When the opening scene showed Lahore, Pakistan, my sister and I burst out laughing because OF COURSE. Bollywood making Pakistani Muslims the bad guys?GROUNDBREAKING! 🙄

I was a bit nervous because I thought the film would be super nationalistic and anti-Pakistan because I did NOT spend $30 to watch desh bakht shit. But I’m glad it wasn’t like that because so many films in this genre are. Like, stop fucking preaching and being annoying.

SRK was absolutely fucking delicious. Each look was better than the last. There’s just something about a dirty, scrungly looking man and he made me weak af. Watching Besharam Rang on the big screen and seeing him shirtless? Especially when he ran to Deepika’s room looking like THAT? Whew! I was literally feeling like a dog in heat lmaoooo

His hairstyle was giving off Eren Jaeger vibes 1000% and that’s all I could think about.

Pathaan’s backstory about Afghanistan was really sweet and wholesome. I love how they all helped him in the end, because I kind of had a feeling that’s what was going on.

John Abraham as Jim, oh my godddd. He was so sexy and played a great villain. I’m so glad he’s lean again because that super muscular, beefcake look he had going on for a few years was not attractive. I felt really sorry for Jim and what happened to him. It was understandable why he became a villain. I thought it was an interesting detail that he basically had no loyalty to any country and was doing it for a personal reason instead.

Deepika. Lord. That woman is a goddess. She was absolutely badass. I like that she played a Pakistani character and how just because someone from her country is bad, doesn’t mean everyone else is and she doesn’t consider his actions as something Pakistan as a whole is doing/agrees with. Basically that guy alone is an extremist and she would never condone his actions because she actually loves her country just like Pathaan loves his. The way the Besharam Rang lyrics literally described her character and motives, I was shook.

When she was like “Trust me, Pathaan” with those puppy dog eyes? I was like “BABY I TAKE U BACK!”

I think SRK & Deepika had amazing chemistry and the sexual tension! Especially when he was changing her bandages. Sorry girl, but I would have let Pathaan hit it.

I know this website hates a certain Khan but I really enjoyed his special appearance and the banter between Tiger & Pathaan. The Karan Arjun reference!!! Too bad it was spoiled for me by Reddit, ugh.

Dimple Kapadia was so stunning! I want to age like her. I cried when her character died.

I was nervous that Ashutosh Rana’s character was going to talk shit about Pakistan and say how we all suck at the end, but thankfully that didn’t happen.

The pre-credits scene of Pathaan & Tiger was absolutely fucking gold. It’s like, they were talking about their job as agents but also irl how they rule Bollywood and none of these hoes can reach their level. So meta.

Love how Pathaan said he was going to see his hairdresser to get shampoo but then stayed looking hobo af in the very next scene (the Jhoome Jo Pathaan song)

Overall, I really enjoyed the movie and it was great seeing my man back on the big screen after 6 years 🥰

i like srk as the celebrity he is. he's definitely an emotion for the millenial and gen z generations. he's so suave, so charming, the show of humility, yes, wonderful. but truthfully, it was fucking painful to sit through pathaan.

i absolutely hated the movie and the characters. dimple kapadia was the only saving grace in the movie and they offed her. i wish they'd given deepika padukone's character more substance instead of just making her show her thighs every 15 mins and being the plot explainer for kids.

what's with the childish dialogues man. the dialogue delivery of every actor fell fucking flat. it felt like a school skit. she has like 3 expressions in the whole movie.

i can still excuse the fact that they're driving on the same patch of road again and again in the dubai sequence, but why are they flying their helicopters in between the gaps of buildings. and nobody does anything about it? they crash their cars in one of the busy squares and chit chat about the recent happenings in their lives for a good 5 mins and not a single soul is around in broad fucking daylight. only after their conversation is over will they realize that the other guys leg is stuck somewhere and their petrol is leaking. the fuck were the rest of them in the car doing all this while?

which raw agent would beat up fellow raw agents to run away with an isi agent to solve a case they were GONNA HAVE TO SOLVE WITH RAW ANYWAY.

if they were gonna name the virus raktbeej why not actually give it some mythological connotation. also what is with pathaan referring to himself in third person all the time. stop. i see ppl thirsting over the main actors and like, i get the aesthetic but cmon it doesn't helpppppp. i couldnt even appreciate her machine gun sequence in the end because it felt like a replica of vikram and just seemed so forced. like a desperate attempt at convincing themselves and the audience that yes, she's not here just for plot advancement. her backstory added nothing to her character.

such an excruciating movie. it was like a collage of multiple movies mashed together the night before the submission. i can't believe im saying this, but war seemed more realistic. ATLEAST it had good music. i dont get the hype behind besharam rang and jhoome jo pathaan either. what am i missing here. especially jhoome jo pathaan. like besharam ramg still had a sliver of tune to vibe to, i died laughing at the cat puking dance step she does in the beginning of the song. what the fuck is jhoome jo pathaan.

imagine a raw agent being told by his boss to get to work, and he replies with "i got a date with my isi agent girlfriend. see ya later" what is this, a start up? the characters of shahrukh khan and deepike padukone felt like a big insult to actual agents.

Bollywood Movies Part CCVII

Roommates Sid (Dulquer Salmaan) and Kallis (Rakshan) fall for Meera (Ritu Varma) and Shreya (Niranjani Ahathian) respectively. Sid and Kallis are also criminals, using technology to commit crimes such as stripping computers and selling the parts and then returning the computers with inferior components and theft. When DCP Prathap (Gautham Vasudev Menon) starts tracking their crimes, Kallis and Sid decide to go to Goa with Meera and Shreya and their ill gotten gains. However, they discover that Meera and Shreya are con artists after they leave with the boys’ money.

Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal is a fun movie that has romance, betrayal, a chase, and a heist. I don’t have much to say about it except that it was enjoyable and entertained me. Favorite songs are Sirikkalam Parakkalam, Ennai Vittu, and Kanave Nee Naan. None of the songs have subtitles.

When Champak’s (Irrfan Khan) feud with his cousin Gopi (Deepak Dobriyal) over using the family name for their competing sweets shops causes his daughter Tarika (Radhika Madan) to lose her scholarship to a university in England, Champak decides to help her get in no matter what.

Angrezi Medium is a great film about family, especially the relationship between parents and their children. It’s lots of fun and heartwarming. I enjoyed the parallel shown between Champak and Tarika’s relationship  and Naina (Kareena Kapoor Khan) and Mrs. Kohli’s (Dimple Kapadia) relationship. Favorite songs are Ek Zindagi (English subtitles) and Samajh Ni Pavega (no subtitles, stills and audio).

Anupama Bannerji (Sanya Malhotra) decides to sue her mother Shakuntala Devi (Vidya Balan) for selling Anu’s business properties and keeping the profit for herself. During the settlement meetings for the case, Shakuntala’s rise to fame as “The Human Computer” is depicted.

Shakuntala Devi is extremely biased as the creatives only based the movie on Anupama Bannerji’s narrative and did not bother to do anything other than superficial research into the events in the movie. While I enjoyed learning about Shakuntala Devi, I think the film does her a disservice. Favorite song is Rani Hindustani (no subtitles).

Content-wise, it promises to be a love story with a difference and now it has come to light that the film also has a surprise for the audience.

It turns out that popular actor Janhvi Kapoor has a special appearance in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. She appears at a crucial juncture in the film and adds a nice touch to the narrative. The lady as she identified was Rajesh's gf Anju Mahendroo, & so inconsolable did this girl get at this combination of sights, ran away from the scene in absolute strife, as if disaster had struck. The name of the girl was Dimple Kapadia.

REMINDS ME OF A FILM CALLED 'MASTERJI' ! 🤣

Moving on to fan anecdotes.

Another pre-teen & teen, called Reena Roy would also follow the same routine, albeit much later, for yrs on end, ie keep waiting for a glimpse of her favorite superstar for hrs & days on end outside his house, & recounts how situation outside the megastar's bungalow over time began to get so serious, that the city's police were genuinely worried for a actual riot breaking out, & perhaps so in consultation with Rajesh, had a special Police Stn constructed just behind his bungalow, just for his protection, which still stands till today! All these events transpiring in front of the eyes of all Bandra residents incl Reena.

"One of the first things I grabbed hold of from the book, as I was reading it the first time, was you realize that Los Alamos, which would become so important in history, is just this place [where] he and his brother liked to go camping," says Nolan.
