[COLOR BLOCK] It’s been a while since I last uploaded a new look and post it here. Obviously I wear makeup every day to work, but photographing said looks is a whole other story. Ever since last year I decided to take my photos with my Canon EOS 90D camera and I’m invested in upgrading my photography skills. This process is slow, but I’m finally seeing the first results: I’m finally able to catch those color shifts 😊. I still have so much more to learn, but seeing the progress I’m making is motivating. For those of you interested in upgrading your skills set, here are my recommendations: 📷 Online Photography Class by Daryna Barykina 🦋 Skulltress Pro Platform by Vanessa Davis 💕 Online Influencer Programs by Lorella Palmer and Georgia Portogallo . . . Artist Research: Daryna Barykina
Daryna Barykina is a fashion photographer that looks at visually capturing contemporary society and themes of issues within society. “Bruised Behind the Mask’ is a series that focuses on domestic abuse within portraiture. The images are taken within a studio and look similar to those of fashion editorials. The model has her makeup well done and beautiful clothes. These contrast greatly to the cracks in her smooth skin and reveal bruises, cuts and fresh wounds.
I really like the use of the model holding a portion of the skin that has cracked off of her face. This really reinforces the mask concept.
The use of lighting within the studio creates no shadow within the background but rather on the natural shadows of the face and neck. Having one light is something I plan to apply to my own work. I want to do this because I want to create a beautiful, light hearted atmosphere. This will allow for smoothness of skin, no harsh lines or textures and correctly expose all the details of the face.
