[好日の素…蝶の一生を見守ること、再び。]　 　

すっかり毎年秋の 恒例行事？となりました、 ツマグロヒョウモンの生育観察。 　 今年は9月下旬に 産卵があり、 収録の当初は17匹だったのですが その後10匹増えました…笑 　 それでも、やはり 夏が厳しかったことも 影響しているのか、 昨年よりは少ない印象。 　 何十匹もいると 客観的にはさすがに ぎょっとするかもしれないのですが、 卵から孵化して ずっとお世話していると、 結構平気になってしまっているから 不思議です。 脱皮や蛹化の際には がんばれ…！なんて応援目線に なってしまったり。 　 昨年は11月に生まれた個体もあって 最期を看取るところまで お世話したのですが、 今年は今のところ 気温は下がってきているけれど まだ彼らが育つ気温としては それほど低くないので、 なんとか寒くなる前に みんな羽化できたらいいなぁと思っています。

　 前々回のまくわうり、前回のゴーヤーに 続き…というわけではありませんが（笑、 ふと思い出したことがあって 今回フィーチャーするのは 日本の菓子パンの代表格のひとつ、メロンパン。 SNSなどを拝見していると、 海外の方でもお好きだという声があったりします。 　 さすがにこれは じぶんでつくったことはなく、 市販品から手作りのもの、そして 地域限定のものまで 今まで食べてきているので 身近な存在。 　 その割に 由来なども所説あって 知らないことも多い、謎の一品です。 　 メロンパン、の名の通り メロンの果汁や香りが加えてあるものもあれば、 全くその逆で 今の季節ですと 栗や紅茶のメロンパンというものも。 クッキー生地があるもの、ないもの、 クリームがはさんであるもの、ないもの…。 とにかくバリエーションがいろいろで、 不思議なパンだなぁ、と思うわけです。 　 そして、わたしが初めて食べた メロンパンというのが… 能登の祖父母の家に行ったときに 近くの商店で買った、メロンパン。 これが、クッキー生地なし、 クリームははさんであるけど メロン味ではなく、さらには 丸ではなく紡錘形！ でもパッケージには「メロンパン」と。 　 それがものすごくおいしくて、 でもメロンじゃないよなぁ、と 子供心に思っていて、ずっと謎でして。 そんな経験もあって、 歳月を経てもメロンパンを食べていたのです（笑。 　 それが、この度！ このコーナーでお話しするために 調べていたところ、 紡錘形のメロンパンは主に 関西に存在する、ということが分かりました！！！ 　 ごはんの盛り付けに使う 紡錘形の型をメロン型というそうで、 その形のパンだった、と思われます。 　 編み目のついたメロンパンも もちろん好きですけど、 その紡錘形の、わたしにとっては 幻なのか、とずっと思っていたメロンパン、 関西に出向く機会があったら ぜひとも探して再会したいものです…！
