Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation has reacted to the arrest of Senator Ademola Adeleke by the Nigeria Police. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Osun was arrested Monday evening. Force spokesman, Mr. Frank Mba, explained that Adeleke was picked up for a criminal offence. Reacting, Fani-Kayode called on President Muhammadu Buhari to leave Sen Adeleke alone According to him, Sen. Adeleke will become Governor of Osun state no matter the level of harassment. Fani-Kayode wrote: “Buhari for God sake stop this madness and leave Demola Adeleke alone! “Detaining Him will not help you. whether you like it or not he will be sworn in as Governor of Osun state. “IMOLE TI DE! You will not and cannot rob the people of Osun or Deny them their choice.”

Omisore reportedly agrees to work with Adeleke to ensure his victory in Osun rerun A report which has gone viral on social media, alleges that Iyiola Omisore of the SDP who pulled over 120k votes in the just concluded election in Osun State which was declared inconclusive, has agreed to work with PDP’s candidate, Ademola Adeleke to ensure his victory in the Osun rerun election.   Former Minister of Aviation and PDP Chieftain, Femi Fani-Kayode, who first dropped hint of the merger in the Osun rerun election, wrote; I am so proud of the @OfficialPDPNig in Osun.Congrats to my friend and brother Demola Adeleke. We reported that INEC fixed September 27th, for Osun State governorship election rerun . The election umpire had on Sunday declared the election inconclusive based on an INEC technicality. INEC Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology , Akure , Prof Joseph Fowape , while announcing the results said the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party , Ademola Adeleke, polled 254, 698 votes to defeat that of the All Progressives Congress , Gboyega Oyetola , who polled 254, 345 votes . However, due to irregularities which marred the election at some polling units in Ife North , Ife South and Orolu local government areas, including cases of card reader malfunctioning, ballot box snatching , among others, this led to the cancellation of 3, 498 votes recorded in the affected polling units. Quoting INEC’s Standing Rules at the commission’s headquarters in Osogbo, the state capital , Fowape, said since the margin between the two leading candidates was lower than the registered cancelled votes , the election had to be declared inconclusive . He stated that a rerun would take place at the affected polling units on Thursday , September 27, 2018.     Read the full article
