Hit and Run (2009)

Okay. So, from about 15 minutes in, this movie stops making sense completely.

This girl drives home after having a drink. Now, I definitely don’t condone drunk driving, but she gets in the car and walks in a relatively straight line, and she’s not slurring her words. Maybe she shouldn’t be driving, but that’s beyond the point.

She gets in her Jeep Wrangler, and she drives home. On a backroad, she sees a tire in the middle of the street, and she swerves to miss it. She hops the curb a bit, missing some trees, and she safely touches all wheels back down on the road. She gets OUT of the Jeep, looks around, and sees the tire is missing, and some truck whizzes by her, no swerving involved. She looks perplexed, but shrugs and gets back in her Jeep. 

She goes home. She walks around her car, no visible problems with it, and she goes inside and goes to sleep. She wakes up in the middle of the night, hearing noises coming from the garage. She grabs a flashlight, because the bulb burns out, and she looks around. She finds a mangled body attached to the front of her car. 

Now... here’s where I’m completely irritated. Yes, being drunk impairs your ability to drive. I’ve been fairly drunk in the past (not driving), and I have NEVER hallucinated. And I assume if you’re ever too drunk to know what’s going on around you, you’re probably tipsy when you walk. You’re probably slurring your words. You’re probably VERY VISIBLY DRUNK. This girl? None of the above. She’s coherent. She’s walking in straight lines. She’s not stumbling. You’d never know she was drunk.

But somehow... she manages to miss the fact that she totally hit a dude with her car? Because she had hallucinated it was a tire... which she missed...

SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS SHIT TO ME.

50 -5 for giving in to peer pressure +5 for cherry red Jeep Wrangler with a soft top -20 for making literally no sense whatsoever -10 for purposefully ramming into a tree to cover up the original damage -10 for the WORST boyfriend ever -10 for lack of explanation behind zombie guy. Is he a zombie? What the fuck is happening in this film right now? -10 for the bizarre assumption that mental illness makes people come back from the dead and start murdering the people they love
