Our fic on AO3:
The Coldest Form of Warm - Sirius Black / Barty Crouch Jr.
A multichapter fan fiction about Sirius Black and Barty Crouch. It is canon compliant and fills in all the gaps in their relationship. It starts 1974 and will cover everything up until Sirius' final years - from the good years to very, very, very bad years. The story is already completed and we will update it on a regular basis. We are so happy about everyone who reads it!
(Explicit and with graphic depictions of violence & major character death (don't blame us, blame canon!))
🖤
And also: Fuck JKR!

sirius being concerned about barty cus he's heard what kind of man his father is so he makes reg ask barty to come home with them during summer break (in an au where walburga is a better mother) and barty stays in reg's bed cause it's big enough for both of them, except he sneaks out at night and climbs into sirius' bed instead.

Sirius and Barty (for the parallels challenge)
Oh, this is a good one!
— so, from the top, their upbringings were somewhat similar in the sense that they were raised in pureblood families (exposure to the wizarding world, etc.)
— complicated parental relationships
— we know that barty got 12 OWLs and that sirius was said to be super smart, too, so it’s safe to say they were both academic weapons
— they both rebelled against their families. sirius rejected their beliefs (& their support of voldemort) and joined the order of the phoenix. barty, who’s father worked at the ministry (against voldemort), rejected that path and joined voldemort instead.
— they were both sent to azkaban by the same person (bartemius crouch sr.)
— barty was the first person who broke out of azkaban (with help) and sirius was the first one who broke out of azkaban (without help)
— loyalty !! barty was extremely loyal to voldemort, and sirius was to james. we see how barty reacted to death eaters like lucius malfoy—he hated them for having deserted voldemort. like, he was disgusted by their cowardice and all. obviously, with sirius and peter, there were much more history there, but sirius felt that way about him, too.
— another thing is i think they were both willing to go as far as it took with their respective sides. for example, regulus did not have the heart to keep supporting voldemort when he discovered the lengths of his evil, but barty chose that path and he saw it through. same with sirius, if he had to kill for the right side, he would.
— they could be cruel if they want to be and they could also be empathetic when they want to be

can u pls pls plssss draw more barty‼️‼️‼️‼️
Hello dearrrrrr
I know it might be not what you expect, but since it’s Barty, here’s a little art of him when he was little 🙏
Tumblr media
Idk why I see him being like those quiet and sad little kids. Also he was most likely emotionally neglected by his father too.
I don’t know, I really like the idea of him being the complete opposite of the current Barty. It would be interesting to see how he changed through years 😔
Also I am in between canon blonde barty side & fanon brunette Barty side, because I see him being actually blonde, but dying his hair brown (with green strikes).
It was really fun to render too 🫶

more smart sirius black headcanons because we need content of him being intelligent <3
people come to him for help on essays. he asks to be paid in cigarettes (when he runs out of the stash he made before starting school) for writing essays
two of his best subjects are charms and defence against the dark arts; he pleasantly surprised both of his teachers when he proved to be good at both nonverbal and wandless magic
finds boring things that don’t stimulate his intellect — however, if things pique his interest, he can spend days researching the topic, and therefore has a wide range of knowledge that he doesn’t need in day to day life
although he’s not particularly active in class (unless the topic/subject is something he enjoys), his essays and particular work are never less than flawlessly executed
all of his essays are always a few good centimetres above the required length, and they always are interesting and insightful, coming with more information than asked for
(writes essays and creative writing for fun)
kept a small, leather notebook and a ball pan on him around at all times, in case he needed to jot down any kind of ideas
has a wide-ranged vocabulary, and likes discussing the various wordings and the words’ meaning in classic and post-classic literature alike
was the first person in their year to apparate, and it only took him a few lessons to get it right; however, he never splinched himself

We did it again! Just a soft little oneshot about Bartys and Sirius' life with a happy end (very atypical for us, we know). Have fun reading!
(I don't need) a cure for me

barty crouch junior is twisted, but there is more to him.
i understand that it's appealing to turn barty into this rebellious, crazy, fucked-up version that he will later become. aren't we missing out on the chance to give barty some kind of character development that connects his later actions to what this character experiences and suffers? for me, it's much more interesting if barty isn't the fucked-up slytherin version of sirius, but deals differently with the challenges presented to him in childhood and adolescence in a way where he initially tries to live up to what his father presumably demands of him. doesn't it have much more potential if the friendship with evan and regulus influences and changes him, perhaps giving him power and influence? we have the chance to tell how barty becomes the death eater we later get to know (and who, in his twisted way and unlike many others, is brilliant). please, give this character a dimension or two
thanks for coming to my ted talk.

true, but there is a really nice AU, where it's barty in gryffindor & sirius in slytherin
hear me out:
if it's barty x evan or barty x regulus then barty's in ravenclaw (canon)
if it's barty x sirius then barty's in slytherin

epilogue
Barty had seen Sirius languishing in a life that was no longer his.
That was why he had started calling for Sirius. Mostly at night and in his dreams and then during the day too. Sometimes he had touched Sirius, put his hand gently on his shoulder. Of course Sirius couldn't feel him, but maybe he could? Their bond had been so irrational and so devoid of reason, they had suffered so much and yet held on to each other. Barty knew that he had betrayed Sirius last and that Sirius would have been willing to go with him. They could have fled, to a faraway place and tried to see if their love could save them both.
And now Sirius was here, he was really here.
Barty was crying without realising it. His hands shook and when Sirius stood up and pushed himself into his arms without hesitation, he shook under his sobs.
When the Dementors had removed his soul from his body, they had removed the part of Barty that was hopeless and disorientated. They had taken away the evil, the madness, the result of his life. What they hadn't been able to take away was the young Barty who loved Sirius with all his heart.
The Barty who loved Sirius so much that he hadn't been able to die.
Not really, strictly speaking.

If I could live my life over again, I would do a lot of things exactly the same. Fall in love with you, for example. Make sure that you fall in love with me too. But I would also do some things very differently: I would hold on to you as tightly as I could. I would look after you, really listen, really look. I would realise that there are things you can't tell me and I would save you. I wouldn't let you go - not after my last year at school on the track in London, not after the Christmas holidays with me in Manchester, not a few years ago, after Azkaban. If I could live my life again, there would be no you and no me, there would only be us
Which is how it is today: I haven't existed since you left me.
And you no longer exist either.
Barty, I love you and I will always love you and I am convinced that we will meet again one day.
Then I will take your hand and kiss you and never let you go again.

chapter 48 | bartys death
Life was not fair, never had been for Bartemius Crouch Junior.
Both convictions without a real trial, without a chance to defend himself, without a silver lining. Sirius had kept him alive, back in school and then again later, when they had spent those years together in Azkaban.
Sirius had given him hope, an illusory hope for things that would never change or improve, a dangerous hope that things could somehow get better. The chance had never been real, had sometimes felt real and then not, had given Barty hope and then robbed him of it, had felt delicious and then painful again. Barty knew that he had squandered the chance for a different life, that he could have done things differently, that Sirius would have held him, picked him up and carried him. In the end it was his fault, in the end he hadn't been able to imagine a different life for himself, had lost too much, had given too much.
The little boy Sirius had seen at Platform 9 ¾ no longer existed. He had disappeared behind fear and pain.
Sirius could have saved him, but Barty hadn't let himself be saved, hadn't seen the outstretched hand, hadn't trusted himself or Sirius.
How could he trust, how could he believe that the people around him could have saved him? How could he trust that Sirius wouldn't drop him in the end?
His father had tortured him, trimmed him, forced him into shape and tugged at him, abused him and taken away everything that could have saved him. His mother had not protected him, had not intervened, had not stood in front of him. She had let her husband have his way. In the end, she had died for him, given him ten more years of torment and made sure that Barty wasn't allowed to die just like that.
He had fulfilled his role, his fate had been inevitable in the end. So many twists and turns, so many choices had opened up for him and in the end they had all led to this moment, to this finality.
