In this series of short video clips, I explore volumetric filmmaking applied to dance & choregraphy.
Using depthkit‘s volumetric video capture software, I re-shot, virtually, the various improvised performances, after they had been filmed. This allowed me to get much closer to the performers, to follow them around and ⁄ or to adjust or re-think the camera position and the camera movements.

Xingu Ensemble & Xingu Village
An artistic immersion at Xingu, one of the native cultures of Brazil resulted in two amazing XR experiences.
With the mission to preserve and spread the culture and native rituals of Xingu natives, we use a series of cutting edge technologies to captured not only the audiovisual, but the emotions and the little details contained in every daily ritual of Xingu people.
Volumetric Videos, Spatial Audio, 360 3D Videos, 3D scans are some of the example assets captured during the immersion period, and the source material for two XR experiences.
Xingu Ensemble
A Virtual Reality experience, where you can explore some of the Xingu’s forests represented by a dense pointcloud captured with 3D scanners. You can freely fly like a bird or crawl like a snake while hearing a tale in Carib (Kuikuro’s official language).

Xingu Village
A Real World Anchored experience where the users can point the devices to physical objects brought from Xingu, and see in AR an hologram of one of the Xingu’s native showing how they use that object while explaining its meaning, all subtitled in english.

Kickstarter campaign for project by Asad J. Malik is a Mixed Reality documentary using DepthKit captures and Microsoft Hololens, on the subject of US Muslim students and their experiences:

Put on the Hololens and take a walk, stopping to meet holograms of numerous Muslim college students of distinct identities as they are questioned by an unseen interlocutor. Watch and listen as these interrogations become startlingly intimate encounters between you and them.
Augmented Reality allows for the viewer to deeply empathize with the characters since they appear to be in the same room.
Whenever you look at the holograms, they share rich personal stories. Stories of childhood, family, work, faith, lack of faith, war, privilege, sex, drugs, youth, love, and a life far from home. Stories of ideologies from complex humans that contradict each other and themselves.

The Ancient Narrative - Adam and Eve - the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil - the Forbidden Fruit - that Tempting Icon. The promise of connection and transcendence. But it’s a mirage at best - corrupting and distorting - yet with unknowable power over us - in it’s attraction and it’s promise of how it might enrich our lives. It’s a bad replica - and today with everything that’s happening around us, we are extremely aware of its deficiencies - it’s inability to replace the REAL. What we crave - it can’t fully give us. Connection and transcendence has to be experienced in the seen, felt and heard of real human contact.

RePangeia
RePangeia is a VR multiplayer experience exposed at Museum of Tomorrow, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In the experience the players are in an ethereal environment that appears to be damaged, they are then guided by a virtual shaman through a dance ritual to restore the health of the environment they're in and unite the distant lands into one, referring the ancient super continent Pangaea.
The players main source of input are their physical hands, represented as magical energy hands in the game, and they can use it to interact with other players and with the environment.
RePangeia is also the first accessible VR experience exposed at Museum of Tomorrow, and it counts with an audio descriptive mode for people with vision limitations and a sign language mode for people with hearing limitations.
