baked me the chocolate cake I always had growing up. it was tradition in my family to have a chocolate cake with melted chocolate at the icing every year on your birthday and have the chocolate cake for breakfast, because it was a special occasion so we were allowed it lmao. I'm not seeing my family this year so she got the recipe off my mum and made it for me 😭😭 and she does not bake I would like to say

made me a BOOK TREASURE HUNT!!! HE GOT ME A BUNCH OF BOOKS IVE ASKED FOR THROUGHOUT TIME (I ask for books fucking constantly) AND THEN MADE LITTLE CLUES AND I HAD TO GO AROUND THE HOUSE FINDING THE BOOKS 😭😭😭😭 AHHHHH

made me earrings???!! like they look amazing!!!! I didn't know he had made them until he specified 😭😭😭😭 AND THEYRE SO GOOD AND GREEEN AND I FUCKING LOVE GREEN

got into cahoots with my mum and dragged together all the money I was gonna get from random family members and gave some of her own money SO SHE COULD BUY ME AN IPAD GUYS I HAVE AN IPAD I've always wanted an ipad but my family was ✨️not the wealthiest✨️ so I never asked for one because I knew it would cause too many problems but this year I had my own savings so I was just asking for money for my birthday so I could get one but she got it for me SO I COULD HAVE IT TODAY ON MY ACTUAL BIRTHDAY 😭😭😭😭 so I don't even have to use any of my savings I'm just so agsjslajsks BUT FUCK YEAH IPAD

Ok ok ok ok so in our first meeting with Acheron we witness a very conversation between Aventurine and Dr. Ratio, where Aventurine says 

NOW KEEP THE THREE CHIPS AND RATIOS DOUBT IN MIND

ALRIGHT SO WE HAVE THAT NOW WHEN DOES THE LIGHTCONE TAKE PLACE???? ITS NOT CONFIRMED BUT ITS VERY EASY TO EXTRAPOLATE THAT ITS POST AVENTURINES ARGUMENT WITH DR. RATIO, FOR A NUMBER OF REASONS

a) Post-Argument Aventurine needs ratio not to doubt him and within the lightcone he does some Russian roulette to prove he never loses a gamble

b) Aventurine has virtually nothing on Pencony, literally nobody likes him or wants to partner with him and the family stole a lot of his stuff so he’s desperate for help and the trust of anyone, including Ratio, who doesn’t believe he can pull it off with so little resources and communication 

c) they leave that conversation on a bad note and that has to be rectified, the logical conclusion would be the lightcone is the rectification of the previous argument 

NOW, AND THIS IS WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING; here is the descriptioj of the lightcone 

“You don’t believe me?” aka him confronting Ratios doubt, AND HE TAKES OUT THREE!!! THREE SHOTS!!!

HII ITS ME THE ONE WHOSE BIRTHDAY IT WAS YESTERDAY. I am still speechless about the fact that you even wrote me a birthday gift. I’m not even going to try to put into words how much that means to me, but I want you to know you truly made it my best birthday to date. I cannot even explain how happy that made me, my hormones are still feeling the aftershocks. Don’t even get me started on the writing itself!!! Because that was 100000000000x than anything I could have came up with. How does your brain even do that, I’m literally blown away. I’ve been smiling so hard since yesterday and literally everyone keeps asking me why and it’s because of you. eeeee lots has happened since the whole tumblr fiasco of uploading and reuploading solo queue i ultimately gave up feeling overwhelmed bc of real life events going on at the same time /SO. MANY. THINGS. HAPPENED.

I wish I had more to update you on but aside from my acting competitions starting up again (hoping to make it to state again this year crvygu) and me working on a kazuha au I have nothing lmfao. Although I’m gonna be 18 in a few months which is a really weird feeling but yeah.

Now we are joined in a cobweb of rainbows.

When December 2020 rolled around, I was so excited to start planning for Rosie’s third birthday. We were going to celebrate it a few times (which you’ve probably come to expect by now for most members of my family), once with Rob’s mom here in Chicago and again over the holidays with my family. For our Chicago celebration, I decided to put in a big effort and make Molly Yeh’s rainbow birthday cake.

This cake recipe was a no-brainer for Rosie. By that point in her life, she was far more interested in watching Elmo than cooking shows with her old lady, BUT she would always concede to watching the “Bernie’s First Birthday” episode of Girl Meets Farm, the one that features this cake. 

We started a few days in advance, because that’s the only way I get things done anymore. Rosebud helped me make the batter and bake the cakes, which took a long time because a) toddler, and b) the set of cake pans I have only has one pan in each size, so each layer had to wait its turn while the 8′’ pan was being used. Then after she’d gone to bed, Rob and I got to work on the decorating. 

Because I also do not have letter-shaped cookie cutters, this took a lot longer than I anticipated. Like, three hours. But thankfully I had my trusty graphic designer to come in with the assist and patiently cut little letters out of the marshmallow fondant I’d made in Rosie’s favorite colors at the time (”beet red, moss green, and dijon yellow”). He even employed Rosie’s tiny rolling pin that she uses for play doh. 

Labor that it was, there are worse ways to spend an evening than toiling over fondant with your sweetheart. 

But the big payoff came the next day, when we revealed the cake to Rosie.

This cake was so delicious! Moist, creamy, and extra decadent with the three layers, my only regret was that because it was such a big cake, we didn’t stand a chance of eating it all before we left town a few days later. The friends who received our leftover cake did not share my regret. Rosie loved it too!

Especially after the big reveal of the colorful layers! 

Served aside a Pequod’s pizza and one of those irrationally good Caesar salad kits from Target, this cake was worth every minute of effort. Maybe next time I’ll actually equip myself with the proper tools, so it will take fewer minutes of effort. But this wasn’t the first time I’d gone to great lengths for a special birthday cake (eeeee, errrmm, hiiiii), and I’m sure it won’t be the last. Thank you to my dear Rob for staying up late with me to make sure this one was three year-old approved.

So I basically combined my Flower Shop AU with the Fake Engagement trope. The first time Sessy walks into thr flower shop, it was on his way to the cemetery, and like a son who always follows his duties, he visits his father's grave on the anniversary. Rin greets him with enthusiasm, and fills out his order, and notices that they are the traditional arrangement to put on a grave, and it's also their most expensive type. She chatters at him while she makes the arrangement, ignoring any and all social barriers between them, which is highly irregular.

"Wow, you must have really loved this person," she says, even though he hadn't told her what they were for. That makes Sessy pause, wondering how she knew. But he thanks her and goes to leave. Maybe he makes some soft comment like "you are very perceptive," which she takes as a compliment, her smile shining so brightly it confuses him. He just said something obvious? Why is she smiling?? (A throw back to the anime meeting)

So he leaves, right? But a few weeks later he is walking down the same street again for a different purpose and spies the flower shop, and there is Rin outside, watering some large pot plants. She sees him and waves like he is a friend, and on a whim he goes over and hurriedly makes up an excuse as to why needs flowers. His mother is having a birthday soon. Perfect.

Then he just makes more excuses to come back every week, sometimes as ridiculous as he wants a rose for his jacket for a board meeting. He doesn't say much, but Rin is drawn to his soft spokenness.

And then when he comes in, apparenty flustered, and it takes him a while before he can even broach the subject with her, but he gives his dilemma and proposes her part in it, and he thinks it will be so easy to ignore her when it was all over. He offers the money, and Rin accepts, but to her it was the opportunity to be with him, even if it's just for a little while.

She can pretend that she is not alone anymore.
