So today there is a holiday in the state where I live in the Netherlands called Carnaval, which involves crowds of dressed up people going out to the streets and bars to party hard. And since my autism makes it quite hard for me to be around loud music and drunks, I decided to escape from all of that and take my dog Ruby for a long walk at a nature reserve that is very dear to me ever since I was a kid; the Strabrechtse Heide (roughly translated: Strabrecht Meadow)

As mentioned before, this place is very nostalgic to me since I used to go there very often with my dad to check up on the cows he kept there (because of his job as a farmer) and I have nothing but fond memories of it. I had an absolutely lovely walk, enjoying the view around me, listening to the birds, had a slice of apple pie and tea at some point at an eatery and in the end, I ended up walking with Ruby for more than two hours. All and all, it was a great day.

And what makes me especially proud of going there is the fact that I went all by myself! I always get a little bit nervous when I'm driving alone in the car plus I always have my boyfriend with me whenever I go out to somewhere outside of the town where I live, but everything went well in the end and I guess I could say that I can be a bit proud of this ^^

In december 2019 i made an attempt to write down in Dutch this animal crossing story (i guess you could call it a fanfic) I made up much earlier when I was like 11, and gave it to my ex as a present..

I just wanna give a shoutout to Sara Burgerhart from the novel with the same name.

She's an ace character in a 1782 novel (written by two women who were probably lesbians). Although she is shoved into the Dutch version of the Jane Austen and/or Pamelia novels, she clearly states she wants to stay with her caretaker (and elderly woman after she had to flee her family) and her girlfriends (just normal friends) and has no desire to marry whatsoever. "Why must I marry? Why can I not stay with you (all)?" I think she literally complains at one point in the book (not 100% sure though if it's exactly that quote).

But yeah. Go look up Sara Burgerhart! It was one of the most popular novels of its time in the Netherlands and it is literally the struggle of an ace girl in a heteronormative world! Even if no one read it like that at the time. It is still nowadays soooooo relatable and has such good unintended ace representation! (Not to be confused with straight girls from the time not wanting to marry. Sara didn't want to marry at all, not even with guys she liked!) I recommend it to everyone!

Actually. Why do I feel like it’s easier to write an American fanfic setting than to write a Dutch High fanfic setting. Why do I find it more natural to make them drive a car than ride a bike. Why do they get McDonalds but not fries from the random shop that sells fries that exists in every neighbourhood. Why do I make them live in Los Angeles rather then Rotterdam. I actually KNOW things about Chinese diaspora in the Netherlands why am I hardwired to put it all in America
