Five good (and gay) things that happened this week: 7/28-8/3
Happy Friday everyone! I’ll be covering the Good and the Gay for this week while Dana celebrates for her birthday getaway. Please litter the comments section with well wishes if you haven’t already shouted at her on Twitter. Source: The Spy Who Dumped Me site 1. The Spy Who Dumped Me is slated for nationwide release today and has already won over The New York Times. So, grab your best “gal pal” and watch Mila Kunis and lesbian darling Kate McKinnon buddy cop it up in a theater near you. Source: Instagram 2. Did you know Orange Is The New Black stars Vicci Martinez (Daddy) and Emily Tarver (CO McCullough) are real life girlfriends? Because I did not! But you can read all about their off camera romance here. Sidenote: OITNB deserves some kind of award for producing adorable couples. A post shared by Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) on Jul 29, 2018 at 6:00pm PDT 3. Julie Taymor’s musical Across The Universe starring out bi actress Evan Rachel Wood was re-released in theaters this week (7/29-8/1). If you missed it, this emotional video of Wood singing along to “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” should be all the incentive you need to rent the movie on iTunes or Google Play. Source: Kamala Harris Twitter 4. On Tuesday Senate Democrats Kamala Harris (Calif.) and Tom Carper (Del.) introduced the Census Equality Act. The bill requires the Census Bureau to include questions about sexual orientation and gender identity by 2030. Said Harris: “The spirit of the census is that no one should go uncounted and no one should be invisible.” 5. Lizzie, starring Chloe Sevigny and out actress Kristen Stewart, finally gets a trailer. There’s been a lot of buzz about this re-imagining of the Lizzie Borden story, which stars Sevigny as the titular Lizzie and Stewart as her housemaid, Bridget Sullivan. Lizzie poses a scenario where Lizzie and Bridget fall in love and Lizzie fights back against a cruel and abusive family. The real Lizzie Borden was acquitted of the murders, but suspicion followed her until her own death thirty years later. http://dlvr.it/Qdjn4K
