Star Wars Celebration Chicago is just 18 days away (*screams*) and now that the full panel schedule is out, I can finally begin planning my visit!
This will be my first time at Celebration and just scrolling through the list of panels has been so overwhelming. I counted around 40 events per day between April 12-15, covering all areas of Star Wars from movies, shows, books, video games, toys, music, art, costumes, podcasts—and that’s not even including the booths on the show floor and meetups happening outside of the convention. I honestly don’t know how I’ll survive the week 😭
To make my life easier, I decided to convert that wall of text on the Celebration website into a more usable (and colorful) calendar. A few people on Twitter also expressed an interest in it, so I’m making it available for anyone to use.
NOTE: The date, time, and location of panels may change as we get closer to Celebration. I will update it as I often as I can but please contact me directly to request any changes.
Now, behold...
✨✨ THE SWCC PANEL CALENDAR ✨✨
Public Google calendars always look messy and outdated af but don’t worry—all of the info is there and it will look prettier once you add it to your own calendar app or service. Here is how to do that:
For Google Calendar Users:
There are two ways to subscribe to my calendar. If you’re having issues with the first method, then try the second one. We’ll start with the quickest:
1. Open the link above and scroll down until you see this button on the bottom-right:
2. Click it and log in to your Google Calendar account. It will prompt you to add these 8 calendars. I split them up so you have the option of choosing only the ones you want. When you’ve done that, select “Add”.
3. You may need to wait a bit but you should have all of the panels visible on your calendar. (*If some calendars are missing, try refreshing the page!)
Now you can change the colors, set alerts, print the entire thing out, or copy/duplicate events to your own schedule. Any updates I make to my calendar(s) will also appear on yours.
Alternatively, you can add each calendar one-by-one. You need to be logged in to do this. Just click the links below:

For Non-Google Users:
Luckily, you don’t need to have a Google account to make use of this.
Most calendar apps allow you to "subscribe" to existing calendars just by entering their address into your app. I don’t know which ones you use but I recommend doing a search online if you’re not sure how to do it. Here is a guide for Outlook and iCloud.
Just copy and paste these URLs to add them:

Using Altcal and iCal together can provide a great replacement to Microsoft OneNote. By syncing data between the two programs, users are able to access upcoming scheduled tasks from one central repository no matter which device they are using - such as an iPhone or Windows laptop - without needing any extra applications installed. Furthermore, creating and editing items on either program automatically sync across both platforms meaning time is not wasted manually duplicating changes made. In addition, features like Altcal's powerful reminders feature in combination with ICal's ability send alerts regarding due dates helps streamline workflows by reducing the risk of important deadlines slipping through cracks while providing almost identical functionality found in Microsoft OneNote.

Bug-fix and improvements update
Hello, friends!
Nobody brags about bugfix updates, but as Thomas Ooppong recently wrote, Don’t Pursue Perfection, Pursue Progress".
And what is that elusive 'user experience', if not contstant bug-fixing and improving the current product? And here is this year's first 'ux update' for the Checkvist desktop version.
Many thanks everyone for the help reporting and testing!
All things due
For some of you, organised people, Due page is a daily dashboard, and we are always eager to make it serve you better.
Now you can see the number of subtasks for every parent-level item that appears on the page. The shortcut to go to the task context is the same gg, but now you know when you need to press it before marking a task as 'done'.
We changed task sorting on the Due page. Now it's more predictive: due date -> priority -> text.
Search lists by exact due date, like due: June 07 or ^18-08-2018. It should work both for the filter and in the global search.
Attachments improvements
Embedded attachments are now shown in full-width at the bottom of the list item, like in this list for instance.
Besides, Checkvist now shows a progress bar when an attachment is uploaded via drag-and-drop or via img: smart syntax.
These are the first steps of a large attachments re-work. We are going to continue it in the next releases, and if you have any specific needs/scenarios that involve attachments—that's the right time to share them.
Ctrl-A for filtered lists
Smarter Ctrl-A behaviour: it selects filter-matched nodes first, and on subsequent Ctrl+A selects all visible nodes.
Clear multiple tags
When you have multiple tags appended to a list item (or several list items if you use bulk operations), selective tag deletion is really more convenient. Press ct, and select whether you want to delete just one tags or all of them:
And of course, if you have just one tag, ct will clear it straight away.
Progress counter: re-calculate in hours
By default, we count every 8 hours of work estimation as a 1 working day. 8h == 1d. But for those who wants to see the exact number of hours, there's now a tiny option:
Other fixes
New, more subtle priority colors
Smaller changes in the layout (progress counters are now placed outside the selection. That's just a start of a more global redesign, so be prepared :)
Moved 'time' tags, used for the progress counters/time estimation, to a separate tab on the Tags page. Do you miss them in the generic tag list?
Keep scroll position on Tags page after refresh, requested by Peter Thompson https://checkvist.uservoice.com/forums/2121-checkvist-web/suggestions/33064639-improve-tag-management-page-by-removing-whole-page
Fix bug when due records could be duplicated in the Calendar integration (thanks Ali Madooei) https://plus.google.com/u/0/+AliMadooei/posts/bR1HgsYbp4G?cfem=1
Another fix for Calendar integration—we've exchanged positions for list name and task text, to make task text readable on the first place https://checkvist.uservoice.com/forums/2121-checkvist-web/suggestions/5294183-option-to-turn-off-list-name-in-ical-fee-summary-f
Support Markdown checkboxes [ ] to support import from Dropbox Paper
Closing last task under parent collapses the closed parent
Remove Ctrl+PageUp/Ctrl+PageDown keyboard shortcuts as they conflicted with next tab/previous tab switching in FireFox (there is Alt+PageUp/Alt+PageDown alternative to move items to the top/bottom on their level)
Fix an annoying blinking when a list item has notes/attachments section shown and is modified
Fix a bug when keyboard navigation in repeating due dialog was not possible
Fix bug with incorrect rendering of the '#table' tag
Fix a performance issue with 'wipe' command when thousands of completed items are deleted from a list
We hope you'll like this update. And—onwards!

+ Kalkan Secrets and Kalkan Private Rentals.Changes for 2019 season About this time last year, Kalkan Secrets took over the Kalkan Private Rentals ("KPR") site from the previous management.Kalkan Private Rentals is based on the "Direct-to-Owner" model that was very successful for Owners Direct and Holiday Lettings (before they were taken over by Home Away and Trip Advisor respectively). With so much dissatisfaction surrounding the way those two multinationals were treating their customers, we felt that there was a need for a Kalkan-specialist direct-to-owner site that simply does what is says on the tin: put potential Kalkan holidaymakers in touch with the owners of holiday rental accommodation in and around Kalkan. So, when the KPR site became available, we felt that we could really make a difference. As at this time last years, the existing KPR site already functioned quite well and had a number of features that we found attractive, including: the ability for owners to log in and set up their own property listings and maintain their calendars without our involvement the ability for enquiries to be passed direct to owners, without our interference a simple, straightforward, easy-to-use design However, we felt it needed a number of vital improvements - all of which we have since introduced - including the following: Site security via "https" Location maps for each property Guest review capability These changes have been greatly welcomed (although not every owner is currently taking advantage of them!) and the site is now generating a healthy level of enquiries for engaged owners. Of course, we have needed to spend substantially on search engine optimisation, Google ads, Facebook promotions, etc., in order to improve visibility and drive more and more new visitors to the site. We introduced annual and monthly subscriptions to help pay for this ongoing work and KPR membership is now more than double what it was this time last year - and enquiries are up by 300% since we took over. We have further exciting plans to increase the success of this site over the coming months.During this time, we have been running the site alongside our well-established Kalkan Secrets site. As you may know, Kalkan Secrets is a commission based site with two levels of service for new members - Premium (15% commission and we handle the bookings) and Standard (5% commission and we pass all enquiries straight to the owner). We have a few legacy members who are on different arrangements but new owners registering their properties can currently choose one of the above models. (For a while, we also offered a subscription service on Kalkan Secrets for those owners who preferred not to be charged commission. However, we felt that this created a conflict of interest and upon acquiring the Kalkan Private Rentals site, we decided to withdraw the subscription-only listing option on Kalkan Secrets as this was, in effect, a duplication of the facility offered by KPR).During the last year, we have constructed a new website for Kalkan Secrets with a number of new features and this has been generally well received. However, a number of owners have found the new site difficult to manage alongside the old site and have found it confusing when juggling passwords - especially those owners who are also listed on KPR!!We also think there remains something of a conflict of interest on Kalkan Secrets, in that the 5% (direct to owner) listings on KS share the same platform as the 15% listings, for which we handle all the bookings. Clearly, this creates some potential for confusion for visitors, as they do not always know what level of service to expect.when making an enquiry. For these reasons, we have decided that with immediate effect, Kalkan Secrets will only feature "Premium" listings for new subscribers. The existing 5% "Standard" listing options will no longer be offered and existing listings will be withdrawn by 31st May 2019. Owners will therefore be faced with a simple choice of listing options Kalkan Secrets: a full-service proposition where we handle every aspect of the booking process, including guest liaison, receiving payments etc., in return for 15% commission on successful bookings Kalkan Private Rentals: a genuine Direct-To-Owner listing service for annual subscription only. We take no commission, just charge an annual subscription depending on the size of property. The annual subscription will be £110 for smaller properties (up to 3 bedrooms) and £130 for larger properties (4 bedrooms and above). Owners with more than one property will get a 30% discount on all subsequent properties. There will be a £10 initial submission fee per property for new subscribers, which provides a 30-day trial period before the annual subscription is taken. This will affect owners in the following ways: Existing Kalkan Secrets Premium listings - no change Existing Kalkan Secrets Standard listings - we will be happy to upgrade your listinmg to Premium. Alternatively, you may transfer your listing to the KPR site free of charge (ie. no submission fee) and we will provide a month's free trial before requesting the first annual subscription (if you decide to list at the end of the free trial period). You will receive a 10% discount off your first annual subscription. Please email [email protected] Existing KPR listings (annual subscription); no change until the next renewal date, when the new annual fee will apply. However, to reward your loyalty, we have introduced a "Founder member" lifetime discount of 10% for all existing KPR members as at 1st May 2018. This applies from next renewal Existing KPR listings (monthly subscription); we will not be offering the monthly subscription going forward. You may continue on the existing arrangement indefinitely, but if you agree to change from monthly to annual at the new rate within three months, we will apply a discount of 30% to your first annual subscription as an incentive We believe that these changes will make things a lot simpler for owners and visitors alike. And us, for that matter! No more multiple passwords/log-in details, and no more conflicts of interest. For owners who want a genuine direct-to-owner site, the new and improved Kalkan Private Rentals can be used as your main calendar and booking portal, if you wish; it can send or receive iCal feeds, facilitating its use as either "master" or "slave" when blocking out dates, according to your requirements. (We strongly encourage, and can provide straightforward instructions on using iCal in conjunction with other booking sites such as HomeAway, TripAdvisor, AirBnB etc. Just ask for our iCal guide). We will be contacting owners shortly to explain how these changes will affect them individually, but please don't hesitate to contact us in the meantime if you have any immediate questions about these developments.Kind regardsMartyn and FionaKalkan Secrets / Kalkan Private Rentals

Are you looking for help using Altcal with iCal to achieve the same function as OneNote? If so, then consider this post your guide to setting up and utilizing Altcal and iCal in tandem.
First, let’s look at what exactly these two programs do. Altcal is an open-source calendar management application that enables users to store their calendars and related events online without requiring any additional software installed on the client machine. It also includes tools for managing different types of events, including tasks, alarms and reminders. iCal is Apple's own built-in calendar program included as part of macOS (formerly Mac OS X). It allows users to quickly view upcoming appointments or scheduled tasks right within their desktop environment without needing any extra applications installed.
Now that we have a better understanding of both Altcal and iCal let’s move onto how they can be used together to create a similar experience to Microsoft OneNote. By syncing your data from each program into one central repository you will be able to access all your upcoming scheduled tasks from one place irrespective of which device you use them on – be it an iPhone or Windows laptop – ensuring productivity workflow remains uninterrupted no matter where you are working from! Furthermore, when creating new items in either application those updates will automatically sync across both platforms meaning any changes made won’t need manually duplicated across multiple systems saving time when it comes updating schedules or logging activities!
Using Altcal's powerful reminders feature alongside ICal’s ability automatically send alerts regarding due dates helps streamline workflows by reducing the risk having important deadlines slip through cracks – resulting increased productivity overall! With integration between these two programs providing almost identical functionality found in Microsoft OneNote there really isn't much more needed other than some occasional maintenance keep everything running smoothly over time!
So if you've been struggling balance life/work commitments while trying maintain rigid control over multiple devices then look no further than Altcal & ICal combination! Not only does this setup offer great convenience & efficiency but peace mind knowing every task has been accounted for accurately& securely ensuring progress never grinds halt unexpectedly - giving total confidence focus maximum effort where truly needed most!.
