How long does a divorce take in Texas?
The duration of a divorce in Texas can vary widely depending on several factors, including the complexity of the case, whether it is contested or uncontested, and local court procedures. In general, the minimum waiting period for a divorce to be finalized in Texas is 60 days from the date the divorce petition is filed. The Criminal Attorney Houston Tx also plays a vital role.
Tumblr media
However, it's important to note that this waiting period is just the minimum required by law. In reality, most divorces take longer to resolve, especially if there are significant disagreements regarding issues such as child custody, property division, or spousal support.
Uncontested divorces, where both spouses agree on all terms of the divorce, tend to be quicker and more straightforward. In such cases, the divorce may be finalized shortly after the 60-day waiting period, assuming all necessary paperwork is in order and the court's docket allows for timely processing.
Minimum Waiting Period: In Texas, there is a mandatory waiting period of 60 days from the date the divorce petition is filed before a divorce can be finalized. This waiting period is intended to give couples time to reconsider their decision and potentially reconcile. However, it's important to note that even if both parties agree on all terms of the divorce, the divorce cannot be finalized before this 60-day waiting period expires. The Divorce Lawyer Houston help you to make the things easier.
Contested vs. Uncontested Divorce: The complexity of the divorce proceedings can significantly impact the timeline. In uncontested divorces, where both parties agree on all terms, including division of assets, child custody, and support, the process can be relatively swift and may be finalized shortly after the mandatory waiting period. On the other hand, contested divorces, where there are disputes over various issues, can take much longer to resolve and may require multiple court hearings and negotiations.
Court Caseload: The caseload of the family courts in Texas can also influence the timeline of a divorce. If the court has a backlog of cases, it may take longer for your case to be heard and resolved. Delays in scheduling hearings and obtaining court orders can prolong the divorce process. The divorce lawyer Houston easily caseload the things.
Complexity of Issues: Divorces involving complex financial assets, business interests, or contentious child custody disputes may require more time to resolve. Additional time may be needed for discovery, mediation, and negotiation to reach a settlement agreement.
On the other hand, contested divorces, where spouses cannot agree on one or more key issues, can take significantly longer to resolve. These cases may require mediation, negotiation, or even litigation, which can extend the divorce lawyer Houston process by months or even years.
Ultimately, the timeline for a divorce in Texas is highly variable and depends on the unique circumstances of each case. It's advisable to consult with a knowledgeable divorce attorney who can provide guidance tailored to your specific situation and help you navigate the process efficiently.

Selfless self promo right here, if you're looking for a Cas and Dean drama full of action and lots of love, check out Pine Needles! It's almost finished, there are only two chapters and an epilogue left!
- Dean just got through a rough divorce and a near death experience. His little brother, who is a successful lawyer, and the chief of the Houston Police Department, who has a love-hate relationship with Dean, make Dean sign his retirement papers. With that his fifteen-year long career comes to a tragic end.
At the age of thirty-seven with nothing but the title “Sergeant” to his name and an old Chevrolet Impala in his garage that needs a good fix, all he has is his brother. Some time passes and after Dean’s shown no improvement when it comes to his mental health, Sam decides to make one of Dean’s biggest dream come true. That’s why he sends his brother to Helena, Montana.
There Dean gets to live in a beautiful house: the interior is cozy, his backyard is the open forest and he just happens to have an annoying babysitter hired by his brother to make sure he doesn’t kill himself, accidentally or not.
His physical therapist, a dorky little guy with a dirty trench coat and a huge cowboy hat, challenges Dean and pushes him beyond his limits. Though they do not always see eye to eye, there is just something about the snarky physical therapist that keeps calling out to Dean.

Visit Tamara de Lempicka’s First U.S. Retrospective in San Francisco This October
by Kate Mothes - Colossal, August 13, 2024
Tumblr media
“Young Girl in Green (Young Girl with Gloves)” (c. 1931), oil on board, 24 1/4 x 17 7/8 inches. Digital image © CNAC/MNAM, Dist. RMN-Grand Palais / Art Resource, New York, courtesy of Centre Pompidou, Paris.
Nearly one hundred years after Tamara de Lempicka (1894-1980) first exhibited her work in San Francisco, a sweeping survey of the storied and glamorous artist opens again in the city. This October, at the de Young—part of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco—the show marks the artist’s first U.S. retrospective and illuminates new details about her life.
de Lempicka’s bold, stylized figures have become synonymous with the 1920s, an era characterized by opulence, sophistication, and youthful optimism. She incorporates Art Deco design elements, like geometric facets, tonal contrasts, and city architecture framing idealized faces and flowing, fashionable garments. She sought to create recognizable paintings with a freshness and clarity that set them apart from what she called the “banality” of art she saw around her. And among other Art Deco-era painters like Diego Rivera or Rockwell Kent, who often painted large murals featuring crowds of people, de Lempicka distinguished herself by focusing predominantly on portraits.
The artist’s early life has long been a source of fascination. For years, she was thought to have been born Tamara Rozalia Gurwik-Górska in 1894—although she claimed variously that she was born in 1898, 1900, and 1902—but recent research reveals her birth name was Tamara Rosa Hurwitz. She moved to Saint Petersburg, where she married a prominent Polish lawyer named Tadeusz Łempicki, and then traveled to Paris, where she studied painting. “At the beginning of her career, de Lempicka chose to sign her works using the male declination of her surname, ‘Lempitzky,’ effectively disguising her gender and adding to the confusion surrounding her origin story,” says an exhibition statement.
By 1928, de Lempicka had become the mistress of Baron Raoul Kuffner de Dioszegh, a wealthy art collector, and she divorced from Łempicki in 1931. When Kuffner’s wife died, the artist married Kuffner, and she became known in the press as “The Baroness with a Brush.” The couple moved to the U.S. in 1939, and although her work fell out of fashion during World War II, a 1960s revival of Art Deco style ushered in a comeback. She eventually moved to Mexico in 1974, where she died in 1980.
More than 120 of de Lempicka’s works will go on view in San Francisco, including her most celebrated portraits, early experimental still lifes, rarely seen drawings, and a selection of Art Deco objects from the Fine Arts Museums’ collection. Tamara de Lempicka runs October 12, 2024, to February 9, 2025, after which it will travel to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, from March 9 to May 25. Find more on the de Young’s website.

Wonder why his ex-wife felt the need to keep her pregnancy a secret and why the help she received in ending the pregnancy “meant the world to her”
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/03/10/texas-abortion-lawsuit/
A Texas man has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against three women who allegedly helped his ex-wife obtain abortion pills and terminate her pregnancy, in the first case of its kind to be brought since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
The lawsuit could signal a new phase in antiabortion strategy, with conservatives scrambling to crack down on growing abortion pill networks that have helped pregnant people access medication abortion in states where the procedure is banned.
The plaintiff, Marcus Silva, is represented by Jonathan Mitchell, a conservative lawyer who was the architect of a novel 2021 Texas abortion ban, and Briscoe Cain, a Republican member of the Texas House. The lawsuit states that helping someone obtain an abortion qualifies as murder under the state’s pre-Roe abortion ban that took effect this summer, allowing Silva to sue under the wrongful-death statute.
Silva’s civil case could result in the women being forced to pay over $1 million in damages. The district attorney in Galveston, Tex., will decide separately whether to charge the women in criminal court.
Silva alleged that in July 2022, when the couple were still married, his wife became pregnant but concealed it from him.
Two of the defendants allegedly exchanged text messages with Silva’s wife, discussing how and where she could obtain the medication to cause an abortion. A third defendant arranged for the delivery of the medication, the complaint alleged.
“We have pills here in Houston,” read a message that one of the women shared with the group, according to the complaint. “So no you wouldn’t have to fly. You could get them from us or your could order some online.”
Abortion is now banned or under threat in these states
As the person seeking the abortion, Silva’s ex-wife is exempt from civil and criminal liability, the complaint notes, and Silva is not pursuing any claims against her. The couple divorced last month, according to the court document. None of the three women named as defendants, or their lawyers, could be reached for comment on the accusations.
The complaint said Silva also intends to sue the manufacturer of the mifepristone pill allegedly used in the abortion if that information is made available in discovery.
“Anyone involved in distributing or manufacturing abortion pills will be sued into oblivion,” Cain, one of Silva’s lawyers, wrote in a news release. “That includes CVS and Walgreens if their abortion pills find their way into our state.”
Since the June Supreme Court decision, abortion rights activists have ramped up efforts to ship abortion pills — a two-step regimen of mifepristone and misoprostol that is widely regarded as safe — into states with strict new bans, violating the bans as they work with rapidly expanding international suppliers as well as U.S.-based distributors.
The Texas judge who could take down the abortion pill
These growing pill pipelines have presented a major challenge for the antiabortion movement. Many prosecutors don’t want to charge people for abortion-related crimes, while others have struggled to find cases.
Abortion pills are usually sent to pregnant people through the mail, making their distribution hard to track. Prosecutors are also limited to bringing charges against people who help facilitate the abortion, with abortion bans currently in effect exempting people seeking abortions from criminal prosecution or legal liability.
Texas has emerged as a hot spot for novel approaches to restrict access to abortion pills. U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, based in Amarillo, could soon rule on a lawsuit filed by antiabortion groups against the Food and Drug Administration that could take mifepristone off the market, a ruling with the potential to upend abortion access nationwide.
Antiabortion groups within the state have also begun their own investigative efforts. Texas Right to Life has created a team of advocates assigned to gather information on citizens who might be distributing abortion pills illegally.
Silva’s complaint includes as exhibits many of the text messages allegedly exchanged among the group of women. In the texts, one person shares information provided by an organization that ships pills that cause abortions and says the woman can take them at her home.
“Your help means the world to me,” responds a woman identified in the complaint as Silva’s ex-wife.
The texts also show discussions about the date of the woman’s last period, what the medication abortion will feel like and when she is planning to take the pills.
