maybe it's too soon for me to be thinking about this but given that dtupdates has been archived, I do wonder who is going to take one for the team and make a new update account (unless others already exist, I only know of the dream update account)

i think a new one will pop up on here eventually :o i'd be down to help run it tbh but definitely going to let things play out for a bit longer before jumping into that sort of commitment

It's fucking nuts. Like even if we say he has a hands off business approach (funnily enough only when stuff goes wrong) he's still the one paying for it in the end??? Say he has 20 employees and whoever pays them only needs like 3k every month you still know the employees are getting underpaid??

LITERALLY. like i wouldn’t be surprised if his streaming money hangs out in a separate account from his personal stuff but the likelihood of him signing off on peoples pay is near 100% and we Know how much money twitch makes like these things are calculated and that doesn’t even factor in the insane amount of merch revenue he makes off his (incredibly overpriced) shit that never even gets shipped out. it either takes SEVERE irresponsibility or pure greed to prevent you from paying your employees fairly and i fear it’s probably some of column a and some of column b………. and none of it is excusable in the slightest. and LISTEN i understand doing volunteer work like. dtupdate admins don’t get paid, neither do the people running fic exchanges or art events. but those are Volunteer Posts that you accept with explicit acknowledgement that you will not be compensated for your time (because there is No cash involved in the entire operation). but if some employees are getting paid and others aren’t (especially fucking devs and artists, who are directly making a Product that contributes to you Making Money) you’re a scumbag!!!! we have a word for it!!!!!
