Why am I coming with you, Mr. Lee? Perhaps, Miss Kim is not available?” You asked.
“I haven’t asked her yet. I just thought that Taehee would be happy if you tag along.” He explained with a smile. “Well, if you have another plan for today, it’s okay.”
You nod immediately. “No, I’m completely free, Mr. Lee.”
“Aye, you can drop the formalities. It’s past office hours. You can be comfortable around me and Taehee. Just call me Taeyong.”
Tumblr media
“Taehee!” You greeted Taehee as she ran to hug you. So, Taeyong and you decided to pick Taehee up from the daycare before getting kkoma the poodle in the penthouse. She looks at her dad with sparkly eyes, “Is she coming with us?” She asked excitedly. Taeyong nods, smiling at his daughter who seems to like being with his assistant more than him. “Thank you, daddy!” She pulls away from you to hug her daddy’s legs. Taeyong smiled even wilder, before lifting his daughter to give her kisses.
“Now, it’s time for you to get in the car and put the seat belts on.”
You watch as Taeyong puts his daughter on the car seat. You get on the passenger seat in front, putting your own seat belts, listening to the father and daughter playing around.
“Alright, let’s go!”
Fifteen minutes later in the parking lot, Taeyong and you are debating about who’s going up to get kkoma. You insisted to go up so Taehee declared that you win the debate and the three of you laughed.
“I’ll be back with kkoma.” You smiled before closing the car door.
“Bye, Y/n!” Taehee waved at you.
You went to the penthouse, walking towards the only front door on that floor, before stopping upon seeing someone standing in front of the door.
You immediately bow, “Good afternoon, Miss Kim.”
Jennie looks at you with a furrowed eyebrow, “What are you doing here? Where’s your boss? Why are you alone?”
You felt sweaty before trying to explain calmly. “I’m here to get kkoma. Mr. Lee and his daughter are going to the pet park.”
She tilts her head, seems to be astonished by your explanation. “Don’t go in. I’ll get the dog instead.” You bowed politely before she unlocked the door and walk into the house. “Urgh, why didn’t he tell me.” She mumbled.
You were about to leave when you remember that you left your things in the car, and his girlfriend probably doesn’t know where the car is parked. So, you wait until Jennie comes out with kkoma. You noticed that she only brought the dog without the leash.
“Uh, Miss Kim? I’m sorry but you forgot the leash.”
Her jaw drop cockily. “Are you seriously telling me to get a dog’s leash?”
You stutter, “I’m sorry, Miss Kim, but you told me not to go into the house.”
She rolled her eyes in a sassy manner, before walking back into the house, groaning angrily. You bit your lip, trying not to laugh at the situation.
You walk behind your boss’ girlfriend. You were about to lead her to the car but she stopped walking. “You can leave now, I’ll call him.”
You bowed before explaining that you left your things in the car.
She glares at you, “What? Did you come here with him? No way, did you also go to the daycare with him?”
You only nod, not wanting to explain more. She just groans and leaves you in front of the elevator.
Taeyong saw you from an angle and he felt somehow relieved after worrying about what possibly took you so long until he saw his girlfriend. He lifted his eyebrow before getting out of the car to greet his girfriend.
“Jennie, what are you doing here? Why are you holding kkoma?” He asked, glancing at you with a disoriented look. You just bit your lip awkwardly.
“Why didn’t you tell me that you have a date with your daughter? Did you possibly think I wouldn’t want to join? Of course, I would. Why did you bring her? It’s past office hours.” She ranted.
“I’m sorry, okay. Let’s just go. Taehee’s very excited if she comes along.”
Jennie gets in the car immediately, greeting Taehee with a made-up smile and an awkward sentence of, “Hi, did you eat?”
Taeyong looks at you, “Aren’t you going with us?”
“Ah, I’m sorry, Mr. Lee. I think I can’t join you to the pet park. Let me get my things in the back seat.”
Taeyong was about to speak when Taehee opened the window and scream out. “No! Y/n, you said you’re going with us!”
You cringed at how the situation become before glancing at Jennie who’s signaling you to leave immediately.
“Taehee, Y/n said she got something important came up and-”
“No! If Y/n is not coming, then let’s not go. Daddy, this is not what I want!”
Taeyong sighed heavily before opening the back seat door beside his daughter. “Let’s go, Y/n. I know you leave far from here and you didn’t bring your car. Just go with us, I’ll drive you home after we leave the pet park.”
You can’t disobey your boss and after looking at Taehee’s pleading eyes, you decided that you can’t win over the boss’ daughter. You get in the car as Taehee immediately hugs your hand, feeling glad that you finally agreed to join.
Jennie glares at her boyfriend angrily. Taeyong mouths, “What? This is my daughter’s day, not ours.”
You let Taehee out of her car seat and let her play with Jennie and kkoma. Taeyong walks with you behind them, as he smiles in satisfaction upon seeing two of his favorite people get along well. “I’m happy Jennie could play with Taehee like that. I think, going to the pet park today is the best decision I have ever made.”
You agree to what he said, but there’s a part inside of you that feels a little bit heavy upon seeing the strange pair hanging out together. You only smile as you watch Taehee running around chasing kkoma in the field. Jennie gives up running. Well, she’s wearing a 10 cm heels, of course, she can’t run freely like the little toddler.
Taeyong approaches his girlfriend, starting to talk to her and laughing around instead of playing with his daughter. You keep on watching the little girl running around until you heard her crying loudly.
“Taehee!” You scream as you run towards Taehee who just fell into the ground.
Jennie and Taeyong quickly take a look at the screams, and soon Jennie was left with nothing but kkoma’s leash and a groan.
“Hey, it’s okay. You’re gonna be okay, Taehee.” You look at Taehee’s injured knee and you sighed. You managed a smile and told her to only look at you, not the wound. Fortunately, she’s being a good girl.
“Taehee! Daddy’s here. It’s okay, baby girl.”
Taehee was about to cry at the sight of her dad, but as soon as kkoma sit beside her and sympathetically stay in her side, she becomes calm and her sobbing starts to stop.
“Mr. Lee, can you get me the aid kit in your car?” You asked calmly. He nodded and immediately runs off to his car. You glance at Jennie who’s only looking with her phone in her hand, probably not knowing what to do.
A minute later, she tried to walk across to you and Taehee, looking like a tired marathon player when she was only walking.
“I’m sorry but I can’t squat down, I’m wearing a skirt.” She said cockily, which makes you want to puke on the spot.
I’m also wearing a skirt, duh. You thought.
Another minute has passed, and Taehee stops crying and starts to play with kkoma beside her, you tried to cover the wound with your hand, as you saw Taeyong walking closer with the aid kit.
“There you go.” Taeyong watches as you treat his daughter’s wound, feeling embarrassed with his girlfriend only watching and fanning herself.
“Let’s go. We need to talk.” He drags his girlfriend to a spot where no one could see them.
“What are you doing? Did you seriously just stand there, wearing a shade, while my daughter is injured?”
Jennie’s jaw drops, “I’m wearing a skirt, Taeyong! I can’t squat down, are you looking down on me now? Oh, you think I don’t care about your daughter, huh?”
“I was not thinking about that but now I’m kind of convinced that you actually don’t,” He paused, before sighing in disappointment. “really care about my daughter.”
Jennie blinked before reaching out for his hand, asking for forgiveness. “I’m sorry, Taeyong. I just.. I just didn’t know what to do. It’s not like I don’t care about Taehee, really.”
“If you love me, you should have known what to do when one of my favorite people, my child, is injured. You should’ve known that Taehee is important to me, Jen.”
Taeyong decided to bring Jennie home by ordering a taxi for her. He knows that she’s probably not going to talk to him for a few days but he’s trying not to care.
He sighed heavily before going back to the field where you treated taehee’s wound. He smiled softly when he saw you and his daughter laughing together, amazed at how capable you are to make his daughter stop crying.
“Hey, baby!” He carries his daughter and lifts her up, playing with her as he loves to hear her giggles.
You smiled upon the view of the daddy and daughter moment, until you notice the absence of his girlfriend. “Mr. Lee, may I ask but where’s Miss Kim?”
He turns at you after giving his daughter a kiss, “Well, She went home. She’s not used to outdoor activities like this. I’m sorry that she didn’t know what to help earlier. Also, like what I said earlier, please drop the formalities when we’re outside the office like this.” You only nod at him, smiling politely at him.
“Daddy, I’m hungry!” Taehee shouts while rubbing her tummy cutely. “Alright! What do you want to eat, baby?”
So you ended up at an Italian restaurant with the father and daughter. Since Taehee wants to eat pasta, you ordered a creamy fusilli carbonara for her, while Taeyong ordered some dishes for you and him.
“Since we’re eating informally like this, can I ask something that I’ve been curious about?”
“Yeah, go ahead.”
“So, you said you can’t trust your daughter with anyone in her daily life, when you actually could send her to your parents. Why wouldn’t you do that?” You asked him carefully.
He sighs while looking at Taehee who’s playing with the napkin on the table. “I did. There was one time when I sent Taehee to my parents, but as a matter of fact, I’m not that close to my parents and my brothers. I was taught about business since I was in elementary school, so I always have this little thought that there isn’t any real love in my house except from my mother. My brothers’ thirst for money and power disgust me as much as I hate living in my own house.”
You look into his eyes deeply, feeling moved that he’s voluntarily opening up to you. “Too much information, right? Well, the point is I don’t find it comfortable to put my daughter in my parents’ house because she will be lonely there. Besides, my parents didn’t fancy my late wife. We were together without my parents’ permission so it was difficult for me and her until we had Taehee.”
You nod understandingly, feeling so warm inside. “It must be hard for you, Taeyong. It’s a good thing that you endured all of the hard times for Taehee, and now, as you can see, she grew up as a happy kid.”
Taeyong stutters, glancing at how your hand unconsciously reaches for his hand. “Y/n...” You looked at your hand on his, before your eyes widen in embarrassment. You immediately brush your hand away from his. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to...”
He smiled softly, “It’s alright. Thank you for understanding my situation. A lot of my friends say that I’m not being a good father for not spending lot of times with my daughter, but they don’t understand how hard it is to manage a company and taking care of a toddler at the same time, cause they have a wife.”
“Of course, they wouldn’t know. Well, I’ll always be available for Taehee. She’s a sweet baby, I love being near her. I’m always ready whenever you need my help.”
Taeyong never sees someone this dedicated to his daughter except you. He stares in amusement when he saw you feed his daughter delicately. He also noticed how much Taehee feels comfortable around you. This is why he trusted you so much with his daughter. But one thing that bothers his insides like butterflies are flying inside his stomach is your motherly feelings towards Taehee, the one he couldn’t find in anyone besides his late wife, especially Jennie. He finds it odd.
After the pet park ‘date’ with your boss, everything went back to normal, except your relationship with Taeyong. He kept wanting you to be very comfortable around him past office hours. He finds you as a friend, and a literal mom for Taehee. You picked her up from the daycare, it becomes your new routine. Sometimes, when Taeyong has to stay up in the office, you’d bring Taehee to your house and let her play with your twin nephews. Taehee really adores you, and his father weren’t so oblivious about that.
“Hey, Taehee said she wants to visit your nephews tonight, is that possible?” Taeyong asked with a visible pair of eye bags under his eyes. He looks so tired and uneven.
“Yeah, sure. Don’t worry, I’ll pick her up.” You smiled at him. “Mr. Lee, are you alright? You look tired...”
He gives you a soft smile as he replies, “Well, just a few problems with the diva. You know that. By the way, I won’t be able to come home tonight so can she stays in your place tonight? I’m so sorry...”
You nod, “That’s nothing to apologize for.”
His face lit up in delight upon seeing you agreed to help. “Alright, since I’ll be away for a moment, you can’t use my car. I’ll have Jaehyun to drive you and Taehee around, alright?”
So, you ended up waiting for Mr. Jung in front of the office lobby. You were replying to a message from your aunt when a beep from an expensive car chimes in front of you. “Hey, Y/n.”
You smile and bow to Mr. Jung. He’s a childhood friend of Taeyong, and he’s the closest uncle Taehee has among all of her father’s friends. “Good afternoon, Mr. Jung. Thank you for picking me up.”
“Aye, drop the formalities and just get in.”
Tumblr media
“Y/n! I miss you already!” You open your arms widely as the little princess runs towards you.
“Be careful, honey, or you’ll fall.” You uttered gently.
Jaehyun smiles softly behind the both of you as he plays with his car keys, examining you and his friend’s daughter. Jennie could never, he thought.
“Hey, is that uncle Jae?” She lets go of the hug and goes towards the cheeky man. “Yeah, he came with me to pick you up. Say hello to him, please?” Taehee only sighed before waving to Jaehyun weakly, clearly missing his dad more. “Where’s daddy?” She asked while pouting.
Jaehyun scoffs, “Hey, why aren’t you excited to meet me? Aren’t I the coolest uncle you have in the city?” Taehee shakes her head lightly, her head hurts upon seeing the overconfident man. “Let’s go, Y/n. I’m hungry.” She takes your hand and drags you softly to the car, knowing which car to go to for its eccentric color. “Hey, wait for me! Ugh, she really takes after her dad.”
You spoon the rice and pull a nice trick into feeding little Taehee. After five spoons and she nearly finishes her meal, Jaehyun wants to try to do a trick while feeding her. “Let me try,” he said. You nod and give the meal to him, while Taehee focused on her iPad. “Hey, taehee.. look at me. Here goes the airplane~”
The spoon ended up in front of her mouth, but Taehee keeps an unamused face as she eats the food. “What was that, uncle Jae? You’re so lame,” she shakes her head as she continues to focus on her videos. You hold your laugh, but people around the three of you laugh at the silly scene. Jaehyun covered his face in embarrassment, before whining to Taehee playfully. “Oh, taehee, can you at least work with me? Pretty pwease~” Taehee can’t help but leaves her iPad and laughs along with you. “Uncle Jae is so funny, and ugly hahaha,” she clapped happily while chewing on the meat.
Night comes, and you stay in Taeyong’s apartment again since he said he’s going to come home late and you haven’t cleaned up your apartment so you didn’t bring Taehee to your place. After putting her to sleep, you sit quietly on the couch with a snack you bought earlier to keep you up while waiting for your boss to come home. Thirty minutes later, you found yourself flinching at the sound of the door opened by the owner of the penthouse. You quickly tidy up the room and stand up to greet him, but when you do, you were met by a pair of lethargic eyes. “Mr. Lee..” you went up to him before helping him to walk properly.
Jaehyun groans behind him. “It is so tiring to bring him up here, even though they got a rich and pretentious ass elevator here. Today is the most tiring day of my life, and now I still gotta drive you home.” He complained. “Mr. Jung, you might want to rest a little bit. I’ll help Mr. Lee to change and stuff.” You said to him while assisting your boss to his bedroom. After helping him changing his shirt, you walked out of the room for him to change the rest of his clothes.
“Today is rougher for him, he... uh.. he caught his girlfriend cheating on him with his close business partner. I was lucky enough to catch him quickly earlier before he drinks his ninth bottle for the night. He’s a mess right now.” Jaehyun explained.
You sighed, “That’s so horrible. I don’t think I should leave him alone with Taehee. I’ll stay to make him some hangover soup tomorrow. Thank you for taking care of him, please have a good rest.” Jaehyun nodded before leaving the penthouse, sighing in relief that he finally gets to rest at home.
You knocked on his door, “Mr. Lee? Are you ready to sleep? I’ll help you clean your face.” There is no answer from him, so you decided to come in. Taeyong sits on the edge of his bed, his upper half body leaning on his hands, covering his face while small sobs could be heard. You gulped before approaching him. You say nothing but instead, sitting beside him and pulling him into your body, hugging him tightly. “I gave her everything, whatever she wanted, and she chose that bastard,” Taeyong mumbled and you only listen. “I accepted her even though she didn’t get along well with my daughter, but... that was.. man, that was terrible. This hurts more than when I lost taehee’s mom.” He sobs and you, once again, only listen.
“Y/n... can you take care of me tonight?” He asked before pulling away from your arms. You blink in confusion, “How can I do so?” you asked while stuttering. He says nothing but leans down to you, putting his lips on you gently. You close your eyes and reply to the kiss, enjoying the moment he savor you with his tongue. Taeyong’s drunken limb starts to roam around your body, and he found his hand near the hem of your shirt, before pulling away to catch a breath. “Can I?” He asked while panting. You only nodded, before letting him raise your shirt gently as he gives wet kisses around your neck, and you only moan softly.
Later on, you found yourself asleep next to him, hands and legs tangled up with each other. You smiled at the sight of your naked bodies pressed against each other, before falling asleep hearing the sound of his soft breath.
The next morning, you woke up at the sound of your alarm ringing and you know right away that it’s already six in the morning. You try to untangle your arms but the man you called boss won’t let you go. “Mr. Lee, I have to wake up,” you mumble softly. He only groans, “Urgh, five more minutes. My head hurts.” You smiled and put your free hand on his head, running your hand through his hair. “That’s why I need to wake up first, I’ll cook some hangover soup.”
A minute later, he let go of you with kisses and you only giggle to his touch. Taeyong pulls the blanket to cover himself more as he gets some more sleep as you wear his shirt and leave to the kitchen.
After cooking the breakfast with love, you went to Taehee’s room to wake her up, and to your surprise, she was already awake. You greeted her with a tight hug, before carrying her up to give her drink. “Y/n, you smell like daddy.” She mumbled. You chuckled awkwardly before putting her on her high chair, “Really? Maybe it’s because daddy lent me his blanket last night.”
To your surprise, Taehee sighed in relief while putting her hand on her chest cutely, “Finally daddy treat you right, I’m always upset whenever he let you sleep in my room. You know how small my bed is and he only gets to sleep on that big bed alone. But now I’m happy that you get to sleep on that big bed too!” You laughed wholeheartedly at her cute remarks while at the same time feeling relieved that she didn’t find it weird that you’re sleeping with her dad. “Oh, he lent you his shirt as well!”
After the little princess finished the breakfast, you let her take a shower by herself since she insisted that she’s now able to clean herself. By that, you also have time to wash the dishes while you wait for her. You were busy humming like a chirping bird while cleaning the dirty dishes when you felt hands surrounding your waist.
Taeyong leaned his head on your shoulder, before kissing your shoulder blades gently.
“You look good on my shirt.” He mumbled against your skin and you can feel heat surrounding your body. “But you definitely look good without any shirt on.”
You blink in nervousness, “I thought you wouldn’t remember yesterday’s event, since you were heavily drunk.” You feel him shaking his head, “Of course I would, the moment I got to taste your beautiful lips, that was when I sobered up.”
You blushed madly, at the thought of him fully sober when he did things to you last night. “The soup’s on the table, have it before it’s cold.” You stuttered. “No, I prefer you for breakfast.” Taeyong continues to tease you while caressing his thumb against your waist, until a loud cute voice comes from the sub room bathroom, indicating that the little princess has just finished her bath and needs her bathrobe soon.
You let go of Taeyong with a giggle, caressing his cheeks softly, “Your daughter needs me more than you do. Now finish your soup so your head will stop ringing.” He smiled and nodded at you.
“It’s weekend! What should we do today?” You asked taehee as you dry her hair with a towel. “Hm, what about coloring? And also, let’s have watermelon before lunch since it’s summer.” You nod, “such a perfect plan! I’ll inform your dad right away.”
So, you stayed another day in his house, but one thing, he hasn’t made it official yet. You convinced yourself not to expect anything from him but his affection to you convinced you otherwise. But time passes and Taeyong treats you the way he does to you that particular night. He remains professional during office hours but when you stayed at the penthouse for Taehee, he’d get super affectionate with you.
Taeyong hasn’t heard about Jennie nor he wanted to look for her. He let himself forget about her and relies on you, his lovely secretary, instead. He took you on several dates, but he hasn’t confirmed the real thing yet. You wait patiently for the right time he would confess to you, but reality slaps you so hard for you to wake up.
Today, which is Friday, you took a day off to help your family move, and Taeyong gladly let you go with a careful hug, avoiding being caught by the workers. Until you received a call from Jaehyun informing you that Taehee got injured while running around with her friends. It went so bad that she got a cast wrapped around her little arm.
You drove as soon as possible to the hospital, with flowers and a cute teddy bear in your arms, you run towards the room Jaehyun told you. You smiled as soon as you spotted Jaehyun in the hallway, greeting him in a hurry. “Where is she? I brought her-”
Jaehyun cuts you off, “Uh, Y/n. I don’t think you should come in right now, I think they’re busy.” He stuttered so much that you find it suspicious when he covers the door with his body. “What happen?” You asked. Jaehyun blinked before he sighed, “No, Y/n, I think you deserve to know.” He caress your shoulder gently before walking away from the door.
That was when you felt thunder wakes you up loudly, as the clear image of your boss and his ex-girlfriend leans against each other in front of the sleeping toddler, lips brushed against each other. You dropped the flowers and the plushie bear, tears dropping heavily down your cheeks.
“Y/n... are you.. are you alright?” Jaehyun asked you before putting your head up to him, distracting your stormy mind. “No, I... I, have to go.” You leave him and the things you brought for taehee as you run out wiping your tears harshly.
How can you be proud that he touched you so many times you thought he loved you or something. Reality hurts, and now you’re awakened with false hope. You weren’t disappointed with him, but you. How can you dream about being together with him, when in reality he was far away from you to reach him. He only has her in his mind, since she was the one suitable enough to match his class. You downgraded yourself to the point of your big decision today.
Monday comes, and you determined yourself to come to work, and to submit the resignation paper yourself to him. You couldn’t let personal feelings go through your work, so you decided to quit this job and find another one that’ll be easier for you to forget him. The only one who knew about it was Johnny. He tried to make you think about it twice but in the end, he respected your determined decision.
“Good morning, Mr. Lee, do you want to have some coffee?” You greet him formally, leaving him uptight about the awkward tension. “Oh, no, I’m okay. Please do continue your work. Oh, and Y/n, are you okay? You look unusually under the weather.” He asked. “I’m okay, thanks for asking. By the way, Mr. Lee, I’m here to submit a paper.”
He narrowed his eyes, “What paper?” You slowly put the white envelope on his table. “What is this?” His voice changed into a stern one, as he takes the envelope with doubt. “My resignation letter. Please put your signature under the stated letter, so I could apply for another-”
“Wait, no, are you gonna quit? I mean, why?”
“-job at the end of the month.” You finished your words without letting him cutting in.
“Why? Why are you quitting? Your work has been perfect and you never make a mistake, why in the world should you quit?” He is now standing up while putting his fist on the table.
“I made a mistake, and it’s a big fatal mistake.” You uttered. “What? What did you do? Tell me and we can work it out.”
“I made a big mistake by putting my heart and expectations on my own employer without realizing that it would damage my work value and now I will be no longer able to work properly under this company without having my own personal feelings intervene my work so... I chose to quit, and please respect my decision, Mr. Lee.” You try so hard to hold your tears not to come out but you have limits so, you decided to bow and leave the room quietly.
“Y/n, you’re okay-” Johnny passes by but you have no intentions to stop walking so you leave him behind and go forward to the nearest toilet. Now I have 2 weeks to work under his presence, so I gotta withstand everything, you thought.
Tumblr media
“No, mom. I will not stay in the company. Besides, it’s a chance for me to try out new things out there. And if I can’t get a new career, I’ve got enough experience and value to apply as a secretary.” You explained to your mother.
“I know you can’t work under his company anymore, but what about his daughter? What about that child, huh?” Your mother’s words hit different, and now you fall into a deep silence. “Mom, I’m sure he can take care of her by himself and that she won’t be needing me that much. Besides, him choosing her shows that he didn’t actually need me to babysit his daughter.”
“Since when do you become this selfish? Are you even my daughter? You said you were the only one she knew and trusted, not even his rich and pretty girlfriend.” Your mother retorted back, and you just groaned in annoyance. “Did you just call her pretty?”
“Did you just roll your eyes on me?” She flicked your head with one hand while the other hand stays kneading the dough. “I’m sorry,” you apologized.
“I’m just telling you that Taehee has become my grandchild too, just like the twins, and the thought of her being lonely like she used to be is terrifying for me. I’m sure despite the pain you felt for her father, you’re feeling the same too. Are you sure to leave her alone as if you never knew her?”
You sighed, I don’t know what to do with that, mom.
And that is true, even though you continue working for the rest of your work hours before your resignation without Taeyong asking you to take care of his daughter, you still think about her. You think of how she might need you since her little hand was cast but there’s nothing you could do about it.
Jaehyun still communicates with you about her condition without her father knowing, so you feel grateful that at least you’d know what’s up with her.
On the day before your farewell, Taeyong got himself wasted on the bar, as much as Jaehyun could reminisce to the day when his best friend was wasted over a breakup. He only sighed upon seeing his drunk friend before paying the bills for him.
“I don’t know a well human being like you could be this wasted, of course, after knowing that spoiled little bitch.” Jaehyun muttered. Taeyong turns to look at him, “you called her what?” He mumbled.
“Yeah, Jennie, the spoiled little bitch, who cheated on you with your best partner.”
“Don’t call my girlfriend that unless you want a punch from me.” Taeyong balled his hand into a fist until his knuckles turn white. “Try to punch me with that weak ass punch, you idiot. Please reflect on what you’ve done.”
Jaehyun holds himself not to order a liquor since he’ll be driving his best friend back to his penthouse, and he praised himself for being a perfect bestie. “Dude, do you even know why Y/n quit her job?”
“No, I don’t understand why she would be that stupid to quit after I paid her million dollars every month.”
Jaehyun closed his eyes, trying hard not to punch his best friend into oblivion, “What an idiot, you slept with her, several times. Took her on a date and make her live with high expectations around you, and in the end, you chose that bitch who cheated on you? I can’t believe you didn’t consider yourself as a jerk by now.”
Taeyong sighed under the influence of alcohol, “Everyone makes mistake, and deserve a second chance. She promised me to get better, and who I am to reject her, a god?”
“I know you’re trying to be saint about it, but don’t let it makes you blind. For this time, please think of your daughter, and consider who has been next to you, and would she break her promise again? You have a lot of things to make sure, bud.”
After bringing Taeyong home, Jaehyun drove again to the hospital, where he asked his girlfriend, Chaeyoung, to stay with the poor little toddler. As soon as he opened the door, a crying baby and a frowning face of his girlfriend was the first thing he saw. “She won’t fall asleep,” she complained.
“Is she still looking for Y/n?” Jaehyun asked and Chaeyoung only nodded.
You rushed towards the hospital as soon as he called you desperately, looking for help. And it mesmerized both him and Chaeyoung that you managed to get her to sleep in only ten minutes.
After jaehyun and his girlfriend left, you caressed taehee’s back gently before you fall asleep next to her. You made sure to text your mom to bring taehee breakfast tomorrow so she’ll get to eat as much as possible.
The next day, you were awakened by the sounds of Taehee crying, and the first thing you saw was Taeyong with his angry-looking girlfriend. “No, just go daddy! I don’t need you! I have Y/n over here and I don’t wanna be with aunt Jennie!” She whines and you only shushed her with soothing words, and she managed to stop.
“Alright, we’re leaving. Y/n, uh... I’m sorry for keeping you busy with her.” Taeyong scratched the nape of his head before leaving with the girl.
After the pair leave, you managed to calm the wailing toddler down, and luckily she was fast enough to stop crying. “Taehee, why wouldn’t you want to be with aunt Jennie?” You asked carefully, while caressing your hand gently on her head as she cuddles into your side. “I don’t like her. She takes daddy from me, and daddy doesn’t care about it either. My arm is hurting every night, but daddy is busy working or playing with aunt Jennie, I hate it.” Taehee pauses as she sniffs, “Maybe daddy hates me.”
You let out a heavy sigh of your mouth as you get a little bit too emotional about the little poor girl. “No, Taehee, daddy loves you so much, but sometimes, he just doesn’t know how to show it.” You wipe her tears gently and make her look up to you. “He really loves you, he prepared a lot of things for your future. And as much as you need his love, daddy needs it too. Daddy needs aunt Jennie as much as you need him. You’re a good baby, Taehee. You’ve been supporting your daddy and he only needs to know that.”
“Does he look happier when he’s with her?” You were tongue-tied when she gives you the sharp but sad question. You don’t know the answer, because to be honest, you’ve been thinking of the same thing too. “I think he’s happier with me, and with you! He’s so happy when the three of us are together. Y/n, why won’t you be my mom?”
You blinked, startled by her sudden request. “Taehee, I am only being a helper-“
She starts to cry again, “Do you hate me too? Do you not want to be with me?” You quickly make her stop by rejecting her remarks. “No, Taehee, I want to be with you. We spent a lot of time together. I love you, baby, and you should never doubt that. Now enough talking about adult stuff, your arm will hurt more if we keep stressing about it. How about watching paw patrols while waiting for my mom to come here with your breakfast?”
Her eyes immediately lit up in delight upon hearing that her ‘grandmother’ will come with food. “Grandma cooked for me?! Yaay! Finally... urgh, The food here sucks.”
“Wait, I think I left my wallet on the sofa,” Taeyong mumbled as he roamed around his body to check every pocket he has in his clothes. “There’s no way I’d walk back again, we’re already in the basement.”
Taeyong sighs, “Alright, just go to the car first,” he handed in the car keys before running back to his daughter’s ward. He was about to open the door when he overheard the conversation going on between his daughter and you. “Does he look happier when he’s with her?” Taeyong furrowed his eyebrow while waiting for your answer, but then he heard nothing from you.
“I think he’s happier with me, and with you! He’s so happy when the three of us are together.” The words quickly ring repetitively in his head, which makes him question the same thing, does he look happier when he’s with you, and his daughter?
He walks back to the parking lot, hands empty without his wallet, but a brand new decision. He goes to the car with no emotion drawn on his face, but so many things in his head.
“Where are we heading to? This isn’t the right way to the coex. Are you.. taking me home?”
“Yeah, I didn’t manage to get my wallet back so let’s just eat ramen in your house.”
Jennie narrowed her eyes suspiciously before Taeyong shuts down all of her thoughts with a glare.
“This is weird. I don’t like instant noodles, and you cooked for me right in my own house, are you gonna break up with me?” She joked. But then Taeyong nodded, after slurping his last ramen. “Yeah, after all, I do realize that I’m not exactly happy when I’m with you.”
Jennie loses her smile and she makes sure that she hears wrong from him. “Wait a minute, no, you’re only joking, right? No, yong, not cool. Not funny, you need to learn another joke.”
“No, I’m not joking. You never let me do whatever makes me happy. You always had me listen to you every time, like a puppet. And the most important thing, you never, let alone love my daughter, you never have any interest in her. How could I be with someone like that? You should’ve dated any single man without any kids, like that man you cheated me on with, Kim Jongin.”
Jennie lets out her tears fall like he hurts her intentionally. “I thought we talked about that, yong. You said you forgive me for that.”
“No, Jen. This is not working out anymore. We can’t work it out anymore.” Taeyong was already standing up, ready to leave the house when Jennie pulls his hand back tightly, preventing him to leave. “No, yong. I promise I will make things right, please. Please-”
Taeyong holds her hand for the last time, giving her the best of his smiles, along with his sad glaze over his eyes. “I’m so sorry for being a jerk, Jen. But you really need to meet someone else other than me. Someone who will love you fully for you. Someone who will not ask too much from you, like me. I appreciate all of our times together but we can’t be together, so, goodbye.”
A week after your resignation, you spend your time resting in your apartment. Taehee was discharged from the hospital and now she can move as much as she wants so you no longer stays with her. You never heard of Taeyong or his little daughter, the last time you heard of him was from Johnny, where he said Taeyong got himself drown in work more than usual. You, on the other hand, are the opposites of him.
You spend your days mostly laying on your bed, sometimes splattered on your sofa, stuck with Netflix and tubs of ice cream. Even though you weren’t really adjusted by only lying around sluggishly at home, the feeling of emptiness without your work and Taehee make you feel like doing nothing would be the best option.
You know very well that the moment you lay your application forms on any company mailboxes, acceptances will come to you like a waterfall. No doubt, you have the experience of working in a big and reputable technology company, and your educational background is no joke. But lately, you have no interest in working and trying out new things, like you used to be. It’s like you’ve changed into another person, and you, of course, find it weird.
Like now, in front of your full body mirror, you started to question your whole being the moment you grabbed your old party dress. “Seriously, who are you? You never go into clubs or bars in the past few years, and now you want to get drown in alcohol? That is so not you, Y/n.” You talked to yourself like a madwoman.
“Urgh, fuck it. I’ll get wasted tonight,” you mumbled.
Tumblr media
You engulfed your ninth bottle on the bar chair, eyes getting heavy every second as you put down the empty bottle. You were about to order more bottles when a stranger sits next to you. “I’ll pay her bills. Hey, miss. Even though you’re quite a hot mess right now, your look still being an eye-catcher.”
You narrowed your already blurry eyes at the unfamiliar man. “Uh, I’m sorry. I don’t drink with strangers.” You were about to leave when he holds your wrist tightly. “Where are you going? I’m paying your bills, at least chat with me here.”
You brushed his hand aside weakly, “No, I’ll pay-”
“Let go of her, you trash.” With a sudden force, you were pulled behind someone’s back. At one moment, you quickly notice the man in front of you from his hair color, and especially his peculiar scent. Lee Taeyong?
“I’ll pay her bills. Please be quick.” He brings you along to the cashier and as you watch his back under the influence, you can’t help but adore his familiar figure. “Those back... and those arms, used to hold me every night.”
“Let’s go, Y/n. Oh wow, your cheeks are so red.” He chuckles as he helped you standing properly by holding both of your upper arms. “Really? It’s because Mr. Lee is really handsome tonight,” you mumble sweetly. Taeyong chuckles louder when he heard the compliment out of your own mouth, knowing very well that you won’t exactly say that kind of thing when you’re sober. “No, you’re just really drunk, right now.” He noticed your skimpy dress before taking off his coat to cover your revealing outfit. “Let’s go.”
“Mr. Lee, why are you so perfect that It’s so hard to get on your side?” You mumble in your drunk state, while Taeyong only listens bitterly on his driver seat. “The harder I tried to chase you, you’ll be ahead further, away from me. You’re too far for me, Mr. Lee. I’m scared, about the fact that even though you’re not someone I can reach so easily, it’s hard for me to erase you from my mind.”
Taeyong was about to say something when you continue talking, “You and taehee, has become a part of my life that I can’t just erase so easily. Huh, am I too drunk? Am I dreaming?” You let out a heavy sigh as a drop of tear rolls on your cheek. “Can I actually say these things to you? Whatever, It hurts.”
This time, in his sober state, Taeyong fully understands that you truly had something special for him. Only now that he realizes that the only person he needed all this time was you. The only missing piece to his and taehee’s life was you. He no longer questions why you decided to leave your job. And finally, he understands what Jaehyun meant and he knows what to do.
“No, don’t go. I hate being drunk alone,” you mumble as you put your hand weakly in his, preventing him from leaving. “But, Y/n...”
“Please, I promise I won’t get wasted and be a trouble for you. Just this one night, please.” Taeyong sighs as he leads you back to your bed. “Alright, now let’s change your clothes first.”
He tries so hard not to touch you like he used to do when you sleep in his place. He smiles softly when he sees you shift around in your sleep. When he finished putting your pajamas on, he quickly covers you with a blanket before heading out of your room to check on his daughter.  “Hey, Jae. Thanks for taking care of taehee, is she asleep?”
“Yeah, yeah. I know, you’re gonna sleep there tonight, huh? Don’t worry, Taehee’s already sleeping with Chae in my bedroom. Take care of her, she deserves it. I’m always ready to help you, bro.”
Taeyong laughs when he hears his best friend yawns from the other side. “Alright, thank you so much. And also, I want you to arrange the whole thing we talked about yesterday. Please?”
“Dude, if only I can take back what I said earlier about always being ready to help you, I will. But no, alright, I’ll take care of it by tomorrow. You owe me a lot, dude.”
“I sure do, thank you a lot Jae.”
After hanging up the call, he goes back to your room, only to see you curled up against your pillow, snoring softly like a little baby. He lays down next to you, eyes wide awake while admiring your sleeping figure. “Why only now that I realize, that you were meant for me? I don’t deserve you, Y/n.”
Later on, he fell asleep with his body hugging yours, spooning you cozily and the warm fuzzy feeling makes you feel loved even in your dream.
“Good morning.” A familiar voice greets you the moment you open your eyes. “Oh, it’s Mr. Lee. Why would I hear him, especially on my bed? Oh, and now I can see him. Wow, hallucinations are either real these days.” You rub your eyes to get a better view, but he’s too good to be true. Taeyong stays still with a remaining smile on his face. “Am I still drunk? Ah, my head hurts.” You stretch out your hand to touch his face, and your eyes widen as you feel his cheeks against your palm.
“Mr. Lee?! Wait, you’re real?” You jolts up in shock as he chuckles sweetly. “You’re funny, Y/n. Yeah, I’m real. You’re the one who asked me to stay last night,” he muttered.
Distracted by his raspy morning voice, you think hard about how he ended up on your bed. But you were too drunk to remember everything. His face turns serious when he speaks up, “Don’t ever get drunk like yesterday, someone almost put something in your drink and I can’t even imagine what could’ve happened if I didn’t come sooner.”
You sat on the bar chair as he cooks some hangover soup for you, still confused about what just happened last night. Taeyong smiles upon seeing your puzzled expression. “So one of my business partner were having a celebration in the same bar last night, and he recognized you drinking alone on the bar, he only remembers you as my secretary so he contacted me and I thanked him a lot for that. If I was a little bit late, you could’ve been dragged to anywhere by that bastard.”
“Mr. Lee, we didn’t do anything last night, right?” You asked him bluntly, before covering your mouth out of embarrassment. Shit, I shouldn’t ask him that.
“Haha, no. You only asked me for cuddles. No more than that.” He put the soup on the counter before sitting down next to you. “Eat it before it cools down.” He gives you his sweet smiles as he pats the top of your head gently. You nod before you spoon the warm broth.
“Mr. Lee, is she okay with you being here?” you asked carefully. “Who? Taehee? Uh, I asked Jaehyun to take care of her last night, and I just checked up on her and she just ate her breakfast.”
You smiles bitterly, “That’s good, but I mean Miss Kim, does she know that you’re here?”
Taeyong sighed before licking his lip nervously. “Uhm, I broke up with her, Y/n.”
You tilt your head, how come I never know that...
“I realized that I’m never happy whenever I’m around her, and she was one of the reasons why I can’t spend more time with my daughter, so... I decided to call it off with her.”
“Ah, I’m sorry for you, Mr. Lee.” you bowed politely to him, feeling sorry that he had to end his 3 years relationship. “It’s alright. I’m okay, why would I be with someone who doesn’t cherish my daughter as much as I do, right?”
Seeing you staying still as you stare at nowhere, he takes it as a chance to give you a little bit of clarity. “Y/n, would you listen to what I’m gonna say?”
You turn your vision to him, and right at both of his brown orbs, you decide to listen without any expectations. “What is it?” You muttered. He closes his eyes while you set yours on him still. He gives out a small soothing smile as he speaks up, “What I did to you was unforgivable and shameful. I am very sorry for that. I regret hurting you and not realizing it. While being with her, I was blinded by greed and fraud. And maybe that’s why I couldn’t see what’s in front of me. My true tendency, my happiness.”
You were taken aback as you expected none of those words to come out of his mouth. His eyes wander to yours, looking for any answer from them. “Y/n, do you still love me? Do I... deserve a precious second chance from you?”
You gulped down in nervousness, “If I say I do, will I lose you again, Mr. Lee?”
His lips pull themselves up into a smile automatically at the sounds of your question, “I promise you no promises, Y/n. But I’ll hold onto you forever. Let’s not let go of each other.” He took your hand gently before putting a kiss on your delicate palm. “Don’t let go of me again, yong.”
He nodded as he leaned down to press his lips into yours, and you close your eyes along to the kiss.
Hours later, he brought you to a place where his daughter, along with Jaehyun and Chaeyoung have waited for you both. You feel your tears of happiness flowing like a river when the little girl holds the banner with a growing smile on her face, there written, ‘Will you be my mom?’
“Yes, honey. Yes,” you muttered as you hugged her tightly, before Taeyong joined the hug as well. “Well, our mission here is accomplished, so now please excuse me and my love to go on a nice date, Mr. Lee.”
“Haha, thanks Jae, I owe you a lot.”

You sit in the center of the deep maroon couch, legs folded under you as both men kneel in the space on the floor just in front of you. A movie you’ve seen too many times to count plays in the television in front of you, nothing more than white noise as you scroll various social media sites and eat your favorite post-work snack: popcorn.
“And then,” you sigh, popping another kernel in your mouth as you roll your eyes. Recanting the horrid experiences of your day remained a necessary part of your nightly routine – just as instructing both men to strip and present themselves, their collars, and their connected leash had become part of theirs.
Chris and Henry both stare at you with wide, waiting eyes – their matching collars along with the lack of clothes leaving their only differences being the small silver charms shaped to be the letter of their first initial. What they’re waiting for, they’re not exactly sure – a drop of praise, instruction, to be fed from the palm of your hand – but no matter what you choose to give them, they will accept it eagerly.
Even if it means waiting for nothing.
You finish the snack between words, emptying the bowl before grabbing the leash and forcing them to follow you to the bathroom where you can finally get ready for bed, ready to slot yourself between your two giant buffy men and sleep off the stress from your exhaustive work week before ringing in the weekend with some sweet, sweet morning sex. The perfect way to relax, de-stress…
The men crawl a single pace behind you, just as you trained them too all those months ago. It was hard - breaking through the hyper-masculine identifies everyone, even themselves, had forced them into took what felt like forever. At first it was just you getting them comfortable with the idea of the both of them dating another man, then it was riding them and sitting on their faces, and before long you were buying them custom matching collars and having them sit at your feet as you ate each meal that they cooked for you.
As you stand in front of the sink, each man kneels by your side with their hands flat on their thighs as you pull your hair from your face, take off your make up, and – finally – instruct Henry to strip you down while Chris grabs your pajamas (also known as one of their shirts worn thin from years of wear and a pair of sleep shorts you bought from some fast fashion retailer forever ago). It’s one of those things that began as simple thing that helped build their capacity for rule-following but soon became a necessary part of your routine with them, a nonsexual intimacy that you look forward to each morning as you fit your feet in into uncomfortable high heels and shove your ass into another pencil skirt.
Everything seems great as the man unbuttons your dark red top, unzipping your pants and allowing the clothes to fall to the ground, the underwear following soon after. It all seems perfect as Chris deposits the clothes you want to change into next to your phone on the counter – folded in just the way you like them. It’s euphoric, the feeling of both of them there – so much so it nearly blinds you to the feeling of Henry licking a thick stripe alone your bare pussy.
Nearly.
In an instant you’re turned around - grabbing Henry by the jaw to force his eyes to meet yours as you bare your teeth. “What the fuck did you just do?”
Fear flashes across his eyes as he realizes what he’s done, as the knowledge that he will now face the thing he dreads most: punishment.
“I-I-“ he attempts to walk back his actions, explain away the rule he  had just broken – the one second only to the one that states they are not to touch themselves without your express permission. He had broken the strict guidance at they are not allowed to touch you either – certainly not while you were doing something else, and certainly not while you were already one edge. “I’m sorry, I-”
You don’t give him time to finish his plea, rolling your eyes as you hiss.
“I’ve been working too hard,” you punctuate the last word by shoving him back, a small smile spread across your lips as he stumbles. “Haven’t been as strict as I should be, have let you both forget how mean I can be when you decide to be bad, dumb puppies…”
Henry stays there, flat on his ass on the hardwood floor as he watches you with fear running through his veins. It’s rare you’re ever as mad as you are now – usually preferring to take a much soft hand when it came to correct improper behavior. This week, though, had eroded your good will, your patience, and even if you tolerated entry-level bullshit from your coworkers, you certainly weren’t going to take it from either Chris or Henry.
With fire in your eyes you turn to Chris, who throughout the entire interaction has remained silent in his obedience. He’s your good puppy – the one who politely eats from your hand and sits by your chair in your home office without making a sound and never ever breaks a rule. He’s golden, perfect, and watches as you eye him up and down.
“You want a reward?” you ask him, stepping closer so you can run your fingers through his hair. “You want a reward for being my good little puppy?”
Chris nods eagerly, sighing as he watches you lean against the marble countertop and open your legs – his eyes hooded and jaw slack as the slick that’s collected there shines against the low lighting in the room. It’s a reward of the highest honor, your sweet pussy. A golden jewel, the most precious incentive for both men.
And currently is was eye-level with Chris, whose mouth is nearly watering as he licks his lips.
“Come get a taste then.”
It’s all Chris needs before he’s lurching forward forward – beard digging into the soft flesh of your inner thighs as his tongue and teeth begin to trace over your lips, ghost over your clit. He’s skilled, knowledgeable of your body and how to use his own to pleasure you – two of his fingers trailing from their place on his thighs to circle your entrance before moving to curl them inside of you.
“Oh!” you moan, reaching one hand behind you to grab his hair – keeping him in place as the beautiful pain shoots down his spine. “Oh, puppy…”
His tongue licks at the most sensitive part of you in staccato strokes, drawing small, desperate moans out of you that seem to melt into each other as the angry heat that curled in your abdomen turns into one of arousal. It you weren’t leaning against the custom oak cabinets you surely would’ve fallen by now, your knees buckling under the sheer amount of pleasure that courses through you.
“Fuck, yes my good Puppy,” you moan, your words beginning to slur as you get closer and closer – hips bucking in time with Chris’s fingers and tongue. Deep, guttural moans erupt from your chest, the loudness only amplified by the white tile walls it bounces off of.
In the rare, fleeting moments you’re able to open your eyes you can see Henry’s painfully hard cock leaking precum, a sight that makes your heart skip a beat and your pussy pulse.
“God, I’m so close,” you gasp as Chris adds another finger, “Fuck Puppy don’t stop don’t-!”
You come with a deep moan, eyes rolling to the back of your head as Chris continues to lick at your clit, reveling in the feeling of your cunt pulsing against his face. You push him away when it all becomes too much, face hot and panting as you press your foot to the center of his chest to keep him in place. As he sits back you nearly moan as you see his face – equally as fucked out as yours as his swollen lips gape and hooded eyes look up at you with his soaked beard making another rush of adrenaline shoot through your chest.
“Was that good, Mommy?” he murmurs, words barely audible. “Did I make you feel good?”
You smile as you lean down to kiss his forehead and then his lips, tasting yourself on his tongue. “Yes, puppy – you did so well, I’m so proud of you…”
Chris cuddles into you, accepting the praise as his cock strains against his stomach. It’s only when his chest stops heaving that you turn to Henry – whose whole body seems nearly shaking with desperation. enrhH
“Now,” you sigh, turning away from the man who remains slumped against your chest. “How should I take care of this little problem?”
Henry gulps, jaw tumbling as he does so.
Oh, you think, He’s really in for it this time.

Welcome Back
Golden returns to Galar to visit Kabu. This is her second time ever in Galar, and she and Kabu have been dating long distance for several months now. Some softness and fluff on their first day back together after many months apart.
Content warning: food. Word count: 3186
Finally, finally Golden was done with Customs. She was thoroughly exhausted from the long flight (which she hadn't been able to sleep on, because she never slept on a plane, unfortunately). Her backpack was starting to feel like a lead weight. And her suitcase felt like more of a pain that it ever had before. And she was tired of stale, cold airport air.
But at the end of all of this, Kabu would be there to greet her. That thought alone kept her going, even as the line for Customs had moved interminably slow and she felt her eyelids beginning to droop.
She passed through the last security checkpoint and the crowd began to disperse. Golden looked eagerly for Kabu, feeling her heart rate beginning to increase as she searched for him. She stood on tiptoes, looking around for him, finally feeling awake again at the prospect of seeing him. But where...?
"Hey." Kabu's voice from behind her made her spin around, a huge smile on her face. She must have walked past him, she thought for a moment, before she lost all of her train of thought as she met his gaze.
"Kabu!" Golden yelled, letting go of her suitcase to practically tackle Kabu with a hug. He laughed, hugging her back as best he could with her backpack still on. She pressed herself to him, unwilling to let go, face buried in his neck.
"It's good to see you, Golden." Kabu said, stroking her hair with one hand. "I missed you."
"I missed you, too." Golden replied, squeezing him tighter in response. Finally, she pulled back, still unable to stop smiling. Even Kabu, who tended to keep a stoic face, had a wide smile he couldn't hide. She was thrilled she could bring such a beautiful smile to his wonderful face. Fuck, she'd missed him so much.
They stood there a moment, staring into each others' eyes. Her gaze wandered to his lips, and suddenly the airport seemed to fade away. Should she...kiss him? She wanted to kiss him. But they had never...she swallowed, finally looking away, putting a hand on her suitcase, blushing.
She didn't realize it, but Kabu had been having similar thoughts. How badly he wanted to kiss her, after not seeing her for months. But he restrained himself. He didn't want to push her boundaries, didn't want to pressure her into anything. Despite his desire, he held back.
"Let me get that. You must be exhausted." Kabu said, putting his hand on top of Golden's on her suitcase handle.
"Oh, thank you...I am exhausted." Golden admitted, stretching her arms over her head for a moment.
"Your backpack too." He held out his other hand expectantly. She handed it over, thanking him again as he waved her off. With the backpack on, Kabu offered Golden his arm. With a giggle, she took his arm, blushing faintly. "It's just a 30 minute train ride back into Motostoke, and a short walk, and then you can rest."
"It's a much nicer trip with you here." Golden admitted, leaning her head on his shoulder for a brief moment. Her stomach growled suddenly.
"Oh, should we grab something before we get on the train?" Kabu asked with a serious expression.
"N-no, that's fine! I'd rather get back to Motostoke first." Golden protested.
"If you're sure." Kabu added. "I have some leftovers at home, if you don't mind day old champon."
"I don't think I've ever had your cooking before." Golden admitted, smiling slyly.
"I admit, I wouldn't have chosen to introduce it to you as leftovers." Kabu replied wryly. "I hope you find it to your taste despite this."
"I have no doubt!"
-------------------------------------------------------------
At first, Golden was talking animatedly with Kabu as they rode the train. But slowly, she became quieter, clearly fatigued from her travels. Her head was nodding a bit, brushing against Kabu's shoulder with the motion of the train.
"You should just rest." Kabu said softly, wrapping his arm around her shoulders as she trailed off in the middle of yet another sentence.
"But...I haven't seen you in...in like more than 6 months..." Golden objected, despite laying her head on his shoulder more decisively, snuggling up against him.
"There's time." He squeezed her shoulder reassuringly.
"I...suppose..." Golden's eyes closed, and it wasn't much longer before she drifted to sleep. Kabu couldn't help but stare at her, noticing all the details he hadn't fully appreciated. Her long lashes curving over her cheeks, the way her hair fell in messy waves over her shoulders, the pink on her round cheeks, her small hands folded in her lap. She was beautiful in so many ways. Seeing her in person made it all the more obvious to him how absolutely smitten he was with her.
And how badly he had missed her.
He was content to enjoy this moment as the train raced along the sunset into Motostoke.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Golden marveled as they entered Kabu's home. It was on the top floor of one of the taller buildings, and it took up the entire floor. No neighbors for Kabu. The first thing she noticed was how minimalist it was. The walls and floor were predominantly whites and shades of blue-grey. There was a white brick fireplace with a television on the wall above it, and some furniture in dark, natural wood shades. It looked well taken care of, but old, and the style didn't seem to fit Galar. Perhaps it was brought over from Hoenn. There was a grey blue couch and loveseat in front of the fireplace, a patterned red rug on the floor in front of them. There were just a few things hanging on the walls. A large, Hoenn style fan, and some photos of Kabu and his Poke'mon, as well as what she assumed was his family back in Hoenn.
Most striking was that one of the walls was almost entirely a glass window. Even having only just entered the room, she could see that the view would be gorgeous. The last rays of the sun were shining through it, bathing the room in soft yellow light.
The kitchen and the living room seemed to share an open space, the carpet giving way to tile. The kitchen was sleek and modern, a contrast to the wooden end tables and other furniture that decorated the living room. An island counter aided in defining when the space changed from living room to kitchen. Golden also noticed 3 doors that led to other rooms, but she didn't have a chance to see where they went before Kabu drew her attention.
"I wasn't sure what you'd prefer," He started, looking away from her gaze for a moment, brushing a hand through his hair. "So I made up the guest bed. But you can also sleep in my room, with me, of course." His cheeks flushed. "No pressure, it's up to you."
Golden felt herself blush in response to the question. "Your room." She mumbled. Despite this exciting development and the awkwardness, she was still overwhelmed by her exhaustion, unable to spare the energy to be properly flustered.
Kabu nodded. "Great. In that case, why don't you unpack a little and get changed into your pajamas while I heat up the champon? You look like you might keel over at any moment." He teased.
"I'm...I'm totally awake." Golden grumbled, forcing her eyes fully open to pout at him. He was right, of course. But it was still so early, and she didn't want to waste any of the precious time she had with him.
He ruffled her hair with his hand, laughing a little. "Of course you are." He motioned for her to follow him, pushing open one of the doors. "This is my bedroom. You're welcome to unpack wherever, though I imagine you'll leave most of the unpacking for tomorrow, at this rate." He squeezed her shoulder gently. "I'll go work on that champon, you come out when you're ready."
Golden nodded her assent, and Kabu left, heading for the kitchen and closing the door behind him. She took a moment, looking around the room. A king sized bed, from the looks of things, a door that she assumed led to a bathroom, what looked like a closet door, a large black dresser...
Right, she could take a closer look later. For now...what the hell was she gonna change into...usually, she just slept in her panties. Just the thought of that turned her face crimson. Right, yeah, she'd packed some short shorts and some oversized t-shirts. After some digging around in her suitcase, she changed.
...of course, even this was making Golden's face warm. Sure, she'd dressed like this while they'd video chatted on numerous occasions, but in person...it felt immensely more intimate. She pressed her hands over her face, feeling the heat on her cheeks. Alright, deep breaths...and no doubt Kabu would find this look very cute, too...
She peeked out of the bedroom, pushing the door open tentatively, Her other hand reflexively rubbed at her eyes. She really was exhausted. Would she even make it through dinner?
"Oh, just in time!" Kabu called from the kitchen at the sound of the door opening. Centiskorch skittered up to her happily, while she could see Ninetales staring at her from the edge of the kitchen. Arcanine was absent, which surprised her. She pet the bug happily, cooing to it, noticing that Kabu hadn't yet turned around. With Centiskorch following at her side, she wandered shyly over to the dining table that was adjacent to the kitchen, holding the bottom of her shirt with both hands.
Having finished ladling out champon into two bowls, he grabbed them both and turned to walk to the table. For a moment Golden thought he was going to drop them as he noticed her. He cleared his throat awkwardly, cheeks as red as hers were, before carefully walking to the table and setting the bowls down.
"Um, please, have a seat." Kabu mumbled, as he did so himself. Golden sat across from him, shyly staring down into her bowl.
She picked up her spoon tentatively. It wasn't that she was worried about how she'd like the food or anything remotely like that. It was just that she felt so damn shy, which was really not helped by the fact that she could still feel Kabu's eyes on her. Surely he was wondering why she wasn't eating.
That wouldn't last long. Shy or not, she was hungry. Really hungry. And this smelled amazing. She started with the broth, sipping at the hot liquid. Her eyes lit up immediately.
"This is fantastic." Golden grabbed her chopsticks immediately, feeling herself salivating from the small taste she'd had. "You made this?!" She met his gaze, shyness gone at having tasted his delicious cooking.
Kabu laughed gently. "Yes, I did. I'm often making large batches of it. It's hearty, and easy for me to make."
"It's amazing." And just like that, Golden felt awake again, shoveling food into her face with enthusiasm.
"I'm glad you think so." Kabu replied with another laugh. He watched her eat for a moment, barely touching his own food. "I..." Kabu cleared his throat again. "I've seen you wear more or less that exact outfit, on video chat, so many times...but seeing you like that in person nearly gave me a heart attack." He admitted, blushing a bit.
Golden looked up in surprise at his words, a few noodles hanging out of her mouth. Blushing, she quickly slurped them up.
"I-in a good way or...no, heart attacks aren't good-" Golden found her travel-exhausted brain was ill equipped to handle his compliment at the moment.
"In a good way, Golden. You're very cute..." Kabu murmured, before finally picking up his own chopsticks and putting food in his mouth so he could avoid saying more.
"O-oh!" Golden blushed again. "Thank you..." She mumbled back, also opting to take the route of putting a large piece of meat in her mouth to avoid speaking. It was quiet for a bit, aside from their sounds of eating. As her stomach filled up, Golden found she was growing sleepy again. This time, it felt far heavier than it had earlier. She jolted upright, narrowly avoiding dunking her face into her bowl.
"I think it's time you got to sleep." Kabu observed, smiling almost smugly.
"You're clearly, right, but..." She pouted, leaving her eyes closed. "I don't wanna. I wanna spend time with you..."
Kabu got to his feet, picking up both of their bowls, which were more or less empty. "How about a compromise." He suggested, as he walked back to the kitchen to rinse them off.
Golden cracked an eye open and looked at him with a brow raised. "Yes?"
"I will get changed and get in bed with you. That way, you can spend time with me until the moment you fall asleep. Deal?" He slid the dishes into the dishwasher, closing it before turning to look at her, expression looking altogether too serious for such a light negotiation.
"Mm...I accept." Golden decided after pretending to debate the issue. That brought a smile to Kabu's face.
"Very good." Coming to stand next to her again, he offered his arm as he had at the airport. She took his arm, getting to her feet with a loud yawn.
"Don't say anything." She mumbled, sticking her tongue out at him.
He raised his brows, but walked her over to his room nonetheless. Once there, he pulled back the covers on his bed, revealing a neatly folded set of red flannel pajamas, which he picked up.
"I'll be right back. Don't fall asleep while I'm gone." Kabu teased, enjoying the way she flushed and stammered at the remark.
"Hurry up then, geez!" She crossed her arms as he disappeared into the bathroom to change.
Before long, Golden found herself in bed snuggled up against Kabu. She had insisted on leaving the light on (she knew she'd pass out immediately if left in the dark for more than 5 seconds). Kabu was sitting up with his back against the headboard, and Golden was resting her head on his chest, her arm draped across him. Kabu's arm was wrapped around her shoulder. She was comfortable, despite how shy she felt. There hadn't been much time to be physically affectionate before she'd left. It had all felt so fast. But now, she was here, listening to his heartbeat in his chest...
Well, not for much longer. She could no longer keep her eyes open, and she was only barely aware of Kabu's thumb rubbing gently against her shoulder. But it was a losing battle. Despite the early hour in Galar, a mere 7 pm, she fell into a deep sleep not long after getting into bed.
Kabu smiled down at her as she finally gave in to sleep, her breathing shifting. He hesitated a moment, before pressing a loving kiss to the top of her head. He would be more than content to lie here reading a book with her nestled against him until he too fell to sleep's sweet embrace.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Golden woke up at an ungodly hour. The room was still dark. Kabu was snoring quietly. She tried to go back to sleep - but it was impossible. That was jetlag for you. She checked her watch, squinting as it's digital screen lit up her face. 4 am. Wow. Amazing. Well, she certainly didn't want to wake Kabu...
She looked around the room as her eyes adjusted. Centiskorch was easily visible on Kabu's other side. While it's flames were much reduced as it slept, they still glowed a faint yellow orange. It was curled up against Kabu's back.
Golden turned her attention to Ninetales, who slept at the foot of the bed. She was startled to see that Ninetales was staring at her. It wasn't an unfriendly stare, but it wasn't exactly friendly either. The Poke'mon was clearly appraising her, with a hint of curiosity in it's eyes. She imagined she had been too tired yesterday to notice this behavior. Ninetales had always appeared standoffish to her, since the moment she'd met Kabu, but it had never seemed to pay her much attention. Perhaps things were different now that she and Kabu were...closer. Now that she was here, invading the cherished space Kabu shared with his beloved teammates. Surely it would be an adjustment for them.
It was an adjustment for her. They were sharing a bed, yet they hadn't even kissed! But there was no way she would have stayed in a guest bedroom...not when they had just precious little time together. She'd been too tired the night before to do much other than be honest about the fact that she wanted to be in his bed with him, when he presented the choice. She may have blushed, but she hadn't had the energy to be flustered. Now she could feel her cheeks burning as she watched his peaceful expression as he slept, his chest rising and falling.
She wondered absent-mindedly how often Kabu brought people back here. Who was the last partner he'd had? Had Ninetales behaved the same way back then? Was she one in a long line of partners? Was it something Ninetales had been through before?
Golden sighed quietly to herself. There was little point in thinking about this. But Ninetales seemed...uncertain, to her. That made it likely that it wasn't a regular occurrence, at least. Slowly, careful not to disturb Kabu, she got out of bed. She could feel Ninetales' eyes following her as she made her way out of the bedroom, leaving the door cracked as she left.
She breathed out a sigh of relief. It was nice to not feel the fox staring her down anymore. That was definitely judgement in Ninetales' gaze. Well, perhaps she'd make a nice cup of tea for herself. If she could find the tea. And the mugs. She didn't think Kabu would mind if she did that. If he did mind, she'd just have to apologize and find a way to make up for it. But, somehow she figured he'd be more bothered that he wasn't awake to make it for her...
With a mug in hand (it had a cute chibified Torchic on it), she waited for water to boil. When did Kabu normally wake up? She furrowed her brow, doing the mental math. By the time he was online he'd already done his morning workout, so that would be...she squeezed her eyes shut. 6 am. Alright. She looked at her watch. It was 4:30 am now. Okay. He'd be up in an hour and a half. That was reasonable.
She poured herself some tea and sat down on the couch. Well, she was sure there was some catching up she could do while she waited. She'd been traveling all day yesterday, after all. Hopefully Kabu wouldn't be too bothered that she'd gotten up without him...
