You know what I love about Dōma? His mannerisms. That demon is just so...I don't really know how to put it into words, but he's memorizing through his personality, characteristics, and design.
I mean by simple observation, you can tell he's a laid back demon who seems nonchalant about his actions towards others, and if you go into the manga, it's all a facade he created; You don't even have to read it to see how odd he is at first glance, slightly more so than his peers in my opinion.
Take this for example:
His stare is honestly unnerving. It's like he's boring into Gyokko's soul. He even does it towards Akaza.
That's the smile of a natural born psychopath and his eyes fare no better. There's no meaning behind it. No mirth or positive affliction. You can't get a good read on Dōma and understand what's skittering around in his mind. It's a dull kaleidoscope of rotating personas, shifting and blending into one another to give everyone what they want to perceive.
....::::**•°❄❇☸❇❄°•**::::........::::**•
You see this?
That's extra submissive behavior in my opinion. Groveling to your knees in front of your superior and subordinate, humbling and playing off a terrible act as nothing, but fair play. It's a simple, yet great technique to manipulate those around you. Act so soft and caring, maybe even become like a dunce once or twice and no one will suspect a thing, except that you're a nice person trying your best.(only easily persuaded people will fall for something ridiculous like that) He's got a good act going: soft spoken voice when needed, his plastered smile, the personality of diffusing situations and slipping in tiny insults towards others.(even when it's not, it's more of speculation or facts. Usually statements like that get to people especially if it's close to the truth.)
That's why his followers are by the abundance; it's due to his charisma with added features. Yet to the upper ranks, mainly Akaza, it's more of an annoyance than anything. They can't get to him, but he can get to them through blunt retorts and simplicity.
I wouldn't be surprised if Muzan at one point became jealous of Dōma. The man might be their "creator", but he's still has some sort of humanity attached to him like the rest. Emotions can be unstable under certain circumstances and Muzan definitely lets his emotions take control of him to often. Anger is his most prominent trait towards others when things doesn't go his way. Dōma? Usually unfazed and annoyed when things don't go his way, maybe even curious.

I don't know what's the point of this post anymore, I just wanted to talk about Dōma. He's a neat little specimen.

Very very unpopular opinion: I think in some way both Dōma and Muzan did deserve better.
Before anyone tries to jump me, hear me out.
Muzan was terminally ill and i'm pretty sure he was be bound. Just like most people he was afraid of dying and wanted to live.
He ended up being turned into a monster by a doctor who used him as some kind of experiment for his medicine. I don't believe sick people deserve to be used as some kind of guinea pig and loose their humanity because they just wanted to get better and I don't fault him for killing that doctor. I would have gone crazy too and probably done the same thing.
On the other hand Dōma was just a child who happened to be born different (rainbow eyes and lacking emotions). His parents made someone who was not fully developed a cult leader. If he had had normal parents he would have been able to develop a bit more normally. I don't think he would have been able to fully understand human emotions though.
My point is: from a young age he spent his time listening to people's troubles while not even being able to fully understand them. Adding on top the fact that he was seen as a god/semi god. He had 0 chances of being "normal". Him being fucked up is expected.
That being said this is not me trying to defend them. While they are not responsible for these circumstances they are very much responsible for what they choose to do after. They deserved the death they had and honestly even worse.

*Walks over to Chachamaru with curiosity*
*Attempts to pet the cat*
Chachamaru blinks in confusion, before recognizing the shape of the little ice and bending down so the lil guy can climb onto their thick fur.
"I had forgotten Upper Moon Two could make you guys. Cute, I suppose."
They tilt their head carefully and gently lick at the ice, in friendly way not in a I'm trying to eat you way.
