Rockin Rascals

The Rockin Rascals was a retrofitted Daniel and the Dixie Diggers trio show made for Celebration Station in Knoxville TN by Sally Corp it included characters such as Major Moose, Calvin, Purrcilla Purr, and Hurricane hound which was a retrofitted Jethro P. hogg

2 out of the 4 characters major and purrcilla were reused Characters from the Pantones show, unfortunately after Zuma Fun center bought them out they were beheaded/dismantled as Zuma didn't care for them. the fate of the parts are unknown

Seen any good animatronics lately?

I've seen some bad ones recently lmao

I'll cover it more In Due Time (video I'm making) but I recently went to the stew leonard's in yonkers, ny and their animatronics were uhhhhhhhhh Fine . they were fine. some of them were fun if just obvious food ads lol

and they had some daniel and the dixie diggers retrofits! but they were uh. not moving lol

so I was kinda disappointed honestly! just about everything had some sort of issue with it whether technical or just that the character was lame lmao. i guess I shouldnt have expected much better from a supermarket? but also it may just be this specific location lol, there's a handful of others in the area so maybe I'll wind up at another one soon and see if it's any better

RagBone Development

These are some developmental sketches of Ragbone!! He came to me in the middle of the night and so I instantly went to design I knew I wanted bright colors but I didn’t know what exact scheme or placement I wanted

I knew I wanted to give him a big band/ rubber house-ish design and someone as passionate about those things as I am, which led me to think of the animatronic band Daniel and the Dixie Diggers. he’s named after the song “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” which was covered by them. I knew I wanted to incorporate music all over his design so piano keys are in his fur pattern which turned into this

I decided to add another under his eye then, After this was a bunch of playing around with his jacket since that's where most of his color comes from I toyed around with maybe giving him vaudeville gloves but decided not to. The music designs on his jacket would change after this too.

After this I finalized his jacket. He has a music note which is a patch sew-on to the jacket and the 3 lines under his pocket are supposed to be like the lines in sheet music.

After this was just sketching until I found a good key pose. So I just kept drawing him til he was perfect.

Lost Animatronics: The Rockin’ Rascals

The Rocking Rascals,  a animatronic band trio made specifically for a Celebration Station in Knoxville TN by Sally Dark Rides. They were established around 1996 and are Daniel and the Dixie Diggers retrofitted with Celebration Station’s preexisting characters. The Band seems to have had a bright and cheery theme with a cool 90′s flare, they would cover retro songs and create a great atmosphere for birthdays at the location. Eventually however their location did close, and sadly we don’t know what ended up happening to the gang, I’d like to think they simply returned to being DATDD and went on to thrive for years, but no one can be sure.

I’ll be making posts about the main stage band (pictured above) and their side stage act (Hurricane Hound).
