contact sheets(nature)

This was my first shoot, this was when I started to have my idea of combining architecture and nature.
SECOND SHOOT:

I was mostly focus on getting close ups during this shoot. This was near temple meads as well.
THIRD SHOOT:

This was from my last shoot in Ashton court. I went here because I wanted to get wildlife in my videos and also landscapes from nature. I also shoot videos for nature in Brandon hill but I didn’t do many pictures. I mostly went there to get panoramic shots from Cabot tower.

Colour Management
We learnt about colour management when we were printing for our exhibition, this was so we knew how to print large prints and the correct settings to do this at a high quality
First we had to ensure in Photoshop that the photo was set to Adobe RGB instead of sRGB, this ensures that the correct colours and tones are being used within the image when printed.
Then in Lightroom I made sure that the short edge was set to 60cm, so that the image was printed at the correct size
You then have to set/check that the dpi is set to 300dpi, this can be done when exporting in Lightroom or when checking the image size in Photoshop
Once at the printing monitor the images sharpness was decreased to 120%, as before this too much detail could be seen on her face e.g. her pours could be seen too clearly

When on the printing monitor, the colour handling was set to “photoshop manages colour”

The printer profile was set to Oyster (the setting seen in the above picture). This is the paper that the photograph will be printed on, so will ensure the best quality

Here is my final print, this image was taken from our shoot with Sheika

I am really looking forward to showing this at the exhibition
Putting it into practise
Here is me looking at one of the images I chose for my final prints, when exporting I made sure that the file was an Adobe RGB and was at 300dpi so that there was enough detail for printing
When editing my images I also made sure that my screen was properly calibrated to ensure that I was seeing the correct colours on the screen as to how they would be printed
Here is a screenshot of exporting this image as the correct size file and correct colour for accurate printing

Contact sheets (architecture)

This is from two shoots I had. The first ones were near Temple meads and it was the first shoots I did for architecture. It was just to start trying shooting architecture with a digital camera because before that I only did it with the film camera.
The last contact sheet is from a shoot in Millennium square as a result of my research about places but I didn’t like the buildings in there, so I didn’t use this photos at the end.
SECOND SHOOT:

This was in Cabot circus and it was when I started making videos. This is just most of the pictures, because they were a lot to put all of them which were very similar.

Digital practice evaluation
This was one of the hardest and at the same time enjoyable things I have done. I really liked to learn about this because is something completely new.
I decided to shoot architecture because last semester doing film photography I started to get into this new genre. I wanted to see how I do shooting architecture in color and with digital cameras. I was shooting nature one day and the idea of combining both started to come up. Nature and architecture are different but similar at the same time. This wasn’t a easy idea to me and I struggled to represent it.
Doing this project I had to learn something from zero, doing videos wasn’t as easy as I thought. I had to do research on equipment, on how to do video shots, editing... it was a lot to learn but at the end I felt very motivated and I started to have a growing interest in making videos. The more I was shooting videos the better I was getting and also the more I keep watching videos tutorials on you tube the more I feel like I could have done things differently and better. Learning more about videos made me be critical about my work and I knew It could be better. Visually this module made me look videos in a different way, now I think about how they did those shots, the angles they are taking that video, how did they edit the video...in order for me to research it and do it too. Also about the sound, I never paid so much attention to it and this module helped me to learn that.
It was a big challenge to try and shoot things in two different locations constantly, but I also learned to know the place I am at. Through this project I learned about Bristol and I found places I should be going to take pictures. Researching places is very good to do for photographers. Not only that, this module also started to get me into a new photographic genre which is landscape. I never shoot this style and I after watching my pictures I knew they could be better so now I want to shoot landscape when I have the opportunity and improve my skills doing so.
I have now a better understanding on how to shoot videos at the best quality and also how to edit and maintain my computer in excellent quality. Before I didn’t know this things and knowing this made me more professional when I am printing my work.

Final 3 pictures

Even though they are all from architecture except the last one I thought this 3 images worked really well together. The colors the shots are working well to create a good series of photos.

Editing my final pictures
I was choosing the clips for y video that had the best landscapes and close ups to get the best final pictures.
Here are some screenshots when I was editing in Photoshop camera raw filter.
In here I tried to get rid of a spider web or something like that this flower had at the bottom.
And here is the final look getting rid of that.
Here some more edits in camera raw.
HOW I SELECT MY FINALS:
After watching my all my pictures several I knew that some of the best shoots were the last ones from nature and architecture and most of my finals are form those shoots.

This is a contact sheet I made to see all the pictures I selected, all this are edited pictures. While I was watching this final picture I realized that even though some of those close ups pictures from nature were nice they were not blending with the rest and look like they don’t belong to the group. So I had to discard the pink flower and about the yellow one I was not too sure I think it matches with the color of some of the buildings just like the light yellow flower. About architecture I decided that the picture from Cabot circus in the night with the bridge was having the same effect as the ones of the flower, it was breaking the series. Most of the pictures were in the day with a bright light and sky blue tones and that one didn’t meet those requirements to be part of the group of 10 pictures.
So then I discard the picture of the white building on the left side. And then I chose one of the Bristol landscapes the best in my opinion was the one with color houses because it draws your attention there, the other landscapes were not very good.

My video from the second edit
I was a lot happier with this second video and I think Is going to be my final video I also tried to do later on color corrections, here are some screenshots as evidence. And also the video I watched to adjust the color with luts.
youtube
I was doing this to many shots but I didn’t end up exporting the video because I thought It was looking over saturated, I felt I was making the video worse. I will try to do it again if I have time, however I wanted to show this as evidence that I learned more things in premier pro apart from doing zooms and change the speed.
My final video:
