What is the best link shortener?
What is a URL shortener and which are the best?
A good snip never hurts.
Although the internet generates more and more weight due to the strict amount of accumulated data, passing by the 10 zettabytes, according to the
World Wide Web Size, it is clear that today's immediacy is rewarded, the concise idea, getting to the point with the message and the Outcome.
In other words, the URL you share is as short as possible, with a clear font and without an eternal chain of meaningless symbols.
Because, in effect, those long URLs in the form of kilometer chains have a way of condensing, using a shortener.
And they make something a little coarse elegant - in fact, they are even used in print magazines or in a bibliography without violating APA standards.
Let's see what this magic encryption is all about.
WHAT IS A URL Shortener?
A URL shortener is, plain and simple, a tool that abbreviates the link of any content.
In this way, an address such as https://t2mio.com/blog/what-does-it-mean-to-shorten-url/ becomes encrypted to something like https://t2m.io/3qOuC5y5 .
WHAT IS A URL SHORTENER FOR?
When Twitter enforced the use of 140 characters, shortening any letter was pressing.
A simple letter of more annoyed the message to us.
Years after claiming some extra space, Twitter started to include its own shortener, then doubled the space for messages, and finally stopped counting the characters that imply links or embedded content, which is more dynamic and interactive.
Facebook, Tumblr or any other platform are governed by these same rules.
But even a URL shortener is still a great tool.
Beyond practicality, here are some arguments in favor:
Analytical: the shorteners collect information on the number of openings, data from the browser, OS and device, associated demographic information, PV, etc. In other words, they are tools that serve to keep more precise control of interactions with content. Hootsuite or Buffer, for example, allows us to obtain data in real-time, even when we send these URLs modified by Telegram or WhatsApp. If you are a community manager or have ever worked with email marketing, you will already know what we are talking about.
Personalization and homogenization: if our URL involves a very long stream of numbers and letters because it is accompanied by a UTM code (Urchin Traffic Monitor), which, in addition, adds publication date, there is nothing soberer than seeing a short URL with just five or six letters. In addition, there are many options for shorteners, so we can get a custom URL - ideal for affiliate promotions or marketing campaigns. Nothing better than using keywords ( keywords ) or calls to action (CTA) that most interested us to achieve a result appealing.
NOT ALL ARE ADVANTAGES
Although it should also be noted that shortening a URL can be interpreted as a symptom of lack of transparency.
In the middle of 2019, where almost any content can be embedded, we should not worry, but we must still consider it for full transparency.
The last thing we want when sharing something is to be branded as a spammer, having sent content without informing what it is. But t2m URL shortener stops spamming and it takes a little basic fee on signup.
If we use a depersonalized URL, we also lose some relevance. And we also expose ourselves to the fact that this external tool stops working, so that we will lose the connection with the entire base of links.
THEN WHICH ONE TO CHOOSE?
Easy, the one that uses these basic premises: simple application, null expiration —that has a payment option to keep the new URLs—, which is as short as possible, with the minimum number of characters, and is a service reliable, considering how it redirects.
THE BEST LINK SHORTENERS
For this reason, when it comes to reducing our URLs, we must bet on the most reliable shorteners.
And yes, there is life beyond Google Shortener. Although we must recognize that Google is one of the fastest and has different extensions in both Chrome and Firefox.
But it should be noted that this shortener became obsolete on April 13, 2018, and was replaced by Firebase Dynamic Links.
The use in almost all of them will be the same: paste the original URL in a blank drawer and, on the other side, the shortened URL will appear as a result.
From here, we can already share the new URL on social networks.
And measure your engagement, of course.
T2M URL Shortener
T2M URL Shortener has been one of the most popular in this work and is used for its variety of options offered, including statistics and the ability to create QR codes. You can download CSV files for you shorted links list and get branded URL shortening service.
TINY URL
Another very popular example that won't surprise almost anyone. It was one of the pioneers in the link marketing market and, under its basic appearance, it provides a good handful of statistical data to contribute to our reports.
In addition, we must take into account its main promise: these URLs do not expire, hence they are one of the predilections for email marketing.
OW.LY
Not all free tools are going to be poor in their choice offering. That of Owly is a very simple and practical shortener, it is fully integrated into Hootsuite -for alone did not provide virtually any additional information for the analysis of data- and facilitates programming of publications.
Although perhaps one of its best functions is to allow shortening links without registering. It is up to us to choose its free version or the complete suite.

The futuristic, ultra-slick ZTE Nubia Watch comes filled with contradictions. While it combines a cutting-edge flexible display with equally bendy glass, its internal components are a generation behind. So, should you buy a Nubia Watch? At $219, it's the cheapest flexible-display smartwatch and the least expensive cellular-enabled watch for Android and iOS. But its limited app selection means it's not for everyone.

If you want a dazzling display to impress your friends and family
But there's one big problem: there aren't any third-party apps. That includes messaging apps other than SMS (text messaging). So if you're reliant on Tinder, Facebook, WhatsApp, or any other communications platform, this isn't the device for you.

A Gesture-Controlled, Foldable, Flexible-Display Smartwatch
The Nubia Watch is a gesture-controlled, foldable, flexible-display smartwatch, with very few smart features. It's remarkable for its excellent build-quality, eSIM compatibility, and direct Bluetooth pairing, which allows for you to ditch your cellphone, provided you don't need third-party apps.
Construction Quality

But is the Nubia Watch rugged enough to take hiking? Compared to folding smartphones, it's nigh-indestructible. Other than a single plastic covering its sensor suite, the watch uses copious amount of steel and aluminum.
Shockingly, Nubia somehow managed to implement a glass screen as opposed to a plastic one, on a flexible display. The secret to its mind-boggling flexibility is Schott flexible glass. Schott glass is a specially constructed flexible glass, so thin that it bends like a piece of paper, yet retains the rigidity of glass.
It's Heavy and Chunky
The tradeoff, unfortunately, is weight. While the watch doesn't feel heavy, its metal construction, and large display don't make it a lightweight either. Compared to the Apple Watch, or even the Fossil Gen 5, the Nubia Watch is more like a lead weight in its heft and cumber. I always felt the subtle, although noticeable, pull on my wrist at all times. And forget wearing a heavy jacket alongside the Nubia Watch. It'll uncomfortably press into the sides of your wrists, even with the slightly movement of your arm.
And one more thing: Imperial and metric rulers are inscribed along the sides of the Nubia Watch. As someone who constantly measures lengths, these were a surprisingly useful addition.
Cellular Compatibility: What's an eSIM?
eSIM technology is a card-free standard for connecting a modem-equipped device to mobile networks. Because the standard doesn't need a bulky SIM card, it's ideal for tiny devices, like smartwatches.
Unfortunately, my cellular provider isn't compatible with eSIM technology, so I couldn't test this feature. Be sure to check your own network before purchasing if this is a
Setting Up and Using the Nubia Watch

The Nubia Watch's setup and configuration are easy compared to Wear OS.
Setting Up the Nubia Watch
Before doing anything, first fully charge the watch. The Nubia Watch uses a standard Micro-USB, pogo-pin charging cradle. To Nubia's credit, the charging cradle uses a modular port, meaning you can swap out cables in case one breaks.

Setup and configuration are easy. Install the Nubia Wear app, also available on iOS. (Please note that despite its name, the Nubia Watch doesn't use Google's wearable operating, Wear OS.)
After installing the app, a guided setup process launches. You'll use your phone camera to pair via QR code to the watch. Then the Nubia Wear app requests a variety of permissions. After you've completed the setup process, the watch is ready for use.
Using the Nubia Watch's Gesture Controls
The Nubia Watch, like all smart watches, can turn its display on all-day long. It also includes gesture control for toggling the screen off and on. To turn the screen on, you bring your arm up while twisting, as if to check the time. Switching the screen off just requires making a pinching motion on the screen. The screen-off gesture is unique among smartwatches, and makes excellent use of the gigantic, flexible OLED display.
Unfortunately, the Nubia Watch lacks screen-off gesture control. Which means you have to turn the screen on in order to skip audio tracks or raise the volume. However, because the screen can automatically turn on in response to gestures, you won't have to hit the power button to operate it.
What Does the Nubia Watch Do? And What Doesn't It Do?

The Nubia Watch does everything a dumb-phone can do, such as make and receive calls and text messages. You can also listen to downloaded music if you've paired the watch to Bluetooth earbuds. But here's the kicker: you can also run basic fitness apps, which can track workouts, from weight lifting to jogging. It's not generating the level of data or detail found in a FitBit or Apple Watch. But it's not worthless, either.
No App Store of Any Kind
The biggest problem with the Nubia Watch is it doesn't include any app store. That means there's no WhatsApp, Telegram, or Facebook. And that makes it useless for 90% of the people out there. Had it used an operating system like Android or KaiOS, it would have had access to a large app ecosystem. As it stands, it's little more than a nice-looking burner phone.
Mediocre Water and Dust Resistance
Don't take the Nubia Watch to the beach. Its flexible screen and moving parts guarantee weak protection against environmental hazards.
Another weak point is its Ingress Protection (IP) rating of IP54. A 5-4 rating means it's not fully dust sealed and it's only water resistant against splashes but not complete submersion in water. In other words, this isn't the smartwatch to take with you to the beach or swimming pool. Compared to the Apple Watch or even most Wear OS Android smartwatches, it's significantly less resistant to moisture and particulate matter. Don't wear it to construction sites, either. That bad dust rating means it can get damaged if it's dropped in something like sand.
You Won't Take It Hiking, Either
I also enjoy hiking and having a smart device on your wrist is incredibly convenient. While Wear OS (formerly known as Android Wear) offers a smattering of decent navigation utilities, there's nothing remotely similar on the Nubia Watch.
Aside from a simple compass app, there are no ways to get directions, even with a paired smartphone. Also, turning on GPS in an area with flaky wireless signals is likely to cause tremendous amounts of battery drain. While on a hike in the mountains, the Nubia Watch's GPS reduced battery life to an hour.
Battery Life Analysis
Left idle, the watch loses about a quarter of its battery life overnight, with all features turned on. While in active use, it loses about half its battery life in a 24-hour period. However, the battery life varied throughout the test period. In one instance, it lost a full charge overnight.
I rate the battery endurance at around two days. That's about twice as long compared to a Wear OS smartwatch, if all the features are turned on.
I imagine that with all features turned off, and the device left idle, it would get Nubia's estimated seven days of battery life. But who leaves their smartwatch idle for seven days? Overall, by Wear OS standards, it's great. But the high bar set by FitBit (three to four days) and the Apple Watch (18 hours), it's average. Even so, it'll probably last longer than your phone.
The Nubia Watch's Apps

The Nubia Watch suffers from a lack of apps. Nubia claims it'll add notifications support for social media apps, such as WhatsApp and Facebook. At present, though, I received no notifications for any apps. Instead, there's only support for the following:
Phone and text messages
Workout tracking
Health tracking
Manual heart-rate tracking
"Barrage"
A compass
A calendar plug-in
A phone locator
A music playing app
Search phone
With the exception of Barrage, all of the apps are self explanatory. Barrage is a visual effect app with four different animated sequences, ranging from a Matrix-themed vertical text ticker to a pulsating music-themed marquee. Clearly, this feature is aimed at a younger, club-going audience. While I'm not a part of this group, the Barrage app offers a level of visual splendor unheard of in the wearables world.
All of the features work as you would expect, with one exception: Search phone. This app either was incompatible with my smartphone or it's broken.
Health and Fitness Tracking

The workout tracking falls far short of its rivals. More to the point, it lacks automatic exercise detection as well as advanced sleep-tracking metrics.
Mediocre Sleep Tracking
Its sleep tracking provides limited, and inaccurate, metrics. On top of that, it only measures two sleep states: REM and light. One interesting point: the Nubia Watch's sleep metrics claim to track deep and light sleep. However, when the watch's metrics are compared to a FitBit for the same period, it appears to not confuse deep sleep and REM sleep.
Aside from the misidentification of sleep states, the watch otherwise seems accurate. However, as deep sleep is one of the two biggest contributors to overall fitness, its omission destroys half its utility.
Phone and SMS
It's also worth mentioning that the Nubia Watch includes full phone functionality. Unfortunately, I could not test this feature as my cellular service provider doesn't offer eSIM compatibility.
Music Playback During Activities

The baked-in music player works with most music formats, although it won't read ALAC-formatted audio files. However, it did work with the other major file-types that I tried, including MP3, AAC, and FLAC formats. While ALAC isn't the most common, or important format out there, it may be that other exotic file-types aren't compatible either.
Storage Drive Analysis
Of the 8GB storage drive onboard the Nubia Watch, 4.2GB are available to the user. That's room for approximately 1,000 songs. The quality of the storage is decent and it likely uses a standard eMMC flash storage module. (What's an eMMC storage drive?)
I transferred exactly 1GB of files to and from the smartwatch. Writing files to the Nubia Watch took 87-seconds or one minute and 27 seconds. That's a speed of roughly 11.5 megabytes per second, which means it's transferring files slightly faster than a generic USB 2.0 flash drive.
Reading files, or transferring exactly 1GB of files to a tethered computer, took approximately 50 seconds, giving it a transfer speed of 20MB per second. Overall, the eMMC storage drive used in the Nubia Watch is of good quality.
Unreliable Connectivity

On top of a lack of apps, the Nubia Watch has a few bugs. At the top of the list, it frequently loses connection to your paired smartphone. Additionally, I couldn't transfer files to it over Bluetooth.
No Streaming Anything, But It Plays Transferred Music Files
The Nubia Watch, unfortunately, won't stream podcasts or audiobooks, because of a lack of app integration. But you can manually transfer photos or audio files from a USB-connection. It feels barebones compared to the more luxurious experience of an Apple Watch. But even so, it gets the job done.
Is the Nubia Watch Worth Buying?
Should you buy a limited-function, $219-dollar flexible-display smartwatch with call-and-text capabilities? While the Apple Watch comes loaded with apps, it's also expensive. While most smartwatches can do a lot more than just make calls and look good, they also don't look as gorgeous and futuristic as the Nubia Watch.
For anyone who wants to go smartphone free, and can't afford an Apple or Samsung smartwatch, the Nubia Watch is the best looking and most-futuristic eye-candy for the wrist ever made. If you can get over its many weaknesses, it's a well-constructed, attention-grabbing work of art. But for anyone interested in fitness tracking, there are far better and more accurate smartwatches on the market.
Me as a Reviewer of Fitness Gadgets
I've been a fanatical user of fitness wearables since 2014, having gone hands-on with most major brands at conventions or through review units, including the original Nubia Alpha Watch in Berlin, Germany.
In pre-viral times, like most tech-loving gym rats, I analyzed every jog and weight-lifting session with fitness trackers. In the post-viral era, the gym closures led to me learning how to workout from home. Without exercise machines, I do mostly pilates, resistance-band sessions, and the rare hike. But even given my limited workout routines, the Nubia Watch just didn't meet my needs.

Lightweight ‘banking via messaging’ services are getting Gen Z buzz
More evidence that Gen Z is switching to chat platforms for just about everything, including banking, emerges today in the news that Zelf, a fintech startup offering neobank-style services, is generating buzz amongst Gen-Zers in Spain and France. Its ability for users to interact solely via messaging has seen the startup hit over 260,000 card pre-orders since its launch in early April, according to the company, which is specifically targeting Gen Z.
They are not alone. Other players in the “banking services via a messaging” space include Kotak Mahindra Bank in India (on WhatsApp) and ICICI in WhatsApp (India). However, neither of these can do actual provisioning of the card and addition to Apple Pay and Google Pay in the messengers, which is what Zelf can do.
With Zelf, users get an account and a virtual card via their Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber and Telegram accounts. For offline and online purchases Zelf supports Apple Pay and Google Pay. This lightweight onboarding means card issuance takes less than 30 seconds via a Passport or national ID. Users then get a virtual Mastercard debit card available in their favorite messenger app. Operating inside the EU’s “Single Euro Payments Area” means it’s pretty easy for the startup to scale its offering to other countries.
Part of the reason Zelf is confident it can scale is that it has signed a deal with Treezor, a Banking-as-a-Service platform based in France. Treezor is a fintech, registered with the ACPR, and was acquired in 2019 by the Société Générale group.
Elliot Goykhman, founder and CEO of Zelf, tells me: “With 84% of screen time taken by five apps, mostly messengers, we make sending and receiving money as easy as sending a message. Instant notifications, voice commands instead of buttons, simple invoicing and QR codes are some of the messenger banking features that will simplify the financial routine and bring money matters to the default apps of today — the messengers.” It will also soon work in Discord and Telegram, he says.
The business model for Zelf will come from interchange fees, premium account fees and — toward the end of this year — from loans, credit cards and voice memo-activated invoices.

How To Secure Your Cryptocurrency In 2020
There is a history of cryptocurrency being lost or stolen.
Unfortunately, in the cryptocurrency industry, there is a history of coins being lost or stolen. One of the most notable occurred with the Mt. Gox exchange in 2014. Approximately 850,000 Bitcoins belonging to customers and the company were missing and likely stolen, which amounted to more than USD 450 million at the time.

Figure 1: The Binance hack caused the price of the cryptocurrency to slip drastically.
More recently, in 2018, Tokyo-based cryptocurrency exchange Coincheck lost approximately USD 533 million worth in cryptocurrency. Online digital wallets lost an estimated 500 million NEM tokens. Just last May 2019, hackers withdrew 7,000 Bitcoin worth about USD 40 Million at the time from Binance via a single transaction in a "larger-scale security breach."
Use common sense and apply necessary security principles to protect your cryptocurrency
Figure 2: Two-factor authentication is a good security measure.
As Eric Larcheveque mentions, many exchanges due to the rapid increase of investors, attracted by the hype, did not have the time or resources to build resilient security solutions. Crypto exchanges are prone to hacks because they centralize the risk and must keep part of their private keys online to allow for real-time withdrawals. Larcheveque, recommends to use common sense and apply necessary security principles as follows:
Don’t use a cryptocurrency exchange for long-term storage.
If you do, use two-factor authentication, preferably one that is not limited to devices connected to the internet.
For your hardware wallet, choose a PIN code that you can remember, but is secure and not easy to guess.
Keep your 24-word recovery sheet well secured and never enter it on any device that is connected to the internet.
Only trust what you can see on your hardware wallet screen. Verify your reception address and payment information on the device.
Always treat with caution information shown on your computer or smartphone screen. Assume software can get compromised anytime.
Personally, from time to time, I move cryptocurrency from exchanges that I use for trading to my desktop wallet, mobile wallet, or a hardware wallet for long-term storage. I also diversify risk by using more than one exchange.
There are many different types of cryptocurrency wallets.
According to Simona Vaitkune (2017), there are five types of cryptocurrency wallets that you can use:
Figure 3: MyEtherWallet allows you to send ether and compatible ERC-20 tokens.
1) Online Wallets (also known as "hot wallets"): Online wallets run on the cloud so they can be accessible from multiple devices with an internet connection. They are practical and convenient to use. However, they are also more susceptible to theft, as is evident by many past hacks of online wallets used by cryptocurrency exchanges exemplifies. Besides utilizing online wallets provided by exchanges, you can use your own such as MyEtherWallet or Metamask.
Figure 4: The Jaxx multi-cryptocurrency wallet has a responsive design.
2) Mobile Wallet (also known as "warm wallets"): Mobile wallets are applications that run on your smartphone device. They are very convenient because they are a means of payment. Overall, mobile wallets are considered to be safer than cloud-based, online wallets. Of course, there are still risks associated with mobile wallets such as losing your crypto assets in case your phone breaks down, gets stolen, or becomes hacked. Examples of good mobile wallets are Blockchain, Trust, Jaxx, and Mycelium.
Recommendation:

Figure 5: The Robinhood wallet allows you to invest in a variety of assets—all commission free!
The Robinhood mobile wallet allows you to invest Commission-Free! Invest in stocks, ETFs, options, and cryptocurrencies, all commission-free, right from your phone or desktop.
Figure 6: The Celsius wallet allows high annual interest payments on stored cryptocurrency.
The Celsius mobile wallet allows you to get 10% annual interest or more on stable coins such as TrueUSD (TUSD), Gemini Dollar (GUSD), Paxos (PAX), USD Coin (USDC), MakerDAO (DAI), and Tether (USDT). Plus, you can also get an annual interest on other popular cryptocurrencies.

Figure 7: The Exodus multi-cryptocurrency desktop wallet has an intuitive interface.
3) Desktop Wallet (also known as "warm wallets"): Desktop wallets can be downloaded and installed on your desktop or laptop device. These desktop wallets are considered safer than online wallets or mobile wallets. However, you can still lose your crypto if your computer is infected with a virus, gets hacked, or becomes damaged in some way. Examples of good desktop wallets are Exodus, Atomic Wallet, Bitcoin Core, and Jaxx.

Figure 8: The Ledger Nano cryptocurrency cold storage wallet.
Figure 9: The Trezor cryptocurrency cold storage wallet.
4) Hardware Wallet (also known as "cold wallets" or "cold storage"): Hardware wallets store users' private keys typically on a USB drive. Some even can make online transactions. However, most of the time, they are kept offline to be secure. Examples of good hardware wallets are the Ledger Nano, the Trezor, or the ColdLar Pro.
Figure 10: An example of a cryptocurrency paper wallet.
5) Paper Wallet: Paper wallets are the safest option to store your digital assets but not necessarily the most convenient or practical to use. Basically, a paper wallet is a physical copy of your generated public and private keys and can even refer to a printed sheet of paper. You can send funds by transferring the cryptocurrency to the wallet's public address, and you can withdraw or send your coins by entering your private keys or by scanning the QR code on the paper wallet.

Instant notifications, voice commands instead of buttons, simple invoicing and QR codes are some of the messenger banking features that will simplify the financial routine and bring money matters to the default apps of today — the messengers.” It will also soon work in iMessage and Discord, he says.
The business model for Zelf will come from interchange fees, premium account fees and — toward the end of this year — from loans, credit cards and voice memo-activated invoices.

Ellipal’s Titan Hardware Wallet Is Airgapped and Easy to Use
New Post has been published on https://coinmakers.tech/news/ellipal-s-titan-hardware-wallet-is-airgapped-and-easy-to-use
Ellipal’s Titan Hardware Wallet Is Airgapped and Easy to Use
Ellipal’s Titan Hardware Wallet Is Airgapped and Easy to Use
There’s a lot of hardware wallets out there vying for your hard-earned satoshis. Minimalist USB sticks; credit card-shaped devices with monochrome screens; Bluetooth-enabled gadgets. The Ellipal Titan is a new offering that packs a lot into its $169 price tag. But there’s one thing conspicuously absent – connectivity. The Titan inhabits a vacuum, and for good reason.
Titan: A Blockbuster You Can Hold in Your Hand
When it comes to naming security devices, effeminate monikers aren’t in vogue for some reason. The Ellipal Titan maintains that tradition, its robust design complemented by a fittingly alpha name. Its preferred pronoun is “it” and it identifies as an ultra-secure cryptocurrency wallet.
Essentially an upgrade on “The Cold Wallet 2.0,” which news.Bitcoin.com reviewed last year, the Titan comes packing a host of formidable security features. Its airgapped configuration is the most obvious manifestation of this, but there’s also the ability to set up to three verification steps including a long PIN. The absence of any connections – not even wired – entirely mitigates network attacks. That’s not to say the Titan is impregnable of course, for no hardware wallet is immune to every conceivable attack, physical ones especially. Keep the Titan in a safe place, however, and your mnemonic phrase in a safer place still and your crypto won’t be going anywhere without your say-so.
There’s a lettering kit included for permanently recording your mnemonic phrase and sliding it into the metallic case supplied. I skip this step, but note that the letters look tougher than with the previous Ellipal hardware wallet I reviewed.
Hands on With the Titan
The handset on which the Titan’s wallet keys are generated – essentially a dumb smartphone – is a lot more robust than its plastic predecessor, The Cold Wallet 2.0. The Titan lives up to its billing, feeling distinctly tougher, despite being finished in black plastic with a slate bezel. The device feels heavy enough to convey confidence that it will last, but not to the point of requiring two hands to support.
Because of its airgapped and cableless design, charging the Titan calls for plugging in a small connector which takes a USB type-C cable. The connector is easily dislodged from the handset, which is a minor annoyance, but if you lay the device down flat on a worktop, it will charge just fine. Once you get used to the light touch connection, it feels natural, despite obliging you to charge the Titan in a place where it won’t be inadvertently nudged.
Setup and Installation
After scanning the QR code on the handset using my smartphone, I’m directed to the Google Play store to install the corresponding Ellipal app. Then the setup process continues on the Titan handset, where I’m given the option of selecting a standard or Segwit BTC address and enabling an optional passphrase. The account creation process takes about 30 seconds before the mnemonic appears on screen. There’s a 12-word seed by default, but this can be upped to 24 words if desired. It feels good to be creating a wallet on a device that is entirely isolated from the web. Until you send or receive cryptocurrency to the BTC address that’s generated, the rest of the world has no way of knowing that your public-private keypair even exists.
The Titan supports more than a dozen cryptocurrencies including BCH, ETH, DASH, XRP, EOS, and BNB. I disable them all except for BTC, BCH, and ETH. I now have the Titan handset configured and the Ellipal app installed on my phone. The next step is to get them talking to one another. This is done by scanning two QR codes that are displayed on the handset. You can alternate between the two codes by swiping across the screen, Tinder-style, which is a nice touch. Ellipal have put a lot of work into improving their software since their last airgapped hardware wallet, and it’s been time well spent.
The Ellipal mobile app
Sending and Receiving Crypto
I have some cryptocurrency in Telegram bot Button Wallet, I recall, which on inspection turns out to be $26 of BCH and $5 of ETH. (If you don’t already have cryptocurrency kicking about, you can purchase bitcoin cash and other major cryptocurrencies at buy.Bitcoin.com using a credit card.) I send all of the ETH and a couple of dollars of BCH to the Titan, and within a few minutes my Ellipal wallet’s loaded with cryptocurrency. Now to try sending coins, which is where the airgapped handset comes into play. All outgoing transactions have to be signed using the QR code that’s generated on the Titan and then scanned using the mobile app.
When reviewing The Cold Wallet 2.0, I found this stage to be a bit fiddly, with the scanner taking a few attempts to read the code. There are no such problems with the Titan: the whole process can be completed in under 20 seconds once you’ve entered your password. I send the bitcoin cash back to Button Wallet, and within a few minutes receive a Telegram notification that my wallet’s been refilled. The ability to send small amounts of BCH at virtually no cost is extremely useful when testing wallets or when introducing people to cryptocurrency. I’ll happily hodl BTC, but for review purposes, BCH has the edge.
Verdict: Airgapped Wallets Are the Way Forward
The Titan isn’t the only airgapped wallet on the market, but compared to something like Coldcard it’s one of the most user-friendly. The software and UX still aren’t as slick as, say, Ledger Live, and some of the tabs and translations in the Ellipal mobile app could use work, but these are minor issues. What matters is that in the Titan, there’s a multi-currency hardware wallet that strikes a balance between security and usability. Fairly priced and well made, the Titan is a force to be reckoned with.

More Of The Authentic – How Blockchain Has Invaded Industry Retailing
More Of The Authentic – How Blockchain Has Invaded Industry Retailing
The technology that has been driving bitcoin and several altcoins is being used for retail now, and its likely you may not have even noticed it. De Beers has placed diamonds on blockchain and Walmart has put lettuce on it. Startups are putting skin care and liquor and fancy watches on the blockchain. Thus, it can now be safely said that there is someone who is also selling something.
Blockchain may be known for keeping of data, though its mostly as the fundamental tech for cryptocurrencies. In general, a blockchain is a sequence of records, shared among a network, that are both accessible and absolute, which means no member can change or delete the data within them without invalidating the rest of the sequence. The definition is up for debate among experts, but there are most who agree the aim is to produce an archive that’s hard to interfere with and easy to confirm freely.
For instance, a retailer might want to keep record of his or her supply chain on the blockchain database in order to track and battle counterfeits. For this to be effective, every department— from factory to distributor to shipper to warehouse to store — would need to partake so that there are no holes in the data. Duplicates of the data will be stored across many devices called “nodes” generating a decentralized system that acts as a safeguard against hacking. it’s worth familiarizing yourself with the areas of retail that could eventually be improved by blockchain. Here are some that technologists, investors, and analysts are excited about now.
Inventory Management
” In retail, the two biggest issues from a data perspective are understanding and knowing where your inventory is — whether it’s in your supply chain or in the store or online — and then matching that with the right customer,” Steve Sarracino, founder and partner at Activant Capital Group, a growth stage venture capital firm, stated.
This would give companies a better control over their shipments and other properties as well as consumers, as their frustration resulting from going to shops only to find out the item is out of stock will reduce. Not that the retailers themselves like it either.
A study by IHL Group, a research and consultancy firm, has shown that stock outs (industry idiom for the aforesaid out-of-stock scenario) cost retailers nearly $1 trillion per year globally. With a better record and clear system through the supply chain, both parties can be on the same track – monitoring the progress of the shipment and having the knowledge of when the products need to be refilled. Blockchain can be of great help by increasing accountability and ensuring that all parties get accurate and updated data.
“There’s no magical fairy dust blockchain platform…It’s got to be some sort of web-based platform that you’re using already, and then you’re going to program blockchain behind it so that each piece of inventory has tracking. You have to interact with the physical world, so there has to be a way to do that: barcodes, RFID, visual scanning — there has to be some analog-to-digital [interaction].”
Steve Sarracino
This is one of the main sprints for any blockchain initiative made to track goods: The system has to be uniform, effective, and itself resistant to counterfeiting (QR codes, for instance, are easily copied).
Anti-counterfeiting
The problems with counterfeits and diverted products ending in some marketplaces like Amazon is really a worry for the cosmetic industry. Though diversion isn’t technically illegal, unapproved resellers can’t assure the chain of custody on their products, meaning customers may be getting fake or expired product (neither of which is good news for a cosmetics brand either).
“The systems that these companies have been using for problems like diversion are based on traditional cloud databases, and because they don’t have the full supply chain or network onboarded, they don’t really have any way of determining the moment that something is diverted. They have to go around and inspect and scan product. If you are tracking it on blockchain and integrating all of these systems so that once it leaves the packager and goes to the first distributor these events are recorded, you can determine at what point the chain was broken,” says Samantha Radocchia.
For some items like a designer fur coat, blockchain can assure customers of its source instead of reliance on the authentication techniques of individual specialists – a major challenge facing the luxury resale market.
Andrew Frank of Gartner research firm, said “in order for it to really work for goods, there has to be end-to-end consistency to record each action in the blockchain, so there are no breaks in the chain where you can no longer be sure that the object you’re holding is the object is created in the factory.”
Modes of Payments With Blockchain
Although the deficiency of standardization in blockchain will give a problem, the tech offers an interesting opportunity for companies that want to avoid credit cards in payment processing. Retailers have a tendency to to operate on very thin margins — groceries, for example, run at an average margin of between 1 and 2 percent — hence the increasingly high fees that credit card companies charge businesses can put a significant dip in profits. If you can charge the customer directly, says Sarracino, “you’re talking about being able to double the margin and/or decrease prices for the consumer. Long-term, that can be super powerful.”
Therefore, how fast can see the effects of blockchain on what we buy and how we buy it? If Walmart is the place you do your grocery shopping or in the market for a diamond ring, then the response is near, even though is not likely for you to see much difference in the store. The changes are likely to happen behind the scenes and be more understated than the booming headlines might suggest.
Ultimately, though, the potential of blockchain is placing power in the hands of the sundry rather than the few and reinstating some appearance of trust to a society increasingly devoid of it gives the impression as good a goal as any for retail to follow.

Universal Wallet Becomes the ‘First’ to Support Cardano’s ADA on Mobile
The company behind a multi-asset, universal wallet that can store major crypto and smart contract tokens in one place says it has become the first mobile wallet to support the ADA cryptocurrency.
Infinito Wallet says the milestone coincides with an update to version 1.15.0 of its platform – enabling users to “securely send, receive and check transaction history of ADA.”
According to the company, this development is significant because very few wallets on the market support ADA, and there is no such app for mobile devices. Infinito developers have worked with the development team behind Cardano and IOHK, and they utilized their official Cardano Rust project to seamlessly integrate ADA-support into the Infinito Wallet. With IOHK’s permission and support, Infinito has contributed code to the open-source Cardano Rust project for ADA mobile wallet integration and will continue such support for the Cardano open-source community.
Although there is a desktop wallet exclusive to ADA called Daedalus, Infinito Wallet says people who hold this cryptocurrency deserve a mobile-driven, “ultra-lightweight and portable” alternative, which would maintain the utmost stability and security. Furthermore, on its roadmap, the Universal Wallet plans to support unique features of the Cardano blockchain, including staking Ouroboros.
ADA now joins thousands of other tokens on the biggest smart contract platforms — such as ETH, EOS, NEO — together with leading coins, including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Dash, ETC and Dogecoin, supported by Infinito Wallet.
Understanding ADA
Infinito Wallet describes the ADA cryptocurrency, which is based on the third-generation Cardano blockchain, as “digital cash that represents the future of money.” It is hoped the technology will pave the way for fast, direct and secure transfers — and in time, Cardano plans to “tackle numerous problems facing the crypto industry” through a smart contract platform for the financial applications that consumers, businesses and governments can rely on.
The company says it has gone through a third-party security audit, and now users have full access to their private keys. Through the Infinito Wallet app, which is available on Apple’s App Store for iOS devices and Google Play for Android smartphones and tablets, users can check their ADA balance through the dashboard, send the cryptocurrency to any address and review their transaction history. It is also possible to receive ADA by sharing a public address or through a unique QR code that has been integrated into the app.
More upgrades planned
The company says it plans to launch version 2.0 of its universal wallet in the fourth quarter of this year, and this will be equipped with a new design that offers a higher degree of customization and an enhanced experience for Infinito Wallet’s user base. Other features are going to include “full support” for blockchain mainnets, including Ontology and more.
Infinito Wallet will also be launching various reward campaigns, including free token Airdrops and Referral programs in Q4, to offer more incentives to users.
The universal wallet is available in a plethora of languages — including English, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean and Russian — and announcements through its official Telegram groups are also available in four languages.
In a nod to its mobile-driven approach, Infinito Wallet supports Touch ID to provide “easy and fast app access without sacrificing security.” Additionally, its apps allow users to store a list of the addresses that they send and receive money from the most, with a view to pave the way for “hassle-free transactions.”
Unlike other wallets, the company says it allows users to include messages with their transactions — making it easier to maintain their records. This is coupled with an ability to export an account’s entire transaction history via .csv files and emails.
In the future, users will be able to see the fiat value of their portfolio and how it has changed over the past 24 hours, in real time.
Infinito Wallet launched toward the end of 2017 — it has been downloaded by more than 250,000 users and has received positive reviews by the community. The brand is the brainchild of Infinity Blockchain Labs Europe, which hopes that its universal wallet will “serve as a gateway for users to maximize usage and potential of their cryptocurrencies.”
